Marseille: Melanie is surprised to find out she has a brother. Max was blown away when he heard about her. Melanie quickly defends herself – whatever he heard was a lie. Max informs her that he found out about her through Trent Robbins. He explains why he and Trent weren’t in touch. Melanie doesn’t think her father would just leave Max in foster care. She’s going to call him. Max tells her not to do that. Max tells her that Trent doesn’t know he’s there and the two of them are not on good terms. Trent wouldn’t give him any answers about her so he came here to find her on his own. Melanie thinks it’s bizarre but sweet that he came all this way to find someone he’s never met. She kind of likes having a big brother that shells out lots of money for her. Max tells her that they can’t make a habit of that. Max doesn’t want Melanie to tell her father that they’ve met because Trent wouldn’t be happy about it. Stephanie joins them – Max introduces them. Someone comes along and asks Max for his autograph and wants to know when he’s going to race again. Melanie realises that he’s Max Brady the race car driver – that’s why he looked familiar. She thinks it’s great to have an older brother that’s a celebrity.

Melanie wants to know why he quit racing. Stephanie says that he raced, he stopped and moved on to other things. Melanie coldly informs her that she was talking to her brother. She likes having bragging rights that she now has a semi-celebrity in the family. Max doesn’t consider himself a celebrity. Stephanie says he’s known all over the world. She adds that being a celebrity isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Melanie wants to know how Stephanie would know that. Max informs her that Stephanie used to race too. Melanie shrugs – she doesn’t look familiar at all. Max gets a call from Caroline – he leaves the two of them alone. Stephanie talks about Max – he’s a genius, he’s gorgeous and he has a gigantic, giving heart. He’s not perfect though – sometimes he’s way off in judging people. Stephanie mentions George – Melanie’s rich, cute, maxed-out his credit card for you, George. Melanie calls him George, the imbecile. Melanie gets a call from Trent. She’s been so busy – she’s working really hard to make him proud. She gives him a song and dance about how she gave this nun all of her allowance for her mission in Africa. Trent will wire her more money. He wants to know if she’s met any new people. Melanie says no.

Max thanks Melanie for not telling Trent that they were there. Max thinks it must be hard to be so far away from her father. Melanie says he misses her so much she has him eating out of the palm of her hand. Max says you seem pretty good at lying to him. Melanie gets huffy – he doesn’t know her at all. Max says that’s why he’s here. Melanie excuses herself to go and fix her makeup. Stephanie comments that Melanie is a real piece of work. Max says she’s just a kid. Stephanie says that everything she’s found out about Melanie so far is negative. Max thinks she is sweet – Stephanie says yeah – to you. She brings up how Melanie destroyed George – Max thinks George must have done something to upset Melanie. Stephanie says yeah – he ran out of money. She tells him how Melanie got more money out of Trent. Max says more power to her. Stephanie says when Melanie found out he was a celebrity she could almost see the dollar signs in Melanie’s eyes – just wait until she hits you up for money. Max admits that there was this situation – he doesn’t expect Melanie to be a saint. Stephanie doesn’t want to see him disappointed or taken advantage of. Max wants her to cut Melanie some slack – at least until he knows the real story. Melanie comes back into the diner and sees the cops and panics. The cops see her and arrest her. She calls out for Max – Max follows the police and Melanie.

Kiriakis mansion: Henderson serves Philip a cold drink out by the pool. Apparently Philip signed himself out of the hospital. Hope shows up – she thinks Philip knows why she is there. She knows everything. Philip tells her to spell it out. She wants to know how Philip could do it – Bo could lose everything – his career, his reputation – he could even go to prison for this. Bo hasn’t been himself – she knew it had to do with Philip and his father – she confronted him and he told her everything about the tape and how Victor badgered him … Philip cuts in and said that his father didn’t badger Bo – Bo gave him the tape to protect his brother. Hope states loudly that Bo committed a crime. She should run Philip in and make him confess everything to Roman and Abe but they both know she won’t do that. She has to protect her husband. She hates this – by not saying anything she is as guilty as Bo. Philip says that protecting family is honourable. Hope believes that Victor is protecting one son while sacrificing the other. Philip states that Bo will be fine. Hope asks – what if the truth comes out. The anonymous email means someone else knows. Philip tells her the tape was destroyed – there’s no evidence of anything. Hope tells him they don’t know what other evidence is out there. Bo told her what was on the tape. Philip says it was only business. He never had any intention of hurting Paul and he didn’t. Bo believes him – why doesn’t she? Hope says because Paul is presumed dead. Philip says if Paul is dead they both know who is responsible.

