Bo and Hope are lying in bed, her head on his chest as he runs his fingers through her hair and caresses her shoulder. “I love you Fancy Face.” he says as he kisses the top of her head. Hope sits up on one arm to look into his eyes. “I love you Bo.” As she starts to give him a kiss her glance lands on the bedside clock as she realizes they have been in bed for over three hours. “Oh no!” She says as she sits up quickly.
Bo sits up just as quickly with concern. “What is it Hope? What’s wrong?”
“Ciara. I can’t believe you forgot and I let you distract me into forgetting. You were supposed to pick her up at the pub on your way home. And Chelsea will be home from classes soon. I haven’t even decided what to fix for dinner.” She is rambling as she starts to jump up only to be pulled back onto the bed. Bo twists around until she is laying beneath him.
“You aren’t going anywhere, Mrs. Brady.” he says as he greedily presses his lips against hers in a passionate kiss. Hope tries to break the kiss even though she doesn’t really want it to end. “Bo…” she tries to speak as he continues trailing kisses across her face and neck and down to her shoulder. “I….” she tries again.
“Shhh….” Bo stops the kisses and leaning on one arm looks at her. “I didn’t forget Ciara. I called ma and pop. They agreed to keep her for the night and Chelsea is staying at the pub to help out with the baby….and to give us a night all to ourselves. So stop worrying and kiss me.” he grins as she pulls him back down on the bed.
When the kiss ends Hope laughs. “You thought of everything didn’t you Brady?”
“Of course I did.” he says cockily. “But you haven’t seen everything yet. I have one more surprise for you.”
“Oh, I love surprises. What is it?” Hope asks excitedly. “Wait. Don’t tell. Let me guess.” She gives him a sexy grin and whispers, “You ordered dinner in so we can stay in bed.”
Bo laughs. “Actually, I did. But that isn’t the surprise. Hold on.” He rolls over and opens the drawer of the nightstand and pulls out a small box before turning back to Hope. He hands her the box. “Go ahead and open it.”
She pulls the paper off excitedly, opens the box, and gasps in delight. “Oh, Bo. Its beautiful.”
Bo takes the box from her hand and pulls out a beautiful new wedding ring. “Hope,” He says softly as he begins to slide it on her finger. “We have made it through so many obstacles over the last year and half. Now, we are stronger than ever. I want this ring to be a new symbol of our love, a love that will last forever. I’m never going to let you go again Fancy Face. Nothing and no one will ever come between us again.” Hope cries as he slips the ring on her finger. Bo wipes the tears from her cheek. “I love you Hope. I will always love you.” he whispers as he kisses her again and they begin to make love.
Bo walks into the police station whistling the next morning. Roman is talking with an officer just outside the door and grins when he hears Bo. “Okay, Officer Smith, if you run into any problems radio in.” The officer walks off as Roman turns to Bo. “Well you sure are in a good mood this morning little brother. I take it you had a good afternoon off?”
Bo grins. “I had a great afternoon off and a great night. With any luck, we wont have any major developments today so I can get off work on time and I can get home and have a great night tonight too.” Roman laughs.
“But that isn’t the only thing that happened. Chelsea came home this morning before class because she wanted to talk to Hope and me. You know she and Hope have gotten pretty close since she moved in with us. She really has turned her life around and my amazing wife had a big part in that. I just didn’t realize how much it meant to Chelsea until this morning. Roman, Chelsea asked Hope if she could call her “mom.” She said it’s because she thinks it will make it easier on Ciara and not be so confusing for her but I think a lot of it is that connection. She really has blossomed since she has been living with us.”
Roman is stunned, “What does Hope think about this? Or maybe more importantly, what does Billie think?”
Bo grimaces, “Well, Hope was flattered of course and pretty shocked. As for Billie, she doesn’t know yet. We did tell Chelsea that she needs to talk to her but I don’t know if it did any good. There is a lot of damage there. But I think its good for Chelsea that she has Hope through all this and I love having my family together and getting along, all of my family.” he says with a smile.
They turn to walk into the office, neither of them noticing the door to the stairway closing softly.
When they get into the office, Bo pours a cup of coffee and looks at Roman. “So tell me what you think about what has been going on. You don’t really think these little accidents were really accidents do you?”
“What do you think?” Roman responds.
“Hope may not be great in the kitchen but she has never been careless Roman, especially if it’s something that could endanger our children. And since Zack died she has been even more careful. No, I don’t think that stove got turned on by accident or that Hope just forgot she did it. And I don’t think that SUV was an accident either.”
“Me either little brother, me either.”
Hope and Bo have just tucked Ciara in for the night and are getting ready to cuddle on the couch while they watch a movie when the phone rings. Hope answers and after a few minutes of conversation she hangs up and sits back down next to Bo.
“What’s up?” he asks as she sighs.
“That was your mom. She asked me last week if I had anything to include in the donation they are putting together for a charity she has been working with and I forgot to drop it off. She is taking it by early in the morning so she really needs it tonight. Do you mind staying with Ciara while I run it over?”
