Season One of Legends and Lyrics (the show Kip did) has begun on airing on PBS, so I wanted to send out a remider to you to check your local listings for time and station information. It is tailored to different markets and currently is airing in my area. Since it's being aired at different times, in different markets, I don't have a full schedule. So far, Kip's show has not aired here, but when I see that it's scheduled, I'll post here.
Aw, Deeandra, once again you've brought some sunshine to my day!
I watched the promo and was delighted to see KW in a new light. Not so much the "Seventeen" clip, but dancing with the female artist. Very sweet! Then, adding even more delight were the clips of Kenny Loggins, Phil Vassar and Richard Marx -- some of my faves. It looks like a really cool show. Thanks to your heads' up, I'll definitely be checking my local listings.
Sad to say, it's not airing ANYWHERE in Virgina. I swear we're cursed. The closest station I found was UNC-TV and that's in the Carolinas. No way could I convince my in-laws to record it...they'd butcher it for sure.
Maybe somewhere online like hulu.com or something might have it...will research...
Of course, if they went the way I thought it was going to go, Kip's particular episode (#105 which I assume will be the fifth week) would have aired the week I'm busy with my convention. LOL...my luck...!

Thanks Deeandra....I will check my local listings. Looks like a great series....I would love to see them all...
So cool that Kip was with Susan Tedeshi(spelling ?) I LOVE her....one of my favorite female singer/songwriters!!!! I used to cover a couple of her tunes.....she is awesome...nice to see Kip doing his thing in that atmosphere.
Thanks Deeandra! Looks the the L&L store is open now too. They have shows #1 and #2 for sale, so the episode Kip is on should be for sale at some point.
I can't find any listings here either....but I will be getting it SOMEHOW! Also John Waite is on later in the season....two of my faves? I am a happy lil' camper today!
I couldn't find it on our local PBS stations schedule so I emailed them and found out that our area won't be airing this until May. Guess I'll just have to wait a little longer......
Great news about the L&L store, Susan. I'll have to check it out to see if I can get the episode for my collection. I loved the part in the trailer where Kip was dancing with Susan Tedeschi. Very cool!

My pleasure gals! I know how much we would all enjoy seeing this show since music is something we all love, especially Kip's
That's awesome Chessie! I was going to tell you all that the PBS website (nor my local one) show this show as airing, BUTm when I went onto my cable box and did a search on the show, they actually ARE scheduled to air. In fact, two of the shows have already recorded but I haven't had a chance to watch them yet. I don't think Kip is on these, but my DVR is set to record all broadcasts. With that said, if you can't find it on the local PBS website, check your actual cablebox guide....you just might find it's there
Susan, thanks so much for the store info.....I hadn't even thought to look there
From what I saw on the Legends & Lyrics website, Kip's episode is listed as #105. I've seen this kind of shorthand before for other series, and it usually translated into Season 1, Episode 5. So, if they're airing them in order...Dee has 3 more weeks before she sees himself.
Meanwhile, I wait until June...ARGGHH!!!

Locally filmed 'Legends & Lyrics' airs Saturday on LPB
Two years ago, director and executive producer Will Mitchell shot three pilot episodes for the Legends & Lyrics public TV series at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in downtown Shreveport. Saturday, the first locally shot episode airs on LPB.
I grew up on the Louisiana Hayride, said Mitchell, a Many native who today lives in Franklin, Tenn. Its just really close to my heart that I got to kick it off down there.
Saturdays hourlong program airs at 11 p.m. and features performances by Michael Martin Murphey, Pam Tillis and Ron Sexsmith. The show, produced through Mitchells company Song-Writers in the Round, brings together performers who write their own songs with songwriters whove gotten less acclaim for their craft. It features a mix of genres.
This is honoring the creators of song, Mitchell said. Everything that is out there across the entire globe is driven by these song poets.
The shows first run include eight episodes five of which were shot in Nashville. Its been picked up by many public TV stations nationwide, and Mitchell is producing 10 new episodes for a fall run and 24 more for 2010.
Weve busy, busy beavers. I tell you! Mitchell said. While the show now shoots in Nashville, he wont rule out a return to Shreveport if the show becomes profitable. For now, theyve settled into a Masonic lodge in Tennessee. I would love to come back and shoot more shows down there. Its still to me one of the most significant places for music.
Viewers can see more of Shreveports Scottish Rite Cathedral on upcoming episodes.
On May 2, Legends & Lyrics will feature Susan Tedeschi, Kip Winger and James Slater. On May 16, it will feature Ed Bruce, Gordon Kennedy and Angela Kaset.
The shows first season, which began running in early April on LPB, continues through May 28.

Legends & Lyrics (Airing in Central Florida)

Looks like Kip's segment is set to air tonight (well, technically tomorrow - May 2nd 1am) on Brighthouse Channel 15, Station WDSC. Not sure I'll be up to watch it, but my DVR is set
So far, I have only been able to find this ONE airing....I've checked through my channel guide, and the only date that's listing Kip's name is May 2nd so if you are local, be sure to watch it or set to record it. I'd hate for you to miss it in case they don't air it again.
I just checked the program grid for our local PBS station WHYY, channel 12 and they are airing the Legends & Lyrics series every Sunday in May. Kip's episode #105 airs on May 31, 2009 at 11:00 pm.

Legends & Lyrics
May 2 2009, 4:44 PM
Okay so I'm really bummed out. Sat down to watch the episode I recorded which Kip was advertised as being on, and he's not on it. It's an episode they've already run They only showed two in my area with him on it, but neither one was with him. I'm glad we can at least buy the DVD. Hopefully that will be available soon.
Awwww....that is too bad, Deeandra. I agree, hope the DVD is available soon. I will have to let you all know if the shows that the local PBS is airing are really the shows they listed....hopefully.
Just some clarification for the airing of Legends & Lyrics here in the Philadelphia/NJ/Delaware area. The local PBS station is WHYY with channel 12 being the main station...please note that WHYY has several sub-channels so to speak and Legends & Lyrics is airing on Channel 12.2 (Comcast 257/FiOS 474) every Sunday at 11:00 pm.
The first show was airing last night with Kris Kristoferson and Patti Griffin.
"Y Arts
Over the air on 12.2 (Comcast 257, FiOS 474)
This 24/7 mix of local, national and global arts and culture programming includes WHYY's original weekly performing arts series On Canvas and On Stage at Curtis, PBS favorites such as Great Performances, Masterpiece and Soundstage, and a wide range of independent documentaries."
Awesome! Thanks for the info Sandy! I was also going to post that it appears Kip's show is airing here May 10th, so I'm thinking mybe they just had the program details incorrect this past weekend. My DVR is set, so hopefully this time, it airs

That stinks RG, I'm sorry I'm glad you can get it on DVD though. You guys can also go to http://www.locatetv.com, plug in your zip code and search for the show.
and not in his own mind, either--he totally deserves it. This was totally amazing! Actually, beyond amazing. Lots of fun; we do get to see some of Kip having fun as well as being so totally serious. And flummoxed...long story.
I sure hope he does this again, it was totally worth it!
