Yeah, it's so true about Reb--man, on the Japan show--the string tapping solo! My Lord, he's fast! I always though EVH was a great tapper and still do, but Reb taps circles around him! The "Making of Pull/IV" dvds show Reb's brilliant gift for pulling catchy guitar riffs out of nowhere (he is also hysterically funny in these vids. Love that!). Brad Gillis of Night Ranger has always been my favorite guitarist ever, and I was pleased to read that Reb is also a huge fan of Brad's and got to tour with him in NR last year. You can tell that Reb's and Brad's playing styles are very similar on their solo albums in particular, but they're also distinctly different as well. I love them both. Reb is the "who I'd like to meet" person on my MySpace page.
After watching "The Making Of Pull", I am convinced that the Winger boys are some of the most talented musicians that have ever walked the planet. They play, what...5 different music styles (hard rock, death metal, Motown/funk, jazz, Old World stuff) and play them all WELL! That was jaw-dropping. I especially loved the jazz fusion/lounge lizard version of "Blind Revolution Mad" and the bizarre Middle Eastern-sounding ditty they played during the end credits. Too funny!
I just wish there was more recorded material (video-wise) available out there. It'd be fantastic if Kip decides to release a full-length vid of the making of FTMTTS. Saw a couple of studio snippets on YouTube and I was hooked. That kind of behind-the-scenes stuff is fascinating to me and I Can't Get Enough if it.
Sidenote: Um, does Kip perform "One Big Game" in his solo shows? If he does, then please give me a heads-up, because a change of underclothing will certainly be in order if I ever hear him sing that one live...
