Hi all,

In the office cogitating how to conduct this bit - merit points to anyone who knows what this music is!

Have a good Wednesday everyone.....

Mike Seal

PS - by the way, it is my 320 on a Simona Bruno Allegrini, No.979

did you change the strap to match the shirt? or vice versa?

October 11 2017, 6:27 PM

i'm guilty of both, just looking for moral support here!
Mike...NYC. My collection so far is a 312 and some cool straps.

wait, you're not just up there flapping your arms around for excercise????

October 11 2017, 6:29 PM

that looks so unbelievably complicated. is that for one single instrument or does that cover the whole orchestra? i can't even imagine how hard that must be to keep track of in real time.

Good question, Mike

October 11 2017, 6:50 PM

That is a full score, showing every part of the orchestra. Each player has his or her own part but I have to see everyone's music.

I spend much more time in my study, studying the scores, than I do actually waving my arms around in front of the orchestra! I need to know what is going on when, how fast, how the balance should sound........I could go on but yes, it can be complicated!!

Very lucky to do this for a living!!

Mike Seal

PS - here is something that really is complicated (a modern piece of Belgian music I am conducting later this year) next to something very uncomplicated, just to keep it Panerai-centric?!

I'll have a go. Am I right in thinking............

October 11 2017, 11:27 PM

it's a German composer and you've got:

3 oboes
3 clarinets
2 or 3 bassoons
8 french horns
3 trumpets
1 trombone

with all that brass and woodwind, I'm thinking it's Handel, maybe the Music For The Royal Fireworks?

That lot will make a great deal of noise, but not as much as the Mackerras Fireworks - 70 instruments or so, wasn't it?

German, you say?

October 12 2017, 9:04 AM

Nice try, Rapers - I am covering the 3 Flutes with my wrist and the Strings are missing off the photograph. You also missed the 3 Trombones, 1 Tuba and Timpani........

It is Austrian, so very close. It is the big climax halfway through Bruckner's Symphony No.8, a mountain of a piece! And yes, it is extremely loud at this point!!
