TV commercial shoot: Kate is in hair and makeup going over her lines when a guy comes along and says you must be my wife. He plays her husband in the commercial. Tony arrives and talks to the director until the guy gets a call. Tony gives Kate a single rose and a kiss on the cheek – Anna watches. The director informs everyone that one of the actors called in sick – take 45 while he calls casting to send over a replacement. Anna approaches Kate and Tony. Kate wants to know what she is doing there. Tony invited her – he thought they could use Anna’s expertise. Kate doesn’t think so – the insult-fest begins. Tony asks them to at least pretend that they love each other. He asks Anna to excuse them. Kate tells Tony that she has tolerated Anna for his sake but this is going too far. This is her commercial, her product, her rules – either Anna goes or she goes. Anna flips through the script and reads one of the lines. The director hears her and asks her to read it again. She does. He wants to know if she’ done any acting. She did in high school. Good enough for him – he asks her to be in the commercial. She’s just what he needs. Anna agrees to be in the commercial.

The commercial shoot is underway. Things are going well until Anna doesn’t follow the script – she adds a little rant about ‘men’ – LOL! Things degenerate – Tony plays referee. The director says they need hair and makeup – Tony says ‘we need a miracle.’ The shoot is over – Tony tells Kate it went very well. Kate yells that Anna ruined it – she’ll be lucky if she can sell a potholder. She heads towards Anna and takes away the internet account she had given her. She’s never going to work with Anna again – she walks away. Tony tells Anna that Kate just needs to cool off. Anna tells Tony that he took quite a risk letting her be in the commercial – Kate could take away his account as well. Tony says there are always other accounts – there’s only one Anna. He asks her out to dinner – Anna says yes. They kiss.

DiMera mansion: John is working on his computer when Marlena comes in – he’s going to expand his business ventures – Italy or Japan? She tells him they were married once in Italy. Italy it is. Marlena wants to use his computer – hers keeps freezing up. John expects something in return – he pulls her into a kiss – Sami and EJ walk in. John tells them they should know better then to interrupt him when he’s making out with his wife. Marlena says they weren’t exactly doing that. EJ chuckles – what were they doing? John says ‘tell them, Doc.’ Sami is excited – you called her Doc – the old John is back. Rolf hears this as he enters the room and drops the tray he was carrying. Marlena offers to help Rolf clean up the mess – John says no – Rolf will take care of it. Sami asks her mother – if the old John isn’t back, why was she kissing him. Marlena says it’s complicated. John says he kissed her and she loved every second of it. Rolf says he’ll have to take the chair to be cleaned. John tells him to just get rid of it. EJ points out that the chair is an antique. John agrees to have the chair cleaned but there are several things in this mausoleum he’d like to get rid of starting with this picture – he stops in front of Stefano’s portrait.

John orders Rolf to take down the painting. Rolf doesn’t move. John repeats his order. Sami asks Rolf why he’s freaking out – still missing his old boss. Rolf remembers putting the disk inside the safe behind the painting. Rolf says he would feel as if he is betraying Stefano. Marlena reminds Rolf that Stefano is in a coma – he’s not coming back. John reminds Rolf that he owns him – whatever he tells him to do, he is to do it. Does he need to hold a gun to his head? Rolf replies – that’s a rhetorical question, right. John will do it – he pauses and then adds – himself. He heads to the painting and discovers the safe. Sami asks EJ if he knew about the safe – he had no idea. Rolf declares he’s heard the timer – he has a bundt cake in the oven. John asks Rolf for the combination. He says he doesn’t have a clue – he didn’t even know Stefano had a safe. EJ suggests John call a locksmith – John will crack the safe. He grabs Marlena’s stethoscope from her medical bag – he uses it to get the combination and open the safe.

Rolf thinks they should respect Stefano’s privacy. John thinks Rolf should respect his. John pulls out the contents – just some real estate documents. Marlena is surprised – Stefano went through all that trouble to hide real estate documents. EJ concurs – that does seem odd. John will look them over closer – maybe he’s missing something. He comes across the disk – what do we have here. Rolf stares. John pockets the disk. Marlena thinks they should see what’s on it. John will watch it later – in private. He asks Sami and EJ what they wanted when they came in and interrupted them. Sami says they want a small favour – it would help a lot if the two of them came to EJ’s immigration hearing. EJ adds – they want them to testify on their behalf. Sami says they don’t expect them to make up stuff and say they’re a gushy, romantic couple … John says – you want us to lie for you. EJ says don’t think of it as lying just being diplomatic with the truth. Sami says if you’re not going to help she’d prefer they not be involved because they don’t want them to screw it up either. John excuses Rolf. He then tells Sami and EJ – why would he want to screw it up. The sooner they convince immigration they’re the real deal – the sooner they’ll move back to their own digs. Marlena asks Sami if she’s sure about this. Sami says it’s upsetting but she doesn’t know when Lucas is going to get out of jail. EJ has been a good father – she’s not going to make the same mistake by keeping him away from his son. EJ tells Marlena he’d be forever grateful. John urges – come on blondie, it’s just a lie. Marlena tells him lying may be second nature to him but it goes against everything she stands for. Sami tells her that she’s not asking her to lie – it’s not like that her and EJ hate each other. They do a lot of things together like normal couples do. John says except one very important act. Marlena can’t promise anything especially if they ask anything specific. They hug – Marlena hopes she isn’t making a mistake.

Marlena asks when the hearing is – Sami says in about a half hour. Marlena says they should have given more notice – she has patients this afternoon. Sami assures her it won’t take long – he’ll just ask a couple of questions. John is looking forward to it – he’ll score some points with blondie. Marlena asks who they’re meeting. Sami and EJ fill her in on Mr. Burke. Sami tells Marlena to please just keep her answers short and simple, stick to the truth as much as she can. EJ adds – our version of the truth. Sami thinks everything will be fine. Marlena thinks they should leave. Sami says they have to drop the twins off at Maggie’s – they’ll meet them at the police station. They leave. Marlena asks John if he’s coming – in a minute. She walks out and John follows shortly. Rolf steps into the room – if John discovers what’s on that disk Stefano then I’m in big trouble – big trouble.

The mean streets of Salem – Part 1: Earl is on his knees begging Mr. Vitali not to do this. He has a family. Mr. Vitali is very disappointed in him. Earl says he didn’t have a choice – Brady forced it out of him – he said he’d cap him if he didn’t tell him. Vitali is sceptical that cops are going around capping people now. Vitali has a problem – he likes him – everyone deserves a second chance. Earl agrees – he won’t disappoint him again. Gunshot … Vitali and his goons stand around the body – he never did like that guy (he cleans some blood splatter off his shoe). Earl’s bruised and battered body lies in a pool of blood – Vitali gets a phone call. After the call – finish it up – we’re out of here.

Hospital: Steve, Kayla, Lexie and Abe walk into Ava’s room. Ava wants the restraints taken off. Lexie comments – she’s detoxing. Kayla tells her that she had her medication analyzed. Ava wants Kayla arrested – that’s an invasion of privacy. She wants her doctor. Kayla informs her that she’s her doctor now. Ava wants Dr. Nussbaum – she needs her pills. Kayla tells her the pills aren’t helping her. Ava tells Patch to make Kayla give her the pills. Kayla tells Ava the pills aren’t making her better, they’re making her worse. Ava accuses Kayla of lying. Abe asks Kayla if she is sure about this. She is – she watched Ava take the pills – she said they made her feel relaxed. Lexie looks at the report – this medication causes anxiety, paranoia. Kayla adds, mood swings, manic episodes – this drug is never used to treat brief, psychotic disorder. It’s an anti-seizure medication and in Ava’s case it’s potentially very dangerous. Steve wonders why the doctor would prescribe them. Abe wonders if it was intentional. Ava is insistent that Dr. Nussbaum would never hurt her – she trusts him. Kayla asks her to explain why her condition hasn’t improved. Ava says maybe medication can’t help – maybe nothing can. Steve thinks she may not know this doctor as well as she thinks she does. Can she think of any reason why Dr. Nussbaum wouldn’t want her to get better.

Ava doesn’t know. There’s something she can’t remember no matter how hard she tries. She talks about it in her sessions with Dr. Nussbaum – every time she gets close it just slips away. Lexie tells Ava to relax. Ava is very agitated – she tells Steve she let him down. Everyone hates her. She’s so story. Lexie tells everyone to get out. Ava starts crying and yelling – Patch, don’t leave me. Lexie stays in the room – the other three go out. Abe says that woman definitely has problems. Kayla says despite what has happened she’s a doctor and she wants Ava to recover. Steve says it’s not just because you’re doctor, it’s because you care about people. Kayla thinks that once the drugs are out of Ava’s system she may remember. Steve hopes so because he thinks there’s a whole hell of a lot that Ava wants to tell them. Abe can understand them feeling sorry for Ava but do they really believe she didn’t know what she was putting in her body. They do. Abe thinks they are a lot more forgiving than he is. Steve says they just want to make sure the right person is held responsible. Kayla asks Abe to put the doctor’s name in the computer and see what pops up. He will. Lexie comes out of Ava’s room – they gave her something to calm her down – she’s pretty out of it right now. Lexie needs to speak with Kayla in private. She asks Kayla if she told Steve – she didn’t. Lexie points out he’ll find out sooner or later – it’s in Ava’s chart. Doesn’t she think it’s best if Steve got the news from her. Steve comes towards them – what news? Kayla didn’t know exactly how to tell him – Ava tried to take her own life right after he left her at the altar. She just found out yesterday – she knew he’d blame himself, she’s sorry. Steve asks Lexie if he can go back into Ava’s room – he asks Kayla to come with him. They go inside – Ava wakes up. She asks where she is. Kayla tells her. Ava asks – what did I do? She can’t feel her arms. Steve tells her that it’s okay – these people will take good care of her. Ava asks him not to leave her.

Ava doesn’t feel very good. Kayla tells her she’s purging the drugs from her system – it’s going to take a while. Ava asks Kayla why she’s being so nice to her. Kayla informs her it’s her job – she’s her patient. Ava says why – I did awful things to you and to Patch and the rest of your friends. Steve tells Ava it wasn’t her – it was because of the drugs she was taking. Ava says they were supposed to help her. Kayla tells Ava to get some rest. Outside Ava’s room Steve tells Abe and Lexie that Kayla was great. Lexie says that Ava has a tough road ahead of her because of the detox. Abe gets a call – there was a body found in the alley behind the Cheating Heart. He leaves. Steve goes in to see Ava and asks her how she’s doing. She wants him to come a little closer – she needs him to get her out of there. Get rid of the guard and take off the straps – she’ll do the rest. Steve can’t do that. Ava says you owe me for all the hell he put her through. Get her out of here – she starts screaming for him to get her out. Kayla enters – Steve asks her to give Ava something to relax her. Ava keeps screaming – Kayla tries to calm her down. A voice from the doorway says what the hell is going on here. Steve turns around. Ava says you’re here. Martino goes to the bed and kisses her – he came as soon as he heard. Kayla says excuse me, who are you. He answers – Martino Vitali, I’m Ava’s father.

The mean streets of Salem – Part 2: Kate comes along just as the police tape is going up around the crime scene. Kate sees the body. The detective asks her if she seen or heard anything unusual. She says no, she just came here. The detective calls a uniformed cop over – get the lady’s name and number. Kate gives the cop the information – her cell rings. Martino Vitali is calling her from the hospital. He’s in town for a visit – he thought they could get together. Kate tells him she’s not in that line of work anymore – she gave it up a long time ago. He thinks that’s great – good for her. Kate asks what brings in to town – family business. He wants to get together for a drink. Kate is pretty busy. He says it will be just two old friends getting together – that’s all. She says okay. He offers to pick her up around 8. She suggests that they meet somewhere. He agrees – he’ll call with a time and a place. She walks away from the crime scene. Abe is now on the scene when Kate returns. Abe asks what she’s doing there. She’s getting some lunch for Chelsea. Abe tells one of the officers to escort this lady to her car – he does. Abe gets a call from Lexie – it’s his turn to pick up Theo from the sitters. Abe is going to be tied up for a couple of hours at least – it’s a professional hit.