Philip says they both know that John Black must be behind Paul’s disappearance. Is she investigating him? Hope won’t discuss an investigation with him. All she is concerned about is Bo. Philip promises that if it gets out that Bo suppressed evidence he will do everything he can to protect him. Hope sarcastically says how kind of you. They already could be in over their heads. Hope is gone and Morgan is there now. She’s taking over for Henderson. She’s going to take care of Philip. She got instructions from Dr. Johnson – Philip is not to exert himself. Philip tries to get friendly but Morgan puts a halt to any extracurricular activities.

DiMera mansion: John comes downstairs and finds Ava’s note. He starts to read it and finds out she left town. He mutters that she made a big mistake and throws the note on the floor. The doorbell rings – it’s Marlena. She came to warn him – Stefano may be coming out of his coma. John thought the injection she gave him would put him away for good. Marlena says she underestimated Stefano’s strength of will. John asks if she is terrified. She can take care of herself. John says what if he accuses you of putting him in the coma. Marlena is sure he will do that. She’s a little worried about John right now. Stefano doesn’t like to share his toys – John has taken his empire. It’s like he painted a bull’s-eye on his back. John confirms that she is still his wife – he wants to make sure they can’t testify against each other. Marlena doesn’t think there will be a trial – Stefano will punish them in his own way. John says there may very well be a trial after he kills Stefano. Marlena tells him he can’t do that. If Stefano wakes up they will deal with him in a law abiding, non-violent way. John asks – like you did – he thinks she is being hypocritical. Marlena isn’t proud of the fact that she poisoned him but he had done so much to their family she had to neutralize him. John is going to the hospital – if you want a job done right just do it yourself. Marlena tells him he can’t do it but John walks out anyway. Marlena finds the note from Ava on the floor and reads it in its entirety. She calls Roman to tell him that Ava has jumped bail and left town.

Hospital: EJ tells Tony that this could mean Stefano is getting worse not better – he hasn’t moved a muscle since they got there. Tony isn’t counting Stefano out – he’s like an alligator in the mud just before he attacks. He warns EJ to be smart and prepared. If he knows Stefano he’s hard at work thinking about revenge. When he wakes up he’ll bring down anyone that displeased him especially his children that placed him in a state hospital. Kayla is in the room by Stefano – Tony imagines there has been a lot of damage because of the coma. Kayla says some patients come out of a coma perfectly normal. EJ wants her to explain more about the seizure – one would think that is not a good thing. Everyone seems to be running around like he’s going to regain consciousness. Kayla tells him that any increase in brain activity could indicate that. They just ran an MRI – she’ll go and get the results. EJ comments that it appears that Stefano is coming back from the dead once again. Tony has the strangest feeling Stefano is up to something even as they speak.

Tony says maybe a near death experience will have changed Stefano. Maybe he’ll wake up and throw a party. Who’s he kidding – Dracula never wakes up in a good mood. He’s always on the lookout for his next victim. It doesn’t necessarily have to be him – he suggests that perhaps EJ should reconsider his decision on working for John as his lawyer. EJ thinks Stefano may be happy that someone is keeping an eye on John. He always said keep your friends close; keep your enemies closer. Whether he considers John an enemy is not the point. The point is that John has their birthright and he’s not happy about that. Neither is Tony. EJ feels that it’s only right that Stefano’s children inherit his empire. Tony says perhaps Stefano is biding his time so he can get revenge on those that displeased him and then take back his empire from John. Kayla thinks that is a terrifying thought.

Tony tells Kayla that they were just saying that when Stefano wakes up he won’t be happy that John has taken over the family business and how he’s handling it. Kayla says John has been in some serious trouble since they got back from Ireland. She has the scan – she tells him that there is brain activity. The seizure has increased brain activity. She can’t say for sure that he’s cognizant and aware of everything or if there’s any way to know if he’s waking up. They have to wait and see – if there’s no progress after a period of time he’ll have to go back into long term care. For now until they figure out what caused the seizure they’ll have to keep him here. John walks in – he heard the old bastard might be waking up. John goes over to Stefano – what are you plotting now? Kayla cautions John that there’s a good chance that Stefano can hear him. John wants to know when he’s going to come to. Kayla says they don’t know if he will or what shape he’ll be in when he does. John wants to know if there could be brain damage. Kayla says it’s a possibility. John – we should be so lucky. When Kayla tells him that’s enough – John says he’s only saying what they’re all thinking. John walks out. Kayla tells Tony that there’s another possibility – the seizure could be a sign that their father’s condition is deteriorating. She wants him to come and sign some papers – they want to run more tests. Outside the room Nicole comes up to EJ – they hug. He tells her that his father is there. It could be that he’s coming out of his coma or it could be the beginning of the end. She asks if he’s okay. EJ doesn’t know. His father was such an imposing figure – he cast such a huge shadow over his life. For the first time he felt like he was getting away from that – that he was beginning to be more of his own man. If Stefano wakes up there will be hell to pay – if he dies he (EJ) will be devastated.