“I have a better idea.” Bo says. “I will run it over for you. Besides, I really don’t want you out on your own at night, especially not with everything that has happened recently. You stay here with Ciara and definitely wait up.” He winks. “I won’t be long and then you can thank me properly for running this errand for you.” He grins as he leans over for a kiss.
Hope smiles back as she returns the kiss. Finally, Bo pulls back. “If I don’t leave now, I won’t leave at all. So where is this stuff I am taking to Ma?”
“Oh shoot. It’s already in my car. Do you want to take the SUV? We can move everything over.” Hope says.
“No. I’ll just take your car. The sooner I get out of here, the sooner I can get back.” He grabs his keys and walks to the door with Hope and gives her a quick kiss. “I’ll be back soon.” He opens the door, starts to walk out and stops again before turning back to face her. “Have I told you lately how much I love you?”
Hope smiles at him. “You can tell me that anytime Brady. I love you too. Be careful. And hurry back. I’ll be waiting.” She kisses him one more time as he draws her close for a hug.
Bo walks out to the car and gets in. He is thinking about Hope and smiling as he drives off.
The car is picking up speed as he goes around a sharp curve and he shakes himself out of a daze. “I better pay attention or I won’t be making it back home.” he laughs at himself as he puts his foot on the brake. The car doesn’t slow down but continues to pick up speed down the hill. Bo pushes the brake harder, stomping on it this time. The brake pedal touches the floor as he tries to maintain control around the next curve.
“NO!” he screams as the car misses the curve and goes airborne.
Hope is sitting on the couch flipping through the channels on the TV while she waits for Bo to get home from the pub. Suddenly, she stops. “Bo should be home by now. Something is wrong.” she thinks to herself just as the doorbell rings.
She walks across the living room with fear in her eyes, knowing it can’t be good news. She opens the door to find Roman standing on the porch.
“Hope. I’m sorry. But there has been a terrible accident.” he says as tears form in Hope’s eyes.
Doug and Julie sit next to Hope. She is crying softly as Father Jansen speaks.
“We are here today to say goodbye to Beauregard Aurelius Brady. Bo was a loving husband and father and a decorated police officer. His senseless death will leave a void in Salem that will be felt by many. His son Shawn would like to say a few words.”
Shawn walks up to stand next to the casket. He touches it with tears in his eyes before turning to look back at the crowd.
“My dad and I had our problems especially over the last couple of years. But he was always there for me when I needed him. From the time I was a baby to when he was raising me on his own and even after I thought I was too grown to need him for anything. He taught me so much about life, love, family. I wish I had a chance to tell him just how much I loved and respected him. But its too late.” he turns back to look at the casket. “Dad, I may not be able to stand in front of you and tell you how I really feel but I can promise you that I will do everything I can to make sure Ciara knows how great a dad you were and how much you loved us.” Shawn walks back to sit down behind Hope and touches her shoulder as he passes.
Roman stands up and walks to the front. “My little brother and I didn’t always get along. We were always butting heads about something just because we were so different in the way we did things. We didn’t agree on much especially police work. But he was a great cop. He always fought to protect his family, friends, and this town from the bad guys no matter what. You know he told me once that one of the reasons he became a cop was so that he could make me proud of him. I don’t think I told him enough just how proud of him I was. He might have been my little brother but I was the one who looked up to him. He had an amazing wife and family and I envied him that above all else. And I will always be proud of the man he became.”
Father Jansen walks up as Roman goes back to his seat. “On behalf of the Brady family, I would like to thank all of you for being here to pay your respects to Bo Brady. And I would like to ask that you honor the family’s wishes and allow them privacy at the graveside as they bury their loved one.” He ends with a prayer as Hope continues to cry softly on Doug’s shoulder.
Julie walks out of the kitchen with a cup of tea for Hope. As she hands the cup to her she asks, “Darling, are you sure you don’t want your dad and I to stay here tonight?”
“Yes Princess. The more people there are here the better I will feel. Whoever cut that brake line could come after you again.”
“Daddy, Julie. I appreciate it. I do. But if anything is going to happen it will probably happen somewhere else now that the police are keeping an eye on things here and I would really rather you take Ciara back to your house just in case. I want her to be safe.” Hope stands up and hugs both of them. “I’ll go up and get her things.” She walks upstairs and comes down 10 minutes later with a bag of clothes, diapers, and toys for them to take then walks to the kitchen to get the baby’s formula.
After kissing Ciara goodbye and one more round of hugs for Doug and Julie, Hope closes the door behind them. She walks to the mantle and looks at the pictures of Bo. She picks up the family portrait of herself, Bo, Shawn, and Zack and carries it back to the couch. Sitting down, she looks at the picture once more before hugging it to her chest and closing her eyes.
Suddenly, the doorbell rings. Hope smiles. I wonder what they forgot, she thinks to herself.
She pulls open the front door expecting to see Doug and Julie and instead comes face to face with a gun. “Oh my gosh. Its you!”
Billie walks into the house and closes the front door keeping the gun pointed at Hope.
“Billie what are you doing?” Hope asks, looking confused.