Preview: Kate to Chelsea – You’re hoping that you and Daniel can be more than just friends, aren’t you? Lexie to Daniel – Are you leaving Salem because you want to go and catch a wave or is it because of Chelsea Brady. Nicole (arriving at the police station) to EJ (Sami and Roman are there as well) – I’m so sorry. I hope I’m not too late. Sami – What the hell are you doing here?

Monday May 5

Police Station: EJ and Sami arrive – they wonder why they had to meet Mr. Burke at the police station. Roman tells them that he is being interviewed and because he’s so busy he suggested Mr. Burke use his office for the interviews. He has talked to Mr. Burke already and he told him that they were both very devoted to their family. He also said that he would vouch both personally and professionally for EJ if that carried any weight. EJ thanks him and so does Sami. John and Marlena arrive. John wants to know if the immigration man is present. When he’s told yes he says fantastic – let us proceed without delay. Nicole rushes in – she hopes she’s not too late. Sami reacts – what the hell are you doing here? Nicole is there to testify about Sami’s unholy matrimony. Sami scoffs – she can’t testify – she just got back to Salem. Nicole says she’s the perfect character witness – she’s known Sami a long time. Sami wants Roman to do something – kick Nicole out, arrest her. Nicole says she’s here to help. She then asks EJ why is he there – he was born in the US – doesn’t he have duel citizenship. EJ explains that his mother tried to pass him off as another woman’s child so his original birth certificate became null and void. Then when his parents moved to the UK they were frightened so they registered him as Edmund’s son. He became a UK citizen and any roots he had in the U.S. disappeared for his own protection. Nicole could use a drink after that very confusing back story. Sami can’t understand why the immigration officer wanted to speak to Nicole. Nicole tells her he didn’t – she volunteered. Mr. Burke comes out of Roman’s office – he’d like to begin with Mr. John Black. John smiles at EJ – its okay, I got your back. Sami says oh god, that’s exactly what I’m afraid of.

Sami paces – Marlena tries to calm her down. Nicole riles her up – Sami snaps back. Marlena and Roman tell her to take it easy. Sami doesn’t want Nicole here. She tells Nicole if she does one thing to hurt EJ’s chances of staying in the country she’ll … Nicole taunts – what will you do. EJ has to hold Sami back – LOL! Roman tells both Nicole and Sami to settle down. Marlena tells Sami her father is right. The last thing she wants is for Mr. Burke to walk out and see her fighting with a character witness. Roman asks Nicole if she’s really there to help. Of course she is. Marlena wishes she knew what John was saying in there. He remembers nothing at all about his life with Sami. Mr. Burke asks John why Mr. DiMera and John’s step-daughter are living with him. John responds – they’re my family. Mr. Burke asks if it’s true he lost his memory. Yes. The agent says so how do you know they’re not masquerading as husband and wife. John says because of what happened to him he doesn’t remember Samantha or her husband but the last few weeks he’s been able to observe them with the objectivity of an outsider. Mr. Burke asks if in his opinion they love each other. John answers – To be sure. In fact, I don’t think those two kids realise just how much in love they really are.

Sami talks to John – she just wants to make sure he didn’t do anything that could hurt them with the immigration guy. John tells her he simply told the truth. Sami asks – the real truth or our version of the truth. John is having a hard time separating the two – which would she prefer? Sami says never mind. EJ thanks Nicole for coming to testify. Nicole hopes it will expedite her divorce. EJ cautions that divorces from men like Victor can take some time. Nicole shrugs – deportation for the US, not so much. She tells him to relax. EJ tells her to make sure that she doesn’t say anything in there that hurts his wife or upsets his chances of staying in this country and spending time with his son. Sami thanks EJ for sticking up for her – she doesn’t know if it’s enough to help though. Nicole is in with the agent – Sami wonders what that witch is saying in there. EJ tells Sami that giving herself an ulcer is not going to help. The door opens – Nicole and Mr. Burke come out laughing – he kisses Nicole’s hand. He thanks her for her cooperation and insight. Sami says well? Nicole smiles – Johnny is going to have a nice time visiting his father in London. Nicole says – maybe you should stop by Switzerland and visit Will. At this rate Sami isn’t going to have anyone left in this country. Sami attacks – Roman and EJ break them up. Nicole says she was just kidding. Marlena tells Sami to remember where she is. Mr. Burke tells Sami he’s ready for her. EJ says if he doesn’t mind, Samantha and he would like to talk to him together. He doesn’t.

Mr. Burke to Sami – Mr. DiMera first lived across the hall from you. (Sami and EJ are holding hands). Sami won’t ever forget the first time they met. He was just wrapped in a towel – barely. EJ chuckles – he was locked out of his apartment – quite a first impression, eh. Mr. Burke – from there your relationship bloomed? Sami – not exactly. EJ – we hit rough patches but just in the normal course. Sami says yes, definitely – just normal rough patches. EJ – but we always came back to each other. Sami smiles at EJ – funny how that happens. Mr Burke to Sami – But this man’s family has tried to destroy your family for years. Sami – Yes but that’s in the past – it’s all in the past. Right, EJ. EJ – I’d really like to think my love for Samantha is the beginning of a new era for the Brady’s and DiMera’s. Mr. Burke – That’s all fine and well but I have to ask you Mrs. DiMera, do you love your husband. Sami looks at EJ – I do. EJ asks Sami if she would mind if he said something – she doesn’t. EJ – Mr. Burke, sorry, I’m a little nervous. My life completely changed the moment I met Samantha. If you were to tell me two years ago that I would be a husband and father to a Brady – he stops. I’m not used to doing this. Normally I’m the guy that sits on that side of the desk and I have the file and I make the decisions. So it seems a little strange being here but I just want you to know something. This is not about a Visa – I love America. It’s a great country . It’s been very good to me but for me this is about my family. This is about my wife. This is about my son. And sitting here, looking at maybe all of this just going. I’m not asking, I’m begging you, please give me family because I don’t have any other. And I need this one please. Mr. Burke says thank you. Sami asks him when he thinks he’ll have his decision. He’ll review his notes and make his recommendation. Good day. He leaves. Sami wipes her tears and tells EJ he did great. EJ tells her she did great. Outside the office Roman tells Mr. Burke he’ll walk him out. Sami and EJ join the others. Marlena asks how it went – do they feel confident. Sami doesn’t know – he gave them absolutely no indication whatsoever. Nicole tells her not to hold her breath. Sami wants to know what Nicole said to the guy. Nicole insists she genuinely tried to help her but Sami attacking her didn’t leave a good impression with Mr. Burke. Sami is her own worst enemy – toodles. She leaves. Sami cries – what if she’s right? EJ holds her and comforts her.

Brady pub – Part 1: Philip is at the bar talking to Max about his community service work on the docks. Max says as soon as he’s finished with that he’s going to look for a real third job to make end meets. Philip says – you’re joking, right? Max wishes he was. Philip knows a way he can earn extra cash and knock off his community service hours at the same time – keep an eye on the docks and help him nail John Black. Max won’t spy on John Black. Philip isn’t asking him to spy just if he comes across some information accidentally … Max says no. Philip promises no risk involved. Max says really – you tried to bring Morgan’s father down and ruined his career in the process – he won’t be a part of something like that. Morgan overhears. She then lectures Philip about his dirty Kiriakis tricks – she can’t stop him but leave her friends out of it. Philip will if she lets him buy her a drink. No – but she’ll play darts with him. She asks Max for her special darts. While Philip is removing the darts from the board she throws one of the darts – running it through the sleeve of his shirt. Take that as a warning. Philip smirks – he’s very intimidated. Morgan thinks he should be.

Brady house: Bo and Hope are upstairs resting as Chelsea receives a parade of visitors. First is Kate – Chelsea mopes … the fertility thing is ‘bad’ but it’s not the worse part. Even Kate looks shocked. Kate asks what happened. Chelsea mopes – “Daniel” hurt her feelings by taking herself off her case – when he told her he was so “professional” – she thought they were friends. Kate sees right through Chelsea – she wants to be more than friends with Daniel. Before Chelsea answers there’s a knock on the door – Kate looks – its Chelsea’s boyfriend. Kate leaves and Nick comes in. Chelsea leads Nick on and that treats him very coolly and then lies to him that she wants to rest. Nick leaves. Chelsea phones Daniel and hangs up on him when he answers. Next is Stephanie. They talk about Stephanie and Max – Max is the one … Stephanie can’t imagine being with anyone else. Chelsea used to feel like that about Nick now she’s in love with Daniel. Stephanie is thrilled – Daniel is so hot. Stephanie leaves. Next Daniel shows up to say goodbye – he’s heading to the Sunshine Coast. Chelsea lectures him on his lifestyle. He starts to leave and then kisses her (stomach – churning … yuck) says goodbye and leaves.

Hospital: The female cop orders Mr. Vitali out – he tells her he has a court order from a judge allowing him to be here – she better check that out. She goes out. Mr. Vitali looks at Steve – he was hoping he wouldn’t run into him again. Steve says the feeling is mutual. Mr. Vitali asks Ava if she is okay – don’t worry, everything is going to be alright. He asks if it’s necessary for Ava to be tied down. Kayla tells him it is. He wants to know who she is. She tells him she’s one of the doctor’s overseeing his daughter’s case and one of the four unhappy people that were held at your compound recently. Mr. Vitali can’t vouch for what did or didn’t happen on his property while he wasn’t there. He’s not sure he likes her being one of Ava’s doctors. Kayla tells him she’s not the physician of record if that makes him feel better. But she does have a bead on Ava’s diagnosis. Mr. Vitali asks if she would tell him what it is. Kayla says sure but first why don’t you tell me why you put your daughter in the hands of a physician who made her unstable and dangerous?

Vitali has no idea what Kayla is talking about. She asks him if he has any idea why Ava’s doctor would prescribe medication that would cause Ava to have a psychotic break. He insists that he put Ava in the hands of a well respected physician that would never do anything to harm her. Kayla says whoever is responsible for giving Ava that medication wanted to make sure she would lose her mind. Ava asks her Daddy if it’s true. Did Dr. Nussbaum give her the wrong medication. Ava tosses and turns – Kayla tells Mr. Vitali that Ava is going through withdrawal. He tells Ava that he’ll look after her. Ava wants to know what is wrong with her – why was her own doctor giving her the wrong medicine. He tells her they’ll get to the bottom of it. She cries – there was nothing wrong with her – all that time she was locked up there was nothing wrong with her. Her father says if she wants to blame someone for her situation, blame him (he looks at Steve) because I do.

He then tells Ava he’ll get her out of there – take her home and take care of her personally. He tries to touch her but she pulls back. Steve tells him it’s time to go. Mr. Vitali stands up and tells Steve that he doesn’t tell him when to go. Kayla is Ava’s doctor and she’s telling him it’s time to leave. He tells Ava they’ll talk about this when she gets home. Ava tells him she’s under arrest – she’s not going home. He tells her he’ll get her home – don’t worry about it. Steve follows him out. Kayla tells Ava she’ll feel better once all the drugs are out of her system. Ava asks – then what? Kayla tells her to rest. Steve hears Mr. Vitali talking on the phone – this isn’t a game show – just get it done.

