I still lurk around these parts occasionally, but I find it difficult to participate as much as I used to in the past (not fair!) As Volker put it, "work sucks, money rules!". I really am grateful to be working, and I do love my job. It's been one year and 5 months since I started contract work for Fermilab http://www.fnal.gov
), and recently was hired on by Dell Services Federal Government. I am on a small team providing hardware and software support for the entire laboratory. You may have seen some happenings in the news on the discovery of the Higgs particle, Fermilab was instrumental in the data sets gathered in finding it. We are basically the backup data center for CERN in Switzerland, and it has been a very exciting time to be working in such an interesting location. I still have my old school Pam 2D, pretty sure I will never part with it. I haven't been collecting watches as much as in the past, guitars take up that position (not that most are much cheaper!). I've also been traveling a bit in my spare time, going to various air shows and keeping up with my aviation photography. I also still model scale miniatures, but again...I find it hard to balance my time evenly for all that I want to do.
Between that, work, and sleep, that's pretty much my life as of late. I miss the old days of the forum, few things will ever be able to replace or duplicate the memories I have from the first few PDAYs...but I keep hope alive I can attend another get together soon...
Hope you and everyone else are well, and I will try to make appearances around here more often!
