Ahhh, help needed... magnetized?

Here is the story. Recently I noticed that my PAM000 gained about 1 minute a day... as it had not been serviced yet, I took it to the Richmond service center... who confirmed it was gaining time and "needed servicing". So I went to the full spa treatment (which costs a mint).

But, today I noticed that my PAM88 is also gaining about a minute a day!!! And it had been serviced already about a year and half ago. I am not ready to sell my last kidney to get it serviced again...

Now it made me think. I recently joined the public library in my suburb and borrowed a few books/DVDs. They have some metallic stripes on them (that make the alarm bell ring if you haven't properly checked them out). I am wondering (not sure) if that isn't the problem... You have to put them on the bar code reader and keep them sitting there until they are "deactivated": that makes a big noise and I think it might involve some magnetic process. Now I hold those books in my hand where I wear the watch, maybe, it gets magnetized??? I can really track for sure but I just guess.

If so, can I ask the service center to just check/solve that instead of a full service, or should I find a watchmaker to do this?

Thanks

see if you can find a local guy to run it thru a de-magnetizer first.

It takes all of 2mins. If I'm not mistaken the base movement in the 88 is

a valjoux 7750 so it shouldn't need service that soon.