Daniel tells Lexie if she ever needs his help again just call. Lexie wants to know if he’s leaving Salem because of Chelsea Brady. He says no. Lexie wishes he wasn’t leaving – he’s an excellent doctor – please stay. Lexie goes in to see Ava – according to her chart things are looking much better. Ava asks where’s Patch. Lexie tells her that he and Kayla left. Where’s Daddy? He’s gone too.

Brady pub – Part 2: Nick is at a table with Morgan and Max. Morgan can’t believe that Chelsea asked him to leave. Nick says not in so many words but that was the gist of it. Daniel comes in and hears all this. Max thinks Chelsea has a lot to deal with – not being able to have kids is huge. Nick doesn’t care that she can’t get pregnant – he’s told her that. Morgan says Chelsea probably thinks he’s just saying that to make her feel better. Nick knocks his drink and it spills all over his book. Max will get napkins. Nick says don’t bother. This work is what got me in trouble with Chelsea in the first place – he walks out. Morgan goes after him but he’s gone. Philip follows her out and asks her if she’s always such a drama queen.

Kate meets up with Mr. Vitali – they hug and exchange greetings. He tells she looks gorgeous – she hasn’t changed a bit. She says the years have been kind to you, Marty. She’s the only one that every called him that. She turns down a drink because she has a meeting. He has somewhere to be too but they are getting together later for dinner. Kate hesitates. Marty assures her he meant what he said – no strings – just a couple of friends catching up. She says sure. He notices that something is wrong – is she okay. She says no – she had a really horrible experience earlier. She stumbled on to a murder scene. He asks if she knows anything about it. She says no – the police questioned her but she didn’t see anything and they didn’t tell her anything. He can see why she is upset – it would upset him too. Something like that just gives him the creeps. Kate laughs – she forgot how squeamish he is. They talk about old times. Kate asks if he accomplished what he came to Salem for. Not yet, but he will. Kate has to leave. He offers to walk her to her car. They leave.

Max can’t believe Nick left his work there. He starts paging through it. Max is now at the bar working on the calculations. Stephanie returns – can she get a burger. She notices that Max has Nick’s notebook – what’s he doing. Max is fixing it. Kayla looks at it – she went to medical school and she doesn’t think she could figure that out. Max just wants to help a friend. Stephanie has no idea what he’s doing and she doesn’t think Max does either but if he thinks he can fix it she supports him 100%.

Preview: Sami to John – I don’t know what I will do if EJ gets deported. John – You could always go with him. Nicole to EJ – If you weren’t so in love with Sami, maybe I’d go after you. A figure in black, wearing black leather gloves and a black ski mask takes the disk with John’s memories on it.

***************************************

Tuesday May 6

DiMera Mansion: Sami comes downstairs to find John sitting in front of the chess board. John says apparently his brother would spend hours sitting in front of the board. Sami says Stefano was obsessed with it. He thought this game would help him strategize the destruction of her family. And you were his greatest pawn. They talk about not being able to sleep. John rarely gets 4 hours – Sami thinks the alcohol doesn’t help. John thinks it’s because he got his brains scrambled. He asks her what her excuse for not sleeping is – is she worried that her husband is going to … Sami doesn’t want EJ called her ‘husband’. John points out that they are married. Sami is aware of that – just like she’s aware that she spent the better part of the day lying to the immigration officer. John asks – if you don’t like my nephew why didn’t you let him get deported. Sami doesn’t want Johnny growing up without a father like Allie is. She doesn’t know what she will do if EJ gets deported. John tells her that she could always go with EJ. Sami won’t move to England – her life, her family is here. John asks – even if your husband is forced out of the country. Sami says he’s not my husband – at least not technically. They’re not a couple. John responds – whatever you say. Sami doesn’t think he’s very empathic – no wonder her mother wants him to get back to his old self. John asks Sami if she would like to see him get back to his old self. She doesn’t think she’s the right person to ask – they didn’t exactly get along. He was always good with her mom but he was sort of righteous and that always bugged her. She asks him if he’s curious about the way he used to be. No – and frankly he’s a little tired of everyone comparing him to that guy. Sami asks – what if there was a way for him to get his old self back. Rolf could help him. John says it’s not going to happen besides he’s rather fond of the new ‘me’. Sami notices the disk he found in the safe – has he tried to see what’s on it.

He hasn’t watched it. He’ not certain it’s a DVD, it could just be data. His instincts tell him it may contain contents that he doesn’t want to know about. Sami thinks it may help him. (cue flashback) John says even though he doesn’t remember a lot he seems to recall seeing that disk in the laboratory where Stefano did whatever he did to him. Sami says then you have to look at it. He will eventually – right now he’s more interested in talking to her. She will be objective and she won’t try and tell him he’s some kind of superhero. Sami doesn’t believe in fairy tales anymore. John thinks she will be perfect for the job. She asks him what he wants to know. He answers – everything. Sami says that will take all night. John says just the highlights then as she sees them. Give him some insight – why her mother fell in love with him. Sami says that’s easy – she fell in love with you because she thought you were my dad returned from the dead. By the time they found out he wasn’t really her dad, it was too late. She couldn’t give you up – insert 3 flashbacks – including the infamous Titan boardroom scene. Sami tells John that he destroyed the love between her mom and dad. Her dad was so heartbroken he had to leave town for a long time. Seeing John and her mom together pretty much screwed everything up.

John reacts – I destroyed your life. That’s pretty convenient. Sami wishes that it hadn’t happened. John comments that her father seems to have put it all behind him. Sami says that’s because he’s a good guy. He certainly wasn’t happy that you took my mom away from him but he wanted her to be happy and in time he forgave them. John wants to know why Sami didn’t take after him – she has a chip on her shoulder. Sami says if she does it’s because of him. John asks her if she’s saying that she’s never been happy. She isn’t – her children make her happy, Lucas made her happy. John says before he went to prison and destroyed your current home – you can’t find it in your heart to forgive him, can you? Just like can’t forgive me. Sami isn’t saying that she hasn’t forgiven him for screwing up her life. John wants to know what it is then. Sami tell him it’s complicated. She says you were my dad and I loved you and I trusted you. And then one day you weren’t my dad anymore. It was like we had been living this big fat lie and she hated it and him. John says – so you rebelled. She tells him that he took her mom away from her dad. John thinks there had to be more to it than that. Sami says there’s a lot more – like the time you had once again had amnesia and up and left her mom in the middle of their honeymoon in Hawaii to hook up with Aunt Hope. John says Bo Brady’s wife, Hope? What happened. Sami says her mom didn’t want anyone to know what happened but she found out. He and her mom were walking along the beach. Hope was having a little identity crisis of her own and she lured John out to sea – insert flashbacks including the infamous sub sex.

John had no idea. Sami says it wasn’t all his fault – Aunt Hope thought she was this other person – Princess Gina. It was really devastating for her mom and Uncle Bo. John thanks her – what she’s telling him not only validates but takes the pressure off. Still it’s a lot to absorb. John wants to know more about when Sami thought he was her father. Sami says they all thought he was her dad. John inserts – and when you found out I wasn’t. Sami answers – it was a complete betrayal. John asks – and none of you had the slightest doubt? Sami says of course they did at first. Her mother actually thought that he might be Stefano back from the dead with a new and different face. Insert flashback of Marlena spotting the tattoo of the Phoenix and then a flashback of when she realises he is Roman (the photos). John states that when Stefano gave him that tattoo he marked him as his possession. Little did he know he was branding his brother, a true DiMera. Sami asks if this means he’s going to start acting like Stefano now. John has no intention of being driven by hate and revenge. He also has no intention of living his life for Blondie or anybody else for that matter. Sami says - why should you. She wishes the past would stay in the past. John says easy – just forget about it. Sami says with all the things she has done it would take a pretty severe case of amnesia. John says your mother told me you faked that once. Sami says she had it once for a while and then she didn’t want to give up that blank slate. All her past mistakes erased. John wouldn’t wish what he had on anyone. It’s disconcerting to look into your past and find nothing but blackness staring back at you. That’s why he’s looking only to the future – right now he’s focused on shoring up the DiMera Enterprises. Sami knows a good way for him to start – she picks up the disk. The information on it may be very helpful to him. John takes the disk and puts it into the DVD drive on his laptop.

It’s just all flashing lights – Sami says staring at that will give her a headache. John thinks it’s encrypted. Sami offers to call her dad – maybe he can send it to the ISA for decoding. John will think about it – he has a few sources also. He doesn’t want to deal with the disk right now. He’s enjoying their stroll down memory lane. So far she’s been brutally honest and he appreciates it. Sami doesn’t think he’s half bad once you get past his weird behaviour. John thinks the same thing about her. John wants to know how he came to Salem. Sami says from what she heard, he was ‘discovered’ by Victor Kiriakis – you were really the Pawn then – nameless, faceless – he was living under Victor’s protection. Insert flashback. He escaped from there and ended up in a Mission on the riverfront – cue another flashback. John remarks – so that’s how I got my name. He states that the fact that he was used over and over by Stefano and manipulated by Victor is unacceptable. Sami states that he was victim. John declares that his days of being a victim are over.

Sami returns from checking on Allie. John says she’s a cute kid – you’re a lucky woman. Sami tells him he’s really good with her – it reminds her of the way he used to be with Belle. He loved her to death – he was good with her before he even knew she was his daughter. John says – excuse me? Sami says she has a reputation of acting before she thinks things through – she did something really horrible to him. She hurt him a lot. She snuck into the hospital lab – cue flashback – when her mom was pregnant with Belle she didn’t know who was the father so she had a DNA test done. Sami didn’t like the result so she changed it. Cue flashback of Marlena telling John he isn’t the father. Sami says after Belle was born she panicked – she kidnapped her little sister – she was going to give her away for adoption – more flashbacks. John says so you kidnapped your kid sister because you didn’t want anyone to know that the baby wasn’t your fathers – that makes sense. Sami says you’re not mad – Belle is your daughter. John asks how can be mad about something he doesn’t remember – he has no connection to Belle. John says so when Isabella was born everyone thought it was Roman’s baby – the blonde is more twisted than I realized. Sami says you can’t tell her I told you. John won’t reveal his sources. For the record – he really likes the way Sami handled the situation with Isabella – she displayed initiative and courage. Sami thinks she should have been sent to juvenile hall. John says – Blondie’s no worse for wear. Sami says I was just starting to like you and then you say something so completely heartless. John says it’s the way I see it – you took matters into your own hands, good for you. Superheroes have a dark side – he thought she was beginning to like the new ‘me’. Sami does – but sympathising with your child’s kidnapper – that’s pretty cold. John says maybe it’s easier to be that way. Sami says and maybe I just figured you out. She thinks anytime he begins to feel a real emotion he makes some comment guaranteed to keep the person at arm’s length. John wants to know how much this analysis is going to cost him. Sami says he can deny it all he wants but she’s seen the way he is with her mom. Which means he really does have feelings for her – does he love her. John doesn’t even know what love is. Sami says he used to – she was the most important thing in the world to you. John says goodnight – I’m going to bed. He walks out. Sami thinks she struck a nerve. She heads up the stairs. Someone enters and takes the disk.

