WHEN will they tell us if there will come more composite watches or not ???

386 and 375 ... It's been something like 2 years and I really think it's time to come with an official statement !!!!

Will we ever see these pieces or not ?

If not, no problem but please INFORM us ! You know quite a few guys did order this watch and not everybody is wealthy enough
to buy whatever they wish. I mean, some of us.... a lot of us ... saved for such a piece and waiting 2 years without any answer is damn annoying.
If these will never be made, no problem but at least I can use that reserved money for another watch. No matter if it is a Panerai or not.

These 2 watches are already disappeared from www.panerai.com .... WHY ?

Now, could you please tell us if these are cancelled forever - or will be made in another material ( ceramic might be a perfect solution)

But please give us some info or news, after 2 years this seems to be a very fair question.
This also belongs to customer service.

According to Panerai UK, next year

July 14 2012, 3:43 PM

My dealer told me only a few weeks ago, that the 386 was still scheduled for next year. Panerai UK say it hasn't been cancelled. It's true they had production issues, but they have just lead to delays, not a completely cancellation.

They expect the composite watches to appear in small numbers, at boutiques, later this year and dealers should start receiving them early 2013.

There might be more up-to-date info, I was told the official line isn't that they are cancelled. Or, maybe, they are saving face by saying they are perma-delayed happy.gif

I understood these would not be produced, ...

July 14 2012, 4:30 PM

... and they shouldn't be! Having owned both composite (339) and ceramic (317&335) models, there is simply no comparison.

If I were you, I'd save my money for a ceramic Fiddy. Sooner or later, ...

dont bother waiting

July 14 2012, 5:05 PM

i have it on very good authority that they are cancelled due to manufacturing issues. I was on a priority list my AD was informed directly by someone at panerai that they were cancelled . So much so that they sent me another model as consolation.

Sorry i just dont think they will risk it not now there is ceramic.

Composite and Ceramic are vastly different

July 14 2012, 5:48 PM

I have a 292 and a 339, and they are both great, but very different - the 339 is about half the weight, and has its own unique look, nothing like the 339.

Saying Panerai should give up on the composite because they have ceramic is like saying they should give up on titanium because they have steel.

Some people are going to prefer ceramic no doubt - it is heavier, with a very dark graphite look, and I think all the ceramic pieces are stunners. However, the 339 composite knocks it out of the park too, in a very different direction - II love the contrast with my other pieces, it is so light that it almost feels like I'm not wearing anything! And the color and presentation are fantastic.

Composite or ceramic is personal preference (or love them both), but they are not the same watch at all, and I hope Panerai comes back with the composites, as there's nothing like what they've done with the material.

How about brown ceramic? >>

July 15 2012, 12:06 AM

A rich dark-brown 1950-style ceramic case with brown (or black) anodized titanium caseback might work.

There's obviously something special about the 339 look and feel but the hard-anodized aluminum seems difficult to produce consistently - and difficult to tell when a part isn't processed correctly it seems.

I'd also be interested in an all-titanium case in brown or black, but who knows, maybe the colors are hard to keep consistent. My 335 has a black Ti caseback, however, and it's holding up great (no fading, discoloration, scratches, etc.) Looks similar to PVD in my opinion.

Hope they will release it

July 15 2012, 7:22 AM

Had my eye on both of them. The composite material is absolutely amazing. I don't own a ceramic but hopefully soon. Where as PVD, seems to lose a bit of luster after some wear, especially the contact points on the wrist.

Not being produced

July 16 2012, 12:57 PM

Was told by Singapore boutique manager that they will not be produced.
He was up front, open and genuine about some of the problems with the material.
I have since finally got news from my AD in Sydney that my 339 has finally arrived (better late than never). Pick it up in a few weeks, so will be interesting to see what number it is !!!
It would seem that even the 339's were slow to be produced and rolled out.
Hope this helps. If you are set on a brownie, then get a 339. Might be your only chance.
Cheers. Andy
