Why do certain Panerai's take so long to reach boutiques?

Hi,

I own a couple of fairly regular Panerai's, but seek a PAM 270 or PAM 317. You simply can't seem to source these in the UK, despite the PAM 270 being announced April 2007!

My local Panerai dealer (in Bath) still hasn't received their first PAM 270 and they are only due a couple this year.

Why does it take so long from the April announcement for these Panerai's to start reaching the boutiques? Is it just a UK problem?

Thanks,

Chris.

I think Panerai caters more to the higher yield countries.

Maybe you should consider ordering from a foreign AD or boutique?

Possibly

You may be right. I'm heading to Tuscany first week of July and may pay a visit to the Florence Panerai boutique.

Does anyone know if this boutique sells the entire range?

Buying from the US - you may be right, but importing is subject to nearly 22% of import duty.

Call or email them in advance to see if they can get the watch for you.

You're not alone...

We have the same problem here in France - despite us seeing the 270 months ago (or so it seems) in the US, we're still waiting the first arrivals here. As for the 317 - don't hold your breath - I'm told it's due here in February 2009...

I received a couple of emails this afternoon to say that the PAM 270 is due in the UK in July....15 months after it was originally announced!

Mind you, I also heard that the PAM 026 and other 2008 SE's are due Aug/September, so not sure why the 270 has been so late.

I was told that leaving a name for a watch doesn't put you above someone who leaves a (small) deposit. If you leave a deposit, you're always first on the list. If you simply leave a name, you're overruled by someone who leaves the deposit, even if it is £200.

The thing that confused me was the wait between April 2007 announcement and the release - PAM 270 hasn't reached the UK yet, 15 months after the announcement. That's crazy.