Some dark alley: Nicole joins EJ – she didn’t take him for the back alley type. EJ thought a little discretion was required – he pulls out an envelope and gives it to her for services rendered. Nicole says what I won’t do for money these days. EJ tells her not to pretend she didn’t enjoy her little mission. He paid her to speak to Mr. Burke – he did not pay her to toy with Samantha. Nicole threw that in for free. EJ hopes she was as enthusiastic in her interview with Mr. Burke. Nicole says she told Mr. Burke exactly what EJ wanted her too – that he and Sami are truly, deeply, madly in love with each other. EJ tells her not to beat herself up over a little lie. She laughs – he obviously doesn’t know her very well. She thinks they are a lot alike – there was a time she did crazy things for the people she loved for free. She mentions Eric, Brady and Austin but even she knew Austin belonged with Carrie. EJ thinks she’ll meet a nice guy soon enough. Nicole says if he wasn’t so in love with Sami she’d go after him. He tells her that he is in love with Sami. Nicole thinks that is a shame. Besides even if he was interested in her she’s married and he’s her lawyer – it probably wouldn’t be ethical for him to be involved with a client. But then he did pay her to lie for him so ethics can’t be high on his priority list. She’s confused about one thing – he said she was his only client and that he was strapped for money. He tells her maybe he got more clients. He wants her to be clear about something – no one is going to find out about this. She says you mean Sami. EJ says in her eyes I have to remain an upstanding father and husband – are they clear. Nicole asks – you really intend to make her love you, don’t you. He does – he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make sure she does.

Nicole is digging this dark and shady side of EJ DiMera. EJ says not shady – determined. Nicole likes it – it makes her all tingly – she suggests they go somewhere. EJ says he is truly tempted but as she said she is married and he’s in love with Samantha. He tells her that when he first met her he knew he could use her for his own purposes. Nicole says so this whole charming thing was just for show. He shrugs – she wouldn’t be the first person he’s fooled. Nicole says she learned how to play the game the hard way – no one uses her – understood. EJ tells her he finds her sexy, bad girl act very understated. Nicole says it’s her coping mechanism. EJ wants to know when they’ll see the real Nicole. She doesn’t know – she hasn’t seen her around lately. Maybe once she gets her settlement she’ll make an appearance. EJ asks – so financial security is what is important to her. What about love. Nicole says love is only trouble for her. Every man she’s ever loved, she’s lost. She says what about you – do you really want to drag yourself through the mud for Sami. EJ answers – he loves Sami. Nicole – but Sami loves Lucas and even if she fell out of love with him and fell in love with you she will always side with Lucas. He went to prison defending her honour – how are you going to compete with that. EJ says maybe I don’t have to compete with that – he has a way to level the playing field. Nicole thinks knocking Lucas off that pedestal won’t be easy – he’s a martyr. EJ has a plan – he won’t share it. Nicole wishes him luck. EJ doesn’t need luck – Samantha is going to be his. EJ asks her other than taking Victor for money what else does she want. Nicole says after she takes Victor for half of everything he’s got – she’ll go after the other half. She’s going to take his hot as hell son Philip.

Preview: Chelsea to Bo – You don’t want me to get in trouble with Hope, do you? Bo – Good luck with that. Morgan to Chelsea – What was that all about? Kate to Martino – I have to say you’ve changed a bit. Martino – It’s all because of you Kate. You didn’t know that, did you? Lexie to Abe and Roman – It’s my professional opinion that Ava Vitali is mentally fit to face the consequences of her actions.

Thursday May 8

Brady house – Chelsea/Dan: They’re on … that’s about all I can say – I don’t like them – I will never like them – so I’m just not going to talk about them.

DiMera mansion: Marlena notices that the portrait of Stefano has been replaced by one of her. John grins – like it? EJ comes in the front door – Sami wants to know where he went. EJ had a meeting with a potential client. Sami scoffs – she thought he was already pimping for Nicole. She can smell her cheap perfume and her dog – was she sitting on EJ’s lap. EJ has work to do. Sami asks – why are you trying to hide it. I know you were with Nicole. He asks her why she assumes he was with Nicole. Sami responds – mostly because she’s your only client. EJ informs her that Mickey has given him other clients. Now that he has some money he’d like to take her shopping. Sami thinks that the highest priority for the money is saving up so they can get the twins out of this house of horrors. She tells him she’s an adult – she doesn’t want to live with her mother and step-father and the freak-show butler. EJ understands she doesn’t like living here. Sami mutters – last night was a perfect example of why. EJ asks her what happened. Sami had a strange encounter with John – they sort of bonded in an incredibly dysfunctional way. And now she’s starting to feel guilty – she’s regretting some of the things she said to him. Back in the living room Marlena tells John the portrait is too much. John thinks it’s beautiful. Marlena tells him it embarrasses her – take it down please. John says no – consider it a monument to our rich and exciting history – that crazy rollercoaster ride we call our past. Marlena asks him what he knows about their past. He answers – a lot more than he did. Somebody filled him in – he can’t say who. Sami and EJ come in. Sami tells Marlena that she told John everything.

Marlena asks Sami – what were you thinking. John says it wasn’t her – it was him. He got curious and since Samantha seems more objective about him than Marlena he could count on her to give it to him straight. Sami didn’t worship him the way Marlena did. Marlena wishes Sami hadn’t said anything. Sami tells her that she told him she saw him as a regular man with flaws – she didn’t think of him as a hero. Marlena asks – what did you tell him? Sami says stories, memories. Marlena wants to know if they were good memories. Sami says yes – she told him about a lot of happy times, right John. John grins – what you told me was very entertaining and enlightening. Marlena says than she must have told you that you were a wonderful man, kind, gentle, generous. John says no. What I found out was that I could be a real jerk when I put my mind to it and so could you. From what he understands – the two of them hooked up on a conference room table. Marlena is shocked – it isn’t appropriate to talk about those kinds of things in public. He asks why not – half of the town knew about it except for me. EJ pipes up – actually for what it’s worth, I had no idea. Sami says she’s sorry. Marlena asks – why would tell him about that – she then says we’ll talk about this later. Sami is happy for the reprieve – LOL! Marlena asks EJ how it’s going with Immigration. He says he should have heard something by now – the fax rings. Maybe that’s it. Nicole waltzes in – goody, am I just in time?

Sami grabs the fax and won’t let EJ have it – not until he tells her what he has going on with Nicole. She’ll hand it over when he admits that he has some kind of devils’ pact with this skinny bitch. Marlena warns Sami. Nicole knows Sami is paranoid but this is a tad extreme. Sami didn’t ask for her opinion – she turns to EJ – start talking. Marlena cautions – before you start making accusations … Sami cuts in and yells at EJ – are you having sex with Nicole or what? Nicole saunters over to EJ – tell Sami about our mad, passionate affair. EJ tells Nicole to stop it – then he tells Sami that he and Nicole are not sleeping together. Sami wants to know why she’s here then. Nicole says the boring truth is that she is there to talk to strategy with her lawyer. EJ wants the fax. Sami tells him he’ll have to rip it out of her cold dead hand. EJ finally takes it from her – its good news – his Visa has been renewed. Nicole says time to celebrate – where’s the booze. Sami thinks that is proof that Nicole is in this with EJ otherwise she wouldn’t be so happy. Nicole claims she is happy because Sami and EJ are an adorable couple and it does her heart good to know they won’t be an entire ocean apart. Sami wants her to get out.

Sami keeps snapping at Nicole – calling her EJ’s lover, referring to them as Bonnie and Clyde – Nicole gets a signal from EJ – she thinks it’s time to leave – she knows when she’s not wanted. She leaves. Sami asks EJ why he’s smiling. He found her little temper tantrum rather amusing. Because you, my dear, are jealous – it warms my heart. Sami tells him to get over himself. She’s hardly jealous – he can do whatever he wants with a lowlife like Nicole. She asks her mom to back her up here. Marlena thinks she’ll stay out of this one – anybody want a drink – she sure could use one. John says finally. Marlena meant lemonade. EJ asks John to break out a bottle of his best champagne so they can celebrate him being able to stay in the country. Sami know what she’ll be celebrating. Now that EJ can stay in the country she’ll be able to get that annulment she’s been dying for. She heads upstairs. EJ grins – she likes me, she really likes me. John and Marlena are now alone – he’s smiling. Marlena wants to know what that look is – that sly little smile. John is thinking about hot they must have been together. Marlena says something like that. John says you mean something like this – he kisses her. Where’s that conference table when you need one – you’ve still got it Blondie. Marlena asks him what prompted him and Sami to take that stroll down memory lane. He answers – insomnia and then he started thinking about that disk he took out of the safe. They decided to look at it but it was encrypted. Marlena asks if she can see it. John says its right here – he discovers that it’s missing – Rolf watches.

Police station – Part 1: Nicole walks in on Ava, Roman and Abe. She rants about Victor trying to throw her out of the mansion – she wants the police to do something about it. They can’t – Roman kicks her out of the police station. Abe tells Roman to cut Ava loose. Ava wants to know where she is supposed to go. Roman tells her it’s not their problem – just don’t leave town. Abe gets a call – Bo just went ballistic on Martino at the Pub – Ava takes off. Roman and Abe follow.

Brady pub – Part 1: Bo grabs Marty – he doesn’t find it amusing when a scum-sucking pig comes into HIS town and starts murdering people. He knows if it wasn’t for him his Pop would still be alive – SOB. The goons come in – Max pulls out a shotgun. Marty tells his men to take it easy – they have to respect this ‘gentleman’s’ right to question him. After all he is an officer of the law. Bo tells him to turn around and put his arms behind his back – he cuffs him. Ava comes in – what’s going on here. Bo tells her that her old man is going down and there’s nothing she can do about it. Ava isn’t so sure she doesn’t agree. Bo starts giving Marty his rights when Roman barges in – what the hell is he doing. Bo calmly answers – making an arrest. Roman tells Max to put the gun away and tells the goons to stay put. Ava tells her daddy that he never should have paid her bail. He kept her in a prison for years and when she got locked up for real he bailed her out – why. He tells her it’s because she’s his little girl and he loves her. Ava tells him to stop it – her head is so spun around from all the drugs her shrink gave her, she doesn’t know what to think anymore. Ava wants to know if he paid the doctor to give her the drugs. He says you know better than that. She doesn’t – thanks to what he did she went out of her mind and she can’t bear to think about the things she did. She asks him again if he did it. Bo wants to take Vitali in – he’s heard enough. Abe stops him – they have no charges. Bo argues. Roman tells him the same thing – Bo doesn’t want the guy getting away with murder. He is responsible for Pop’s death – he let that crazy bitch run free after the shrink filled her full of drugs. Abe tells him to calm down. Bo goes back to Marty and tells him even if he has to take off his badge, he’s going to pay for what he did.

Roman tells Bo that’s enough – this is not the way to do it. Abe takes the cuffs off Vitali. Ava starts to leave but her daddy stops her – he wants to talk to her. She doesn’t want to talk to him – she needs some time away from him. Now that her head is clearing it’s time to figure out where the last few years of her life went. She tells him that now that she is out on bail she is finally seeing him for what he is. This is the freest she has felt in a long time – she leaves. Kate asks Marty if he’s really a heartbroken father or was that a performance. He says it wasn’t a performance – he loves that girl. Kate says not if you’ve done the things she accused you of. He says she wasn’t well. He had to do what he had to do to protect her. He suggests they sit down and finish breakfast. Kate’s lost her appetite. She thinks the family matters he came to Salem to clear up are getting too complicated for her. He’ll call her when things calm down. Kate doesn’t think that’s a good idea.

Police station – Part 2: Abe, Roman and Bo return – Abe tells Bo they can’t let Vitali know they have him under a spotlight. Roman thinks if he knows they’re on to him he’ll cover his tracks. Abe adds – or sacrifice one of his low level soldiers to cover them for him. Roman says they have two unsolved murders and all signs point to Vitali – they just need to prove it. Ava walks in – she needs to find out if her father was really responsible for what happened to her. It they can help her find the truth than maybe she can help them. (Bo and Roman are gone now). Abe tells Ava that as soon as they have some concrete evidence on her father they’ll call her. Where is she going to go. She tells him she’s going to stay at the Salem Inn. Abe doesn’t think that is a good idea – Steve and Kayla live there. Ava isn’t going to bother them – they don’t have to worry about her anymore. Abe tells her they’ll be watching.