Marlena looks through the window at Stefano and fantasizes about going into his room – Stefano grabs her hand – she won’t get away with this. John comes up behind her – if she wants to watch she can – don’t interfere. Marlena says he can’t kill Stefano. John doubts that she can stop him but don’t worry when he kills him it will be quick, clean and won’t be traced back to him. Trent approaches Nicole – he’s on the faculty student health committee – he’s here for a meeting. He wants to know if she has found out why Max is in France. He needs to track him down before … Nicole glibly tells him that when she finds out something, he’ll find out something. Trent grabs her and tells her to keep a civil tongue in her mouth or he’ll take a walk down the hall and have a conversation with Victor Kiriakis. Doesn’t she think her former husband would like to meet her current and legal husband. Nicole asks him how long he’s known about her and Victor. Since the beginning – he thinks Mr. Kiriakis will be quite angry to find out that she defrauded him out of a hefty divorce settlement and alimony. She was never legally married to him. He says it’s up to her – all she has to do is follow his instructions.

Nicole says he can’t tell anyone they’re still legally married especially Victor. Trent tells her not to say ‘can’t’ to him. EJ comes over – he wants a quick chat with his client. He tells her that he got the information she was looking for. Stephanie sent him a text message this morning – she and Max are in France hanging out with some old racing buddies. He makes sure that Trent can overhear what they’re saying. Nicole thanks him. He leaves. Nicole asks Trent if he’s satisfied. He is for now. Nicole says good – now go away. Marlena tells John that she doesn’t condone murder. Part of her regrets what she did every single day. She used her skills as a doctor to hurt another person. It wasn’t justice – it was desperation. Stefano had a single-minded mission to destroy her family – she had to do it. John is grateful for what she did for him. Someone has to look out for him – she guesses Ava is doing that now. John tells her the situation has changed. He says if she doesn’t want to involve herself with Stefano that is fine – he has no problem eliminating situations when they arise. She doesn’t need to know the details. He walks away – Marlena goes into Stefano’s room. She sits next to him. She talks to him – she’s not sure how that stroke affected him but she imagines he can still hear her. She asks if he remembers what she did to him in his jail cell. She wants him to know something – she would do it again in a heartbeat. Stefano opens his eyes. The machine starts beeping. Kayla comes in followed by Tony and EJ. Kayla asks what’s going on – his blood pressure is going through the roof. Marlena doesn’t know – she was just standing there. Tony – don’t tell me he’s waking up. The camera cuts to Stefano – we hear him thinking ‘Prepare yourselves. I will have my revenge.’

Preview: Chelsea to Bo – You just need to relax, decompress a little bit. Everything is going to go perfectly. Hope is going to love this. John to EJ – The time is near when you will have to make a choice. Bo to Steve – The thing is someone else knows I tampered with evidence. Steve – Who?

Wednesday Aug 6

Brady house: Bo is checking with Chelsea to see what is next on the list. She tells him everything is done. He starts firing questions at her – she tells him to relax – Hope is going to love this. Reinforcements arrive in the form of Julie, Maggie, Kayla and Steve. Maggie and Julie urge Bo to get dressed. Chelsea asks Kayla about her first day at work. There are questions about Stefano. Bo asks if they can change the subject. Maggie asks him if Hope suspects anything. Bo tells them that Hope knows something is going on but she doesn’t know what or when. Hope walks in – what’s going on. Julie says finally you are home – we need to get you ready. Hope wants to know for what. Bo says it’s a surprise. Hope wants to know if it’s THE surprise – it is. Bo couldn’t think of a better time. Julie starts on Hope’s makeup – she also sends Bo and Steve out of the room. In the kitchen Bo gets them a beer. Bo is glad he didn’t call this thing off. Steve wants to know what changed his mind. Kayla and his wife. He tells Steve that Hope knows that he took the evidence against Philip in the Hollingsworth case. She was upset – she knows what he did was wrong and it could come back to bite him. Someone else knows that he tampered with evidence. They think its John Black and Ava. The department got an anonymous email about the missing evidence. They have surveillance footage of Ava on a computer at the Java Café – that’s where the email was traced back to. Steve asks if his name is in the email. It isn’t. Steve thinks he’s safe – the cat is still in the bag. Bo is going to find who is responsible for this and put him behind bars.

