RV sites in Mexico

by

I'm heading to Mexico - Central Mexico and the Yucatan in an Rv later this week and would like to know if there are any web sites devoted to the actual rv sites. How easy is it to find rv sites in the interior?

thanks

2-Way Satellite Internet Access only $650 (system) and $60/month - Why pay $6,000 ???

by

Hey,

I recently posted a message and it got lots of attention. Unforunately, some people have the misconceived idea that I work for one of these companies. I do not work for any of them. I have been looking for a similar service and simply sharing the wealth of information that I have researched for over a year. I am a professional photographer. I travel 60,000 to 70,000 miles a year traveling around the country doing photo shoots in 10 to 12 different states and have done shoots in 20 different states over the last six years.
I am a very avid internet user. I have tried accessing the internet via cellular telephone - very expensive and over-rated - way to slow for my needs.
I have reviewed every system that is available to the public. So, far by far the best system I have found
is manufactured by DirectTV and marketed under the name Direct Way. There are currently over 300 users (mostly RVers) using this new technology. The system is only $650 !!! The monthly internet access is $60 a month - about the same as regular DSL service. It is not self-tuning as MotoSat - that what the extra $5,350 is for (the dish to self-tune) It takes only about 15 to 20 minutes to tune it to the internet service. I highly recommend this system.
You can Call Ron Brundage (toll-free) at
1-888-922-1501
or email Ron at ronbrundage@eudoramail.com
I would do anything I can to help any of you guys. However, the best source of information would be from the horse's mouth himself. CALL RON !!! He even pays for the call and you wont be disappointed. He is one of the good guys. I have spoken to him and his wife many times over the past year since I first discovered his business. Since then his business has grown because he offers great service and an excellant price!
I hope you all decide to call him and I dont think you are gonna find a better deal. Unless you have money to burn and would rather pay $6,000 for a self-tuning dish. Personally, I like Ron's system and his excellant customer service. Let me know what you think of his system.

Best Wishes and a Merry Christmas,
Adam Naramore

Why pay $6,000.00????

by

What I did not understand in your message about the Direcway system is the mobility aspects. Yes they are only $650.00 and cost about $200.00 to be cros/pol and co/pol by a certified installer and they are a fixed system and not transportable. If your in need of being mobile then the 6K is then not that great of an amount. I sell and install both fixed systems and the fixed & transportable. I have one on my RV and love it. It takes me longer to set up my TV dish than it does the Motosat system. We sell and install these all over the country and in many applications. Cabooses, emergency units, etc. They are gaining popularity. To the average RV'er and mobile internet user it is not a good investment but for someone that moves around or is a full time Rv'er and does not want to look for a ma bell wall plug then MotoSat is the only option. Some systems use a dish for the downlink and a sat phone for the uplink and that can run up a hefty monthly bill.

Getting Informatiion on the $650 system

by

I talked to the lady who answered the phone number referenced in your message. She was very nice but basically said that I could get the information I needed off of their web site. Unfortunately their web site was all about the $5-6k solutions not the $650 one. While it mentions that there is a manual pointing option there is no place to obtain any information about the manual pointing one. Can you help. I sent several emails to Ron but got no response.

Thanks

Zoning rules on RV's

by

Here's a friendly heads up to other RV lovers....be very wary of local zoning regulations regarding parking your RV at your home. I went to court a few years back fighting a local parking ordinance prohibiting RV parking and won. The judge said drive it whenever you want and park it in your side driveway (I have the transcript even). Recently I was brought into court again. Same issue...parking the RV in my driveway - only the city used a new claim that I didn't move it every 30 days and so violated their "30 day storage rule" (keeping in mind that I have it in the judges own words that I was under no such restriction and was told I could move it whenever I wanted). To sum it up the court ignored the submitted transcripts and proof that I thought I was following court orders and found me guilty of a criminal misdemeanor for parking an RV in my driveway.

I was assessed $2000 in fines and put on a 1 year probation. Criminal that I am I have to get the courts permission for the next year to even take a vacation out of state (which by the way was denied on my first request because I hadn't known I had to submit proof to the court I had moved the RV - Judge didn't tell me to do that....just to move the darn thing which I did)

So for those of you entertaining parking your RV at your home....be scared....be very scared. I'm not sure when it happened but parking an RV can now make you a criminal in need of probation. You will officially be guilty of a criminal misdemeanor. Enjoy the heck out of your RV's....I'm a senior and despite everything I still love camping....but watch those zoning ordinances...they can make you into a criminal faster than you can say pass the marshmallows over a campfire!