Brady house – Part 2: Bo and Roman enter– Bo calls out for Chelsea. She isn’t home – Bo thinks all she should be doing is recuperating. Roman thinks the same thing applies to Bo. Bo will make him a deal – he won’t push himself so hard if they do everything they can to put Vitali behind bars. Bo asks Roman if he thinks Abe will take Ava’s deal. Roman doesn’t know – he’s not sure they can trust her. As for Vitali – it’s just a matter of time before he’s behind bars. Bo checks his bandage – it’s bloody. Roman tells Bo his family needs him – especially Chelsea. Bo isn’t sure the full impact of what happened has hit her yet – he has to figure out a way to help her deal with this whole thing. Bo looks out the window. Roman knows how bad Bo wants to get that guy but right now he has to concentrate on his family. Let Abe and him deal with Vitali. Bo says okay but you better get him before he gets someone else.

Brady pub – Bo/Roman: Chelsea comes in – she’s greeted by Max, Stephanie and Nick. She wants to talk to Nick alone. Stephanie tells Max that whatever Chelsea has to tell Nick isn’t going to be good – Nick is going to need his friends. She hates to say it but she thinks Chelsea is going to get hurt in all this too. Chelsea breaks up with Nick – Nick wants her to be happy. Chelsea asks if they can be friends – Nick walks away.

Another Salem back alley: The big goon tells Mr. Vitali that maybe they shouldn’t have taken out the snitch and the doctor in one day. Vitali tells them to keep their opinions to themselves. Right now they have to figure out a way to get his daughter back home where she belongs. He knows the cops will be coming after him – that’s okay. They want to step into his world – they want to mess with his family – they’re going to pay. The big guy says you mean like Patch. Vitali still owes him for what he did to Ava so he’s first then they have to whack that son of a bitch cop that clocked him.

Preview: Nicole to EJ (She’s crying) – You’re the only one I can really count on. He hugs her – Sami watches. Lexie to Daniel – You are an excellent doctor. Daniel – Maybe you should know what happened the last time I got involved with a patient. John to Marlena (Sami is there too) – Now that I know how you really feel about me, you have just jumped to the top of my suspect list.

Friday May 9

DiMera mansion: John goes through the contents of the desk looking for the disk. Marlena informs Sami that the disk is missing. Sami saw John put it on the desk. John says it’s not there now. Sami asks if other stuff is missing. Yes, John hasn’t had time to take inventory. Sami doesn’t get it – there is a lot of expensive stuff in here – why would they take the disk? Marlena wonders if Rolf knows the answer to that. Rolf doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Sami thinks he’s lying – where’s the disk. Rolf insists he doesn’t know. Sami looks at John – its obvious Rolf took it. John tells Rolf to go and get him vodka lemonade and some shortbread cookies. Sami thinks John should follow Rolf; he’d probably lead him right to the disk. John isn’t so sure Rolf is the culprit. Marlena tells John that someone knew exactly what they were looking for. John answers – a lot of people live in his house – could have been anyone of them. Marlena asks him if he honestly believes that one of them took the disk. He shrugs – they’re not the only ones living there. Sami says so now you think its EJ. Marlena asks why EJ would even take that risk. John says he’s Stefano’s son – he can’t be trusted. Marlena wonders why he let EJ live in his house then. John likes to have people in his debt. Sami asks – why would he take the disk? John won’t know that until finds out what was on the disk. Marlena reminds him that she’s his wife – he’s supposed to trust her. He asks if she trusts him. She’s trying so hard – he doesn’t make it easy. Now that he knows how she really feels about him she’s jumped to the top of his suspect list. Marlena tells him that he has no idea how she feels about him.

John smirks – judging by the grip she has on his arm he thinks she has strong feelings for him; she’s just afraid to admit them. Marlena isn’t going to talk about that now. John says later, in private. Sami takes that as her cue to leave. She’s going to drop the twins off at Maggie’s and run a few errands. Marlena offers to go with her – they’ll have lunch. Sami doesn’t think she should avoid John. Marlena isn’t quite ready for all that just yet. Sami says he needs your help to find the disk – she looks at Rolf, start by looking in his room. Sami leaves. Rolf tells John he may search his room if he wants. John says it’s not necessary and dismisses Rolf. Marlena thinks John is making a mistake. John picks up the phone – he’s going to raise a little hell. He’s on the phone to the security company – he expects their newest top of the line security system installed this afternoon free of charge – he doesn’t the care that it’s the man’s kid’s birthday today. Do it or tomorrow he’ll own the company. Marlena thinks he was too harsh – why not wait until tomorrow? John doesn’t see a point of entry which means he was robbed by a professional or a freeloading relative. He’ll let the private investigator figure that out. Marlena says there was a time you’d have done that job yourself. John snaps – that guy is gone and he’s never coming back. Marlena isn’t so sure. Marlena thinks this is a link to the old John. John disagrees. She tells him to think about – he was Stefano’s secret project. John slams his glass down – don’t ever call him that again.

They both apologise. Marlena says she hit a nerve – is that something he wants to talk about. John doesn’t want this happening – she’s treating him like some crazy mixed up patient. She just wants to help. He tells her to leave him alone then. Marlena says alright. She’s leaving but stops to tell him that she never once thought of him as a patient. He means so much more to her than that. If he doesn’t know that by know, she’s not sure he ever will. Marlena leaves. John questions Rolf about his dive watch – has he seen it. The cat burglar’s list of items taken has grown. They knew exactly what they wanted – the other items make it look like a routine heist. They went through a lot of trouble to take that disk. Rolf wonders what John would have done if he had caught them. He would have put a bullet in their head. John is glad they didn’t find his Cuban cigars. Rolf asks – you do believe me – I had nothing to do with that disk being stolen. John does – if Rolf would have taken it he would have replaced it with a phoney – no one would have been the wiser. Whoever did this wanted it bad enough that they broke into his house while he was still in it. That not only makes him curious, it makes him angry and the last thing you want to do is make him angry.

Gym: Lexie wants Daniel to consult on another case. He refuses – she pushes. He snaps – she wouldn’t ask if she knew what happened the last time he got involved with a patient. If there was a breach of ethics Lexie wants to hear about it. Daniel tells her the story of his wife. She leaves – he goes for a sauna – Chelsea barges in – she knows about his wife (this after she had just promised her grandfather she wouldn’t say a word about it).

Brady pub: Inside – Chelsea joins Victor. They talk a bit about home and school and finals. Nicole comes in and accuses Victor of poisoning Pookie. He says he didn’t do it. They argue back and forth. Nicole asks for the other patron’s attention and tells them all that this man poisoned her dog. Victor suggests she leave. After she’s gone Chelsea turns the conversation to Daniel and his past.

Outside: EJ is on his cell – he doesn’t care how they do it, just do it – they are being paid very well. Nicole comes out and bumps into EJ. He asks if she is okay. She starts crying. Pookie is in the hospital – Victor poisoned her and now she’s in intensive care and I can’t visit her. EJ tells her that Pookie will pull through. Nicole asks if he wants to see pictures. He says sure. They go through an album – Nicole talks about each one. She breaks down again when she comes to a birthday picture – she doesn’t know if Pookie will live to see her next one. EJ tells her that if Pookie is half as strong as her mother she’ll pull through. Nicole asks him why he’s being so supportive. Usually when she talks about Pookie people think it’s silly that she treats her as human. EJ doesn’t – she’s her dog; she cares about her. Nicole says she means more to her than anything – she’s the only one she can really count on. She cries – EJ holds her.

They talk some more about the dog. Nicole says she can’t leave me – I’ll be all alone. EJ tells her that she’ll have him. Nicole says please – I pay you. EJ says that is the most pathetic thing he’s ever heard someone say. He doesn’t think of her as a pathetic person – so don’t get him started on thinking of her that way now. He wraps his hands around her waist from behind and holds her. Sami walks up behind them. She asks EJ if he’s always this cozy with his clients. If he is they should pay him more. EJ tells Sami it’s not what she thinks. Sami says ‘I think it’s exactly …’ she stops when Nicole turns around – gee Nicole, what are you so upset about? You miss the sale at Hooker R Us? Nicole tells her that Pookie is in the hospital. Sami asks if the dog got caught in a rat trap. EJ tells her to show some sensitivity. Sami asks if he’s kidding her – it’s just her little varmint – she can get another one. Nicole says she can’t exchange Pookie for another one like Sami does her husbands. She and Pookie have a bond – they love each other unconditionally which is more than she can say about most people. Sami tells EJ that Nicole is playing him – how can he not see that? Nicole says I was upset and he was comforting me. Sami accuses Nicole of using her helpless, innocent little dog to try and get EJ into bed. She is not going to stand back and let that happen. She grabs EJ’s lapels and pulls him into a kiss.

Police station: Roman and Bo return – Bo will rest when Vitali’s arrested. Abe tells them Ava is gone but before she left she had a warning for Bo – be careful. Roman says that is why Bo can’t be on the case – Abe agrees. Bo wants to know if anyone has been assigned to the murder of Ava’s shrink. Abe says no. Hope walks – how about giving it to me. Bo says no way. It makes sense to Abe. Bo is not happy – it’s too dangerous. Hope wants to nail Vitali as much as he does. They all concur that won’t be easy. They have nothing on the old man but they have plenty on the daughter. They talk about the murders and Ava being drugged. They wish forensics would find a link to Vitali. Hope isn’t giving up – eventually he’ll slip up. Abe gives Hope the Nussbaum case. Bo wants to be partnered with her. Abe tells Bo that he compromised the department by attacking Vitali in the pub. Hope reminds Bo that he is supposed to be taking it easy – doctor’s orders. Abe tells Bo that he can help out from the sidelines. They next talk about the list of charges against Ava. For every charge they come up with they come up with an argument that Ava’s lawyers will use to get her off. They have to make damn sure that doesn’t happen. Abe thinks their main concern is building a case against Martino; he’s a real threat. Roman hates to admit it but he thinks Ava was a victim too. Hope asks if he thinks she’ll help them. Roman thinks it’s possible – when she found out her shrink had been murdered she assumed her father was responsible. Hope wants to know where she is – she’ll work on her. Abe says not today – he orders her and Bo to go home.

Marlena enters Roman’s office – she wants to report a break-in. Roman is sorry – technically she’s not the victim so he can’t file an official report. She wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important to her. Roman asks what’s on the disk. Marlena says they don’t know – it could be about Stefano’s dirty laundry or it could be about John. Roman will check it out off the record but he cautions her not to get her hopes too high. Marlena thanks him and leaves.

Brady house: Bo and Hope come home – Hope wants to know how they’re going to nail Vitali. They banter back and forth about Bo being on the sidelines. Hope thinks all of Bo’s talent will be a huge asset. She’s been told he’s really good at all this cop stuff. He asks if handcuffs are involved – they kiss. Hope is on the phone to Maggie – they’ll pick up Ciara in an hour. She still has more work to do … Bo and Hope head upstairs to take advantage of having the house to themselves.

Preview: Sami to Caroline – Grandma, I have to talk to Lucas. I have to see him right now. Philip (in front of his laptop) – Alright, John. Let’s see what you’ve been up to. Chelsea and Dan.