Hope is very impressed with the makeup job. There’s a knock on the door. It’s the hairdresser – Hope had no idea she made house calls. Only for special occasion – Bo asked her to fix her hair for tonight. Hope asks if she knows what her husband is planning. She starts to answer but Maggie cuts her off. Julie takes the woman upstairs to set up. Hope turns to Chelsea. She wants to know what the surprise is and if Chelsea doesn’t tell her no more borrowing – she lists off jewellery items. Chelsea won’t tell. In the kitchen Bo is talking to Caroline – Hope will be honoured to have something of Pop’s. Chelsea comes in and gives Bo an update. She thinks what he is doing is really romantic – they hug. Hope comes down – her hair looks great. Hope thinks she knows what Bo has planned – he’s taking her out for a fabulous dinner. Julie says we’ll see – now she has to get dressed. Hope wants a tiny hint – they say no. Julie and Maggie are so impressed – Bo thought of everything. Maggie mentions the special dishes Bo asked the chef to prepare. Hope comes down – she looks amazing! She asks if Maggie said something about crawfish and gumbo. She hasn’t had those things since she was in New Orleans with Bo – insert flashback. It was definitely an unforgettable time and very special because that’s where they were first married. No one else was there and it wasn’t legal but it was definitely romantic – insert flashback. Hope figures it out – she’s getting married today.

Steve comes into the kitchen from outside – Doug and Mickey are setting up lights for the reception – Caroline is upstairs getting Ciara dressed and Hope is drop dead gorgeous. He has to stop Bo from going to see her. He thinks what Bo is doing for Hope is pretty cool. Bo says she deserves it. They’ve been through a lot and she stood by him when most people wouldn’t. She’s an amazing woman – he’s a lucky guy. Steve tells Bo that he’s a good guy – he deserves it too. He asks Bo if he’s going to get dressed. Bo grabs his garment bag and heads out the door. Hope can’t believe that Bo arranged for them to do this. Maggie says it’s true – he’s arranged for you to renew your vows. Kayla adds that he’s been planning it for months. He wanted it to be special. Hope tears up. Maggie gives Hope the handkerchief from the Brady hope chest – it’s her something old. Kayla has something new – the bracelet Hope loved at Barron’s. Julie has the something borrowed – a necklace that belonged to their mother. Chelsea has the something blue – a garter. Hope thanks them all for making today so incredibly special. Kayla says thank you for making my brother so happy all these years. Chelsea comes in from the kitchen with a bouquet – Kayla tells Hope it’s time and ushers her outside.

Hospital: John asks EJ how the bastard is. EJ says he’s not awake even though tests show that brain activity is normal. EJ wants to talk to him about something else. He got a message from the DA’s office – the guy seems to think Ava jumped bail. John says she did – she left him a note. EJ should have been told. John feels he should have been told that there was a new development in her case. EJ tells him that he told Ava – he couldn’t discuss anything with him until Ava discussed it with John first. John thinks his ‘campaign contribution’ to Judge Fitzpatrick was a waste of money. EJ points out that he bribed one judge, not the entire court besides there is still his case coming up. He tells John that when they find Ava she will get the maximum sentence. John says they’ll never find her. She’s a Vitali – they know how to disappear. In Stefano’s room Lexie tells Tony she was there all night – Stefano never moved a muscle. There is no medical reason why he’s not awake. Tony – who says he isn’t? He has the strangest feeling that Stefano is just biding his time waiting for the right moment to make his move. Lexie says he would need help – he needs weeks of physical therapy because his muscles atrophied. She’ll monitor him for a few more days – if there is no change they’ll have to consider sending him back to the state facility. She leaves to do rounds. Stefano calls out Tony’s name and tells him he must not tell anyone he is awake. Do this for him and all will be forgiven.

