Brady Pub: Outside the pub Nicole has a flashback to Daniel telling her she is pregnant and then another flashback to Dr. Colin Murphy telling her and Victor that the tests they ran showed adhesions; a blockage. Unfortunately she had previous damage to her other tube which means without intervention it would be unlikely if not impossible for Nicole to conceive a child by natural means. Nicole says she but I have conceived a child with the man I love. If she didn’t know better she’d say it was miracle but miracles don’t happen to her … but maybe they’re just beginning to.
Chez Rouge: EJ talks to Maggie about Caroline. EJ is there to meet a client – Maggie tells him the guy hasn’t arrived yet. EJ sees Philip so he goes to talk to him. He asks Philip to give Victor a message – tell him he doesn’t have a prayer. His client has no intention of giving up her divorce settlement. If Victor continues with his suit he’ll just be sending good money after bad. Philip disagrees – Nicole was never legally married to his father therefore she’s entitled to squat. EJ says his client was a victim of deception. She married Victor in good faith. They lived together as husband and wife under the same roof. If Daddy Warbucks thinks he can just have his way and then wander off into the night … Philip interrupts – Nicole tried to deceive his father. She knows better than anyone that no one crosses Victor Kiriakis and gets away with it. Melanie is sitting at the bar – she didn’t do it but she sure as hell is going to find out who did it. She overhears Maggie telling one of the servers to make sure and look after the Kiriakis table – they are one of her best customers. They guy says isn’t he the head of one of the most powerful families in Salem. His friend is a cop and he says Victor knows where all the bodies are buried … Maggie adds … and who put them there.
Philip tells EJ this is his father’s battle – he’s just warning him that his father is not one to be messed with. Philip’s guests arrive so EJ gets up and leaves his table and runs into Nicole. Melanie approaches Philip after his meeting is through. She asks if his name is Kiriakis. He says yeah. Melanie – then you’re just the man I was looking for. Nicole tells EJ she has something to tell him. She has a fantasy about telling him she’s pregnant – he’s thrilled – she just made him the happiest man in the world. EJ snaps her out of her fantasy – what does she have to tell him. Nicole thinks they should sit down first. EJ doesn’t have time – he knows what this is about and he can say it’s all Victor’s fault. Nicole says no, definitely not. Just as Nicole is going to tell him EJ gets a text – the client cancelled. He rants – he was supposed to take Johnny to zoo and he cancelled that to meet with this guy. Nicole tells him he can still take Johnny to the zoo – he has all afternoon. Nicole says what she has to tell him can wait – she wants to tell him in person. She suggests dinner tonight – they can go on that date he promised her.
Philip to Melanie – I don’t mean to be rude but who are you. She answers – someone who needs your help Victor … badly. Philip says he’s Victor’s son – does she mind telling him why she needs his Dad. Melanie needs his help to track down a killer. Melanie has finished the short version of her story – can his father help – she didn’t kill her father. The only way she can prove that is by finding out who did. Philip asks her why she came to them. She heard his family was powerful – they have connections and ways of finding out things. Philip tells her that neither he nor his father are private investigators – good luck with her search. He leaves. EJ tells Nicole to come to the mansion for dinner – he promises it will be just the two of them. He asks for a little hint – all Nicole can tell him is to prepare for a big surprise.
DiMera mansion: Sami wakes up. Lucas asks if she’s alright. Sami tells him she has to go to the station – Grandma … Lucas tells her she just fainted. Sami says her grandma needs her – she asks Lucas to take her to the station. The only place Lucas is taking her is to see a doctor.
Police Station: Outer office - Victor is demanding to see Caroline. The cop repeats that she is not allowed to have visitors. Kayla walks in – she tells the officer she’ll handle this. Victor tells Kayla he’s only there to help. Kayla thinks his kind of help is the last thing her mother needs right now. Victor doesn’t understand Kayla’s attitude. Kayla tells him that Caroline has enough to deal with right now without him. The way he wants to help her may cause her more harm than good. Kayla knows how much he cares for her mother, how much she means to him but he has to stay out of this. The DA has really got it in for her and doesn’t need any more ammunition. Victor doesn’t know what she is imagining he’s going to do but in all the years of loving her mother he has never done anything to intentionally hurt her and he doesn’t intend to start now. He walks away just as Steve comes in. Kayla tells Steve that Victor wants to help – can he imagine what that means. Steve replies that he used to work for the guy – he knows the guy can be a badass and he has creative ways of getting things done but when it comes to her mama he does think Victor has her best interests at heart. Kayla thinks the creative ways can get her in a lot more trouble if they came to light. Besides her mother is vulnerable right now – she thinks that Victor can get to her now in more ways than one.
Caroline’s Cell - Bo comes to see Caroline in her cell. She tells him she’s going a little stir crazy. When are they going to let her out? Bo says sorry, they’re not. Caroline asks – haven’t they figured that she’s not involved in Trent’s murder. Aren’t there any other suspects? Bo says there are people they’re looking at. Caroline says not Max – he couldn’t do anything like that. Bo says no more than you could – besides that one incident there’s nothing to lead them to believe he did it. Caroline says unlike me – your number one suspect. Bo says you were found with the body holding the murder weapon. Caroline agrees that it does look bad. Bo says that doesn’t mean this is over. They’ll use every piece of high-tech equipment they have to find another print, a smudge, a partial – any print that doesn’t belong to her. Caroline asks if that is her only chance. No but it would help them a lot and at least guarantee bail. She asks – what if they don’t find any other prints. Bo tells her they’ll come up with something to prove that it wasn’t her. Caroline doesn’t want him to do anything stupid. The DA and Mayor are watching him like a hawk. Bo says they may be watching him but that doesn’t mean he can’t make this right. Caroline brings up the fact that he tampered with evidence to help Philip and Victor. Bo – I won’t tamper with evidence. Caroline – Damn right you won’t because if you do I’ll turn you in myself.
Bo needs to get her out of there – she doesn’t belong in jail. Caroline says she will get out no matter how long it takes because she’s innocent.. The Brady’s are tough and can get through anything. She has her faith and family. She doesn’t want him doing anything he’ll regret. Don’t throw away the incredible opportunity of being police commissioner. Bo tells her that’s not a done deal. She tells him it won’t happen if he doesn’t toe the line and do everything by the book. She’s innocent and her two sons will prove that. She didn’t like Trent Robbins but she definitely didn’t stick a knife in his back. The officer interrupts – he knows Bo said no visitors but the guy is insisting. He said you’d allow it. Victor tells Bo he has to talk to her. Bo gives him five minutes. Caroline tells Victor he shouldn’t have come. Mickey is working very hard on getting her out – she’ll probably be out in time to make chowder for supper. Victor tells her for this she needs the very best lawyer – he’ll call Gene Briscoe. Caroline says no – Mickey is fine. Victor says then there must be some other way he can help. Caroline is going to tell him the same thing she told Bo – she doesn’t want him doing anything. She wants him to step back and have faith in the justice system. Victor says Bo may have agreed to that but he can’t – there’s no way in hell.
Caroline doesn’t want him to get involved. Victor isn’t as sure of this as she is. Caroline thinks that maybe it’s not the justice system he doesn’t have faith in – maybe it’s her. Maybe he doesn’t believe she’s innocent. Victor says that’s not true but she was caught holding the knife that killed a man and in the eyes of the DA that’s a slam dunk. Victor tells her this can be over real soon. Caroline thinks it will be when they find the real killer. In the meantime the judge will set bail and she’ll be free. He asks – what if you can’t make bail. Caroline says they don’t consider her a flight risk. Victor says no they don’t but he bets the judge will consider the fact that she doesn’t look like a murderer yet all the evidence points to the fact that she very well could be. He’s not going to let her spend another night in this place. He’s going to fix this and nothing she or anyone else says can stop him. Caroline doesn’t want him fixing anything. He might hurt someone else helping her and she couldn’t live with that. Just knowing that he’s here for her means more than she can tell him. All these years and all they’ve gone through it just means a lot that he cares so much. He never stopped caring because he never stopped loving her and he never will. He let her go once before – he’s not going to lose her again. Caroline feels that once they realize their mistake they’ll let her go. She doesn’t think she’ll even be charged. Victor says if she ever loved him even a little bit please trust him. Caroline says he knows how much she loved him and how much she still cares for him to this day so please trust her. Let her handle it her way. He asks how – by putting your faith in God. Do you think He’s going to help you? Caroline responds – God has never her down and she hopes at the end of this she can say the same about him. Victor promises that he won’t do anything she won’t approve of but that doesn’t mean he’s going to stop looking for the killer. He’ll do everything in his power to find out everyone that wanted Trent Robbins dead. Caroline smiles – it might be easier to find out who didn’t. The officer comes and tells Victor his time is up. He promises Caroline that it will be alright.
Outer office - Steve tells Kayla to not worry about Victor and what influence he may or may not have on her mother – she may be out of here soon. He can tell her for a fact that the police are looking very closely at Robbins’s daughter. He pimped her out – she hated him – they all heard her threaten him. Kayla says they heard Max threaten to him. Steve says Max doesn’t have it in him. He says that Nicole Walker could be taking her mama’s place in that cell – it turns out that she was married to Robbins and they were still married at the time of his death. They split a long time ago but the divorce never went through. Kayla says that would mean … Bo walks up – that her marriage to Victor was invalid. Kayla says she just got that big settlement – if ever there was a motive for murder … Bo states they don’t have any evidence to link her to the crime. The officer brings Bo the report he was waiting on. Bo opens it – the fibres they found are a cotton blend. Kayla doesn’t think that’s of much help. Bo says with more testing maybe the lab can narrow it down to a specific manufacturer. Kayla says it still sounds like a long shot. Bo knows but right now it’s the only way they can help Ma.
Bo and Kayla talk – Bo mentions that Victor is down with Ma – right now she needs all the friends she can get. Kayla scoffs – Victor wants more – he’s using this situation to make inroads with her. He’s trying to manipulate her now when she’s vulnerable. Bo feels that they’re past that. Kayla says you don’t give up on love – on anything you’ve wanted all your life. Bo reminds her that Victor didn’t get what he wanted because Ma was strong and knew what was best for her and her family. She’s still just as strong. Kayla thinks that she can be weak where Victor is involved. Bo is certain that Ma won’t let Victor get involved. Kayla hopes he’s right. She then asks if they could really prosecute her – would it go that far. Bo says they have to come up with evidence – proof they can take to the DA that someone else could have done it and she’s free. Ma’s innocent so it’s just a matter time before they find that evidence. Kayla talks to Kim on her cell. She notices Bo reading another report. It’s the final lab report on the fingerprints. Kayla – please tell me Mom’s weren’t the only fingerprints on that knife. Bo wishes he could. His phone rings – yeah he understands that fingerprints don’t lie – thanks for letting him know. He tells Kayla that was the DA’s office. They’re going to move forward based on this latest evidence. Ma will be arraigned and charged with the Robbins murder – Victor hears this.
Caroline’s Cell - Bo and Kayla are let into Caroline’s cell – she can see from the looks on their faces that this isn’t good news. Bo tells her they got the lab reports on the fingerprints lifted from the murder weapon. Caroline says we already know that mine are on it. Bo says what they didn’t know or expect was that hers were the only ones on it. Kayla says that means the DA feels that they have enough evidence to charge you. You’re going to have to stand trial for murder.