Tuesday May 13

Docks – Part 1: Max is working – Stephanie arrives – they need to talk. She wants the truth – what did he really do with Nick’s prototype proposal. She wants to know why he would redo Nick’s work and then lie about it. Max says Nick is a proud guy and he never would have accepted his help. Besides he had a major deadline which is why he (Max) stayed up all night working on it. Stephanie says – didn’t it include a lot of complicated stuff – genius stuff that Max said he knew nothing about so how did he redo the entire proposal. Max insists he just fixed it – why doesn’t she trust him. She does – what she doesn’t understand is why he doesn’t trust her. Max tells her he does trust her – he told her what he did – why doesn’t she believe him. It doesn’t make sense to her. She reminds him they promised to be honest with each other. Max tries to change the subject but Stephanie doesn’t let him get away with it. She won’t let him distract her again – she wants the truth. Max insists he did tell her the truth. Stephanie doesn’t believe him and walks away. Max has a flashback to visiting Pop Shawn’s grave.

Brady pub – Part 1: Nick is working on his proposal at the bar when one of his students, Alicia, starts talking to him. She is taking one of his summer classes and has some questions – does he have time? He says no – he’s really busy. Nick goes to Alicia’s table and apologises for snapping at her – he’s just really trying to finish his grant prototype proposal. She tells him that his proposal was already submitted. Nick wishes that was true. Alicia knows for a fact that his grant prototype proposal was submitted for approval. She works in the dean office – one of the things she does is sort the mail. His proposal arrived yesterday. Nick says it’s impossible – he spilled beer on it and then lost it – that’s why he’s redoing it. Alicia tells him he might as stop – someone must have found it and mailed it in for him.

Steve enters and sits at EJ’s table. EJ thinks that Steve chose a rather conspicuous place for them to meet. Steve doesn’t think he needs to explain why considering their history. EJ thought they agreed to keep the past in the past. For Steve some things aren’t easily forgotten. EJ remarks – and yet here we are in your in-laws pub. Steve thought they were EJ’s in-laws as well. EJ is surprised that Steve wanted to meet here – isn’t he concerned that someone may see them. Steve doesn’t care who sees them as long as he gets what he came for. EJ heard that Steve has had an interesting last few weeks – he heard that Steve, Hope, Kayla and Bo were kidnapped by Martino Vitali’s daughter Ava. Steve says it’s true but he wants to get on with business. EJ says sure and hands him a legal document. One of Vitali’s goons lurks outside the pub watching Steve. Steve looks the papers over – they seem to be in order. EJ asks him how he’d like to proceed – handshake? Steve says if EJ isn’t going to keep his word a handshake isn’t going to make any difference. EJ replies – at some point you’re just going to have to learn to trust me. Steve says no I don’t. EJ wants to know why he wants to do business with him then. Steve has his reasons – just don’t make him regret it. EJ won’t. Steve looks back at the door. Steve is about to leave – EJ offers to buy him breakfast. Steve keeps looking at the door so EJ asks him if he’s okay. Stephanie comes in and asks her dad what he’s doing there – doesn’t mom have a doctor’s appointment today? Steve tells her that Aunt Hope is taking her – you know how your mom thinks I’m crowding her. Stephanie thinks it’s safe to say that you’ll be calling the doctor afterwards to get a full report? EJ chucks – Stephanie certainly knows her father well. Stephanie says which is why I’m surprised to see the two of you together.

Police station – Part 1: Bo comes in and tells Roman that he wants to take another look at Earl Lawson’s file. He’s angry that the guy was killed for talking to him. Roman says they know Vitali’s behind it they just got nothing to connect him to it. Sami comes in – she needs to talk to her father. Bo offers to give them some privacy. Sami tells him it won’t take long – stay. She tells Roman she went to see Lucas but he refused to see her. Roman doesn’t think she should be surprised – Lucas told her that before he went to prison. Sami knows that but she has to talk to him now before she does something really stupid. Roman asks Sami what she is afraid she might do. She recalls pulling EJ into a kiss. She says she just really needs to see Lucas and talk to him – she misses him so much. She worries that Ali may not remember her Daddy. Roman asks her what she wants him to do. Sami wants Roman to talk to Lucas and convince him to see her. Roman will talk to him but he can’t guarantee anything. Sami says – can’t you force him. Roman tells her that inmates have rights. If Lucas doesn’t want to see her there’s nothing he or anyone else can do about it.

Roman has talked to Lucas – he doesn’t want to see Sami but he did say he might give her a call. Sami says that’s something at least – she’s going to leave but Roman stops her. It sounds to him like she left a lot of things unsaid before Lucas left. Sami says he shot EJ and he did it because he didn’t trust her. That’s why she was mad at him. Now after thinking about it she can understand why he felt he had to do it but she doesn’t understand why he lied about it afterwards. Bo thinks the two of them have a lot to talk about. Roman knows that Sami loves and misses Lucas – he tells her to make sure Lucas knows that. A police officer comes in with an email for Sami from Lucas Horton. Bo and Roman step outside to give Sami some privacy. She reads the email. Lucas tells her that he’s going to be in prison for a long time. He’s caused her so much pain so he’s letting her go. He loves her and always will but that’s why he’s telling her to forget about him and move on with her life.

Brady house – Part 1: Kayla tells Hope she really doesn’t have to take her to her doctor’s appointment. Hope wants to – it will do her some good to get out of the house for a while. Kayla asks her if Steve put her up to it. Hope is totally insulted. She’s doing this because she wants to be there for Kayla and because she loves her and because she promised Steve she would. Kayla knew it – Steve has been shadowing her like a hawk ever since they were rescued from the Vitali compound. Now that Martino is back in town it’s worse than ever. Steve is convinced that Martino is going to use her to get back at him. She can take care of herself. Hope knows that but it doesn’t hurt to have another set of eyes watching her back – who knows what Vitali could be planning. If the man is guilty of everything they think he is the man is truly a monster. Kayla looked at Ava’s toxicology report – the drug her shrink prescribed for her was responsible for her behaviour. Hope cautions– Ava and Steve share a past and she is Martino Vitali’s daughter. Even if she is off the drugs it would be wise to be careful around her. She then tells Kayla not to worry about the Vitali’s; she, Bo and Roman are on it – all she needs to focus on is the baby. Kayla will do that – they leave for the appointment.

Hospital: Angelo is waiting for Ava – her appointment went well. Her blood tests came back negative and Dr. Carver doesn’t think the drug Dr. Nussbaum gave her caused any permanent damage. Angelo says that is terrific. Ava just wants to start living her life again in the present, not the past. She thinks Dr. Nussbaum gave her the wrong drugs because he wanted her to be his patient for as long as possible so he could keep bleeding money from Daddy. She asks Angelo if she is right but before he can answer Kayla and Hope arrive. Ava thanks Kayla for figuring out that she was on the wrong medication. Kayla asks her how she is. Ava is better. Kayla is glad. Hope tells Kayla they need to get going – Kayla doesn’t want to be late for her check up. Ava tells Kayla to have a good appointment. After they leave Angelo tells Ava that she didn’t have to thank her. Ava says she saved my life. Angelo says her husband is the reason Ava was in this mess in the first place. Ava argues that Patch wasn’t responsible for Dr. Nussbaum giving her the wrong medication. Angelo tells her she wouldn’t have needed a doctor if it hadn’t been for Patch – as far as he’s concerned Patch is the reason for all her problems and he happens to know her father thinks so too. Ava wants to know if daddy mentioned anything to him about Patch. Is going after Patch or his family? Angelo says he doesn’t know. Ava says if you did – you would tell me, right? Angelo repeats that as far as he knows her father isn’t moving against Patch. She wants to know if anything changes – he’ll tell her. She suggests they go and get something to eat – she knows a place.

Brady house – Part 2: Hope and Kayla return. Kayla is glad Steve wasn’t at the appointment or he would have insisted she check herself into the hospital right there and then. Hope tells her it will be fine as long as she follows the doctor’s advice. Kayla says she put me on bed rest. Hope thinks this will give Kayla a chance to catch up on her reading. Kayla asks do you really think I’m capable of lying in bed reading all day. If it’s to keep her baby safe Hope says yes. Kayla says she is right – she’ll do anything to protect the baby but that doesn’t mean she’s not going to worry about Martino Vitali … Hope tells her to stop – her only job is to stay well and take care of the baby – leave Vitali to them. Hope offers to make some tea – Kayla argues that she is capable of getting her own tea but agrees to sit and relax. Hope heads to the kitchen – Kayla gets a cramp.

DiMera mansion: EJ is working when Sami comes in – what’s he doing here. EJ reminds her he lives there. She sits in a chair. He asks her how she is. At first she says fine but then she says she is just tired – she didn’t sleep well last night. He asks if it was because of what happened between them. Sami says no – for the record, nothing happened between the two of them. EJ says – so I just imagined you kissing me. Sami has a headache – she doesn’t want to talk about this right now. EJ asks if there is anything he can do to help – he can get her some pain medication or get Rolf to get her a cold compress. Sami tells him to drop Nicole as a client. EJ thinks she looks quite sad. Sami is sad but she really doesn’t want to talk about that either. EJ says if I can’t get you anything and you don’t want to talk about it can I at least give you a hug. Sami says no – she’s going to go for a walk. EJ doesn’t think that’s a good idea – she’s upset. Sami tells him she’ll be fine – the fresh air will be good for her headache. She’ll be back – she heads towards the door – EJ’s cell rings. She hears him talking to Nicole and agree to meet her in an hour.

Docks – Part 2: The goon (now with a rifle) follows Steve to Pier 9. Steve starts playing his harmonica as the guy sets the rifle’s sights on him – Steve moves behind a pillar. The guy waits trying to get a clear shot – Steve plays the harmonica – a fisherman shows up. Steve pulls out his cell and calls Bo – he doesn’t have much time – you got to listen.

Brady pub – Part 2: Stephanie joins Nick – he doesn’t seem okay – does he want to talk about it. Nick asks her if she knows why Chelsea broke up with him – he doesn’t know why either. Stephanie asks – didn’t she give you a reason. As far as Nick can remember she said it was for the best – he really thought she was the one. Anyway it’s over. Stephanie switches the topic of conversation to his proposal. Nick tells her that the work he thought he had lost is now in the hands of the Dean. Somebody turned his work in for him. Max joins them and gets caught up on the conversation. Max thinks it was a lucky break. Nick says no – it was a mess and incomplete. Max says maybe it won’t be that bad. Nick is upset – he can’t understand why the person that found out just didn’t give it back to him. Max shrugs – he has no idea. Outside the pub Steve hesitates and then keeps walking – the goon follows him.

Stephanie tells Nick there is something that her and Max need to tell him about his grant prototype proposal. Max cuts in – they looked everywhere for it even the trash. Nick reminds him that it’s already at the dean’s office. Max has to get back to work – he hopes everything goes well for Nick. Nick doesn’t think it will – not in the condition it was in. Stephanie tells him she’s sorry about Chelsea and the proposal and leaves him to join one of her sorority sisters. Nick recalls the conversation he had with Max at the Java Café about Max trying to sabotage his work. Stephanie tells Max that she can’t keep lying to Nick. Max says technically he’s the one that lied – what’s the harm – he’s pretty sure the work is accurate. He couldn’t let Nick throw away years of work – can they drop this and move on. Stephanie says he’s right – it’s time they moved on – she goes straight to Nick. Nick learns that Max redid his work and Stephanie sent it to the dean – he tells Max they need to talk. Max tells him he was just trying to help. Nick says how – by ruining my career. Because of this his grant will probably be rescinded. Max asks why – the dean got it on time and he’s pretty sure the work was solid. Nick asks how. Max says you’re a genius and all I did was clean it and copy it – all the basic information was still there. Isn’t development money given to you because it’s still in development? Nick asks if he’s trying to be funny because he’s not laughing. All Max is going to say is that Nick is probably still going to get the approval for the prototype. Nick doubts that. Max says all I was doing was helping you not lose the grant – what else does Nick want him to say? Nick thanks Stephanie for being honest with him and walks away. Stephanie tells Max she had to tell Nick. Max knows. Stephanie says now will you tell me why you really did it. When Max doesn’t answer she walks away.

