Well I did it, I traded in the 005 and walked away with a 48. First thoughts are 'wow this watch is alive' the rotor wobble is really something else, funny as... it's like having a live being on your wrist!
I must say I did have quite a bit of disappointment over not being able to wear the 44mm Panerai... afterall 44mm IS Panerai and I loved my Logo. But alas it didn't love me.
Last night I tried using the pliars to 'squeeze' the lug ends of my new Crazy Horse strap together and fit it to the 48...
And to my complete delight it WORKED and all regrets of the 44mm departure, disappeared
The 48 IS much easier for me to wear, I've had it on non-stop (with the exception of sleeping) since I got it on Wednesday. I've found that once I get home I'm not removing it as sooon as I possibly can (as I did with the 005 for lack of comfort) and happily wearing it around the house. GOOD sign that is.
So here's a few shots.
wrist shot with the CH fitted
atop of my wotjecki
and a dial shot of the 48 - pretty silver hands, in all the watch is 'cute' compared to the 44mm
doesn't look any different in size from this end.
Arr yes the rotor wobble is just that something little extra with the Auto's. Strap looks killer!
Auto, sub seconds and a date, gota love the 48!
They are scars, I have issues with my hand due to an old injury. As RIDE says, I made a post about it a few days ago saying I was having issues wearing the watch due to this. It didnt suit me on numerous levels.
I meant no disrespect by my reply.. I was simply puzzled by it.. I would think regardless of the watch size, there is always a strap that would make the watch more comfortable.. I could be wrong about this.. but, then how would panerai sell those giant wrist compasses?
I do agree with the others.. you should always get what works for you.. in fact, I disagree with people on this site all the time.. they are just opinions.. cheers,

Next stop on the panerai train is 249
I think you'll find the wrist compasses were made to wear on the outside of a wetsuit or equal. Maybe even strapped to the front of the sub (pig).
I don't have much call for that in my day to day wearing so comfort on the wrist is right up there, guess thats why panerai made the 40mm?
Jp
Looks like this is the one for you Amanda.
The wrist shot looks sooooo much more comfortable than the pics of the 005.
The wobble is something else isn't it.
it's soft like butter due to it being worn in by Bo the Afghaniristi extraoadinaire! I'm totally stoked... it's fitting better than anything else I've tried so far... finally I can wear the strap looser and have the watch sitting a bit further down my wrist and it's not bashing into my hand - yippeeeeeee
glad to hear that you've found the your wrist mate. Read your earlier post but did not comment as that I didnt think I could offer anything than try a 40mm. I loved the wobble which makes the 40mm feel like a bigger machine. I had the same issue with my 45mm AP on my 6.5" wrist. Developed a blister on the bony part of the wrist. The48 looks great on you!! I bet a PAM 49 would be a great piece too for you.
Thanks for the follow up; glad you a happy camper again.

Refresh, refresh, refresh....
... on the new watch and getting the CH to fit. The strap really complements the watch and doesn't look oversized at all. I think it gives the watch a historic look and the watch looks good on you. Congrats!
Sorry I'm late with my post - only just got on the site now. The 48 does suit your wrist better than the 44mm 005 and it is obviously more comfortable so IMHO it is the best size for you.