Hospital: Sami is telling the doctor that she is already feeling better … Lucas enters the examine room – is she at it again. She has to let the doctor find out what’s wrong with her. The doctor asks if she ate today – some fruit. Is she on any medications – vitamins. Lucas asks – why’d she faint. The doctor doesn’t know – he wants to run some tests. Sami asks him if he really thinks that’s necessary. In the doctor’s opinion – they might be very necessary. Sami is ranting about the doctor – does he want to scare her to death or is this his way of keeping her there. Lucas says he just wants to find out why she fainted. Sami thinks she fainted because her Grandmother was arrested for murder. Lucas says the doctor obviously thinks something is wrong with her – something they’ve known for years. He apologises – he makes stupid jokes when he’s nervous. Sami asks him what he’s got to be nervous about. Maybe he’s a little worried about her. He never stopped caring about her – she is the mother of his kids. Sami says she also hurt him a lot. Lucas says they hurt each other – he guesses some things aren’t meant to be. Sami thought that they were … Lucas did too. Sami still doesn’t know what went wrong. Lucas answers that’s easy. It wasn’t a ‘what’, it was a ‘who.’ The nurse comes to take some blood. Sami freaks – she hates needles – Lucas stays with her while the nurse draws the blood.
Sami is pacing – what’s taking so long. Lucas tells her to relax. Sami can’t – her grandmother is rotting in jail for a crime she didn’t commit. Lucas tells her that he’s sure her Dad is working on this and Uncle Mickey will figure something out. Sami agrees – she’s probably out of a jail already. Sami thanks Lucas for bringing her here – he probably has things to do – he doesn’t have to hang around. Lucas isn’t going anywhere until that doctor comes back. Sami asks about Chloe – won’t she wonder where he is. Lucas already called her. Sami mentions that they spend a lot of time together. Lucas says for now but Chloe wants to go back to singing. Sami makes some snide comments – Lucas asks if she’s jealous. She denies it and makes another smart remark. Lucas wants to change the subject. Sami apologises – she is a little jealous. She doesn’t think Chloe is right for him. Lucas can say the same about her and EJ. Sami – except there is no EJ and me. They’re not together. They’re friends trying to raise a child together. She doesn’t want to think about EJ. She wants to focus on her life and getting a job and getting her life together so she can move out of that DiMera loony bin. Lucas says that sounds like a good plan but he thinks things are far from over between her and EJ. Sami tells him he is wrong because she is taking control of her life. That means no EJ, not now, not ever and nothing is going to change that. Lucas is proud of her – sounds like she’s determined to stand on her own two feet. He wishes her luck – he doesn’t think she’ll need it though. She’s strong and resourceful – he doesn’t think she needs a man to lean on – especially EJ. They’ll be there to help with the kids. Sami thanks him and tells him he’s right. She needs to be her own person, someone her children can be proud of – someone she can be proud of. She’s going to do that . Nothing is going to stand in her way. The doctor comes back – he has some news she is going to want to hear – you’re pregnant.
Preview: John to Nicole – You want to tell me what’s really going on. Nicole – I’m pregnant. EJ to the doctor – I’m not pregnant. That can’t be possible. Lucas – Oh it’s possible alright. I know exactly when it happened. Daniel to Kate – There is no one more right for you in this moment than I am.

Thursday Oct 2
Brady Pub: Outside the pub Philip is on his cell talking to Dr. Randall. He’s just happy the MRI equipment is being put to good use – it was easy to write a cheque – the doctors do all the work. No he didn’t know his mother was in the hospital – he’s on his way.
Hospital – Part 1: Kate is talking to Dr. Dan – after the biopsy they’ll know whether she has lung cancer or not. Dan tells her not necessarily – the lungs are not easy organs to access making a diagnosis difficult. He explains the procedure. The success of a biopsy depends on the location of the tumour and the doctor’s ability to access it. She can count on Dr. Falk. He asks if she wants him to call anyone. She wants to wait for the results before telling anyone. Daniel has cleared his schedule – he’s going to assist in the OR. Kate says no you’re not. She doesn’t want him as her doctor. He says he cares about her. She says that’s the problem. Daniel tells her to take everything that is messy in their personal life and push it aside – this is her life they are talking about. She needs him in the OR – she needs him on her case. He is going to help diagnose her – he’s not any good at relationships but he is damn good at what he does. He knows she doesn’t want him anywhere near her, neither does Philip and Victor, but he doesn’t give a damn. He knows what is right and there is no one more right for her in this moment than him. Kate says that in the past he’s had issues with a woman that had cancer. What if that is what she has. Daniel tells her they’ll deal with that as it comes up.
Sami is shocked when the doctor tells her she is pregnant. He congratulates her and Lucas. Lucas has a flashback to finding Sami and EJ in bed together. Sami says that’s impossible. Lucas says it isn’t – he knows exactly when it happened. Sami insists that there is no way – she can’t be pregnant. The doctor says actually you’re already into your second trimester. Sami – What – I haven’t had any symptoms – no morning sickness – nothing. The doctor asks when her last period was. A couple of months she thinks – it’s not unusual – she’s been under a lot of stress lately. Sami says this is crazy – she had no idea. The doctor recommends that she make an appointment with her obstetrician and start taking her pre-natal vitamins. After he asks if they have any questions he says that he’ll give her and husband some privacy. Sami starts to deny the relationship but just says never mind. After the doctor leaves Sami says ‘OMG, I’m pregnant with EJ’s baby. What am I going to do?’
Lucas tells her to call EJ and tell him he’s going to be a daddy again unless there was someone else. Sami says EJ is the only one she’s been with and it was only that one time. She rants – it’s not fair. She was going to get a job, a life, get those twins out of that creepy mansion. Lucas tells her she can still do all that. She asks him who is going to hire a pregnant woman. What is she going to do. He tells her to start by calling EJ. Sami brings up Stefano – he’ll never leave her alone once he finds out she is carrying another DiMera heir. Lucas yells at her to forget about Stefano and concentrate on her present situation. She’s having EJ’s baby again so pick up the damn phone and call him and tell him.
DiMera mansion: Nicole arrives – EJ tells her she looks stunning. He just got back from taking Johnny to the zoo – he tells her to make herself comfortable while he takes a shower. He asks her what she wanted to tell him. She says later. She goes into the living room and sees the table set for two. She talks to her baby – they’re going to be one little happy family. John comes – looks like someone is going to have a hot date. Nicole tells him that she and EJ are on their first official date tonight. When he finds out EJ is in the shower he offers to make her a drink. She turns him down – she’s been having some stomach troubles so she’s decided to lay off the booze for awhile. John – Okay now do you want to tell me what’s really going on? Nicole avoids answering and changes the subject. After talking about Rolf – John wants to know if they’re going to continue this meaningless conversation or is she going to tell him what’s going on with her. Nicole says for all his quirks she some strange reason she feels like she can trust him. The truth is ‘I’m pregnant’. John asks – EJ’s kid. She says of course – she’s going to tell him tonight. She tells John that she was told she couldn’t have children but here she is carrying EJ’s baby – it’s a miracle really. John asks her she feels about this baby thing. She never liked children – especially the little ones – they’re so selfish – everything is always about them but now that she’s pregnant – she’s thrilled. John congratulates her – he doesn’t think he’s ever seen her this happy without a drink. She’s nervous – she doesn’t know how EJ will react. It wasn’t planned – he’ll be shocked but she thinks he’ll be happy. Maybe this is just what he needs to get off his horrible fixation on Sami. She tells John that she wants EJ to herself – she doesn’t want to share him with Sami. She knows they share a child together but this baby has to be his priority. John says or??? She’ll have to raise the baby by herself and she doesn’t want to do that.
Nicole knows that John likes Sami but she really hopes that he won’t pick sides. John asks her what she is referring to. Nicole answers – all out warfare between me and my baby and Sami and Johnny. John won’t get involved – what Elvis does is none of his concern. EJ enters – John tells him that Nicole has kept him thoroughly entertained. John leaves them alone. As EJ is pouring them champagne he tells her what he asked the chef to prepare and then after dinner he thought they’d go to this jazz club. He hands her a glass – Nicole has the perfect toast. EJ gets a call from Lucas – Sami is at the hospital – she really needs you right now. EJ tells him he’s on his way. He tells Nicole that Sami is in the hospital. He doesn’t know what is wrong – he has to go. Nicole says what about our date – EJ tells her it’s on hold. He kisses her cheek and leaves. Nicole can’t believe it – he left her for Sami again. She curses Sami – John watches.
Police Station: Caroline enters the office with Mickey, Bo and Roman. Kayla hugs her – she called Kim – she sends her love. Roman tells her they’re doing what they can to get her out of here – unfortunately the DA has charged her with murder. Caroline still can’t believe it – it seems like a bad dream. She swears that she didn’t kill Trent Robbins. Roman tells her they need to ask her a few more questions. She says sure but I already told you everything. Bo and Roman feel that there was a lot going on last night and she was in shock. Bo says in the commotion last night she may have overlooked something important. Roman adds that they need to find the clue that will lift suspicion off of her and help them find the real killer. Bo asks her to tell them about her relationship with Trent. She remembers the day she found out Trent was Max’s father. (Cue flashback) She wasn’t rude – she just let him know that she knew who he was and that she’d be watching him. Roman asks if she had any other run-ins with him. Caroline says yes – she told him a number of times not to frequent the pub. Max would get so upset when he was there she thought it was best to put a stop to it. (Cue flashback). She then says and then when I heard what he did to his own daughter – cue flashback. She wasn’t nice to him but he deserved it. Mickey asks if that is it. Caroline answers that Trent came into the pub looking for Max and Melanie – she said no and they got into an argument. The argument got pretty heated. Roman asks when this toke place. She answers – the night Trent Robbins died.
Mickey stops them – he needs to talk to his client alone. He reminds Caroline that Roman and Bo are officers of the law – anything she says can and will be held against her in court. In the outer office Max comes in and asks Kayla how Ma is doing. He tells Kayla he’s fine. He’s just worried about Ma. He can’t believe his S.O.B. father is still causing trouble after he’s dead. Max goes into the office to see his mother – he is sorry – can she forgive him. Caroline tells him he didn’t do anything. Max still feels guilty. He went searching for his sister and got mixed up in Trent’s screwed up life – if he hadn’t done that she wouldn’t be in this mess. Caroline says she was in the wrong place at the wrong time that’s all. Max doesn’t know about that – it’s so strange – like after Trent was stabbed he sought you ought for a reason. Roman hears this and tells Max he may just have hit on something. If Trent was attacked right before he ran into Ma at the cemetery maybe he was trying to tell you who stabbed him. Bo says as far as they can tell Ma was the only one at the cemetery last night. Roman thinks it was possible that Trent saw her before he was attacked and tried to get to her before he died. Bo mentions that Hope confirmed mass was let out last night so maybe someone saw Trent there before he was stabbed. Roman asks Caroline about the moment she first saw Trent – did he say anything. Caroline says it was dark – at first she didn’t recognise him. As he came closer he looked her right in the eyes – he had this strange, eerie look on his face – she was terrified.
In the outer office Kayla asks Max how Melanie is handling all this. Max doesn’t know and he doesn’t care. She accused him of killing their father. Kayla says Melanie doesn’t really know him – she’s probably in shock. Max says she hated him and so did everyone else after he set her up with that creep in France. Kayla was under the impression the two of them hit it off. Max says he and his half-sister are complete opposites. Kayla tells him that doesn’t mean they can’t be close. Max thought blood made somebody family – he was wrong. He was so happy when he found her – he thought they would form a bond instantly. That didn’t happen. All Melanie cares about is herself. Kayla thinks that Melanie is young – give the relationship time. Max says no. She’s a stranger - she means nothing to me.