“I’m doing what I have wanted to do for a long time. I am finally going to get rid of you for good.” Billie screams at Hope. “First you stole Bo from me, then you stole my daughter. And now because of you Bo is dead! YOU were the one who was supposed to die! Not Bo! Its all your fault Hope. And now you are going to pay.”
“You caused all those accidents? How did you get in the house to turn on the stove Billie?” Hope asked.
Billie smiles, “It was very simple really. I just made a copy of Chelsea’s house key. She never even knew it was missing. Once I had the copy I snuck it back in her purse and waited for you to be home alone.”
“And you were driving the SUV?”
“Of course. That was a little harder since I had to steal the SUV so it wouldn’t be linked back to me but you would be amazed how many people leave their doors unlocked. I just had to find one that was unlocked, hotwire it, and find you. You did make that easier by dropping Ciara off at the pub. It wouldn’t have stopped me if you hadn’t but I didn’t want Bo to have to go through losing another child if he didn’t have to.” Billie said. “But you had to ruin everything. You were supposed to be driving the car when the brakes went out not Bo!” she says as the tears start streaming down her face. “You were the one who was supposed to die. Why did you have to let Bo drive your car? Why?!!”
“You cut the brake line on my car? Why?” Hope asks.
“I told you why! You stole everything from me. First Bo then Chelsea. But you aren’t going to get away with it Hope. I may have cut the brake line but YOU are the one who killed Bo. It should have been you in that car!!” Billie is starting to get hysterical.
“Billie you don’t want to do this. What about Ciara? I am all she has left Billie. Are you really going to take her mom away from her?” Hope says calmly.
“Oh don’t worry. Ciara will have a mom, me. As soon as I kill you I am going to go get her from the pub and we are going to leave Salem. No one will ever find us. I didn’t get to raise Chelsea because of you and now I am going to get that chance with Ciara.”
“Stop it Billie!” Hope yells as she realizes that Billie has really gone completely over the edge. “I didn’t steal Bo from you and I didn’t steal Chelsea. Bo was my husband….”
“Shut up!” Billie yells, tears streaming down her face. “Bo loved me. If you had stayed dead he would still be with me. We would be a family, me, Bo, and our daughter. You ruined everything! And now you have killed Bo and I am going to make sure you never take anything from me again.”
Billie clicks the safety off the gun as Hope looks around the room for a weapon. Billie laughs. “There is no one to save you now Hope. No one is coming to your rescue this time.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that.” says a voice from behind.
Billie whirls around and stops in shock to see Bo walking down the stairs.
“Drop the gun Billie. You don’t want to hurt anyone.” He says calmly.
Billie turns and quickly points the gun back at Hope. “Bo, we can finally be together. Hope won’t be able to come between us again. You and I can leave Salem and raise Ciara together just like we should have raised Georgia.”
Bo realizes that Billie is quickly losing touch with reality. He looks at Hope and they stare into each others eyes for a moment. “I love you.” he mouths to her silently. “Just hang on.” Hope smiles at him softly.
Billie sees this and whirls back to face Bo taking the gun off Hope for a second. Realizing this she starts to turn back just as Hope grabs her arm trying to gain control of the gun. As they struggle for the gun Bo starts to run towards them. Before he can get to them Billie hits Hope knocking her backwards. She points the gun at Hope’s head. “Don’t come any closer Bo!” Billie yells. “Don’t make me kill you! Hope is the only one who has to die.”
Hope looks past Billie to see Bo staring at her. “I love you Brady.”
Billie’s finger closes on the trigger.
Bo begins to run and screams “NO!” Shots ring out just as he slams into Hope and they both fall to the floor.
“Hope! Fancy Face are you okay?” Bo is frantic as he rolls off Hope and starts checking her to make sure she wasn’t shot. As he sits up Hope takes a deep breath.
“I’m okay. I think I just got the breath knocked out of me. Are you okay?” she responds slowly as she tries to sit up.
Bo puts his arms around her and hugs her close as Roman walks up to them. “Are you two okay?”
Bo looks up, “Yeah. We’re fine. What took you so long Bro?”
Roman smiles. “I guess I have lost my touch. I will have to replace the front door I think.”
Bo glances past Roman to where Billie is lying on the floor. “What about….”
Roman turns sober quickly. “She’s gone. She left me no choice. When she took aim at Hope I knew there was no way to save them both. Now I just have to find a way to tell Kate that I killed her daughter.”
Bo stands up and pulls Hope up with him, keeping his arms around her.
Hope smiles softly at Roman. “Thank you. You saved my life. You both did.” she leans against Bo as he kisses the top of her head.
“I’m just glad you are both okay.” Roman says. “For a minute there I wasn’t sure I got her in time. You know there is going to be an investigation into the shooting so you might want to line up a place to stay for a few days until the house is released as a crime scene. I’m just glad that you came up with the idea of using the security system and cameras to tape Billie’s confession that she was behind all of this, little brother. That will make things easier.”
Roman walks off as the paramedics come inside the house. Bo and Hope stand watching as they cover Billie and lift her body onto the stretcher.
Bo looks over to see Hope watching him. He hugs her close. “It’s over Fancy Face. You’re safe now.” He kisses her softly as the stretcher is wheeled out the front door.