PS....I probably should have posted this in another section, but I actually was installing a satellite dish on the RV (and had built a whole cabinet etc. for my computer hookup to it in the front of the RV) during this legal action. I have some knowledge on that subject if anyone is starting from scratch.

RV Satellite Internet -affordable

The Direcway [Hughes] system will work for you in most of North America, including Mexico. Hughes discourages non permanent installation and requires that the service be installed by a certified installer.
I offer an RV adapter Kit which will work on any RV with an Awning. The Kit includes the Hardware for mounting, and instructions for how to work it.
If you purchase the Direcway service from me, I will assist you in setting it up.
Assuming you are in Arizona between April and October and have not yet purchased the Direcway service. The cost is $1200 in addition to the Direcway monthly charges.

Feedback from Direcway/Datastorm users?

by

I am looking into installing a Motosat Datastorm dish to use Direcway 2 way internet. I have visited alot of internet forums and the reviews are not very positive, but seem to be improving. Are there any Motorhomers with these in use that can give me feedback on the speed and reliability and their experiences, positive and negative? This is a $6K investment and I really need to be sure it is worth it.
Thanks

SRS responce

by

The system youare questioning is Manufactured by the Hughes Corp, and redistributed as Directway 2 way system or SRS, However, the company that is selling the storm data system for allmost $7k is simply using the above equipment, and intergrating a motor driven servo system with it along with a signal meter to allow it to lock into the satelite, I bought the very same satelite system for my house, of course as a fixed staionary system, I purchased it for $399.00 and a $199.00 install cost I tried evrything I could to get it to have better upload speeds over 42 kbps, it was supposed to deliver up to 128kps, Good download speeds but uplink speed is just as important, and then there is the lag, and also the ISP that comes with it puts caps on it better known as FAP, which throttles it down during peak usage or if you do a large download! The system never gave true broadband performance, support was terrible, and the cost of the ISP for $79 a month wasnt worth it, I sent it back to the seller for a refund, however if you are living outa your RV and spend all your time on the road, this is about the only way youll get a decent conection to the net, on this very same forum, there is a thread about buying the system I just described and manually tuning it to the satelite after you park for the night or whatever! In my opinion your way overpaying for the servo auto tune capabilities, They are only using someones elses design and marking it way up with the auto tracking, so its up to you, its not the best connection or broadband, but no better than dialup, for the up speed, the downloads are better than dial up, the system is suppossed to deliver 128 up/ 400 dwn , I never got over 42kbps up, but did achive downloads of over 800kbps dwn when there wasnt alot of people on it, and also when you are assigned a satelite, thats it, no more on the menu, which is ****, cause you should have the ability to switch satelites if one is delivering poor performance because its overloaded with users! Again its up to you on whether you want to climb up top or whatever to tune it in or to have it done automaticly! If you can afford a Prevost RV, then you wont care about $7k, if not then $ would be an issue to me! "SIDEWAYS"

I use a Viking 56K PC Card Cellular Ready Modem for Nokia Phones with my Nokia 5160. Viking Model #RFM56KPCNOK. It is a PCMCIA card modem. Works in analog mode only, which is fine with me. Typical 9800 bps connections. Bought mine on sale for about $100. Comes with everything needed... PCMCIA card modem, cable to connect to Nokia cell phone, cable to connect to land line, installation software, etc. Works good in my laptop. I also got PCI to PCMCIA adaptor card for my desktop so that I could plug the setup into my desktop PC as well. This also works good. I use the TrendNet Model TEW-PCIA adaptor card, but there are others as well.

Cell Modem

I am a full time RVer and love to travel. I switched from AT&T to Verizon and now simply plug my cellphone into the back of my laptop. I choose Verizon because of their Americas choice plan which allows unlimited nights and weekends in a very large portion of the US.I have traveled from SC to FL to CO to Vegas to Phoenix to CA so far and Oklahoma was the only problem. I bought the cord and software program from Verizon ($50) and it was pretty much plug and go.