Back in the office Roman tells Caroline that she has to tell them about her encounter with Trent on the night he died before she saw him at the cemetery. (Cue newly created ‘flashback’) She was cleaning up – no one else was around – Trent came in. Trent wants to talk to Max and Melanie. Caroline reminds him that she told him to leave them alone. She asks him to leave. Trent won’t leave his children. Caroline scoffs – he’s a little late. He had no trouble leaving Max as a child – she doesn’t see now as being any different. Trent thinks the Brady’s all think they are so high and mighty and better than him. He may have left his son a long time ago so that he could have a better life than he could give him but he never stopped cared. Caroline sarcastically – Oh, really? Trent says like you have the picture perfect family. He’s been following her and her family for years – they’ve had their share of problems. She agrees but they worked through their problems and bonded – they love each other (Trent laughs) – Caroline adds – they didn’t destroy anyone along the way. (End of flashback) Caroline admits she had trouble controlling her temper – he was so infuriating. Mickey says there was nothing incriminating about what she said – she was just protecting her family – that’s all. Caroline – No Mickey – that’s not all. She’s just getting started.
Trent refused to leave and the argument escalated. (Cue newly created flashback). Trent doesn’t give a damn what she thinks of him. He’s not leaving until he sees his children and there’s nothing she can do about it. Caroline says this is her pub and he’s trespassing. She’s going to call the police. He rips the phone out of her hands and throws it. She reaches into one of the trays on the bar and pulls out a knife – get out or she’ll kill him. Trent chuckles. Caroline tells them that she didn’t kill Trent but she had murder in her heart at that very moment. She’s sorry. Mickey gets a call and steps out of the office. Bo wants to know why she didn’t tell them that before. Because it looked so bad – she doesn’t know why she picked up the knife – she was angry and frightened. She threatened him with the knife but she swears she didn’t kill him. They believe her. Roman asks a question – with Mickey out of the room this is off the record – what happened after that. They had a few words and then he left. Roman asks if Trent seen Max or Melanie. Caroline doesn’t know who he saw after he left. Roman says that’s good – that means there are no witnesses. Mickey returns – they spoke too soon. That was the DA – a couple of witnesses have come forward. They saw the lights on the pub and looked inside and saw Caroline holding a knife on Trent. Caroline – OMG. Now what? Mickey says we all know you couldn’t have murdered Trent Robbins. Roman agrees but somebody did and they damn well better find the real killer fast.
Hospital – Part 2: Kate is going to think positive – Daniel tells her that’s good. Kate isn’t going to fight him being in the OR. He promises to take good care of her. Philip walks into the exam room – he asks Kate what she is doing here. Kate looks at Daniel – I told you not to tell anyone. He didn’t. Philip says it’s not important how he found out – he’s not leaving until she tells him what’s going on.
Sami needs to process this before she tells EJ. Lucas tells her she doesn’t have much time – she’s pretty far along as it is. Sami knows – she will tell him but not right now. Lucas says this isn’t about her. Sami – to hell it isn’t – she’s the one who’s pregnant. Lucas says EJ is not stupid – he’s going to figure it out. Sami shrugs – maybe she’ll go away for awhile. Lucas knows she won’t do that – she won’t leave the twins – she has no choice. Sami says there are always options. Lucas knows that look in her eyes – if she starts scheming – if she does anything to screw this up. EJ is the father – he has a right to know. Sami wants to know why he’s sticking up for EJ – they hate each other. Lucas isn’t – but he isn’t going to allow her to sit here and keep this a secret like she did with Will. He doesn’t like the guy but he has a right to know. He pulls out his cell phone and calls EJ. Sami can’t believe he did that. Lucas says one day you’ll thank me for it. Sami states that this is not his business. Lucas agrees – he’s out of there. He tells her not to worry – he’s not going to be the one to tell EJ – she is. EJ arrives and asks what is wrong. No bones broken, no bleeding – that’s good. Is she sick? Sami doesn’t say anything. He asks her what is wrong. Sami tells him he shouldn’t have come – it wasn’t her idea. She tells him she fainted – it’s not a big deal. EJ thinks it is – did they run tests – do they know why this happened? Silence EJ – Samantha, answer my question. What’s wrong?
Kate tells Philip she is just having a few tests done. Philip wants the truth – he asks Dan – no answer. He then asks Dr. Jonas if he’s there as his mother’s doctor or lover. Daniel tells Kate he’s going to talk to Dr. Falk. Kate tells Philip that was way over the line. She tells him that she is having some out-patient surgery – that’s all. Lucas shows up – he was just going to leave the hospital when a nurse told him she was in the trauma center – what’s going on. Philip doesn’t know so the two of them gang up on Kate – they’ll call Austin and Billie if they have to. Kate tells them she is having a biopsy – they need some samples from her lung tissue. They found some abnormalities on her x-ray and want to check it out. There is a possibility that it may be lung cancer.
Preview: Philip to Kate – Daniel’s doing the biopsy? Kate – He’s helping with it Philip. Philip – Forget about it. No way in hell. John to Nicole – Are you willing to raise this child on your own. Nicole – I said I would and I meant it. Sami yelling at EJ – I don’t even want to see you right now. EJ – Look, Samantha, I was only having dinner. Sami – I don’t want to see you. Get out.

Brady Pub – Part 1: Inside - Philip leaves another message for Morgan – he apologises and wishes her well. Stephanie joins Max – they talk about Caroline. She’s upstairs trying to get some sleep. Max knows she is scared. Stephanie doesn’t blame her – if she’s convicted she could spend the rest of her life in jail. Max says that won’t happen – they’ll find a way to prove her innocent. Melanie walks in – she’s kind of surprised Caroline is out of jail. Stephanie wants to know if she actually believes that Caroline killed her father. Philip jumps to Melanie’s defence – Melanie was so convinced of Caroline’s innocence that she asked him to help her find the real killer. He had no idea who Melanie was but he couldn’t help feeling sorry for her. Max asks Philip if he agreed to investigate Trent’s murder. Philip didn’t but if he hears anything he’ll let them know. When he walks away Melanie comments that he’s so incredibly hot. Max thinks they need to talk – he takes her outside. Philip sees Chelsea – she whacks him across the head – she was on the phone with Morgan half the night. Philip feels awful – he didn’t mean to hurt her. When he realised he still had feelings for Chloe he came clean with her. Philip thinks Morgan is lucky to have a friend like Chelsea. He asks a favour of Chelsea – would she consider going a little easy on Kate. Chelsea asks why – she’s not that sick, is she? Philip tells her it’s complicated.
Chelsea wants to know what is wrong with Kate. Philip tells her that she is sick – he can’t say anymore or he’ll betray his mother’s trust. This is why she has to give her a break. Chelsea is going to see her. Philip tells her she can’t. Kate doesn’t want anyone to know until the doctor’s have a definite diagnosis. Chelsea asks – is she going to die? Philip is sure his mom will be beat this – she’s a fighter. He tells Chelsea to stay positive. He wants her to promise that she isn’t going to talk to her. She promises as long as Philip will call her if he gets any news. He will – he leaves to make a phone call. Stephanie comes over – Chelsea cries on her shoulder.
Outside - EJ finishes up his run. He calls the mansion to speak to Samantha. Mary tells him that Samantha isn’t there and hasn’t been all night. Max doesn’t want Melanie asking the Kiriakis family for any help. Melanie wants to know what he has against Philip. Nothing – they get along great but he knows what kind of person Philip is – he strings girls along and then when he keeps bored he finds someone new. Melanie does that with boys. She’s not going to marry the guy – she thinks he’s cute and thought he could help. Max tells her Philip is associated in shady business – the last guy he helped ended up in prison. Melanie asks – isn’t that where you think I should be? You accused me of being the one to kill our father and your girlfriend ran off and told the cops and now I can’t leave town. Max doesn’t want her to leave. She’s his sister and he cares about her. He apologises – he’s been mad at her lately. He hopes they can work on their relationship. She teases – that won’t happen if he keeps bossing her around. He thinks that’s a big brother’s job. He wants her to start making some good choices. Melanie will keep in mind what he said about Philip. Philip comes out – he wants to talk to Melanie. Max goes inside. Philip says I suppose he told you what a bad influence I am. Melanie says yeah but I can handle bad. Philip says yeah, I get that feeling.
Cabin – Part 1: Sami rolls over in bed and snuggles next to Lucas. She opens her eyes and sees EJ – this must be a dream. She touches his face and then kisses him. Sami pushes away once she realises its Lucas – OMG you jerk – you were kissing me. What happened last night – what did they do? Lucas says nothing happened – they just shared a bed. Sami remembers coming to the cabin and being upset about EJ and the situation. Lucas says they argued about whether she could spend the night – she was exhausted and passed out – that’s it. She asks how she ended up in his shirt. Lucas wanted her to be comfortable – it’s not like he hasn’t seen the goods before. He knows they’re not together anymore – he was a good boy, seriously. Sami says he was such a good boy that they ended up in bed kissing. He’s used to having Chloe in bed with him – it’s been one night. That’s it. Lucas is sorry about the kiss – she’s in love with EJ and he’s in love with Chloe. Sami asks Lucas what he thinks she should do. Lucas thinks she should tell EJ, the man she loves, that she’s pregnant with his child.
Sami needs more time. She has to figure out a few things like where EJ stands with Nicole and Stefano … Lucas tells her she can take as much time as she likes but he suggests she not wait too long – like it or not she’s starting to show. Lucas and Allie are ready to leave. Sami tells Lucas he’s right – she’s not going to get away with hiding it for much longer. Sami’s cell rings – it’s EJ. Where the hell have you been? Sami asked if he didn’t get her text. He didn’t. She sent him one last night because he didn’t want him to worry. She needed to clear her head and she can’t think at the mansion. She tells EJ that she needs to talk to him.
Hospital: Kayla overhears Marlena talking to Mickey telling him she’ll be picking up the divorce papers this morning. She asks Marlena if she is really going to divorce John now even though his life is at risk. She’s seen the x-rays – it’s serious. How can she abandon him now? Marlena isn’t abandoning him – she’ll do her best to see he gets the medical attention he needs but she just can’t be married to him right now. Kayla tells Marlena she has been in her position – when Steve came back he was a completely different person thanks to Stefano. She didn’t think she’d get her husband back but finally this miracle happened. She doesn’t want Marlena to give up to soon. Marlena has waited too long for her miracle. She knows it’s not coming – she has to move on with her life. Kayla thinks she is making a mistake. Kayla cares about Marlena and cares about what is best for her. Marlena responds – what is best for her is divorcing John. That doesn’t mean that is what she wants but she doesn’t know what else to do. Kayla says she can stand by him and figure out what kind of care is best for him.
Marlena is going to help him – she doesn’t need to be married to him to do that. Kayla thinks she would have more influence as his wife. Because of what Rolf did to him they won’t them run anymore tests. If they don’t find out what is wrong with him anything could happen – it could be fatal. Marlena will talk to him. Kayla asks – do you really think he’ll listen to you after you hand him those divorce papers. Marlena asks her what she wants her to do – hold off until he’s well again. Kayla says now that she thinks about it she thinks Marlena should march right over there and hand him the papers. She doesn’t know the new John all that well but she knows he likes a challenge. Maybe if Marlena serves him with divorce papers he will work extra hard to change her mind. Marlena says you think he might do anything at all to please me even get medical attention. Kayla does. So will Marlena use those divorce papers as leverage. Marlena won’t – she’s going through with the divorce no matter what but if she’s able to persuade John to get medical attention she’d be happy about that. Kayla wishes her luck.
DiMera mansion: Stefano is reading to Johnny – If you know both yourself and your enemy you can come out of hundreds of battles without danger. He tells Johnny the lesson in this old book is timeless. John walks in – Stefano must be getting desperate if he’s recruiting soldiers so young. Stefano doesn’t think it’s ever too early to teach a child about loyalty and power. John thinks that Stefano should spend more time with his grandchild and give up his battle for the DiMera empire. At this stage of his life he’s better suited to reading bedtime stories than running a business. Stefano won’t allow John to destroy everything he’s worked for. John is going to reply but experiences one of his headaches again. Stefano asks if he is still having those bothersome headaches. John replies – they’re not bad. It would help if Stefano would stop the construction on the east wing – the noise is driving him crazy. Stefano has an easy solution – move out. John says that’s not an option. Stefano recommends seeing a doctor. John is perfectly healthy – once he establishes control over the empire the headaches will be a thing of the past – much like Stefano. John leaves the room very unsteadily. EJ slams the outside door and comes into the living room and picks up Johnny. He asks Stefano – Where’s Samantha?
