Just a curious question... If you look at two Panerai of the same model (in this case, PAM00617) at the same viewing angle, will the sapphire crystal distort the numbers the same way or not? Just wondering. I couldn't resist getting another 617 as a backup. Now I have lemon and lime. happy.gif

Sorry, that should be "before", not "befgore". (nt)

Interesting question on the distortion...

And a fantastic excuse to post 2 amazing pieces that happen to be the same.

I have concluded 47mm is probably too big for me or I would have gotten a 617 or 375 long ago, really fantastic modern references IMO.

i'd think yes

it should be the same - if the crystal is the exact same shape and the photo is taken of each from the same angle, should be the same result. but i'm seeing double right now so who knows???

great collection and excellent strap choices.
Mike...NYC. My collection so far is a 312 and some cool straps.

One of my favorite things...

...this distortion is.

Much of what I like about the FIddy, and why I purchased one. Something about it, I just love it.

As far as differences go, my assumption would be that this is a precision made product, and as such should be nearly identical within reasonable tolerances. Those tolerances would not need to be tight, so I would not be shocked to find some differences in a large sample.

Thank you very much to All!

I was a little worried about the non-uniform distortion, but not anymore. Thank you.