PS It is Saturday morning and I am parked in the sand dunes on the Calif - Mexico border writing this on laptop

cell phone as modem

by

I travel with a Dell laptop and a Motorola StarTac cell phone. It is a Tri- mode phone, 1 yr old.It switches automatically from Analog to Digital, & I can switch from A mode to B mode, service with Verizon, & using Office Mobile kit. Most of the time it stays in the automatic A mode.
I can only access e-mail when the signal is digital & data capable, which does exclude some remote areas in AZ, MT etc.Metropolitan and interstates are mostly digital now, and the it is constantly getting better. The hassel and $$$ of a satelitte dish for the pc do not yet seem reasonable to me unless you are in business where the speed is required.
But I have found this to be sucessful for accessing e-mail, sending & receiving small attachments(pictures), and limited web browsing etc. while we traveled all over the US in the past year.
For $60 you can purchase the Verizon Office Mobile Kit and the technical service is pretty good most of the time. It is easy to install and the investment is not large.

With the cost of gasoline rising every week, I went out and found a way I could save some money at the pumps. I joined a group where I save 21% every time I fill up. Not only that, since I use my computer on the road, this program also gives me the ability to make money from my RV. RV tracking across North America ...

by

FYI...

10.20.com Launches Innovative Vehicle Geolocation Service Across North America
Independent of cellular networks, system has continent-wide coverage

Laurel, Maryland, September 13, 2002 – The 10-20.com company announced the immediate availability of their innovative vehicle geolocation service across North America. Using a small and easily installable GPS locator/transmitter and antenna, the 10-20.com device reports the precise location of the vehicle back to a web-accessible database at regular intervals. Anyone with a web browser can readily access location information overlaid on a choice of either street or topological maps. A running history of more than one year of position points can be reviewed and plotted.

“With 10-20.com’s service installed, you can locate a loved one taking a cross-country trip, track field engineers moving from site to site, or have a shipping manager automatically paged as a truck approaches,” said CEO and founder John Todd. “Businesses can get a better idea of fleet utilization for insurance purposes and decrease the use of vehicles for unauthorized usage.”

Cars, boats, trucks, buses, and other vehicles can be swiftly tracked, with alarms that can be set for geographic boundaries of city, state, or country. Alarms can also be triggered on average speed between two points, vehicle movement, or upon a stationary report for a set period of time. Alarm triggering can deliver either an e-mail or pager notification. Depending on the service plan, the reporting interval can be set between thirty minutes and twenty-four hours.

Special features of the 10-20.com system allow users to share waypoints between themselves and anyone with Internet access, giving travelers the ability to give others views into their past trips, interesting map points, or current location. Users can apply five privacy levels to each person who has been granted access to any data, ensuring track data is accessed only in a way that is acceptable to the owner of the device. Additionally, users may incorporate current position maps into their own web pages, allowing views of current track data from within existing web applications or personal home pages.

Unlike other GPS locator systems, 10-20.com uses 2-way satellite technology to report position data, enabling true ubiquitous coverage on land or water away from civilization. By using this bi-directional satellite communication network, the 10-20.com system overcomes the shortfalls of systems that use cellular phone or 2-way paging towers as relays for positional data.

The 10-20.com locator device is about the size of a paperback book and can be easily installed in the trunk or other place on a vehicle. It requires a standard 12-volt constant power supply (available on all cars) and can be installed within 30 seconds if the included cigarette-lighter adapter is used. An antenna is magnetically mounted on the trunk or roof of the vehicle and resembles a cellular phone antenna.

Service plans for 10-20.com start at as little as $20 per month for a daily status report with a one-time equipment charge of $995. More frequent reporting plans at 3 hour, 1 hour, and 30 minute intervals are also available and charges can be billed to any major credit card.

About 10-20.com

Based in Laurel, Maryland, 10-20.com is a privately held company formed in 2001. It provides intracontinental vehicle tracking services for individuals, organizations, and small commercial firms across North America and the surrounding regions. “10-20.com” refers to the radio shorthand “10” codes, where “What’s your 10-20?” means “What is your current location?” More details are available on the company’s web site: http://www.10-20.com/

old broad looking for good advice...

I sold my house in Toronto yesterday. To a young woman who has very little furniture - I am thinking of asking her to babysit my furniture and give me a mailing address for 8 or 9 months. Buy some kind of a small easy expensive campervan pack up my little dog, my computer, my tv, a cell phone and see where it takes me. One little catch is that I am 68 years old and haven't owned or driven a car for 10 years [shaky confidence] although I, of course, have my license. Have I lost my mind? Any advice more than welcome but especially on what kind of camper to look at.