EJ comes back downstairs after putting Johnny to sleep. He asks Stefano again where Sami is. Stefano doesn’t know. EJ wants his word that he had nothing to do with Samantha disappearing. Stefano gives it. EJ tells him that Mary told him Sami’s bed hasn’t been slept in. Stefano thinks he’s overreacting. EJ says she was acting very strange when he saw her last night. He has this important meeting – if she hasn’t returned by the time he’s changed he’ll start calling around. Stefano offers to look after Giovanni. EJ says no, that’s not going to happen. EJ is ready to leave – he’s going to take Johnny with him. Stefano tells him to let the boy sleep – he is capable of looking after his grandchild. EJ doesn’t like it but he doesn’t have any choice. EJ says if he has any problems or Samantha reappears just call him. John is on the phone – he’s sure the board members have a lot of questions now that his brother is back. During his brother’s incapacitation he had a chance to go through the books. He thinks they will be very interested in what he has discovered.
The doorbell rings – John lurches to the door. Marlena asks him if he’s alright. Of course. Why is she here? Marlena brought the divorce papers – she’d like him to sign them. John thought she had changed her mind because the papers hadn’t arrived. She doesn’t really want to divorce him. She does – if he doesn’t care enough to go to the hospital and find out what’s wrong with him why should she stick around. She buried him once – she’s not doing it again. John isn’t letting her give up on their marriage. Marlena slaps the papers into his hand – too late for that. John throws the papers aside – no it’s not. He pulls her into a kiss.
Cemetery: Stefano pushes the stroller through the cemetery. This may be a little unorthodox but what better way to teach Giovanni about his ancestors. He’d love to take him to see some other family plots in New Orleans and Italy but that will have to wait for another day. His cell rings. John Black is a liar. So he’s polling all of the board members about having a new CEO – keep me posted. He tells Giovanni that his Uncle John is being a naughty boy. If he doesn’t watch himself he’ll find himself in one of these graves very soon. Sami comes along – what the hell is he doing with her son. Stefano just took him for a walk – he wanted to introduce his grandson to his forefathers. Sami calls him a freak. She came to the church to say a prayer and she saw him when she was going out to her car. She has made it clear that she doesn’t want him anywhere near his son. What is he doing with him? Stefano tells her Elvis asked him to baby-sit. Sami doesn’t believe him – EJ wouldn’t do that – he knows how she feels about Stefano. EJ had a very important meeting and there was no one else around including Giovanni’s mother. Sami thinks he should have asked someone else. Stefano feels it’s important that he spend time with his grandson because there will be a time when his grandchildren take over his legacy. Sami clutches her stomach.
Sami doesn’t give a damn about his legacy. She won’t allow him to influence her son’s life. Her cell rings – its EJ calling from Chez Rouge. Where is she – he thought she’d be there by now. She would have been but she ran into his father taking their son for a stroll through a cemetery. Did he really allow him to watch their son. He did – he didn’t have a choice. Mary had left for the day and she (Sami) was nowhere to be found. Sami doesn’t want him anywhere near Johnny. EJ says it’s not like he’s going to hurt him. Sami says what if he took him and they never saw their son again. EJ – he assured me wasn’t going to do that. Sami – you can’t trust him. EJ reminds her that Johnny is his son too so he gets a say in how he’s raised. Sami says they’ll talk about this later. EJ asks her to come to Chez Rouge and they’ll talk about this and whatever it was she wanted to talk to him about. Stefano tells Sami he knows that she and Elvis have been getting along pretty well lately and he doesn’t want to be a bother. He doesn’t want to come between her and his son. They belong together. He hopes that one day soon they will bless him with more heirs. In fact he hopes that day will come very soon, very soon indeed. After Sami and Johnny leave Stefano makes a call. He’s decided to let John have his meeting with the board. He thinks everyone is going to be surprised to see how competent he really is.
Brady Pub – Part 2: Outside - Melanie tells Philip she has no leads on her father’s killer. She searched his hotel suite and didn’t find anything. She’ll check his office next but the only conclusion she’s come to so far is that everyone hated her father. Philip says unfortunately that is true. He didn’t want to say anything in front of Max and Stephanie but he did some checking around. He found out some pretty bad stuff – stuff he thinks her dad would want to protect her from. Melanie knows first hand what that bastard is capable of. She’s glad that he’s dead. He was a horrible person. You would think she would be a little more loyal to him – she wasn’t exact the best daughter. Philip tells her its okay. Melanie says no it’s not, not at all. She feels so guilty because she was so mad at her dad and she wished he would die – and then he did. She needs a tissue – she drops her purse and stuff spills out. Philip picks up Trent’s wallet (he doesn’t know that it belongs to Trent) and hands it to a very relieved Melanie.
Inside - Kayla tells Max she just saw Ma – she seems to be doing better. She mentions that she passed Melanie on the way in – has he smoothed thinks over with her. Max thinks they’re cool again – she’s not so bad after all. Kayla is glad he’s not giving up on her – she wants him to get to know his sister. Max wants to be there for her. With Trent gone she’s all alone. He hopes that now that Trent is no longer an influence in her life she’ll chill out and they’ll get to know the real Melanie.
Chez Rouge: Lucas walks in and asks EJ if he talked to Sami. He has – she’s always full of surprises, isn’t she? Lucas – so you were cool with it when she told you? EJ says told me what … Lucas just shakes his head.
Cabin – Part 2: Sami is rocking the stroller talking to herself. Sorry I ditched you EJ but I can’t deal with you right now. I think Stefano knows I’m pregnant. Oh god, what am I going to do?
Preview: Marlena to John – I want my husband back. Do you think you could be that person? Sami to Lucas – I have to find some way to protect my children from Stefano. Nicole to EJ – Who do you want to build a life with? Sami or me?

DiMera mansion – Part 1: Marlena breaks the kiss – they shouldn’t be doing this – it doesn’t feel right. It feels right to John – he kisses her again. Marlena stops him – she doesn’t want this. She wants him to sign the divorce papers. John thinks she is making a big mistake. Marlena thinks the only mistake being made is him not going to the hospital to find out what’s causing the headaches. John insists he’s fine. Marlena says if he’s not going to get himself some help there is no reason to stay here. John stops her from leaving. What does he have to do to convince her to stay in this marriage? She tells him he has to go to the hospital and have the tests done. John – Absolutely (long pause) not! She tells him again to sign the divorce papers. He asks her to stay. She says they have said all they have to say to each other – she wants him to be the man she married and he’s not willing to change. She can’t keep settling for less than she deserves. He asks if she is saying he’s not good enough. She says they just keep hurting each other. He talks about her being in the hospital – that’s when he decided to fight for this marriage. She reminds him he doesn’t know what he’s fighting for. He feels he has good instincts and something told him it would be a bad thing if he lost her. He can’t lose her but apparently he can’t give her everything she needs. He can’t go to the hospital but he has made other changes – he lists them. What more does she want from him. She wants her husband back. Does he think he could be that person? He answers no. Marlena thinks they have tried their best – it wasn’t meant to be. Just sign the papers. He can’t – not when he knows how much she cares for him – he feels the same way about her – trust him. She can’t trust him or his feelings – she has no idea what’s in his head and in his heart. John says he’s been trying to tell her but he can’t find the right words. Marlena can’t argue anymore. She tells him to see a doctor before it’s too late for him. She leaves. John picks up the divorce papers – he knocks over a vase – I won’t lose.
Chez Rouge: When EJ asks Lucas ‘when she told me what’ Lucas realises Sami hasn’t told him. EJ has only spoken to her on the phone – she is meeting him here but she’s late. He tells Lucas that she’s acting stranger than normal even for her. She didn’t come home and when she called she sounded frazzled – she said she said something important to tell him. Obviously Lucas knows what’s going on. Lucas doesn’t know if he should be the one to tell him. Nicole walks in and talks to her baby. EJ deserves to know he’s your father. Lucas tells EJ he doesn’t know what Sami’s important news is. He spoke to Sami earlier – she sounded upset and she was worried about upsetting EJ – that’s all she said. Nicole joins them – she doesn’t mean to be rude but Lucas – get lost – she needs to talk to EJ. Lucas leaves after EJ protests. Nicole wants to know why he didn’t return his call. He told her he was busy. Nicole brings up Sami. EJ reminds her that Sami is the mother of his son. Nicole wants to talk in private. EJ is very busy right now. Nicole gets hostile. She brings up their date and him leaving as soon as Sami called. EJ says again that he’s meeting someone. Nicole tells him when that person shows up you’ll tell them you can’t meet with them because you’re in the middle of a life-changing discussion. He asks what she is talking about. She thinks he should be able to figure it out. He tells her if it’s about the date – they can reschedule. Nicole makes several smart remarks. EJ doesn’t have time … Nicole tells him to free up the rest of his day because she has something important to tell him.
EJ and Nicole sit at a table. He explains that he went to see Sami at the hospital – she fainted. Nicole says a person doesn’t faint for no reason – why did it happen. He doesn’t know – he’s hoping that she’s going to tell him that when she gets here. Nicole realises he’s meeting Sami. EJ is terrified she’s going to tell him something about Johnny. Nicole tells him not to use his son as a cover. EJ states that is what binds him to Samantha – Johnny’s the only reason he cares about her. If she needs to talk to him he’s going to make that a priority. That’ a deal-breaker for Nicole. If it is going to work between them Sami can’t be a part of their lives. EJ tells her that she can’t ask him to cut his son’s mother out of his life. He thought she understood his situation. He’s really sorry if he hurt her feelings last night. She said what he did was humiliating and horrible and she won’t allow him to do that to her again. Nicole thinks he would make any excuse to spend time with Samantha. She accuses him of playing manipulative games – she won’t stand for him running to Sami all the time. More words are exchanged – Nicole says this is going to stop – he has to make a decision. Who does he want to build a life with – Sami or her?
EJ wants both women in his life. Nicole tells him that is not going to work. She knows he is connected to Sami because of their kid but he can’t be in love with the both of them – that’s not going to cut it for her. EJ says the situation is very complicated emotionally. Nicole needs to know who has his heart. EJ asks her to please let it be for right now. She says no. EJ thinks she is putting him in an impossible position. This is a new relationship between them and he needs to know where it’s going before he makes any kind of commitment. Nicole wants to be with him – if he doesn’t feel the same way she needs to know now. EJ – I care about you and Samantha very much. Nicole has her answer. She appreciates his honestly. She gets up to leave. He asks her what it was that she was going to tell him. She tells him it doesn’t matter now and walks away.
EJ sees Marlena enter and asks if she has seen Samantha. She hasn’t – she joins him. She tells him about John’s headaches – she has tried unsuccessfully to get John to go to the hospital and get the tests done he needs. She feels his life may be in jeopardy. She thinks that this is a chance for EJ to do something good – she mentions Johnny and Sami – EJ laughs – she plays dirty – he’ll do it.
Cabin: Sami rummages through the diaper bag looking for a pacifier. She pulls out a rattle that has the symbol of the phoenix on it. Sami is lying on the couch having a nap. She has a dream about Johnny (he’s in college) – he’s smoking and drinking with Stefano. He talks about grandfather making sure he gets straight A’s next semester. He could the marks on his own but why waste their power and influence. Sami has another dream – this times she dreams of Stefano and Johnny terrorizing a man for double-crossing them – Johnny shoots the guy in cold blood – Sami screams. Lucas runs in – is she alright? She has to find some way to protect her children from Stefano. She tells him about the nightmares. Lucas tells her to relax – she’ll raise him the right way. She’s terrified she won’t be able to protect him from Stefano. Lucas says he’ll help her as much as he can. Sami doesn’t know if they can – she thinks Stefano knows she is pregnant – she tells him what he had said and that he was staring at her stomach. Lucas thinks she better tell EJ before Daddy does. Sami doesn’t think she can do that. She doesn’t know if she can put this baby in jeopardy like that.