John asks EJ if the DA indicated how he found out Ava left town. He didn’t. John has his suspicions – he’s glad Ava got away when she did. EJ asks John for his word that he’s not going to follow her. He doesn’t need to explain why another one of his clients has disappeared before his trial. He asks if John knows where Ava is. He doesn’t but even if he did he wouldn’t tell him. EJ asks if he had genuine feelings for Ava. John answers as much as he is capable of but he does believe she genuinely cared for him. EJ says he needs to focus on his trial anyway – it’s probably for the best that she’s gone. John has every intention of defeating those charges and when that’s complete he’ll focus on defeating Philip Kiriakis for what he put them through. EJ asks if he will be looking for his services to get that done. John says that all depends on EJ. It’s very likely that Stefano will regain consciousness. He’ll want to resume his position as head of the family. The time is near when EJ will have to make a choice. EJ says – you want to know if I’ll choose you. If he has to choose between John and his father he’s going to chose himself. John smiles.

Tony thinks Stefano needs medical attention. Lexie and EJ should know as well. Stefano says no – if I am to live the person that did this to me must not know I’m awake. Tony wants to know who did this to him – Anna walks in – she doesn’t believe it. Was he speaking to him? Tony tells her that Lexie said speaking to him might help him regain consciousness. Anna doesn’t see why he’d want to him wake up. Tony says because he’s my father. Anna says he’s also evil personified. She’s glad he’s in a coma – just in case she brought this cross – she thought they could stab him in his black heart if he wakes up. Tony ushers her quickly out of the room. There’s something he has to tell her. John is in a supply closet on his cell leaving a message – call me Blondie. We have to talk. EJ goes in and sits next to Stefano and talks to him. He apologises for sending him away to that facility – the doctors said it was the right thing to do. He hopes that Stefano will forgive him. He talks a little about Johnny. He gets up to leave – Stefano says ‘Elvis’.

Tony tells Anna that father is awake – he heard everything she said. Anna shrieks – Stefano’s awake – John and Lexie hear her. Lexie asks if that is true. In Stefano’s room EJ insists on getting medical help – he’ll get Lexie. She’s a doctor – his daughter. Stefano says yes she’s a good doctor, but daughter – the jury is still out on that as it is with him and Tony. He’s awake. He feels rested and invigorated. EJ thinks there will be residual effects from the coma – can he move. Stefano feels that he is getting strong and recovering. EJ wonders if he heard what he said to him earlier. Stefano did – he wants to know if he would have said the same thing if he knew he could have heard him. He would have– EJ insists on getting Lexie. Stefano says no – now that I’m back don’t make your first act to be one of disobedience. No one must know that I’m conscious. There are things for EJ to find out and things that he (Stefano) must do. He must promise to keep this between the two of them for now. EJ promises not to tell anyone that he’s awake.

Tony tells Lexie he was just telling Anna that his tests show more brain activity – it’s possible he can hear everything they say. John decides to look and see if Stefano is conscious. Tony tells Lexie to follow John – he doesn’t trust him. Anna wants to know why Tony didn’t tell them the truth. He couldn’t – he promised that he wouldn’t tell anyone. He told her because she’s his wife and he promised never to lie to her again and he won’t. Anna is worried – his father never wanted them together and now that he’s awake she can’t help but feel that something horrible is about to happen. In the room John tells Tony and EJ that he suggested to Lexie that they give Stefano a shot of anti-psychotic drugs and send him back where he was. They can’t let that happen. John wonders why. Lexie comes in – she’s going to check his motor response. She’ll start with his hands – ideally Stefano will give them a sign that he’s feeling pain. Stefano’s eyes open. John knew the bastard was awake. Lexie says it could have been a muscle spasm. She checks his eyes with a pen light. Lexie says he’s currently non-responsive – she needs to run more tests – she suggests they talk outside of the room. They leave and Stefano opens his eyes. Lexie wants to try electrotherapy – Tony and EJ refuse – try something else. John wants her to shock the bastard. Lexie says they can try other things but she’s not optimistic – they will have this conversation again in a few days. John gets a call. Lexie looks at Tony and EJ – something is going on with the two of them. Is there something about father that they’re not telling her.

Park: A blindfolded Hope asks Kayla if the blindfold is really necessary. It’s removed – she sees the horse drawn carriage – OMG. She turns around and Bo is there. Hope says this is just like New Orleans – insert flashback. They get in the carriage – Bo says we’re ready William and off they go.

Marlena’s bedroom: Marlena is on the phone with Sami. She’s going to shower and then go to the hospital to check on Stefano. She heads to the shower – someone dressed in black wearing a mask enters her bedroom holding a big syringe – the camera cuts to Stefano in his hospital room – cue evil laughter!

Preview: Hope to Bo – I look into your eyes and I still see the man I fell helplessly in love with when I was just a girl. Lexie to Tony and EJ – I want to know what is going on with the two of you and I want to know now. John is in Stefano’s hospital room – he places a pillow over Stefano’s face.
