My Desert Island Dream

Ship sinking -- and now washed ashore, with only 10 items to bring:
2 watches
2 songs
1 book
1 movie
1 photograph
1 memory
1 person
1 meal

Ok here goes, this is how I got myself into this situation...

Probably as a result of my world famous Panerai photos being displayed in the Dutch Rijksmuseum (no really)...

[linked image]

...Robbie-Do sent me an e-mail to let me know that all the celebs were now posing with my glamorous Panerai pics... well obviously...

[linked image]

Even the future first lady was doing it (that and a few other things I saw her doing in one of her classy videos happy.gif)...

[linked image]

That's all cool you know...
...but when Obama decided to put one of my pics on the US hundred dollar bill (yes he can)...

[linked image]

...I decided that it was time to go to the US.
For some reason I didn't want to fly so I went with this...

[linked image]

...I promised Dirk to bring back some nice material for a custom strap and so I went for a dive with my pocket knife...

[linked image]

When I came back up... WTF, that can only happen to me... The ship was gone! I guess I should have told them I'd gone diving.

(I know the ship is supposed to sink but I want this to be a very realistic story obviously).

Oh well, luckily this place was only a good swim away...

[linked image]

Good thing though - when I go diving, I always have some really important stuff in my rucksack...

2 watches:

My 233, I love it to death so that's easy. With or without OEM strap, even scotch tape would do fine.

[linked image]

One other watch, not so easy... If I'd own one, I'd bring my 203 (pic below is JF's watch on my wrist, man that's so nice).

[linked image]

But because I don't own a 203, it'll be my 2A. Or maybe my 243 after all...

[linked image]

Or... No. It'll be my 2A. Then I won't have to worry about how much seconds slow it may or may not be wink.gif

[linked image]

2 songs:

There are so many. I love love love Korn, Faith no more, Soundgarden, Slipknot, Steve Vai, Audioslave and still Pink Floyd, The Who and so many more.

But it's gotta to be just 2 so...

"Thoughtless" by Korn >> http://youtube.com/watch?v=qvb_IkMmYFY

These guys give me energy. I love 'm. Especially the earlier albums.

[linked image]

I guess I'm old, "Baba O'Reily" by The Who still works for me >> http://youtube.com/watch?v=HsbPVlFcmDs

[linked image]

1 book:

I have to admit, the only books I read are about technical things, programming, photography, stuff like that. The last novel I read was Digital Fortress after reading The DaVinci code. It sucked.
I think I'll bring a book I currently have on order (hope it's any good):

[linked image]

1 movie:

Again so many, but since I bought the autographed movie poster in New Orleans, it has to be Pulp Fiction. If The Sopranos would have been a movie, I might just have picked that instead.
Contenders would be Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Casino, Mememto, The Matrix, Reservoir dogs, True Romance, Crash, Soldaat van Oranje and a bunch more.

Sorry for the bad movie poster pic, but you'll get the idea...

[linked image]

Tarantino will never live up to my expectations again - everything he made after RD, TR and PF was BS imo (*)

[linked image]

(*) clarification: RD = Reservoir Dogs, TR = True Romance, PF = Pulp Fiction, BS = ...well, you know wink.gif

1 photograph:

Nothing spectacular, but my kids were having a great time last summer in Italy and that's how I like to see them. So I'll bring this one:

[linked image]

1 memory:

Very boring I'm sure, but the feeling I had when my kids were born can't be described. It's such an amazing experience.

They grow up so fast, look at Danii only a few years ago (Dylan does everything he can to not be in any picture sad.gif).

[linked image] [linked image]

and look at her now (yeah I know, what on earth happened to that cute blond hair?)...

[linked image]

...But... I have two kids and it can only be one memory...

So here goes (just as boring but hey, it's my memory)...

I first met my wife when I was 15 and fell in love with her straight away. We broke up when we were 18 (actually she broke up with me, but that's not good for my image so... wink.gif).
After a few months, she called me and said she missed me. We've been together ever since.
That was a good day, so that's the memory I'm bringing.

1 person:

Read above happy.gif Edith of course.

Pics I took quite a few years ago I think...

[linked image]

[linked image]

And last summer in Italy

[linked image]

1 meal:

It has to be something with lamb. People I went out with really got pissed off with me when I ordered lamb - and I can of course never order it when I have my daughter with me (she would make very angry faces at me), but man do I love it.
Can't do without a good glass of red wine. Barolo please! Pomerol does it for me too. Or a nice Fleurie or or...

[linked image]

happy.gif Well that's it, thanks for reading!
I hope it wasn't too boring.

Please post your name underneath. I'll pick the next DID dude (or gall) next Monday.

I usually...

...don't comment on DID posts and seldom participate on this forum at all really but this was impressive Martin. I especially am impressed that you've been with your wife for so long in this day and age when more than 50% of all marriages end in divorce. I guess there's some sort of secret there dude happy.gif
