hi

i own a Panerai Radiomir 183G and like it. i am in the market for a complimenting watch with the following limits

- $5 - $6k price range
- vintage preferred
- 39mm size + PLUS
- white dial (optional)
- silver bracelet/dressy (optional)

Rolex Sub 1680 / 16800 or Omega Speedmaster 321/861

April 16 2012, 10:37 PM

I think that if you are going for Vintage, these 3 models are hard to beat and are amongst the best value in watches IMHO.

The 1680 is about 6k, the 16800 is about 5k, while the Speedmaster 321 is about 3k to 5k depending on condition and the 861 is 2.5k to 1.5k.

All can be mounted on bracelets and both are very iconic in their own right.

I had the Milgauss, not really a fan at all, bit too blingy for my taste and I would personally never ever get a Breitling (unless its the Emergency).

+1 for 16800

you may still find 16800 with matte dial - best of both worlds , sapphire and tritium matte dial - you may then satisfy your needs and also get a hint of vintage look

out of the 3 options noted...

April 17 2012, 1:58 AM

i would go for the 60s omega chrono(u can put it on a strap or bracelet)... if u extended it to other Rolex models than perhaps the 5513 would be a gd choice... but keeping to your options, the speedy(any variant with the 321) would be my choice. i've owned the milgauss n its a nice watch too but the vintage speedy over it for me. i'm not a breitling fan. some reasons why... plexi is sexy wink.gif great chrono movement and a wonderful story(selected after stringent nasa tests, this model was the same worn by buzz to the moon etc)...

I know of a Transocean Chrono LE for sale...

April 17 2012, 3:13 AM

I was the original owner (from Breitling AD) and the new owner is looking to sell it already. It's the black dial with silver subdials on bracelet and has at least a year of Breitling warranty left. It's a nice dedicated dress watch but that's about all I felt I could wear it for. I thought I would fly with it and never did because it was too polished to put in the cockpit.

Shoot me an email if you're interested and I'll connect you two.

Love the

Rolex Milgauss with green crystal. It's just so unique. The orange lightning-bolt second hand, the color of the crystal, and the size make it an outstanding watch for your collection.

Best of luck with your decision!

Rolex Milgauss (but would prefer a Sea-Dweller (first choice) or Sub 14060)
If Breitling, try to minimize the buying price. nice watch but poor resale value except classic Navi.
Cheers,
C.
