Kip's charities?

Hi, all,

I had a thought while sifting through plans for this year's tax return and hoped to get some feedback. Since I've relied heavily on music to get through some tough times this year and Kip's has been a constant, I thought I'd make a charitable donation in his honor. It won't be an earth-shattering amount, but I want to do something nice in return for the comfort his music has brought me.

Any ideas on a cause or organization he's known to support?

Thanks.

Hi Kim, Wow, that's a very nice idea happy.gif I know he's done some shows in support of charities, but his support for our troops is very evident as well, especially given the fact he was honored by the Military and the US Government in support of his song Blue Suede Shoes.

My first thought for you is rather than actually donate to a charity, you could use this money to send our troops Kip's music....in particular Winger IV since it was done in honor of our troops. Really, to me, there is no better gift, than the gift of music (especially Kip's) and this way, not only are you supporting our troops, you are also supporting Kip's music.

Just a thought for you to ponder...there are many organizations (Operation Shoe Box, etc) that will gladly send packages to our troops. I have actually done this myself in the past with Kip's/Winger's CD's and I received a letter of thanks from a soldier. It was very rewarding to me, to know that the music touched them and helped them through the most difficult and pressing times of their lives.

If you are interested in doing this, the shopping link on my main pagehttp://www.kipwingerrocks.com goes directly to his webstore.

Your idea of donating to a charity is a very thoughtful and kind thing for you do.....very nice happy.gif

Good Idea

Weren't some of the royalties from "How Far Will We Go" earmarked for a homeless shelter or something similar in Beatrice's memory? (Mind is slowly going...)

great ideas!

Hi, all,

Thanks for all the great ideas. The military did occur to me, but you really fleshed it out, Deeandra. It's a natural, since I was a young military wife and mom during Gulf War I. Maybe I'll split up the sum I earmarked for this -- send some "IV" CDs and give a donation to charity. My daughters and I supported two young soldiers a few years ago with letters and care packages, and it was incredibly rewarding.

Thanks again. I'll let you all know what I decide. Gotta get the check first!