Lucas tells her it’s the right to do – telling EJ about his kid. Sami asks him if he doesn’t think everyone’s life would be better if Johnny was his child. It was only after they found out he was EJ’s that everything went wrong. They would still be together if it wasn’t for that one simple truth. Lucas isn’t so sure about that. Sami says it’s too late for Johnny but it’s not too late to protect the child growing inside of her. After seeing Stefano with Johnny today her decision is clear. She’s not going to tell EJ that he is the father of her baby. Lucas tells her not to let fear drive her into a bad decision. Sami is sure about this – she is going to let her child have a life free of Stefano’s influence. Lucas tells her not to tell Stefano but she has to tell EJ. Sami has made her decision – she’s asking him to respect that. Lucas can’t. Sami says then it’s none of his business – bud out. Lucas is sorry – if she’s not going to tell EJ that she is pregnant with his child, he will. He walks out that door – Sami yells for him to wait – they need to talk about this.
DiMera mansion – Part 2: Stefano comes into the living room and starts telling John about his afternoon with Giovanni. John doesn’t care. Stefano wonders if he is in a foul mood because of Marlena. He offers some brotherly advice – stay away from Marlena. She is a dangerous woman and she will destroy your life. He was in love with her once – John heard about his obsession. Stefano laughs –nonsense – he just does things on a grander scale than others. She turned on him and he ended up in a catatonic state for months. John says she was just protecting him. Stefano – now she’s rejecting you. It’s ridiculous to pine for her – he suggests that he sign the divorce papers. John wants to know how he knew about the divorce papers. Stefano knows everything – John would do well to remember that. He walks out of the living room – John suffers another headache and ends up on the floor in convulsions – Stefano watches.
Nicole walks in as John is trying to get up. Nicole calls an ambulance – but John tells her to hang up. She thinks he should get his headaches checked out. He will make an appointment tomorrow. Nicole tells him their deal is off – she doesn’t need his help to get EJ anymore. She doesn’t want him to be a part of her or her baby’s life. Nicole is not convinced that she wants this baby to know who it’s father is – the DiMera family is pretty messed up. She’s so angry that she has these feelings for EJ – she knows how much he hurts her. She should be strong and say she doesn’t need him or want him but she does. John tells her it’s going to be difficult raising that child on her own now that Victor is taking back that settlement. She has no income – no one to pay her bills. She’ll figure something out. John offers to help – he has a lot of money. He’s in a position to help her. Nicole doesn’t want his money – she takes his hands – what she does want is his friendship – she could really use that right now.
Preview: Bo to Roman – If we don’t make any progress Ma is going to end up behind bars again. Roman – Yeah, only this time it could be for good. Max (holding up a newspaper) to Stephanie – How’s that for a headline? (Top Cop’s Mother Arrested For Murder) Stephanie – Oh God. Drunk Nick to Roman and Bo – Am I in trouble? Roman – Well that would be a pretty good assumption Nick. Nick – Because of me Trent Robbins is dead.

Wednesday Oct 8
Cabin: Lucas comes back – it’s the next morning. Sami will never forgive him for telling EJ. Lucas didn’t but he feels EJ has the right to know and Sami is going to be the one to tell him. Sami is not telling EJ anything. Lucas states she has to. As much as he loathes the man he has a right to know about his kid just like he had the right to know about Will. Sami thought they were past that. Lucas hasn’t gotten past it – he forgave her but he’s not going to forget. She has to stop messing with people’s lives and grow up and take responsibility – Sami turns away – she doesn’t know why she’s talking to him about this. He thinks she’s talking to him because of her great future with EJ. He’s the one she wants to be with – doesn’t she think she should be honest with him. She should be able to trust him, right? She doesn’t trust Stefano. She can’t let him find out that he’s going to have another grandchild. Lucas feels he’ll find out sooner or later and then when he finds out she lied to him … Sami will take her chances. Lucas says fine – do it – he walks out. He returns – he forgot his phone. They talk about Allie who is awake now. Lucas tells Sami that he knows they are not together anymore but he still cares. If EJ is the one that makes her happy than he’s happy. Sami admits that she is nervous about telling EJ because she is afraid of how he’s going to react. Lucas – don’t you think he wants more kids? Sami doesn’t think he wants her. Lucas tells her to talk to someone else and get their opinion on this. Sami says – my parents.
Max’s living quarters – Part 1: He and Stephanie are in bed. He thanks her for taking his mind off of everything. She tells him his mom will be cleared. She made bail – she’s at home. She’ll be fine. Max returns with the Salem Spectator. There’s a headline that reads ‘Top Cop’s Mother Arrested For Murder’. He knew the media was going to pick up on this. Stephanie wonders what happened to innocent until proven guilty. Max – innocent doesn’t sell papers. He saw someone from Ch 15 hanging around the pub – none of the staff will say anything – they’re loyal. Stephanie wants this to go away so they can all move on. Max says it won’t until Roman and Bo find the real murderer. Stephanie thinks they should do some digging on their own. Max comes up will all kinds of reasons why they shouldn’t do that. Stephanie figured he’d do anything to clear his mom’s name. He would but he thinks they should stay out of this and let the police handle this. Stephanie wants to know what’s really going on here. Max doesn’t want her involved – end of discussion. Stephanie thinks he’s protecting Melanie. Max says if he was trying to protect her it’s because she’s his sister – not that that means anything to her. The argument goes on – Stephanie thinks Melanie has done nothing but screw up his life since the day he met her. They are talking about murder – if he’s covering for his sister … Max interrupts – does she really think he would cover for his sister while letting his mother go down for murder. Stephanie says no he wouldn’t. Max knows Melanie isn’t Stephanie’s favourite person but please do him a favour and cut her a break.
Police Station – Part1: Bo is pacing in the office – he tells Roman if they don’t make some progress Ma will end up back in jail. Roman agrees – only this time it could be for good. Bo opens the door and asks one of the officers to check if there has been any progress on identifying those fibres – make it happen fast. Roman’s money is on Nicole – it wouldn’t be the first time she’s done something like this – they mention Victor. Bo isn’t so sure – Melanie is at the top of his suspect list. So far she has managed to fly under the radar – they don’t know much about her. He doesn’t trust her. They hear a cop yelling in the outer office and rush out. A cop tells Roman that he caught this guy by the university – ran a red light – blood alcohol level of point one six. Nick guesses he’s in trouble. Roman tells him that’s a good assumption to make. Bo says what are you thinking – this isn’t like you. Nick tells them that his life sucks. He doesn’t have a girlfriend, he’s behind on his credit card bills, he chipped his tooth on some popcorn last night and to top it all off Trent Robbins is dead because of him. Roman asks him if he’s saying that is his fault. Nick – totally, completely my fault.
Nick tells them he wants his ‘Melinda’ rights. Bo asks him why he feels he’s responsible for Robbins’s death. Nick is the reason he came to Salem in the first place. If Trent hadn’t learned about his prototype he never would have come to Salem and if he hadn’t come Max wouldn’t have met him. If Max hadn’t met him he wouldn’t have found out he had a sister and wouldn’t have gone to France and if Melanie hadn’t come here none of this would have happened – this is really complicated. Bo asks him what Melanie has to do with this. Nick is going to be sick – they call for Lopez to take Nick down the hall. Roman and Bo are back in the office – Roman asks about Nick – he’s still a suspect. Bo doesn’t think he’d do it – he’s a good kid. Roman thinks they should keep an open mind – maybe Nick was drinking away some guilt. He brings up Willow Stark. Bo says that was an accident not murder. Roman doesn’t think they should close the book on Nick just yet. In the outer office Maggie approaches Nick and ties into him for drinking and driving. She’s so disappointed in him. Nick swears this will never happen again. The lecture continues – she tells him what could have happened if there had been another car at that intersection when he ran the red light. He could have been killed or he could have killed someone else. She’s seen too many people destroyed by alcohol including herself – she’s not going to let that happen to him. Bo comes out of the office and tells Lopez to take Nick to booking. Maggie is going to call Mickey.
Bo and Roman are in the office talking about Ma and Bo’s home life – he hasn’t been home for three nights. Mayor Merino comes in – he wants to talk to them about their mother. Roman tells him their mother is out on bail at home resting – they have been keeping him updated with progress reports. The Mayor approves of the way they are handling the Robbins case – he thought they’d like to know. Roman assures him they’re doing the best they can to close this case as soon as possible. The mayor thinks it must be tough with their mother as the prime suspect. He glances at the suspect board – it looks like there’s another Brady on it – Max is their brother – is he right. Interesting. He tells them to keep up the good work and leaves. Bo says they have to get Max off that list. Roman tells Bo they have to get a warrant to see if any of Max’s clothing matches the fibres they found on Trent’s body. Bo places a call to Judge Cooper’s clerk – he needs a search warrant rushed through – it’s Max Brady.
Cemetery: Melanie stares down at the bloodstained headstone on Shawn Brady’s headstone and begins to remember events of the night of her father’s murder. Trent was so pleased to get her call. She asks him why she always has to fix his mistakes. He answers – because you love me. Show me how much by bailing me out of this jam. She can’t believe he’s asking her to do this again. Trent shrugs – if things had gone smoother in France this wouldn’t be a problem. Melanie says you’re supposed to protect her from stuff like this. Trent believes he gave her a cushy life and she repaid him by lying, stealing and whoring her way around Europe. She says it wasn’t like that but even if it was true isn’t he supposed to love her anyway. Trent doesn’t think this is about his feelings. He’s done so much for her – she owes him. Melanie doesn’t owe him anything. His love is so conditional – there are so many strings attached. That is why she is the way she is – he made her that way. Trent tells her not to talk to him like that. You obey me – it’s your duty – now come with me. He tries to grab her – she pulls out a knife and tells him to never touch her again.
Trent tries to get her to put down the knife – she won’t. He tries to smooth talk her – she’s his pride and joy. She reminds him he just called her a whore. Trent didn’t turn her into airhead bimbo. Melanie disagrees. She asks him if she went to his buddy right now and let him put his slimy hands all over her would he leave her alone after that – would he quit gambling. Trent would. Melanie calls him a liar. Trent looks at the knife – she has her hand down at the side of her body now. Melanie walks to the police tape and remembers more. She raises the knife when Trent steps forward. Trent knows she won’t hurt him. Now that he sees how distraught she is he withdraws his request – he’ll get the money some other way. Put the knife down and let’s go home. Melanie’s home is with Max. When she first ran into Max in that café and he introduced himself as her brother she thought it was a sick joke because how could her father keep something so important from him. Trent tells her Max isn’t like them – he has no future, no ambition. Melanie said for about a millisecond she felt sorry for Max because his father threw him out like some piece of trash but you know what – Max was the lucky one – he didn’t have to grow up with Trent. Melanie walks back to the headstone.
Melanie would give anything to have what Max has – a family to love and support him. She bets his parents were there for ball games and science fairs. Trent states – the Brady’s weren’t Max’s parents. Melanie feels that Caroline and Shawn saved Max from Trent – but who is going to save her? She tells Trent she’s not going to save him again – she’s also not going to kill him – she drops the knife. But if he doesn’t leave him alone she’ll disappear and he’ll never see her again. Max is the only one she’d miss. Trent says she doesn’t mean that – they always fight and make up. He suggests they go back to his place. Melanie asks – then what? You’ll talk me into having sex with your friend – not going to happen. She starts walking away – Trent grabs – she’ll do what he says. She pulls away and yells I told you not to touch me again. She remembers reaching for the knife … She frowns – how can I remember this? Her cell rings – Stephanie wants her at the police station because Max is being questioned about Trent’s murder.