Ava and Angelo walk in – she wonders what is going on with Patch’s daughter Stephanie. Angelo says who cares. They sit down. Ava asks him how he knew she had an appointment. He says she told him. She doesn’t remember that. He insists she did – let’s order. Ava thinks she’s going to have ‘some of why are you keeping tabs on me?’ Angelo admits that it could have been her daddy that told him she’d be at the hospital. Ava knows when Angelo is keeping something from her – tell her what’s really going on. He tries to say nothing but she pushes until he finally admits that her father wanted him to keep her busy today. Something’s going down and he doesn’t want Ava getting hurt.

Police station – Part 2: Bo gets a call from Steve and signals Roman to come into the room. He tells Steve he’s all ears. Bo and Steve talk – Steve says I’ll see you real soon then. Bo hangs up and tells Roman that Steve’s in trouble and they don’t have much time.

Preview: Nicole to Philip – I’m serious Philip. In spite of what you might think I really do care about you. Chelsea asking Kate for advice and Daniel going to Marlena with a personal issue.

Thursday May 15

DiMera mansion – Part 1: Sami comes in ranting and raving calling EJ and Nicole all kinds of names. Rolf tells her to shush – the babies are asleep (he says that in German – LOL!) She’s sorry. Rolf keeps forgetting – ‘the kids are cool’ – LOL! Sami flops down on the couch – Rolf asks her what is wrong. Sami angrily says nothing, everything is perfect – she’s living in this great house, she has two healthy, happy, sleeping children – what could she possibly have to complain about? Rolf wants to know why she’s so agitated then. It’s because she’s stuck with this man who is so stupid and arrogant, pompous, blind … Rolf assumes she’s referring to Elvis. She confirms that he is the arrogant ass she’s talking about.

Sami leaps off the couch to pour herself a drink – she’s had it! Her husband is a two-faced sneaky, lying, slut-chasing jerk. The good news is she is not bonded to him for life. They have a child together and she understands that but she doesn’t have to like him. Rolf says didn’t you say before that he was trying to be a better person. Sami thinks clearly she was mistaken. He’s obviously not capable of changing – all he’s capable of is driving her insane. Rolf thinks that even though she says she doesn’t like him doesn’t her heart beat faster – go pitter patter when … Sami denies any such thing – LOL! For the record she has absolutely no feelings for EJ – she certainly doesn’t love him but if she did which she surely doesn’t but if she did … Rolf says that is why he never had any use for emotions. Sami says he’s right – she should just ignore all of her emotions. Rolf cautions – with the exception of fear – it will never steer her wrong. He goes on in great detail on why fear is good – if one cultivates it one is less likely to die an untimely, pitiful death. Sami tells him he really has a way of cheering people up. Sami will take his advice – she’ll cultivate her feelings of terror and fear and ignore every other emotion. Rolf doesn’t want her to get him wrong – if you truly love someone there is nothing more inspirational. Think of all the symphonies that were composed in the name of love. Sami just wants to talk to Lucas – to see him. She knows he could help. She tells Rolf that Lucas wrote her a letter telling her to forget about him and move on. Rolf tells Sami that earlier this evening he overheard EJ talking on the phone to Warden Pruitt – it seems that she might be seeing Lucas a lot sooner than she thought.

Sami asks Rolf to confirm that he heard EJ talking to the warden about getting Lucas released. Rolf does. Sami asks – why would he want to help Lucas get out of prison. Rolf doesn’t know – he didn’t hear anything else. Sami is very glad that Rolf told her about this. Rolf says being helpful is his greatest gift – his calling. Sami says great if you hear anything else that would be helpful to her she’d appreciate it. Rolf says – what’s in it for me. Sami will owe him one. Rolf tells her he’ll collect when the time is right – he leaves. Sami calls Rolf a creep and pulls out her cell phone. She mutters – EJ, you better pick up the phone.

Gym: In the steam room EJ pulls away from Nicole – we can’t. She tells him to speak for himself and goes in for more. EJ pulls back – he can’t get over the feeling that he’s cheating on Samantha. Nicole is humiliated. EJ tries to explain – Nicole stops him. She gets it – he shouldn’t, couldn’t, can’t, won’t. She goes on to say that he and Sami share a child together so he wants to stay close to her – that’s not right. EJ tells Nicole that he really loves Samantha. Nicole tells him that Samantha will never care about him. She’s in love with Lucas – she is obsessed with him. The minute Lucas walks back into her life EJ will be a ghost. EJ doesn’t think that will be the case much longer – he has a plan. He tells her that Statesville prison has a serious overcrowding situation. They’re allowing some prisoners to be released on a home arrest program. He called the warden and asked him to put Lucas on the list – they’re expecting a response by the end of the week. Nicole wants to know how getting Lucas out of prison is going to help him win Sami’s love. He wants to win Samantha’s affections fair and square and he can’t do that while Lucas is in prison playing some poor, dejected hero. Nicole thinks Lucas is playing that to the hilt. EJ agrees – but why should Lucas be doing that – Lucas shot him. He’s the victim and the sooner he can remind Samantha of that the better. EJ is gone – Nicole wanders through the empty gym – there could be worse places to be – on second thought, maybe not. She heads to her gym bag and pulls out her flask and starts drinking.

Docks: Max and Stephanie make up – Max explains that all he was doing was trying to help a friend. Stephanie was upset at how easily he lied – she has major trust issues. If he could lie so easily to Nick, he could do it to her. Max swears he wouldn’t – he explains that Nick had accused him once already of sabotaging his work – this time Max isn’t sure that he and Nick can get past this. Max has a picnic basket all prepared. Lots of talking and kissing – he doesn’t know what he’d do without her – he’s so lucky. Stephanie thinks she is the lucky one – more kisses. She wishes they could spend the night together but she doesn’t want her parents to worry.

Brady pub: There are some police officers present now as well. The bodyguards are arrested – Bo tells everyone to put their weapons on the table … slow. Martino is frisked; he’s clean– the two bodyguards are taken out. Martino tells Bo that whatever case he’s building and he thinks he’s got, he needs to rethink it because he’s got absolutely nothing. Hope tosses the evidence bag to Bo – this will change his mind. Bo tells Martino they found this on the guy that was going to shoot Steve Johnson – it belonged to Nussbaum. Bo thinks the idiot that had it in his possession is the one that killed the shrink. Bo tells Vitali – he’s done. He had Nussbaum killed and they got the proof. Martino asks - what kind of fantasy world are they living in. Hope reminds him that they found the doctor’s wallet on one his employees … Bo adds along with the rifle. Bo has the feeling that ballistics will match this rifle to the bullet that killed Nussbaum. They’ll connect the dots and it will lead them to him. Vitali tells them they may think they have an open and shut case but they don’t. They need to pin that murder on whoever they arrested but not him – besides they can’t prove that the guy works for him. Ava says – but I can.

Ava looks towards Angelo and he gives her a nod of reassurance. Ava says that she knows her father was going after Patch. She knows everyone on his payroll so if anyone could make a positive identification it would be her. Martino tells her to shut her mouth. She says no – you tried to kill the man I loved. I trusted you and I trusted my psychiatrist and little did I know he was drugging me and trying to make me go insane. Angelo says no. It wasn’t that quack that messed you up. Martino tells Angelo to keep his mouth shut. Angelo stood by and did nothing for too long. Seeing her messed up by those drugs killed him. He cares too much about her to keep this lie going. The doctor was giving her the drugs but it was on orders from her father. Ava realises it’s true. Vitali denies it. Ava wants to know why he would do that to his own daughter – it’s because of what she remembered. Vitali tries to stop her from saying more but Bo tells him to shut up and let Ava talk. Ava says it’s what he wanted her to forget. It’s been there all the time – the memory that was right below the surface trying to make its way out. He didn’t want her to remember so he pumped her full of drugs. It was mom. He didn’t want her to remember what he did to her. You’re responsible – she was going to leave so you had her taken out. Vitali sputters that she’s talking nonsense. She remembers him admitting it to one of his thugs’ right after she tried to take her life. He must have thought she was out of it but she wasn’t. He had her mother killed – she calls him a sick SOB and starts hitting him. Angelo pulls her away – Vitali lunges for a gun – Bo shoots.

Ava kneels by her father’s body and cries. How could he do this to her? She kisses him and hugs him. Vitali’s body is now in a body bag and on a gurney being wheeled out of the pub. Hope tells Bo he didn’t have a choice. Bo thinks the SOB got off too easy. Roman tells Ava he is sorry. He then reminds her and Angelo that they are out on bail and can’t leave town. Angelo says he’ll take care of Ava – they want to leave. Roman tells them they’ll need a formal statement later. He hands his card to Angelo – if they need anything just call. They leave. Roman asks Bo and Hope for a preliminary rundown before he heads back to the station. Bo hands him the wallet they found on the shooter that was trying to kill Steve. Bo’s cell rings. He tells Roman and Bo that Steve is at the hospital – Kayla is in labour. Roman tells them to go – he’ll handle things here.

Brady house: Steve comes in just as Kayla finishes her call to 911. He asks what is wrong – she tells him it’s too soon. The paramedics show up – Kayla is in pain and worried about being in labour – she’ll lose the baby. Steve reassures her that the baby we’ll be fine. The paramedics wheel her out.

DiMera mansion – Part 2: Sami is sitting at the chess board when EJ returns. She sarcastically says – you’re back. You missed putting the twins to bed but she’s sure he had plenty of fun with Nicole in that steam room – she guesses his priorities are pretty good. EJ says it’s good to see you too. Sami asks – so how was Nicole. EJ smiles, wonderful, amazing – nothing happened. He insists it’s true. Sami tells him he’s so convincing when he says it – he’s always forthright with her so she should totally believe him. (The sarcasm is just dripping off her tongue – LOL) EJ tells her that he has absolutely nothing to gain by lying to her. Sami retorts – you had nothing to gain by sleeping with Nicole except maybe a communicable disease but that didn’t stop him. EJ says okay – I’m going to take a shower. Sami has some advice for his shower – he might want to use bleach and some lye soap. EJ tells her to wait – they’ll continue this tête-à-tête when he gets back. Sami stops him – he’s not going anywhere until he explains to her why he’s trying to get Lucas out of prison. EJ comments – so you know about that. Sami realises that it’s true and she wants to know why the hell he is trying to get him released. Sarcastically – out of the goodness of your heart because you wouldn’t have an ulterior motive, would he? EJ tells her it is out of the goodness of his heart. The truth is very simple. She loves Lucas – he knows that. Whether she wants to believe it or not, he really wants her to be happy. Sami thinks that’s a lovely sentiment – she wishes he’d been thinking that the night Johnny was conceived.

