KOP show

There couldn't have been a more beautiful and relaxed setting for a Kip solo show other than the park in KOP. The park was down a little hill from the Police station (Bab's wouldn't let me nab the sign for the show, dammit)! There was a pond behind the Gazebo where Kip performed and a walking path that circled in back of the pond and let to a really fun playground!

The crowd brought lawn/beach chairs, blankets, coolers . . it was much more a family setting than that of the raucious Winger shows, we all know so well. It was soooooo relaxing.

Kip came on around 8pm, right as the sun started going down. Yanno, I'm not good with keeping the exact songlist, but here are some of what I remember him performing:

Headed For A Heartbreak
Who's the One
Easy Come Easy Go
Madelaine
Nothing
How Far Will We Go
Where Will You Go
Can't Get Enough (Bluesy version)
Steam
Blind Revolution Mad
Free
Seventeen

Kip had asked if anyone had a ventilator - and after he took a couple hits off of one, his voice was really strong and he held notes for what seemed like minutes.

After the sun went down and the bugs came out, Kip was enthralled by a couple of bugs doing the horizontal mambo on his tuning pegs.

There were a lot of hardcore Kip fans in the park . . .it was such a very different setting than I've ever seen Kip perform in -- very, very cool.

It was great seeing Susan, Coleen, Kim, Sue, Sandy, and Rob. And, of course no Kip roadtrip would be complete without my partner in crime, Bab's!

There was only one slight mishap which involved Coleen, Susan and myself, a stinky bathroom, and the Mad Crapper . . .yanno, Coleen, I bet the Mad Crapper was onto you checking out her sandals under the stall and changed them before she went back to the show so you couldn't call her out on the foul stench she left permanently eminating from the ladies room!!!

Linda, I hope you were able to hear when I called you from the show!!!

Well, I'm heading back to Chi-town today . . .I've had a flippin' blast in Philly and partying my ass off with Bab's and Sandy. What happened in Philly (particularly Saturday night) .. . . .stays in Philly!!!

KOP show

August 4 2008, 4:05 PM

Tina,

I loved reading your review! It is a perfect description for the night!! I absolutely, positively LOVED this show! I left with the best positive vibe that has transcended into "today" and I am humming and singing all the songs either out loud or in my head all day long!

I totally agree with you about the venue and people there. It WAS more families and very relaxing! Very, very cool! Of course, this place is about 20 minutes from my house so it was extra special for me.

As you know, I invited a lot of friends and family to come out. They had never heard Kip live and loved him! My husband was very impressed and being the total musical snob that he is, that is saying a lot....trust me!

I too loved the set. Blue Suede Shoes was incredible. Dare I say, that I almost cried! What the heck, I do dare to say it and I will!LOL! Yes, saying that I almost cried is a bit corny, but I was not at my coolest last night. As you said, Tina, it is really hard to be a "cool rocker chick" with my husband, kids and family tagging along and not to mention dragging the family cooler, beach chairs and my unforgettable humongous ADDRESS/PHONE book around!!LOL!!!

So corny feelings or not, really all that matters is that the show was amazing and Kip sounded awesome! His talent never ceases to amaze me and by the sound of the applause and "whoohooos"....I think it goes without saying that everyone there was in "Winger Heaven"!!! It was great seeing all of the fans.

I encourage anyone reading this that attended, please call the venue and let them know how much you enjoyed Kip and would love to see him back there again. Shows/venues like this are really special but in danger of not continuing. So, please consider calling and letting them know what a great time it was and how much you liked Kip's performance!

Did anybody get pictures?

I'd loved to seen the expression on Kip's face when he saw those bugs...

It was a lot of fun last night and Kip was great! Here's a couple of additions to the setlist - Blue Suede Shoes and Cross. I do have some pics and will post them and the OH ones to pictrail later this week.

Kim, Coleen, Tina, Bridgette, Sandy, Pam and Rob it was awesome seeing you all again and taking in another show with you all. I think with Sandy's family and friends there Kip will get additions to his fanbase!

Yeah, the mad crapper. Coleen was very brave!

I'm happy that you all had a great time in KOP! So wish I could've been there.

Tina - Sorry, but I didn't get your phone call! It never registered! DAMN!!! Thanks for trying, tho. That was sweet of you.

So, did anyone have a chance to talk to Kip after the show??

Hahahahaha!!! Tina...the Mad Crapper!!!!! I think she must've slipped to her car and changed shoes!!!! I never did see those shoes again!!! As for the show...it was awesome!!!! As Tina said, not the usual setting that we are used to, but definately awesome all the same!!!! I don't have a whole lot to add to Tina's review, as it's exactly what I would've said. Hope he does it again next year. And kudos to Sandy for dragging all her friends and family to the show. Kip got a pretty decent turnout, more than I expected for a Sunday night, and definately alot of hard core fans. The guy behind us was singing so loud, I think he actually thought he was Kip, hahaha. It was great seeing everyone and hopefully we'll get some more shows soon. The bug incident was definately priceless too, he seemed so relaxed and laid back, even stayed thru the end to meet and greet, gracious as always. Coleen

Just checking: Has anyone posted pictures from this gig yet? Sounds like it was one of those "perfect setting for a perfect show" sorta situations. I love it when that happens.