Max’s living quarters – Part 2: Max and Stephanie are about to leave when there’s a knock on the door. It’s Roman, Bo and a uniformed cop – Bo gives Max the search warrants – this shouldn’t take long. Stephanie thinks this is insane – he’s their brother. Max tells them they won’t find anything. Bo says they still have to look. The cop comes out with the bloodstained shirt. Roman asks Max where the blood came from. He had an altercation with Trent a few nights ago. Roman – the night he was murdered? Max knows this looks bad – he didn’t kill him. Roman tells the cop to bag it and have the lab check if the blood matches Trent Robbins and also check the shirt against the fibres found on the body. They tell Max he has to come down to the station.
Police Station – Part2: Maggie visits Nick’s cell. She asks him why he went out to drink. Nick had a stressful week – he went to the Cheating Heart to have a couple of beers than Dr. Jonas walked in. Nick wonders why Chelsea breaking up with him still hurts after six months. Maggie tells him that Chelsea was his first love – it always hurts the worse. Does he want to get back together with her? He says they’ll remain friends – he thinks things will get better once he’s with someone else. Maggie asks if he’s interested in Max’s sister.
Max, Stephanie, Bo and Roman are in the office. Roman and Bo are upset with Max – he knew he was a suspect – he put them in a rough spot. Max yells – I didn’t do it – why don’t you believe me. Bo yells back – Because you grow up around cops and you do something like this. You get into a fight with a man on the same night he was murdered and you don’t tell us. You just want to the top of the suspect list. Roman wants to talk to Max – Bo and Stephanie leave. Roman tells Max to tell him everything that happened starting at the top. Bo comes in with the lab reports. Roman says the blood on Max’s shirt is Trent Robbins’. Bo – the fibres … Roman – they’re from Max’s shirt.
Melanie and Stephanie get into it in the outer office. Stephanie thinks Melanie is taking advantage of Max. Melanie says Max is my brother – let him decide how he feels about me. Stephanie says he’s already decided – he thinks you’re totally cool. Melanie thinks Stephanie can’t stand that because she wants to be everything to Max. Stephanie can’t stand Melanie making Max look like a fool – she pretends to be devoted to him, to love him but all she is doing is using him. Melanie thinks Stephanie is so creepily possessive that she can’t stand it when Max pays attention to someone else – even his sister. Didn’t anyone ever her tell guys don’t like the clingy, jealous type. Stephanie says her and Max are doing fine. Melanie declares that it’s not going to last not with her being so damn needy and pathetic – she’s surprised it lasted this long. Stephanie loves Max because he’s the nicest person she knows – he sees the good in everyone. Melanie has done so many nasty things to him but he still feels the need to protect her. Max is the one in trouble now and Melanie is the only one that can help him. Melanie asks how – by confessing to my father’s murder even though I’m not the one who did it. Melanie doesn’t understand why Max is wasting his time on a bitch like Stephanie. Roman asks Stephanie to come into the office. Melanie listens at the door as Bo asks Max what happened when he and Melanie showed up at Trent’s door. Max says he wouldn’t let Trent hurt Melanie. He was trying to force her to have sex with that Claude guy again. The next thing he knows they’re exchanging punches – he landed one on Trent’s mouth. Then Nick and Chelsea showed up and stopped the fight and then they were out of there. Bo asks if that was the last time he saw Robbins alive. Max says absolutely. He asks them what’s going to happen. Bo says it’s all circumstantial but they got a lot, the shirt, the blood, the threats – he has to present it to the DA. Unless something else turns up little brother – you’re all we got. In the outer office Melanie goes to her purse and pulls out Trent’s wallet and smirks.
Preview: Nicole to Philip – So Morgan’s in Chicago. Where does that leave you? Philip – With plenty of free time baby. Nick to Hope – You know when the university finds out about this I’ll probably be suspended from the faculty. What am I supposed to do about that? Melanie to Bo – I’d stop focusing on people like me and start focusing on some of his real enemies.

Hospital: Kate is told to stay in bed but she removes her breathing apparatus from her nose and gets up. Daniel comes in and tells her to get back into bed. She isn't going to but she has a really bad coughing spell and does what she's told. Once she's breathing better she asks when her results are coming in - Daniel doesn't know. Kate complains that she has been there over 24 hours already. She has a business to run - she missed 3 meetings today and they're launching a new cookware line - she's the face of Hearth and Home - she has to be there. Daniel tells her she has a serious illness - there is nothing more important than her health. She picks up the pamphlets Dr. Falk gave her - according to these she doesn't have much time - she doesn't want to spend that time in the hospital. Daniel tells her not to pay attention to statistics - and to wait until they know what they're dealing with. She's a fighter - that's half the battle. He tells her he'll go down to the lab and check on the progress of the biopsy. As soon as he leaves Kate gets up and gets dressed. When Daniel returns Kate tells him she is leaving and to call her when they get her results. He tries to get her to wait for portable oxygen but she won't.
Park - Part 1: Abe and Lexie bring Theo to the park to meet up with the babysitter. Lexie gives the sitter instructions and hands over a backpack that contains juice and snacks. They tell her Theo likes to play in the sandbox but lately he's been mostly playing with the fallen leaves. They leave. Later on we see the babysitter sitting on a bench talking on her cell while Theo plays with a pile of leaves. He gets up and wanders away as she continues talking.
Chez Rouge: Philip joins Nicole. Nicole asks about Morgan. When she finds out they split up she asks if he is going to get back together with Chloe - she's seen the sparks between them. Philip says they may have chemistry but that doesn't take them very far. He thinks Lucas is good for Chloe. Nicole doesn't agree - women talk. She mentions the fact that Lucas lives in a cabin in the middle of nowhere that doesn't even have an indoor shower. She then mentions that Chloe isn't all that keen on being a mother. Philip thinks she knows a lot - what can she tell him about her dead husband. Nicole has nothing good to say. She doesn't like the timing of his death - she wishes he had been killed before Victor found out they were still married. She and Caroline Brady aren't friends but she doesn't believe that Caroline killed him - her money is on the person who has his wallet. She gets up to take a call. Philip calls Bo - he's coming to the station - he has a tip on the murder case.
Abe and Lexie meet with Scott - he tells them he convinced Evan to run Abe's campaign. Merino shows up - so it's true, Abe is going to run against him. Abe tells the mayor that he knows that they've had their differences in the past - he offers his hand - here's to a good campaign. The mayor shakes his hand. He's surprised that Abe is willing to put his family in the spotlight - he says you have a slow son - Abe almost loses it but Lexie holds him back - and your wife is a DiMera. He then tells Evan he's backing the wrong guy. He walks away. Abe tells them he's all in - he's ready to be the mayor.
Police Station: Nick's cell - Hope comes to see Nick - she doesn't feel sorry for him at all when he mentions that he'll probably get suspended from the faculty. She really ties into him. She lectures him about drinking and driving. Nick is almost in tears - he didn't even think about Zack - he's sorry. Hope says she didn't lose Zack because of a drunk driver - Zack was killed because Chelsea was driving without paying attention. Chelsea says she's right and I'll have to let with it for the rest of her life. It's Chelsea's turn to lecture Nick. Hope leaves them alone. After the lecture Chelsea notices the bruises on his knuckles - he tells her he hit his hand on something in the lab. Melanie is listening and she recalls him telling her he must have hurt his hand in France. Chelsea wants to know why he got so drunk. He feels responsible for Trent's death - he came to town because of him. Chelsea tells him to think of it in a different way - because Trent was in town Max found out he had a sister and he found his sister and saved her from being raped. With Trent dead maybe Melanie has a chance of having a good life now. Melanie couldn't have said it better herself. She asks Nick how he ended up in jail. He tells her it's a long story. Nick asks Chelsea to leave but the guard comes along and tells them the visit is over. Alone in his cell Nick says 'Oh god, what have I done?'
Offices - In the outer office Stephanie tells Max he could be arrested. He hopes he is - that way the charges against his mother would be dropped. Melanie notices Stephanie's purse laying on one of the desks. Bo comes in - Max is free to go - the DA is not pressing charges. Max asks why - Bo says most people are happy to hear that news. Max wants Ma to be free - Bo assures him they'll find the real killer. While Bo is talking to Max and Stephanie Melanie gets up, wipes the fingerprints off Trent's wallet and puts it in Stephanie's purse. He tells Max and Stephanie that they are free to leave - Melanie has to stay. After they leave Bo suggests to Melanie that she have a lawyer present. She doesn't need one - she has nothing to hide. She didn't kill her father. She mentions that her father had a serious gambling problem - he owed a lot of people money - big money - money they would kill for. She suggests that the cops stop focusing on the people they are and focus on those that really hated her father. Bo tells her he's done questioning her but cautions her not to leave town. He also tells her that Max is no more guilty than his mother but he isn't sure about her. He hopes that Max isn't let down by her. He adds that when she's done playing this game she's playing she'll slip up and he'll be there.
Hope comes up from visiting Nick. They talk about Nick. They still don't think he's the killer. Bo tells Hope he thinks it's Melanie - she's bad news. Philip comes in - he sees Melanie talking to one of the officers and asks Bo if he was questioning her. Philip tells them that Melanie asked for his help in finding her father's killer. He had Titan Security do a background check on Trent - he was a real loser. Bo asks him what the tip was he had for them. Philip says it's not a tip - he wants to help improve Titan's image - he'd like to have the company more involved in the community - perhaps they could start a fund for the families of fallen officers. Hope will talk to the financial analyst and get back to someone in Titan with their recommendations. Philip leaves the office and leaves Bo and Hope wondering what that was about. Philip goes to Melanie - he wants to talk to her about her father's wallet. If she doesn't talk to him he'll tell Bo that she has it. Melanie agrees but doesn't want to talk here.
Brady Pub: Max and Stephanie return. Caroline is working - she's upset that Roman and Bo took Max in. He tells her he's fine. Caroline gets a call from Mickey. Max thanks Stephanie for standing by him. She goes into the kitchen. Max accidentally knocks her purse off the bar. He finds Trent's wallet in Stephanie's purse.
Park - Part 2: Abe really wants to win the campaign but he's conflicted. He won't have all that much free time to spend with her and Theo. Lexie tells him not to worry she'll make sure they carve out family time. The sitter comes running towards them waving Theo's backpack - Theo is gone.
Preview: Chelsea - Daniel, please do not pull this patient privacy stuff on me, okay. Daniel - Just find her and get her back here. Roman (with Marlena) to Sami - Are you in some kind of trouble? Sami - Yes I'm in big trouble and I need you both to tell me what to do. Lexie grabbing Theo's cap from an officer - Where did you this? Cop - On the south side of the park lying near the robe. Abe hugs Lexie.

Friday Oct 10
Brady Pub: Nicole is sitting at the bar waiting for her takeout order. Sami comes in – her parents aren’t there yet. The only empty place in the pub is the bar stool next to Nicole. Sami reluctantly sits down after her and Nicole had already exchanged insults. Nicole asks Sami if she’s gained weight. Sami denies that she has. Pete places a plate of steamed clams down on the bar and both of them run off sick. They both return – Nicole needed air – Sami felt nauseous from Nicole’s cheap perfume. Sami decides to leave just as Roman and Marlena arrive. (They had talked outside the pub – first about John and the divorce and then about Sami. For her to want to talk to the both of them must be serious). Sami sits with them and tells them she didn’t want to say anything until Nicole left – she’s such a blabbermouth. They want to know why she needed to see them. She tells them she just hadn’t talked to them for a long time – she then talks about Caroline being arrested for murder and how ridiculous that is – she thinks Nicole did it.