Betty, I don't think you've lost your mind but I do advise thay you be carefull traveling alone. As for the type of camper, it really depends on your budget and how confortable you want to be, or on how unconfortable you can tolerate. without knowing you or your style its difficult to suggest a unit so I recommend you just cruz the Internet examining different models. There's alot to take into consideration; where do you want to travel too, how much food to carry, sleeping accommodations, do you need a built-in kitchen....it goes on and on, and only you know what you will confortable it. But is always boils down to $$$$$.

Good luck.

Money is really not a problem - well - within reason. I have been looking at campervans on the net - ie: the Roadtrek? Wouldn't wan't to drive anything larger than a van. Can I take my emac and be on line? Do you use a satellite dish for TV and get all the channels? How the heck does the toilet get emptied? Does the battery have to be charged? What are the horror stories?

Re: thanks Ben

by

Betty I'll try to answer your questions:

Can I take my emac and be on line?
Yes, but only if you install a means to get on the
Internet. A two-way satellite system is the best
solution, but these run approx. $7000.00. You could get
one installed on the roof of the campervan. It requires
a space 56 inchs by 40 inchs wide. The unit lays flat on the roof until you want to get on the Internet. You
then control the dish positioning by way of a software
program that runs on your computer. However, I don't
believe that it will work on an emac. The programs were
originally developed for the government, they have now
found there place to the consumer market but the software only runs on PCs since the government does not own too many emacs.

Do you use a satellite dish for TV and get all the channels?
I am in the process of purchasing my next motor home,
a 37 foot Class A Mountain Aire. I plan to have a
satellite dish installed for both Internet and TV
access and work as I travel.

How the heck does the toilet get emptied?
Typically, toilets get emptied at RV parks, camp-
grounds or by manually connecting the appropriate size hoses between the toilet holding tank and the sewer intake at a residential or commercial building.

Does the battery have to be charged? Well, depending on the type of RV, camper or whatever, some have
solar panels on the roof which charge the battery, on other vehicles, the battery gets charged much the same way as in your car, from the alternator.

What are the horror stories? I'm not sure in what part of the country you're planning to travel in but for the most part it's fairly plesant, exspecially here in California. There are lots of friendly RV folks out there on the road, but you can always run across some weird people. It really depends on where you travel. It always more fun to travel with a friend.

Hope this helps.
cheers,
Ben

Is there a place to get an extra fuel tank installed or replace the existing one for a larger one on a 2002 Dodge Quad cab, short box, gas engine without spending an arm and leg fro it.

Internet on the Road

by

We have recently begun full-timing ONLY because we are able to use the internet at high-speed in our coach. We have a virtual office setup that provides 2-way high-speed internet access, phone/fax capabilities, a wireless network, VPN support and printers. All via satellite with no phone lines or roaming!

As a result I launched a company to provide the same freedom to other coach owners who want to stay connected but use their coach a lot more. Contact me for more information and I would be happy to explain.

looking for info on mobile office

by

I I've just read you posting on RVComputing and was very intreged. I'm a contractor who travels from site to site from 3 to 6 months at a time. I'm tired of stroing or shipping all my stuff around and staying in extended stays. I'm thinking about purchasing a Mobile home and just living in it. My only consern is what it would cost me a month for satilite TV and Broadband and installation. Also does it work everywhere? I could end a contract and have to be looking for work. I would rather do that from a lake some where.

The best solution on the market is from Ground Control -- www.atgroundcontrol.com.

Others, Skycasters and OptiStream also offer complete
solutions. They all use the MotoSat remote controlled
satellite dish, receive and transmit modems. The modem
connection to the computer is by way of USB. Does
not permit connecting more than one computer unless
you install a dedicated routing computer.

Ground Control offers a complete 2-way system for
approx. $7500.00 (their IG-2500) including MotoSat
dish, modems, the DataStorm dish positioning software
and Network Access Point routing computer. Also offer
the best support. Bandwidth pricing is competitive.

