A Lyric Wheel Challenge song fic held on NS’s 2nd Anniversary, Oct. 24, 2006.
The streets were bustling as she wove her way through the throngs of people trying to find the best winter fashions in Salem Place. Clutching her single purchase under her arm she scanned the streets to see if he was wandering around like he thought me may. Her cell phone alerted her to a text message, and she pulled it out of her purse to see who was sending her something.
Hey M’s, what’s up?
Grinning, she quickly began to send a message back to the sender, being careful not to give out too many details to the plans she’d been working on for weeks. She wasn’t sure what she’d do if he said no to her in the end, but she knew that she has to try.
Hey u! I'm having a party, wanna come?
Hitting reply she made her way towards her apartment, peeking inside the bag she held from time to time as she walked. It was unseasonably warm for late October and she tugged at the zipper of her vest to relive some of the discomfort she felt from the heat.
Um…no, i don't think so M’s
She frowned at his reply. Her plans couldn’t happen if he didn’t come over, and she knew she just couldn’t come right out and ask him. It wouldn’t have taken her this long to tell him how she felt if she felt braver about it. The party sham would be her only option. She began to furiously punch the buttons on her phone, wishing she had a way to just make him say ok with out telling him her true plans.
Oh, come on...it's gonna be lots of fun. You know me, I love fun!
Her own reply was babyish, but she didn’t know what else to say to him. He would enjoy himself if he came over, he’d been enjoying their casual dates for months now. But she didn’t want to casually date for the rest of her life, she wanted to find someone she could settle down with, and possibly even start a family; and she’d begun to think he might be the guy for the job.
i don't think i can come M’s. i said i’d pick up a shift 2nite.
She stabbed her keys into her apartment door as she read his most recent message, wanting to kill the person who was trying to make him work another extra shift. That would make 3 this week, and so far 2 broken dates because of it. Slamming the door she stuffed her bag into the coat closet and stormed to the couch.
this ain't just any kind of party, i think you’d like it, i really do.
Damn it Meems, you sound desperate even in a text message! Frowning, she leaned back into the soft cushions of her couch. It had been three days since she’d even seen him, and now it looked like all her hard work wasn’t going to pay off at all. Glancing at the kitchen island she groaned at the elaborate plate of desserts she’d made, all going to waste now.
Nah, I think I'll stay at home
Tears welled up in her green eyes and she wiped them away with the back of her hand. Her freshly manicured nails came into view and for a moment she considered removing the fresh nails and their pale pink paint; Paint chosen specially to match the new outfit she’d bought that afternoon. Her phone was blurry as she typed a final desperate message, hinting as to why she wanted to have a party in the first place.
It's gonna be really, really hot. R u sure u want to pass it up?
Closing her eyes, she allowed her body to react to her message, feeling her face flush a bright crimson red. If this didn’t get his attention, nothing would.
Across town, his face did the same. In the six months he had been dating Mimi, never had he known her to ever say a line. In fact, he had ever known her to do anything remotely racy at all. She was the perfect mix of sweet and sensual for him. Possibly too perfect, as they’d seemed to hit a bit of a standstill. He quickly replied to the message, shutting his phone so no one else could see what had been written.
Startin' to sound good, Thinkin', maybe I should
A slight smile crept across her face as he finally seemed to be showing some interest in her idea. A feeling of guilt washed over her, and she fought to push it away. “So what if he started to come around when you hinted to a possibility of sex Mimi, it’s not like you’ve never done it before now.” She exhaled the breath she’d been holding, and climbed off the couch and replied to him.
Yeah, there'll b lots of 1 on 1, Come on and join the fun if that’s what u want
Grinning he began to clean the grease from his hands. It didn’t matter what he’d planned on doing for the evening, he just had to go and be with her tonight. Maybe this would be just what they needed to do to get past the slump in their relationship. He knew deep down that sex wasn’t a cure to a problem, but it might be the jumpstart. His thumb flew over his phone keys as he sent her a quick reply.
Guess i could b there, What should i wear?
It doesn't matter what you wear 'cause it's only gonna be you and me there. She blushed at her own thoughts. Never in her life had she felt this way about a guy, and she didn’t want to let it slip past her. She grabbed the bag from the coat closet and nearly skipped to her bedroom. Pulling her sweater over her head and slipping out of her jeans she quickly pulled the lace negligee up over her body, marveling at how well it fit her. A silk robe completed the outfit, but she opted to leave it slung over the back of the couch until she needed it. The sexual innuendos had gotten his attention, and she figured another couldn’t hurt.
i think ud be sexy in your socks
He tried not to press his foot down onto the gas pedal of his car as he read the newest message from her. He’d found himself lately waking up from sleep, aroused to the point of pain after having intimate dreams about her. He’d gone no further than some pretty heavy make out sessions with her, but that didn’t stop him from imagining her. He stopped at a red light, and sent her a reply
Wear urs too, we could polish the floors
She slipped the plate of desserts into the fridge to cool as she checked his message. Of course she wasn’t wearing any socks, but satin slippers would do the trick. She sent a reply, as she shut the fridge door.
what will we do in case that anybody knocks
I’ll kill anyone that knocks on the damn door. He could feel his arousal already stirring and he fought to regain control over his body. No one really know how little experience he had with girls, let alone one as beautiful as her. Another red light blocked his path and he typed his reply.
Let's lock all the doors, no 1 needs 2 kno all the things I'm gonna do with u
She couldn’t help but blush at his comment. He was getting the idea of the kind of party she wanted to have, and suddenly she began to feel nervous. She’d never attempted to seduce someone before, let alone to do it with a text message. Her eyes rested on the compost bin on the counter and she remembered the strawberries in the fridge dipped in chocolate, and the whipped cream she’d made. The image gave her an idea of what to say to him next.
I'm gonna try somethin' new, ive got it in the fridge now.
He nearly jumped from his car when he pulled into the visitor’s parking spot at her building. The sleek car blended in with the new models that littered the lot, and he typed his next message with one hand, as he set the alarm with the other.
I wanna try that, too. i hope what i wear is ok.
Butterflies disturbed her stomach, and she turned on the radio to give herself a distraction. An upbeat song came on the radio and she began to dance around the room, cell phone in hand, typing a last message to him before he arrived.
It doesn't matter what u wear 'Cause it's only gonna b u n me there.
He let himself into the apartment with the key she’d given him the week before and stared at what he saw. Her hair was it’s natural reddish blonde, something he hadn’t seen in a long time, curled down between her shoulder blades. A lace and silk teddy clung to her curves and he was now unable to control his arousal. With her back to him he typed two words into his phone and waited.
I'm here
She turned as the message registered in her mind to see him standing in the open doorway of her apartment. The silk robe to match her teddy was slung over the back of the couch on the other side of the room and she suddenly felt very naked.
Her eyes were wide as he slammed the door, crossing the room with long strides and crashed his lips against hers. She felt his long lean body against hers, and welcomed the kiss eagerly. She felt her body being pushed towards the couch and she groaned in pleasure, anticipating what was to come.

Mimi sighed contentedly as she snuggled against his bare chest. The love making had been slow and sensual, but with a sense of urgency that she had never experienced out side of pure sex. But this had been different, there had been something else there. Tilting her head she looked up at his face, gazing into his brown eyes. A slight scruff lined his chin, and she rubbed it gently with her hand.
“Well Miriam Lockhart, do you have anything to say or are you completely speechless?”
She giggled as he kissed her gently. “I can sum it up in one word Max Brady. Wow.”