Roman and Marlena both want to know what this is really about – did she do something wrong. Sami gets indignant then says you could say she was partially involved. They ask if she’s in trouble – she’s in big trouble. She can’t bring herself to tell them so she asks if it’s every okay to keep something from someone you love if that secret would hurt someone else. Marlena says absolutely not. Sami brings up the fact that Marlena kept her affair with John a secret from Roman. Marlena says she hurt everyone by doing that – she hopes she has learned from her mistakes. She stands by her answer. Sami says what if the secret could hurt an innocent? Sami will tell them if they promise not to tell anyone – they can’t make that promise. They won’t keep her secret if it hurts someone else. They ask about the innocent child. Marlena and Roman assume she is talking about Johnny – they know how worried she is about Stefano and his influence over Johnny but she’ll make sure that Johnny has a normal, happy life – they’ll all help her. Sami tells them that yes she does worry about Johnny but Johnny is not who she is talking about it. She’s sorry she can’t tell them but they have helped her. She’s going to tell the one person who needs to hear this and she’s going to tell him before someone else does. She leaves. Roman wonders if she is talking about Lucas. Marlena’s money is on EJ.
DiMera mansion: John is sitting and having a drink – he has a flashback to asking Marlena what he had to do to convince her to stay married to him. EJ comes in – John wants him to leave – EJ tells John he promised Marlena he would talk to him and that’s what he is going to do. Marlena told him about his blackouts and headaches. He tells John that Marlena loves him. John doesn’t think so – she’s divorcing him. EJ thinks that Marlena is only doing that because he’s not showing her that he cares for her. He understands why John is afraid of going to the hospital after what Stefano had the mad scientist do to him – no one blames him for being afraid. John says unfortunately he’s not afraid. He refuses to say more. EJ feels sorry for him. Not because Stefano wiped away his memories but because he left him incapable of feeling any human emotion – he’s just an empty shell. EJ tells John that Marlena is worried that he could die. John thinks EJ would be happy about that – less of the family fortune to have to share. John says he will die as he lived – on his own terms. EJ continues to try and convince John to change his mind. John keeps refusing – at one point he tells EJ that the old John Black is gone for good. EJ responds that Marlena doesn’t believe that. John thinks the divorce papers say otherwise – he wants EJ to mind his own business. EJ tells John that he is devoid of compassion and walks out. John makes a call – I need to see you.
Nicole arrives – John tells her he needs a friend. He asks her if she thinks he is incapable of emotion – of feeling. She thinks he’s just misunderstood like her. John tells her he gave her bad advice – she needs to tell Elvis about the baby. Nicole doesn’t want to. John says it’s going to be difficult to raise the rug-rat on her own without any help. A man has the right to know that he’s fathered a child. From what he’s observed his nephew is a good father – unlike him. Either she tells him or her will. EJ walks in. He wants to know what they’re talking about. Nicole says it’s nothing important. John says on the contrary it’s very important to EJ. Sami comes in and gives herself a pep-talk – she can tell EJ. She gets to the door just as Nicole tells EJ she is having his baby.
Park – Part 1: Lexie is having a complete meltdown – she screams at Lacy – this is all her fault. Abe remains calm and tries to calm Lexie down. He wants to go over what happened again. Lacy tells them she just turned her back on him for a second. She looked all over and called for him. Lexie thinks that maybe someone took him. Abe tells her not to think the worst – a cop comes along – they haven’t found Theo but they did find his cap. They found it on the south side of the park by the road. Lexie wants the cop to take her to Theo – that’s one of the busiest streets. The cop says there were no accidents – they’ll keep looking. Lexie is sure she is right – he’s been kidnapped.
Hospital: Chelsea got Daniel’s message. He wants her to find Kate and convince her to come back to the hospital ASAP. Chelsea knows Kate is ill but Philip said to let on that she knows because Kate doesn’t want them to worry. She asks Daniel to tell her what’s wrong with Kate. All Daniel can tell her is that Kate was admitted for tests. He wanted her to stay but she left – it’s imperative that he run these additional tests on her. Theo comes running in – he says Chelsea and shows her his giraffe ‘zoo’. She asks him if he’s there with his mom and dad – no, did his sitter bring him – no. Daniel calls Lexie and tells her that Theo is at the hospital. Chelsea asks Theo to promise to never wander off on his own again. Abe and Lexie arrive – Lexie calls Theo’s name very loudly (Theo covers his ears) … LOL!
Park – Part 2: Abe and Lexie bring Theo back to the park – they had to thank all the volunteers. Abe suggests ice cream. He tells Theo this is not a reward for running off – he must never do that again. Abe tells Lexie they should be proud of Theo – he made it to the hospital on his own to see Chelsea – he’s formed a real bond with her. He mentions how Theo hugged her with genuine affection. They ask for a hug but don’t get one. Abe shrugs –one step at a time.
Preview: Melanie to Philip – I thought you just wanted to help me. Philip – Why did you have your dead father’s wallet? Melanie – Because he gave it to me. EJ to Nicole (Sami is listening) – I don’t know what to say. Stephanie to Max – Max, what’s wrong? Max – Trent’s wallet. I found it in your purse.

Tuesday Oct 14
Brady Pub: Upstairs - Max is in the shower; Stephanie calls to speak with Bo but he's not in. She's about to put Trent's wallet in her purse when Max comes into the room. When he finds out that she is going to go to the police he gets angry. She can't turn his sister in. He says first she accused Melanie of being the killer and then him - which one is it. Stephanie apologises for thinking he killed Trent but he did say that he knew for a fact that Melanie wasn't the killer. They know that the only way Melanie could have had the wallet was if she killed him. Max takes the wallet - he'll take care of it. He's going to destroy it. Stephanie tells him that he may be destroying the only piece of evidence that would clear his mother. Max is sure she won't be convicted because she didn't kill Trent. Stephanie says no matter who killed Trent Max would still be destroying evidence. Max says she's right. They'll take it to the police.
Downstairs - Nick is at the bar drinking a beer. Melanie asks what's wrong - it's only morning and he's already drinking. Nick says she should know - it's because of all the stuff that's been going on. Melanie talks about everything that Nick has been through to help her - she has some advice - don't be friends with her. Nick can't do that - he's attracted to her like a moth to a flame. Some flirting happens after that and a kiss.
Park: Lacey meets with Lexie and Theo. Lexie fires her - Lacey begs and pleads - she needs the money. They said it wasn't her fault. She deserves a second chance. Lexie is unmoving. Abe comes along and gives Lacey her final cheque - he tells her they wish her the best. Lacey is very bitter - she doesn't think they do.
Lacey is outside the Brady pub now - she meets with Mayor Merino. She has some information about the Carvers that could be very useful to him.
Hospital: Bo tells Kayla he's there to interview a witness. She asks how Ma's case is going - Bo says there are other suspects. He sees Nicole with EJ - there's one of them. Nicole is chattering away - EJ looks like he's going to his own execution. Nicole complains that everything about their relationship is cut short because of Sami. Bo approaches Nicole - he has some questions about her first husband's murder. Considering what she did to Victor it's not a stretch to think of her as a suspect. Nicole tells Bo to blame her without any evidence is a sure-fire way to tank his career - but wait, it's already tanking. Bo will be watching her. After Bo leaves EJ apologises to Nicole - after what Sami put him through with the twins he has to be sure. Nicole acts very indignant - she is not Sami.
EJ thinks she and Sami are very much alike and that's what worries him. Nicole tries another tactic - when she found out she was pregnant she was afraid of how he would react. Then a sense of peace came over her - this baby was a chance for her to start over. Kayla approaches them - she tells Nicole that they're ready for her ultrasound. Nicole informs her that they need a paternity test as well. EJ gets a call on his cell - Kayla asks Nicole if Stefano knows about this baby. EJ comes into the exam room just as the ultrasound is being taken. Kayla talks and gives Nicole a picture of the baby. EJ reminds her that they need a paternity test done. Kayla will have a nurse come and draw blood - she explains that it's a non-invasive procedure. They'll use the fetal DNA from Nicole's blood to determine paternity. Kayla returns with the results and hands the folder to Nicole. Nicole says to EJ congratulations Daddy. I can do this on my own or we can do this together - it's up to him.
Police station: Max and Stephanie step into the office and hand over Trent's wallet to Bo. He wants to know how they got it. Stephanie tells him they found it in her purse - they think Melanie put it there. She tells him about getting into it with Melanie while they were questioning Max. She left her purse on the desk that Melanie was at. Bo takes the wallet to the lab. He comes back with the report. They may just have handed over the evidence to clear Ma - but they implicated themselves. Theirs were the only fingerprints on the wallet.
Chez Rouge: Evan Sayers introduces Abe as the next mayor of Salem after saying some glowing words about him. Theo tugs on Lexie's hand and points to Lacey. Abe says a few words and then Lacey starts her tirade. There are things they should know about the Carver family - how can Abe be mayor when he lets his wife control everything. She tells everyone that the Carver's son Theo was recently diagnosed with autism - the Carvers have no time for him - his primary care was left to her. She goes on to say that Lexie fired her today because she got tired of the way Abe looked at her. She hated the way he looked at her and the sly smiles but she stayed because she loved Theo so much. She goes on to say that Theo is never disciplined. She brings up the incident in the park - Theo ran away and the Carvers took it out on her and fired her. If Abe can't control one little boy how is he going to be able to take care of the needs of the citizens of Salem. Mayor Meroni sits in his office and claps. After Lacey is gone Abe tells Evan that he is going to fight Meroni. Lexie comes up - she's sorry she can't do this. She takes Theo and leaves.
Cabin: Sami pounces on Lucas as soon as he comes into the main room of the cabin - Lucas needs coffee first before he deals with her problems. Sami tells him this can't wait - this is the mother of all problems. The scumbucket EJ got two women pregnant. Lucas laughs - he is very amused. Sami rants about EJ letting 'one slip past the goalie with THAT woman'. Lucas thinks this may be a good thing for Sami - Stefano will focus on Nicole's baby. He wants to know how EJ reacted to finding out he had fathered two children. He realises by the look on Sami's face and her silence that she hasn't told him. Sami isn't going to tell him. Lucas thinks by not telling him she's living a lie and dragging all her children into it. What did her parents tell her. She didn't tell them because she knew they'd tell her she had to tell EJ. She then tells him how she told her mother that EJ got Nicole pregnant and her mother's response was 'at least it's not you.' How could she tell her.
Lucas says you're not telling your parents, you're not going to tell EJ - you'll lose him to Nicole. Sami is willing to sacrifice her feelings if it means she doesn't have to raise another DiMera child. Sami wants him to promise not to tell anyone about her pregnancy. Lucas goes and changes for work - he tells her he's not happy but he'll promise not to say anything. He warns her to make some decision as to what she's going to do because he won't keep silent for long. He leaves. Sami says to herself - there has to be another way. She thinks - maybe there is.
Preview: Stefano to Merino - I do not get nervous Mayor. Mayor Merino - I think you'll be nervous as hell if Abe Carver gets elected. Kate to Daniel - So what do they say? Is it good news or bad news? Nicole to EJ - Wait a minute. Are you saying you want to marry me?

Tuesday Oct 21
Hospital – Part 1: EJ complains that the doctor is taking so long. Nicole thinks he’d rather be at the police station with Sami. EJ is concerned about Sami – she just witnessed a murder. Nicole thinks he should be more concerned about her – after all she took a fall by tripping over the corpse. Lexie comes in – she heard that they were they. Nicole tells her that she tripped over the mayor – he was murdered outside the mansion and she fell over his body. He was shot on the front doorstep. Lexie asks how it happened. EJ says they don’t know – Sami saw the murderer as he was leaving. It was just some unknown assailant. Lexie recalls her conversation with Stefano. Nicole adds that Sami got a good look at the guy. EJ adds that unfortunately the guy also got a pretty good look at Sami. Lexie has to leave. Nicole yells ‘what about me.’
