the thing i like most about my father now, is how he admits that he didn't had the time to spent with us when we were kids and how he tries to make that up with my kids! He is crazy about my kids and that's great!

My dad taught me was to be responsible with finances, to trust when verified, and show utmost loyalty even to those that may or may not deserve it.

My father passed away 9 years ago April. I miss him and it's painful that he'll never meet my kids or my wife but I try to keep him alive with my memories of him. He had a great sense of humor and worked and played hard. Some of his words to live by "when given a choice, choose both." One of his favorite jokes, "I met a couple of nice gay Irishmen. Gerald Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fitzgerald." When someone would comment about his height (he was 5'8) he would inevitably reply, "Well, I'm taller lying down."

who actually suddenly and unexpectedly passed away 4 weeks ago yesterday, was that I always felt and knew that I was loved by him. It is something I have made sure that I am passing on to my 6 year old son and 3 year old daughter.

to a few of them and they said that they met him at the laundry, or at the donut shop, etc.

He also taught me the importance of family and of being there for your family and friends...

I see a part of him in my son and daughter, myself and my brothers and nieces and nephews - so he's still here with us...

I love that my dad laughs all the time, he's always cracking jokes, and when you really make him laugh hard, it's a treat.