Mobile Internet solutions for RVer's

by Kathy

There are alot of companies out there claiming they can provide wireless internet access one way or another. I have tried a couple, one I did not like was using my phone as a modem to connect which does eat up my minutes and then if the voice traffic is high then I cannot connect to the internet and it is pretty slow. I think I have finally found a great solution, a wireless modem card that plugs into my laptop and then you have a data account. All the major phone carriers have their own cards and different plans to meet your needs. I went with Sprint and bought my card from
http://www.pcrv.us
a great website that tells all about wireless, unlike some other companies I have talked to these people know what they are talking about! Anyway, choose which carrier you want to go with, buy the modem, they have computer hardware for sale too, (may get a new laptop from them)then they activate your account for you, I got my card the next day--the price of the card is $299 but well worth the $. I have had no problems getting online at all and I am getting 115kbps! pretty fast speed for wireless. There are different data plans to choose from depending on how much time you spend online, I signed up for the unlimited plan which usually runs about $100 with most of the carriers.
So if you are on the road alot and need to get online this is the best solution I have come across so far that really works!

Oil Changes?

by

Is there anyplace to get oil changes other than Ford/RV dealers?

The Ford dealer has a three-week waiting list; also charges an $80 basic charge in addition to the actual oil change/lube-about $25 additional.

The RV dealer charges about $65--but appointments and cannot get RV back on time.

Regular car/truck service centers have doors/ceilings too low for my new 2001 Four Winds 5000 22rk, which has a height of 10'8".....

Also recommended that oil be changed at 3,000 mi intervals! V10

Any ideas

RV 2-way internet connection

by Bill

I keep hearing Datastorm is a 2-way satellite internet connection but their site says that a phone line is still required . The first time I read their site it said the 2-way system would be ready in January 2002. Mean time it cost an arm and leg for a system that requires a phone line. There aren't any phone lines where I won't to RV . Another message said to contact a certain person by email or phone for info on a 2-way system for $600. I sent an email and only got back a name and phone # to call. No Info !! Does anybody have any real info. All I seem to get so for is HYPE.

RV Park - Internet Access Query

by

We are exploring (doing the market research) on the feasibility of offering high speed wireless internet connectivity for RV Parks. We have a solution in hand to build a secure, controlled access, wireless LAN (WLAN) at any RV Park desiring the service that would allow RVers full access to the Internet at 256K+ over a wireless connection from the comfort of their RVs. Technically it is feasible and we know that some of the RVers out there would like it, but is there enough of a demand in the RV community to make a business out of it? We don't know. Would like to get some feedback through out website RVer survey form.

This would work somewhat similar to system being installed in coffee shops around the country.

2-Way Satellite Internet Access for only $650 (system) and $60 a month

by

Save money while you camp!!

by

Hello everyone,

I am pretty new to camping, but a friend recently told me about Passport America - 50% Discount Camping club. I was interested so I called them up and spoke to a salesperson at length. She persuaded me to join. I received their package (i.e. Directory, Membership card, membership letter, decals, brochures). I have to say that what I see is pretty impressive. I was skeptical at first, but its working. I have already saved money. I paid $44.00 for a one year membership and I have saved over $100.00 just from staying at a few parks. They have a wonderful and very informative website (www.CampSave50percent.com). They also have this referral program where I can even make money by telling people about Passport America! If anyone here has any questions or comments, I will be glad to answer and maybe help.

Have a Great Day! God Bless!

Sincerely,
Michael Robertson

Factory was sympathetic but could not prevail over dealer service dept priorities--says they tried.

97 PROWLER TRAILER LEAKING - LOOKING FOR OTHERS!!

by

Our fiberglass trailer was seamed in 3 pieces instead of being solid. The trim pieces are coming off and water is leaking in. The trailer is now beginning to rot inside. Anyone else with the same problem? They only made the trailers this way for 2 years, then I guess they realized it was a bad idea. Please inform anyone that you know with a fiberglass trailer with seams to check their trailer and then contact me at langelfsh@aol.com. I am in Pittsburgh and Fleetwood says it would cost $8,000.00 to fix and that I was responsible for 25%. We are not at all responsible it is a manufacturer defect!!

Lori
PS I did see another trailer with the same problem. When they went to tow it, a large piece of fiberglass flew off. Could be quite dangerous!!!!

Save 20% On Gasoline And Use Your Computer To Make More

by Mobilone

With the cost of gasoline rising every week, I went out and found a way I could save some money at the pumps. I joined a group where I save 20% every time I fill up. Not only that, since I use my computer on the road, this program also gives me the ability to make money from my RV. Read all about it at http://www.mobilone.appgas.com Finally we have a way to fight high gas prices.

Hensley Hitch

by

Hello,

We would like to know what you decided/found out? We are considering purchase of a Hensley Hitch and because it is not inexpensive we hope to make the right decision. I recently (April) had major heart surgery and am interested in something where I do not have to lift such a heavy hitch ball and thought the Hensley might have lighter parts that required removal.

