Hey All:

Can any fellow Ristis give me some info on the IWC Big Pilot 5002 Transitional model? I am interested in knowing the difference between this and the regular 5002 model. Also, how rare is this piece?

Thanks to everyone in advance!

Felix

IWC began producing the big pilot model # 5002 with a slower beat

movement.
when the new model came out, the 5004, it had a faster beat movement.
There are some 5002 models, with the older dial from the 5002, and the newer movement of the 5004.
those are the transitional BPs.
I have no idea how many there are.
happy hunting !

5002 transtitional

Hi Felix,

I asked the same question in an IWC forum, and the answer I got back was that "IWC do not release production numbers" and therefore we don't really know for sure.

That being said however, there seem to be significantly less BP 5002 transitional's around (they were probably using up the old 5002 dials, prior to the move to the newer 5004 dials).

Big Pilot's

One of my close friend owns IWC dealer in LA.

When I got my BP from him, he told me that

IWC ONLY distribute Max of 3 BP for each dealer per year.
Some dealers get only ONE a year.. sometimes..

It's was so hard to find before but now you can easily see them at the dealer.
I think because of the recession. Still very little discount on it..
