Why not let abra be one of the starter pokemon?

i had this idea of the stater pokemon would be ethier abra, machop, or gastly because its one of the universal pokemons in different versions as ive seen so far.

To my expirence i know its a good thing that the only way to evolve a certain pokemon is by trading. But do you think it would be more intersting for a pokemon to evolve at its own rate(WHEN ITS READY).
