SOD: Dr. Baker dies

This week's SOD features interviews with Joe Mascolo, Galen Gering and Ari Zucker.

Rafe finds Dr. Baker, dead, in the Dominican Republic; Dr. Baker has been strangled. Rafe gets knocked out by someone, and a rope is put in Rafe's hand so that it will seem that he has committed the murder. Sami finds him there, and Rafe realizes he's being framed. Sami and Rafe get rid of the evidence and leave, but Sami finds a business card with Dr. Baker's lawyer's name on it. She takes the business card with her.

Meanwhile, in Salem, "Nicole starts bugging Stefano about that sleazy worm and asks Stefano to be blunt," Joe Mascolo says. Stefano tells Nicole that he'd be happy to be blunt: he tells her Dr. Baker is dead. Stefano coordinated the entire plot. Mascolo says, "[Stefano] put the word out, and it was taken care of."

Nicole remembers that Dr. Baker's lawyer has a "tell-all letter" which details the baby switch, and the letter is going to be sent to the authorities if Dr. Baker dies. Stefano asks Nicole if she can find out who Dr. Baker's lawyer is. Mascolo says that "[Stefano] invites the lawyer to the DiMera mansion and does a little number on him." The lawyer gives the letter to Stefano, and Stefano gives the letter to Nicole. Stefano threatens the lawyer and offers to pay him off if the lawyer leaves town. Stefano and Nicole think everything's all set.

However, Stefano leaves the room and the lawyer tells Nicole that two more letters are also in existence. One has already been mailed to Mia, and the other to Sami. Ari Zucker says, "It never goes Nicole's way. Something always goes wrong."

Nicole goes to visit Sami so that she can try to get the letter before Sami does. Sami takes Sydney outside while Nicole waits inside and gets the mail. Nicole does get the letter, but then Rafe comes in.

Meanwhile, Lexie is worried about Stefano. Mascolo explains that Stefano is betraying his son, "which is to me the biggest sin of all". Mascolo says that Stefano goes along with it because "he wants to see his son happy", and he feels they have everything taken care of.

However, at the end of the week, Chad goes into Mia's room to read her diary, and he sees the letter she received...

SOD: Sex Tape leaked

This week's SOD features a short interview with Molly Burnett.

This week, Philip proposes to Stephanie, and Melanie and Nathan arrive and hear her say yes. Molly Burnett says that Melanie "is heartbroken... but on some level, she knows that Philip loves Stephanie." Burnett says that Melanie also realizes that what she and Philip had was a "rebound thing" on some level.

However, then the motel manager puts the sex tape (of Melanie and Philip) on the internet. Burnett says that this is "horrifying" to Melanie: "She's trying to be a better person and if it gets out, everything she has tried to do to change her reputation goes to hell."

Melanie asks Brady and Arianna to help her, and they go to the motel manager, but as SOD says, "the damage is done." Burnett explains that not only is Melanie worried about what people in Salem will think, but "on top of that, she thinks Philip is going to think that she put it online on purpose."

SOD: Fall Preview

This week's SOD features an interview with Ken Corday. [All quotes below are from Corday.]

"Things are ramping up from a simmer to a slow burn. By the time we get to the end of September, boy is the pot going to be boiling over," says Ken Corday. "Too many things happen at one time. You can't miss a day."

Rafe/Sami/Nicole/EJ: Corday says this is "the story that drives the show": Rafe begins to figure out things about whose baby Sydney is. "That lights the fuse and the bomb will blow up once we get to the end of October/beginning of November". However, when Rafe "gets all of the goods", Meredith returns to town, and something happens to Rafe where he cannot tell Sami. Meredith is a "completely loose cannon".

Bo/Hope/Justin/Carly: "The fallout of the kidnapping is big." Hope turns to Justin and "leans on him" while things deteriorate between Bo and Hope. Hope leaves Bo, bringing Ciara with her. Justin doesn't want to get in the way of Bo and Hope's marriage, "but he is a friend". "And then Carly returns to town."

Chloe/Daniel/Kate: "Chloe wakes up, finally." Daniel proposes to Chloe, and they reunite, though Victor tries to stop it. "They will overcome the odds and cut to: happy couple." However, Kate has attempted murder, so she goes to Stefano for help. Will Stefano "rig the jury" to gain her acquittal?

Will/Mia/Chad: Mia tells Will that she had a baby. "It's a bump in the road in their relationship", but what will Chad do when he finds out?

Philip/Stephanie/Melanie/Nathan: Stephanie finds out that Melanie and Philip made love. "It's a very embarrassing time for both Philip and Melanie." Melanie tries to explain things to Stephanie, but she's not interested. She breaks up with Philip, because she's been tricked too many times. "Nathan and Melanie will bond after they're arrested for helping Daniel." One of them must move out of Maggie's house.

Arianna/Brady: "Victor is on to what Arianna is up to." However, Victor and the viewers don't know that Arianna has a "surprising" connection to someone else in Salem. Victor blackmails Arianna which upsets her greatly.

SOW: Stephanie, A Closer Look

Just when it looks like Phillip and Stephanie are en route to living happily ever after, the sex tape of Phillip and Melanie surfaces. Shelley Hennig talks proposals and porn.

SOW:Philip asks Stephanie to marry him again. Is she thinking that they really have a shot at making things work this time?

SH:Yes. Phillip is being up front with Stephanie and she notices this. She tells him that as long as they are honest with each other, their relationship can work. Phillip's also quit his job and cut himself off from the Kiriakis family for Stephanie and for himself. That was a big step for him to take.

SOW:Melanie and Nathan arrive just in time to witness Stephanie accept Phillip's proposal, and the foursome celebrate with champagne. Does Stephanie really buy Melanie's happy act?

SH:Steph can tell Melanie is a little off about it and a little jealous. Stephanie has an idea that maybe a little something went on between Melanie and Phillip when she and Phillip were broken up, but she's not concerned that it's any big deal, because she knows that Phillip loves her. Steph also feels badly about Nathan. They were starting to connect, and she can tell that he's upset as well. They're both covering, but Stephanie can't worry about that. She's too exicted about being engaged to Phillip again.

SOW:What happens next?

SH:Steph and Phillip go back to her place and make love. It's romantic and hot (laughs). It's always hot with Jay.

SOW:Afterward why does Stephanie call Melanie?

SH:I played it like Stephanie knew Melanie was jealous and covering earlier, that she knew Melanie was upset about them getting back together, because she has always had a thing for him. Stephanie calls to thank Melanie for being a bigger person, swallowing her pride, and at least pretending to be happy for her.

SOW:Meanwhile, the sleazy hotel manager releases the video of Melanie and Phillip having sex onto the internet. Is there any fallout for Stephanie?

SH:Yes. Steph goes to the hospital, and the candy stripers are being mean and rude and kind of making fun of her. They're saying things like, "Your ring looks a little rusty since the last time we saw it." Stephanie does understand why they are acting this way. Stephanie and Nathan walk into the break room and see some candy stripers looking at a computer screen and giggling. Nathan says, "Looks like you guys didn't invite us to the party."

SOW:Does Stephanie have any idea what's in store for her? Or that her reconciliation with Phillip is about to be blown to smithereens?

SH:No. She's still thinking, "I'm getting with Phillip, I've got my ring back on, and we're getting married. We're finally going to be together." In fact, Phillip just left for a job interview in Chicago, and Stephanie told him if he got it, she'd move there with him.