Any response you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Richard Riddle

Hensley Hitch Experience

by

First the good side- the Hensley Arrow hitch more or less does what the suppier claims, i.e. eliminates sway, which was my biggest concern because I am towing a 30 ft TT with a Mercury Grand Marquis car. The trailer is lite wt. design- 4100 lbs empty. When a truck goes by I feel it but do not feel threatened or in danger. I have not had any fishtailing in over 3000 miles of towing.
The hitch enables taking turns with the pivot point a bit outboard so that the trailer wheels clear obstructions more easily. this was appreciated when namoevring in trailer parks.

The bad side- I find it difficult to back the car to get the connection bar into the square hole. It is like threading a needle with a car instead of a hand.
I tried 2 metal guide posts on magnetic bases but it did not help as much as I expected. The problem is that the axis of the vehicle must be aligned with the axis of the trailer, so it is more than getting the bar into the hole.
I installed the hitch myself but needed help to lift if out of the trunk of the car to the trailer. Even the connection bar is heavy to lift from a deep car trunk.

Other advice- if your initial setting of the hitch springs does not give the right feel when driving, stop and adjust appropriately. When you find the right setting, remember it. By trial and error get the settings of the electric brake controller right.
The extra length of the hitch may result in your safety chain not being long enough. I solved this by buying two one ft. length chains and putting each thru the loops on the car receiver, then connecting to them.

Good luck.

2 way satellite on Rv?

by

From what I've read, neither Direcway and Starband allow hooking a 2 way dish to an Rv. I know people have Internet Satellite access on their Rv's, so can anyone tell me if there is a different company who provides this, or how this is done?
Thanks.

2 way satelite for RVs is here!

by

Hi,

It is done with a dish called Datastorm. I am a Beta tester and absolutely love it!

For those interested in more information about high speed Net access in your RV, please have a look at my site:

http://www.dustyfoot.com/Dish.html

I have lots of pics of the Datastorm and a comprehensive list of FAQs.

This system allows me complete freedom to work over the Internet from the road. Cost is $5000 and $89/mo. Set-up is about $400. Should be available to the public very soon.

Cheers,

RE: Mobile Internet

by

We are exploring (doing the market research) on the feasibility of offering high speed wireless internet connectivity for RV Parks. We have a solution in hand
to build a secure, controlled access, wireless LAN (WLAN) at any RV Park desiring the service that would allow RVers full access to the Internet at 256K+
over a wireless connection from the comfort of their RVs. Technically it is feasible and we know that some of the RVers out there would like it, but is there enough of a demand in the RV community to make a business out of it? We don't know. Would like to get some feedback through out website RVer survey
form.

This would work somewhat similar to system being installed in coffee shops around the country.

Wireless Internet in campgrounds

by

That is a great idea! I wish more campgrounds thought along those lines.

Actually, you can do it with off-the-shelf equpiment known as WiFi (802.11B). You can put a few strategically placed omni-directional antennas placed around the site. Then your guests just need a standard wireless network card. You could even rent them at the desk for a small fee and/or depost. . .

Of course, the campground itself will need some sort of high speed access, either by cable modem, DSL, T1 line, satellite etc. But if you can get a connection to the Net, sharing it over wireless is pretty basic and all standardized nowdays. The fatter pipe you have, the faster everyone can surf. You'll also need to check your ISP contract to make sure you can share the connection (as you are basically reselling bandwidth) They'll probably charge you a bit more than a regular user, but it would be worth it.

There will be more wireless Parks

by

We spent the winter in Gulf Shores at Island RV Retreat who had broard band available to their guests in the the office building with plans to hard wire to a limited number of sites. I think I convinced him to put wireless in for the rest of the sites. At any rate, I have permission to put my wireless router in the office next year and have servie in my RV if he does not have the park wireless installed.

Both of our children have wireless in their homes which we use in our RV out side. We just need to talk this wonderful technology up and we will eventually have more coverage.