EJ asks – is that where this is coming from. Sami tells him to go and take a shower. EJ asks again if that is why she is so angry – because of the way Johnny was conceived. Sami – you think I have ever forgotten about that night? You think I can just move on? I can’t look at my son without remembering that night? I love him – I love Johnny more than anything in the world but I can’t ever forget where he came from. EJ is not proud of what he did that night. He’s deeply ashamed. To say what he did was a terrible mistake would be an understatement but he never intended to hurt her. He made love to her that night because of the way he felt about her – at the time he thought she felt the same way. Sami tells him he’s so egotistical. She told him she was in love with Lucas. EJ admits he was deluding himself. If he could take it all back; if he could go there and change it, he would. She’s talking about the biggest mistake of his life. Sami says it’s too little too late. Does he think she came out of it unscathed – just because he couldn’t see the bruises doesn’t mean they weren’t there. EJ looks confused – I hurt you; how is that even possible? Sami tells him by bruises she means emotional scars. EJ promises her that he never meant to hurt her. If he injured her in any way … Sami yells – stop it. It’s not that – you – we both were there. We both know. It wasn’t like that, alright? Why were you such a sleaze afterward. She’s starts crying – Why were you like that – that was the worst part. EJ doesn’t have any defence for what he did because there is none. The last thing he expected from her is what he got. He didn’t think she would be disgusted with him. Sami looks like she’s going to say something but he stops her. They’ve avoided talking about this for a really long time but for him … what he did was indefensible and inexcusable but he really thought that night that if they could be together that things would change. That the separation that was between them would go away. He was wrong – he understood that really quickly. He was so embarrassed and humiliated by how disgusted she was with him that he took all his anger and brought it against her. He’s so sorry and he can never apologise enough and he can never make up for it in any real way. But she has to know that in everything he’s done since then … he’s tried to change because of that for her. It didn’t just change her life it changed his too in a very different way. Understanding what he did and understanding how much he hurt her that’s the reason he did all of this. To try and make up for it is the reason he turned his father in, the reason he helped her mother find John, the reason he left every single part of his family and his history behind him. He’s a completely different person because every single day he’s just trying so hard to do something to just bring some balance back. He doesn’t expect that it’s going to happen any time soon but in his heart he hopes that one day that she might be able to find it within herself to wipe the slate clean because he is so sorry.

Sami tells him that if he wants to be a good father to Johnny he has a lot of work cut out for him starting with being a good role model. That means cavorting in steam rooms with people like Nicole … EJ interrupts – he told her nothing happened with Nicole. Sami looks at him – and you expect me to believe that because?
EJ – because I told her I loved you. Sami can’t say she believes that it’s true but it’s nice that Nicole thinks that. Fine … EJ says fine, what. Sami – fine. Like you said you wanted a clean slate so okay, fine. EJ says just like that – it’s a lot to ask. Sami – no, look we’re talking about our son and letting go and you’ve done a lot of good things as you pointed out. He’s willing to help Lucas come back … Nicole barges in even though Rolf tries to stop her. Nicole starts rambling about the lovely couple – the picture of domestic bliss. Nicole approaches EJ and Sami tells her to get away from him. EJ asks Nicole if there is a reason for her visit. Nicole doesn’t need a reason – she then says she’ll tell them – she’s a glutton for punishment. She tries to kiss EJ – he stops her.

Sami asks Nicole what the hell she is doing. Nicole is just letting nature take its course. Sami pushes her out of the room towards the door and kicks her out. EJ grins – do you think she got the hint. Sami wants him to stay away from that woman. EJ tells her he’s not doing anything – Nicole is the one chasing him. Sami wants to know how that is relevant. He says it’s relevant because he can’t stop her from showing up wherever she wants to – this is a free country. He can’t control what she does …- if she wants to have a crush on him … Sami tells him he doesn’t have to enjoy this. EJ did enjoy watching Sami turf her out of here. Sami wants him to say away from Nicole or she swears to God she’ll … EJ smiles – what are you going to do. Sami grabs him and kisses him. They kiss passionately – Sami pulls away looking shocked. EJ asks if there’s a problem. She says I just kissed you. EJ reminds her that they’re married. Sami says what is wrong with me and runs up the stairs.

Preview: Philip to Victor – You can justify anything, can’t you - even keeping secrets about your own grandson. Victor – What about the secrets that you’re keeping from me? Hope on the phone to Stephanie – Your mom’s gone into labour. Stephanie – She can’t be having the baby. It’s too soon. Steve to Lexie – Can the baby survive if it comes now?

Friday May 16

DiMera mansion – Part 1: Sami comes downstairs and finds EJ working and eating. She comments that he couldn’t sleep either. He tells her he was hungry. Sami is too. EJ thought that maybe she had come down to apologise. Sami wants to know for what. He answers for pretending that you didn’t enjoy it when you kissed me. She asks if he’s drunk. No. Then he must be crazy. He quips – only for you. Sami is going to get a snack. He offers her half of his sandwich. Sami won’t share with him – she’d rather stick bamboo shoots under her fingernails. EJ chuckles – kissing him must have been like purgatory for her. Sami tells him she has no idea why she kissed him. EJ is sceptical – he gives her a Latin quote. Sami claims she can read him like an open book. Just because she kissed him he thinks that she would be willingly to talk about – she isn’t. EJ says very well. He says good night – it’s late and he has an appointment in the morning. Sami says be sure to tell the money grubbing bitch that I said hi. EJ reminds Sami that Nicole is a client – clients pay money – they need money. He’s going to leave but she stops him – she needs to talk to him about Johnny. She thinks they have an important decision to make. It’s about pre-school – they have to get the twins on a waiting list – they need to decide if they should go to the same school … EJ thinks that perhaps they should talk about colleges too. Sami tells him it’s not a joke … EJ’s cell rings. Sami says she’s sure Nicole loves having him on speed dial. EJ tells Sami the call is from Statesville Prison. She asks if he thinks it’s about Lucas – about letting him go.

Sami looks very excited as EJ is talking on the phone. As soon as EJ is done Sami asks if Lucas is coming home. EJ is so sorry – no. They did everything they could – Lucas just didn’t make the cut – he’s sorry. Sami is very dejected – she was better off not getting her hopes up – thinking he was going to be stuck in prison forever. EJ asks her if she would have rather they hadn’t tried. No – it’s just when he said there was a chance she really believed it was going to happen. EJ tells her that just because it didn’t happen this time doesn’t mean they can’t try again. Sami has to accept that he’s not coming back anytime soon and Allie is going to have to grow up without a father. EJ is sorry – he knows that’s the thing she’s most afraid of. Sami really appreciates him trying to help – she thanks him. EJ doesn’t want to sound inappropriate – she knows that there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do to help her. Sami knows that – that’s very comforting – she thanks him. EJ tells her not to do this – don’t. He doesn’t care what kind of relationship they have just don’t pretend to be this person you’re not – come here. He holds her – she cries.

Sami pulls away – she hates women who cry all the time. EJ tells her she doesn’t cry all the time, some of the time she’s angry. That gets a smile out of her. He tells her he has big shoulders – he doesn’t mind loaning them to her to cry on. Sami is going to focus on being strong for her children. EJ thinks that is the most important thing. Sami says it’s so frustrating not having control over her own life. He tells her she does have control – its other people’s lives she can’t control. EJ says it’s late – he promised Nicole a game of tennis in the morning. Sami scoffs – if Nicole isn’t too hung over to play. If she is EJ will make her one of his famous hang over remedies. Sami asks him what he sees in her. EJ says it’s more of what Nicole sees in him – she thinks he’s a bit of ‘all that’. Sami says what woman wouldn’t. EJ answers – you. Sami acts confused when EJ tries to answer her question about what he means. EJ is tired – they could banter all night – let’s not this time. Sami says right – you have to be all bright-eyed and bushy tailed for your tennis partner. EJ would rather talk about this with her. Sami reminds him he just said he didn’t want to talk to her. No – he doesn’t want to banter, play stupid word games with her. He asks her to look at him – she does. He wants to know how she feels. She scoffs – EJ, you’re my husband. EJ - and you’re my wife and we both know that’s a complete sham. She says it went on far too long so he could get his Visa. He tells her that’s done – where do they go from here. He wants some sense of where he stands with her and this has got nothing to do with Johnny. If she really doesn’t want him in her life she needs to let him know because at the moment he’s getting some really confusing mixed signals. Sami says oh great – so now you want to talk about the kiss. He does want to talk about it until she gives him an answer. She can’t have it both ways. She can’t say she doesn’t care about him on the one hand and then on the other hand be jealous of Nicole. Does she have any feelings for him at all? If she wants him to stop having any kind of relationship with Nicole that is not strictly professional she has to give him a reason not to do it. What’s it going to be? Sami – you are my husband. There is no way I am just going to stand by and let that slut sink her claws into you. (She moves closer to him). You got me? EJ smiles – what are you going to do about it? Sami takes her time leaning in for a kiss – they kiss passionately.

Kiriakis mansion: Victor is surprised to see Chloe there. Chloe is just getting herself a drink. Victor tells her to enjoy it before she’s charged with trespassing. She reminds him that she is family. He thinks she is the worst thing that has happened to his family. Chloe thinks the worst thing is his wife and Pookie. Victor wonders why she would stay in a place where she knows she isn’t wanted. She answers – because I can. She is upset that he made it look like she had blood on her hands – the Austrian police thought she was responsible for Brady’s kidnapping. They argue back and forth. She then asks him why he hasn’t even asked about Brady if he’s so concerned about him. Victor keeps in close contact with Brady – he knows Brady is divorcing her. He repeats – why are you here. Philip enters – he invited her. Victor wants to speak to Philip alone – more insults fly before Chloe takes her leave. Philip attacks – you can justify anything – he had no right to keep Brady’s whereabouts secret from him. Victor counters – what about the secrets Philip is keeping from him. He knows about the little B&E over at John’s. Philip is impressed. He tells him about the disk – it’s encrypted. Apparently Philip has been monitoring the conversations at the mansion (he doesn’t say how) and he believes that the disk is connected to whatever Stefano had done to John. Now that Victor knows that Philip is willing to get his hands dirty for the good of the family and the business he is going to turn over more control to Philip. It does make him sad that Philip may have to get his hands dirty – he talks about being worried for Philip when he went to war, being scared when he got injured – Philip is a true hero and he was worried the business might not be enough for him. Philip asks what else could he do. Victor suggests politics – Philip says wryly – like I wouldn’t get my hands dirty in politics. Victor is gone and Chloe joins Philip. He tells her the good news. Chloe doesn’t think Brady will be too happy. Philip reminds her that Brady was never interested in the business – this won’t affect his inheritance or her divorce settlement although if his father has anything to say about it Chloe won’t get a dime.

Hospital: Kayla’s doctor is working on her – Kayla says it’s too soon. The doctor gives her some drugs to slow down the labour. Lexie joins Dr. Ellman and the nurses in the room – Kayla’s labour keeps progressing. Bo and Hope are in the waiting area. Hope calls Stephanie. Bo and Hope go into the room for a few minutes – they’re there when the doctor reports that the ultrasound showed the baby is not in distress. Kayla goes from 3 centimetres dilated to 4. The doctor tells the nurse to have the neo-natal unit on standby. Kayla protests – the baby can’t be born. Steve keeps trying to calm her down. The doctor tries another medication – Steve asks Lexie if the baby can survive if born now. Stephanie arrives – Kayla is now 9 centimetres dilated – the baby is going to be born today whether she wants it to be or not. Outside the room Chelsea, Bo and Hope wait and talk. Chelsea finds out about the shoot out at the pub and is upset with Bo for getting in a gun fight. Inside Kayla’s room the baby is born – it’s a boy. At first the Johnson family is all smiles and then Kayla looks scared as she realises she hasn’t heard the baby cry. The baby is rushed out – Kayla keeps asking why the baby isn’t crying – Lexie tells her that the baby isn’t breathing.

Preview: Mickey to Lucas – You’re the reason I’m here. How’d you like to get out of Statesville and go home? EJ to Sami – It’s just the two of us so whatever happens now is up to you. Steve to Kayla (Lexie and Dr. Ellman are there) – I’m going to go down there and see our baby boy. Lexie – Sorry, Steve. You can’t go either.
