I was lucky enough to take in two Kip solo shows last weekend. He rocked both shows! So great! Has there really ever been a bad show? No!

In Pittsburgh, the HRC was packed as its been the last two times Ive seen Kip or Kip/Reb there and this time was no different. Kip mentioned the Steelers Super Bowl win a couple of times and of course the crowd goes crazy! During "Miles Away" he invited people up on stage and they all seemed to enjoy the chance to sing with him. After Kip and Reb sang "17"; Fiona joined them for three songs. "Talk To Me" from her her first album, "Youre Sexing Me" and they covered "Stay With Me". "Youre Sexin Me" was re-written somewhat to be "Youre Sexting Me" because people text now. Fun gig that night and they looked like they were having a good time on stage. Hope they will do that again soon!

Cardos was one of the best clubs Ive been in lately. Its a big club, lots of room to move around which is what I like. Kip was terrific Sat. night. Probably one of the best of his solo shows Ive seen. On Saturday night Sandy was invited to sing "Miles Away" with him. She was great! After listening to her music on myspace it was a treat to hear her voice live. I hope there are vids out there from both nights.

The setlists in no particular order. I can never remember the order. You think I would by now, huh? And I hope I got every song. Not sure if I did.

Pittsburgh -

Cross
Who's the One
BRM
Free
Headed for a Heartbreak
Rainbow
Runaway

*The Lucky One

Chillicothe -

Pretty much the same as above but with these additions -

I took a few pics of both nights. My HRC ones did not come out so well, but here is a pic from Saturday night. happy.gif

Great review and photo Susan! Thank you! Yes, the shows were great and I agree that the Cardo's show was the BEST solo show I've seen....he was SO good!!! The only other song I can remember him doing at Cardo's is How Far Will We Go happy.gif I LOVE that song! Runaway too...and that was AWESONE!!! As was Blue Suede Shoes....WOW!!! They all were fantastic!

It was a lot of fun to see all the girls on stage singinf Miles Away with him (you go Tina!!). And to see Sandy sing wth him the next night was awesome! Thanks again Susan! You rock!!

RE: Pittsburg and Chillicothe

Kip was on fire this past weekend. He and Reb did such a great job and Fiona was incredible. How such a large voice can come out of a body that small is beyond me. She was inspiring!

I have always wanted to sing with Kip and Friday I finally got the chance (thanks to Buffie dragging my butt onstage). It was a blast and an experience that I won't soon forget.

Seeing a Kip solo show is something everyone should do at least once in their life. When you add Reb into the mix, it is magic times 10. Those two play off of each other and compliment each other in a way that few musicians can imitate. True geniuses at work. When they launched into "The Lucky One", I couldn't believe it. My favorite song from PULL!

In Chillicothe, we were treated to two opening acts: Rok Hollywood (a pretty good 80's style rock band......WITH HAIR!) and an acoustic trio (can't remember the name). The acoustic trio did a bunch of songs including a Staind tune ("I'm on the Outside") and "Broken" by Seether. All in all, they did pretty well although I missed hearing a female vocal on "Broken".

When Kip took the stage, he was ON FIRE! As smooth a performance as I've ever seen with him. He was in the groove and really seemed energized by the crowd. When he asked for requests, I shouted out "Runaway" and danged if he didn't just play it! I've been waiting to hear that song played live and he didn't disappoint.

The best part of the weekend, however, was getting together with the Winger family. I finally got to meet Sandy (who has an AMAZING voice) and Coleen. And it was great to see Kim and Susan, Deeandra and Tina, Jane and Kevin and Greg and Dustin again. Our group took over almost a whole section ourselves! Hopefully we'll all get the chance to do it again when the new Winger CD comes out. Woohoo!

Pics will follow later......

recaps -- wow

Thanks for the recaps, everyone. It sounds like magic from Kip & company over the weekend. Just stiffens my resolve to get to one of his next series of shows, wherever and whenever they may be!

I concur with all the words of praise for Kip's performances at the Pittsburgh and Ohio shows. I've seen do Kip solo shows have a million times (it seems) and I honestly believe these 2 shows were his best, most animated and most enthusiastic shows ever!

Thanks Deeandra, but honestly I was NOT singing - I would have gotten the hose if I even attempted to sing any song. I was directing the cute young girls up there with their audition for Winger Idol! It was so much fun seeing these gals up there singing their hearts out with Kip . . and with me encouraging them that they're the next BIG thing, I bet I see them in the auditions for next years American Idol - LMAO!!!!

One thing I must mention about Chillicothe was that someone requested he do Junkyard Dog . .and DAMMIT if he had a second guitar tuned properly for it, he woulda done it. But, he did explain that he'd have to re-tune his guitar to play that song and then belted out the chorus - I mean it was ****ING AMAZING!!!!

Sandy, you totally blew me away!!! I had tears in my eyes watching you in all your glory on-stage with Kip!! Your voice is beautiful, you are beautiful inside and out!!! And, I'm just so proud!!! (tears)

I also proved to myself that I can roadtrip with walking pneumonia - nothing will stop TinaBop from hanging with her Girles!!! But, DAYUM this recovery has been tough!

Wow!! So happy to hear you gals had so much fun! Wish I could've gone, but this is the busiest time at work for me.

Sandy: would've loved to see you on-stage singing with Kip! Any YouTube of THAT by any chance??? wink.gif

great shows and thanks

March 7 2009, 11:01 AM

I agree with everyone here.....the shows were awesome! I enjoyed every minute that Kip, Reb and Fiona were on stage in Pittsburgh and every minute that Kip was performing at the Ohio show. It is always an honor to witness such greatness! I know that statement sounds a bit over the top and dramatic....but I am speaking from the heart here and it is just the way I am. wink.gif

The music is incredible as I am sure you all will agree and Kip is an amazing artist. More talent in his pinky than most artists have in their entire body. What has always drawn me in is the intelligence and complexity of Kip's compositions and his performances are of such a high caliber obviously because he is also an exceptional musician and performer. His voice.....wow.....perfect. His high notes were powerful and right on....the lows were passionate and tender and they just cut right to your soul. His vocal ability never ceases to amaze me. Obviously....as I have mentioned on numerous posts...he is an inspiration to me vocally and artisticly.

So all that I have written is very serious, right? Well, just wanted to also say that it was and always is a lot of FUN to see him/Winger perform and I hope you all get an opportunity to see him and/or Winger live. I truly treasure these experiences because you just never know how many there will be and if I can continue to attend. So, I am grateful for the shows and I hope that Kip/Winger continue to put themselves out there for their fans. happy.gif

Thank you to all of you who have expressed kind words to "me".....it is greatly appreciated. It was a very cool thing to happen and I enjoyed it very much and most of all....it was fun!
