It was a huge pleasure to receive the call last week from the ever-friendly Ida at the SG boutique and I must say I wasted no time in swinging by that evening....
The PAM 432 ... there have been quite a few other boutique editions released of course, but as a long time risti born and bred in Singapore this is a very special piece to me in a personal way:
The dial is no different of course from the other boutique editions. As a confirmed T-dial fan, I had concerns at first about the colour of the luminova but in the flesh, it looks great. Its a very pleasant shade of brown, different from the 360 and of course my 1A and 2A but goes great with the Assolutemente strap (another first for me, and one of the nicest OEM straps out there IMHO)
The pig is cute! I thought it would impact the clean look of the dial but I quite like it
Hard to explain, but there are certain PAMs that look a bit better on someone else's wrist... this one in contrast, felt right at home from the start on mine ... great balance and great execution
But the highlight of this watch, of course, has to be the caseback:
We had a lot of fun speculating on what the caseback would be... I would have been happy with the Marina Bay Sands (with the Singapore Flyer in the background) which was widely rumoured... I would have NOT been happy with the Merlion (thank goodness!!) but in the end, Panerai went for a relatively safe but correct choice, the Raffles Place (financial district) skyline.
It resonates with me on a personal note as I've worked there for the best part of 2 decades now and I still think its one of the nicest parts of the island (well, not on a bad work day, but on most days! haha:) )
Seriously, looking at the caseback never fails to bring a smile ... I never knew when I first stumbled on the brand and on Paneristi in 2006 that one day I would actually own a PAM with a little piece of Singapore on the back
Very well done, Panerai!
My huge thanks to the bros who made this possible and to Antonius and his most excellent crew at the SG boutique who never fail to provide the most excellent service whenever I pop by
Many thanks for reading this post. Cheers!
