Desert Island Dream (Ericx2)

My neighbor's 11 year old kid is one of these MacGvyer-types. When I came home the other night (slightly intoxicated from some holiday festivities), he was in his parent's garage messing around with a toy ship that was hooked up to wires that were connected to two car batteries. The car batteries were, in turn, connected to an old roof-mount TV antenna. Weird kid. Anyway, it stormed like crazy later that night and I woke up on my old ship; the USS Midway!!!

Photobucket

I went out on deck to have a look around...the entire fleet was out and about

Photobucket

Then, I heard planes overhead and the shooting started. We got one or two of them...

Photobucket

...but in the end, Clinton's military budget cuts left us without enough ammo. We started to sink.

Photobucket

Before the ship went down, the Skipper was looking high and low for me. I was dating his daughter and he was hoping that I had drowned.

Photobucket

Little did he know that growing up near the toxic waste dumps in New Jersey had a strange affect on my DNA...

Photobucket

...which made strange things happen to me whenever I was submerged in water

Photobucket

Before abandoning ship, I made it to the ship's store. I was able to grab a few neccessities before...

Ship sinking: washed ashore, 10 items;

2 watches...

Being shipwrecked, I'm going to need a reliable beater. I've always liked the Doxas for their retro style and price point. I grabbed this one because it can follow 3 timezones...the one I came from, the one I'm going to and the one I'm in.

Photobucket

And of course I'll need my all-time favorite PAM 232. Fairly impractical for this unexpected excursion, but a favorite nonetheless.

Photobucket

2 songs...

This one is tough as I'm a die-hard rock & roll fan with over 300 CDs. I thought about the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil", Guns-n-Roses' "Patience" and Golden Earing's "Radar Love". But in the end, I picked these two:

1st song is Live's "Lightning Crashes". This song is both tragic and uplifting all at once

Photobucket

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQbAz-cgDR8

2nd song is Train's "Drops of Jupiter". I've seen this band 7 times and I NEVER get tired of hearing this song

Photobucket

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xXQFnIEf_Q

1 book...

Tough one, but I picked this book because it gave me some insight into music that is as popular today as it was nearly 40 years ago.

Photobucket

1 movie...

Another tough one, but I'm always glued to the screen for this one. I never did like that bastard Magua though.

Photobucket

1 photograph...

I'm not big on taking photos, but this one always makes me laugh. One of the guys in the band grabbed a camera from us and took this from the stage. Check out the crowd...I'm on the left - long sleeve back t-shirt, yellow wristband and, of course, a beer.

Photobucket

Let's not forget the band and the infamous venue...

Photobucket

1 memory...

So many to choose from, so I'll choose one that hasn't happened yet - but soon...very soon...

Photobucket

1 meal...

I've been partial to pizza & beer ever since that college Halloween party when I blacked out and couldn't remember a damn thing...

Photobucket

1 person...

This would have to be my niece Jennifer who lost her 22-year battle with Cystic Fibrosis this past April. Although she was half my age, I learned alot about courage and character from her. I think about her every day. I'm not so sure that my sister would "sign-off" on me posting pics, so...