Follow-up: 2-Way Internet Access via dish only $650 for system

by

Need dedicated Phone Line for Telecommunication job

by

Need dedicated phone line.
My Telecommuting job requires that I log on for a minimum of 4 hrs daily. Unfortunately, cellular phones are not dependable enough, and my Call Center requires that I only use a "dedicated" phone...meaning a laid phone line.
Satelite phones are too expensive. Is there anyone who knows if the the RV campgrounds allow phone use for some time, AND are not prohibitively expensive (I make $9 hr...if the phone line is $5 an hour that obviously cannot work!)
Has anyone had any experience with this dilemna?
thankyou,
sharon

Mail Forwarding

by paula

There are several things you can do. First, get a bank account that allows internet access. Then set up to pay your bills via the internet. For instance, I authorized the phone company bill to be automatically deducted from my account. They send me an email and I can go to there website and see the bill. I also have a credit card bill that I pay online. That one sends me an email, I go to their site and authorize the payment each month.
I also found an online bank in Texas that allows you to have your bills sent to them. Haven't used this nor do I know anyone that has.
Next go to http://www.google.com/ and type in mail forwarding. You will find lists of places that forward mail, also one that tells you what to look for in a service. I have heard that the sevice provided by www.escapees.com is excellent.
Hope this helps.

Ok I am 18 and a Private pilot. I am living with my Grandparents in the country and its about that time to get out of the house. I invested most of my money into my plane and i want to get a trailer out behind my grandparents house. a year or two ago my uncle purchased a Trailer and left it here for a few months and i hung around in it. the problem is I want to find what kind of trailer it was because i want that model. It had a Full Show/Bath and Ducted A/C and a awning and Leveling Jacks. i have this rough floor plan. I might have left some stuff out http://www.geocities.com/link_3_3_8/blah.jpg
but it is relativly close... I very serious doubt i will get any feedback about this but if you could try i would definatly be thanks. I really loved this trailer and are considering contacting my uncle and buying it from him if i cant find another one.

Justin, the floorplan you mentioned did not show on my computer and I'm not sure why. But I do want to suggest that you enter 'RV Trailers' into your search engine (such as Google, Yahoo, etc.). Then just take some time looking through those sites. You just might find your trailer or one very similar. There's only so many ways you can arrange everything in a trailer and most of the manufacturers have more or less the same layouts as the others. Good luck to you.

I've been doing quite a bit of digging around lately, trying to find a way to stay online while I'm boondocking.

I've found it...

It really looks like the ticket for my needs...

But I can't afford it yet because it's about $5,000 for your initial investment, and around $100 per month for access.

They've finished their beta testing, and they're taking pre-orders now - with a projected release date of 01.02. Who knows if they're actually going to make it this month? Not me.

From the info on their website, they've got a winner on their hands. Check 'em out at:

http://www.motosat.com/index_001.htm

And, in case anybody is wondering, I have absolutely *no* connection with them at all (though I'd love to have the system and a pocketful of Motosat stock right now!!!!) <);-}

It's definitely worth a look at what they've got to offer.

steve

Notebook Screen Glare in daylite

by

Any hints on better viewing of a notebook screen during daylight while underway. I use a mapping software with GPS and would like to improve viewing quality. So far I'm thinking of a child size umbrella positioned to block out direct daylite to the screen.

Monitor Hood

by Scott Whitney

Why not make a hood out of cardboard that goes over the screen. I use something similar on my camcording when videoing at the beach. Larger hoods are on professional video monitors. I'll probably do the same when I get my laptop on the bus dash.

Glare Fix

by

I'm sure you can't possibly mean you're driving and trying to look at your computer...? One of us drives and the other has the computer set up on the dining table; if there's too much glare we just pull the shades.

RVing Videos

by

I recently received a set of new RVing instructional videos as a gift that are really good. My buddy tells me they came from a site called rvtvdirect.com. Thought I'd pass it along.

Full Time RVing?

by Carl

Hello fellow RVers,

I just ran into this site:

http://www.primeprofits.com/rvincome

They offer an e-book that shows you
ways to earn an income while rving,
I was wondering if anyone has purchased
it yet, I really love taking vacations
in my RV and I'd love to earn some money
doing it too so I am interested in this
material but I would love to hear your
opinions first before I make a purchase.
Thank you for any input you can give
this old man. :-)

Want to buy a Power tailgate lift for a Class A

by Ron

Wish to modify my class A motorhome and add a rear power lift to lift a motorcycle into the Class A. Who makes this type of lift. I've seen them on new models of class C units.

Lot's of hauling space, can handle > 4000 pounds of cargo. Unit is located in Cahrlotte NC (not close to the West Coast). Let me know if you are interested.