Java Café – Part 1: Chelsea is there ordering a latte. Max and Melanie are sitting at a table. Melanie is sorry for putting Max in such a difficult position with Stephanie and for telling him about what happened in the cemetery. Max knows she didn’t do it. Melanie thanks him for believing in her and trusting her enough to keep her secret. She knows if he had told Stephanie she would have gone straight to the police. Max tells Melanie that he told Stephanie. He had to. Melanie freaks out that Stephanie knows. Max says he also told Stephanie that she (Melanie) didn’t do it. Melanie says it doesn’t matter what he knows – he told someone that hates her and wants her out of his life. Max insists that Stephanie wouldn’t do that. Melanie says she’s probably talking to your brother and his wife right now. Melanie is upset that he didn’t keep his word. Max said he wouldn’t tell anyone – that doesn’t include Stephanie. They made a pact – no more secrets. It won’t go any further. Melanie repeats that Stephanie hates her. Max insists that Stephanie wouldn’t break his trust.
Nick comes in. Chelsea has a favour to ask him. She asks him to dinner as friends – she could really use one. Stephanie is really busy and Morgan moved away. Nick agrees. Chelsea picks a sushi restaurant near the hospital. Nick sees Melanie leaving – she’s obviously upset.
Brady Pub – Part 1: Bo wants to know what Stephanie meant when she said Melanie did something to Max. Stephanie replies that she’s got him involved right along with her. Stephanie feels she shouldn’t be talking to them – Max would be so mad. Hope wants her to tell them what is going on. Stephanie thinks Melanie killed her dad. Bo says that’s quite an accusation to make. Hope asks her if this is because she suspects Melanie of planting the wallet in her purse. Stephanie doesn’t suspect – she knows Melanie put it there. Hope asks if she has proof. Not exactly. Bo mentions thealtercation between the two girls. Stephanie said that was only because Melanie was lying. After that when Melanie and Max were alone, she pretty much admitted everything. Then Max told her. He’d be furious if he knew she was talking to them but she didn’t know what else to do. Hope doesn’t understand why Max would keep it a secret. Stephanie says because he would do anything for his sister including ruining his life by being an accessory to murder.
Hope tells Stephanie to tell them exactly what Max told her. Stephanie says Melanie met her father at the cemetery that night and confronted him with the knife. She hated him and just wanted him to stay away from her. They got into a fight and then there was a struggle over the knife. At some point she fell and hit her head and when she came to he was dead. Bo says so she didn’t exactly admit to killing her father. Stephanie says that Melanie told Max that she thinks she did. Stephanie goes on to say that Melanie is a very troubled person, she’s totally screwed up. Part is because she had a horrible life but part is because she’s devious and mean. Bo reminds her they are talking about murder. Stephanie knows – that girl has no conscious, no morals. Stephanie feels that Melanie killed her father and it’s up to the two of them to stop her before she hurts someone else. Stephanie says that is all she knows. She feels terrible for breaking Max’s confidence but she had to. If Melanie is found guilty and Max didn’t come forward … Hope tells her she did the right thing. Bo says they will have a little chat with Melanie.
DiMera mansion – Part 1: Lexie confronts Stefano – what the hell did he do. She heard about Merino’s murder. She saw the chalk lines outside the door. Stefano says it was an unfortunate incident. Lexie thinks it’s quite a coincidence – she came to him this morning and told him how Merino had attacked them and their little boy by saying horrible, destructive things. She asked him to stop contributing to Merino’s campaign – she told him if he cared for her at all … Stefano does care very deeply. He was infuriated so he did what she asked – he pulled his support. Lexie says that’s not all. You killed him, didn’t you? Stefano tells her she short-changed him just like his other children. Lexie wants an answer. Stefano points out that she didn’t ask a question – she made a declaration. Lexie is going to report him to the police – he murdered a man. Stefano says he had nothing to do with Anthony Merino’s death. Lexie asks him to explain the timing – she asked him for a favour … Stefano interrupts – and I granted it which he regrets right now because of her insolence and total lack of gratitude. He shouldn’t be surprised – that’s how she is. She always feels she is entitled. He yells sometimes you’re not entitled Alexandra. Lexie is shocked that he’s lecturing her when he’s lived a life of crime and cruelty – when he so cavalierly takes a life. Whatever Merino did he had a family – he didn’t deserve to die. Stefano agrees and he repeats he had nothing to do with his murder.
He only talked to the man and told him he was withdrawing his financial backing from his campaign. It wasn’t pleasant but he did it for her. Stefano really goes off on Lexie for coming in and making accusations when she doesn’t know a damn thing. He tells her to use her brain. Has it ever occurred to her that he’s being set up. If he wanted to kill the man why would he do it on his front step. Does she think he’s that stupid? He’s always the obvious target. He reminds her that the mayor had many enemies including her husband. Lexie scoffs – surely you’re not suggesting Abe … Stefano says of course not – all he is saying that motive alone does not guarantee guilt. He asks her – what reason would he have to kill a lowly, ineffectual mayor – does she think he has nothing better to do than plot the murder of a loser like Merino. Lexie says he’s right. Stefano tells her not to worry – she is not responsible for what happened. She is his child – all is forgiven. She’s like him full of passion – that is why he loves her so much. He tells her to be happy – live in the moment and be grateful for all her blessings. He’s been thinking about his own life. When you get closer to the end you become more appreciative, more aware of the beauty, less willing to squander time on pettiness. They hug. He asks her to join him for dinner. She has to go and pick up Theo.
Hospital – Part 2: Dr Dan arrives to see Nicole. She tells him about her accident and stresses that her and EJ are really concerned about the baby. Dr. Dan asks her if she has any kind of pain or cramps. No just a bad headache probably from the stress. Dan asked EJ to step out. Nicole orders EJ to stay close in case she needs him. After EJ leaves Dr. Dan starts asks her if she has had any pain, any bumps, any bruises, any lacerations, any cramps – Nicole says no. She has little twinges every now. Dr. Dan thinks it is baby flutters. Nicole reminds him that she was told she couldn’t conceive so this baby is a miracle. She can’t help thinking something is wrong. Dr. Dan tells her to never assume something like that. Nicole grabs his arm – she knows what he’s thinking and yes she is using the fall as an excuse to have EJ worry about her, to get closer to him but she’s not lying about the twinges. Maybe they are just baby flutters but if there is something wrong he has to help her. She can’t lose this baby – he has to fix it.
Daniel comes back with her test results – both her and the baby are in excellent health. Nicole apologises for being so panicky and paranoid but this baby is very important to her. It will probably be the only chance she gets to be a mom. Daniels wants her to take it easy and keep the stress level down. Nicole doesn’t know if that is possible with EJ’s ex always popping up. Dan thinks that EJ seems to be committed to Nicole. Nicole doesn’t want Dan to say anything to EJ about what she said about how important the baby is to her – he’s a private person. Dan goes to talk to EJ. Nicole and the baby are fine. Nicole needs to relax. A lot of people think stress and worry will hurt the baby but for the most part that is not true. If a woman has a miscarriage it’s normally because there was something wrong with the fetus. Women tend to worry about that too much and doctors don’t stress enough that babies in utero are pretty resilient. A simple fall is not likely to jeopardise the pregnancy. EJ thanks him.
Java Café – Part 2: Chelsea joins Max – is he alright – he looks stressed. Max is stressed – this thing with his mom … Trent. Chelsea asks if the police are any closer to finding out who killed his father. Max says they have a couple of suspects – a lot of people wanted him dead. Chelsea – one of them being Melanie. Max quickly says she didn’t do it – no matter what kind of jerk Trent was Melanie wouldn’t do that. Chelsea says they also know that Grandma Caroline didn’t do it and she’s not going to be off the hook until they find out who did. Max says they will – he then asks if she’s seen Stephanie – he hasn’t been able to reach her. Chelsea hasn’t. Stephanie walks in. Max asks her where she’s been. Stephanie tells him she was at the pub talking to Bo and Hope. Chelsea leaves. Max wants to know what Stephanie told Bo and Hope. She told them everything. They know Melanie murdered her father.
Max can’t believe she went to the police. Stephanie says she had no choice. She couldn’t stand by and watch him destroy his life over someone he barely knows. Max says she is my sister. He’s not living in denial. He knows what she is and isn’t capable of doing. Stephanie had a choice and she felt it was more important to sandbag Melanie. She betrayed him – she made a promise and she broke it. How could she do that? Whatever happened to trusting each other? Stephanie says that is why she needs him to trust that she did the right thing – she was just trying to protect him. She loves him too much to let Melanie hurt him and make him an accessory to murder. Max says she can tell herself that she broke her promise because she was trying to protect but they both know what’s going on here. She’s hated Melanie since the first day she met her. Stephanie says of course because I never trusted her. Max says now he can’t trust her and without that they don’t have anything. Max says he loves her and probably always will but he can’t forgive her. She betrayed him. She made a promise and she broke it behind his back and he can never forgive her for that. Stephanie cries – she loves him – they can get through this like they always have. He says there is no more ‘we’ – he loves her more than she’ll ever know. He walks out.
Brady Pub – Part 2: Melanie walks in and is greeted by Bo and Hope. They want to talk. It’s about the night her father was murdered. Hope says they want her to tell them everything … Bo adds up to and including her encounter with him at the cemetery. Melanie already told them everything she knows. Bo tells her Stephanie told them about her confession to Max. Hope says they know she fought with her father in the cemetery. They struggled over a knife that ended up being the murder weapon. Bo adds that Melanie didn’t mention that when they questioned her. She can either explain herself here or at the station – her choice. Melanie has nothing more to stay. Bo says they’ll continue this at the station. Melanie isn’t going anywhere. Hope tells her to start talking. Bo says they want the truth. Melanie says this is harassment – nothing happened. Bo asks her if she didn’t hear him. They know about her confession to Max. Melanie accuses Stephanie of making that up – she’s lying. She hates my guts and always has. Stephanie’s jealous of the relationship that she has with Max – she’s trying to frame her. Bo accuses Melanie of lying. Melanie insists she never saw her father the night he was murdered. They never got in an argument. She never saw or touched the knife that went into his back. If they don’t believe her they can go and talk to Max. He’ll back up her story and tell them she never told him any of that. They have no proof – they only have Stephanie’s word against hers. Until there’s evidence to the contrary she would appreciate them letting her mourn her father’s death in peace. She leaves.
Nick meets Melanie outside the pub – he’s glad she called him. He saw her at the Java Café and she looked upset. He was worried. Melanie asks if they can get out of here – maybe go for dinner. Nick says yeah. Melanie is going to her room to change. Nick will call Chez Rouge and get a table. Melanie leaves – Chelsea arrives. She tells Nick she’s heading home to get ready for their evening. Nick has to cancel – something came up. Chelsea asks if that something is Melanie. Nick says they’ll get together and talk another time. He goes inside the pub. Chelsea opens the door to the pub and hears Nick talking to Maggie – he’s having dinner with Melanie tonight. Bo and Hope are outside the pub – Hope asks Bo if he thinks Melanie killed her father. Bo thinks she is lying about something – it’s up to them to figure out what. Melanie comes down the stairs inside the pub – she has a flashback to coming to in the cemetery. Her father is staggering – he turns and she sees the knife sticking out of his back. She gets up and sees his wallet on the ground – she grabs the wallet and takes off. She then goes to Nick and asks if he’s ready.
DiMera mansion – Part 2: EJ helps Nicole on to the couch and takes her shoes off and plumps her pillow. Nicole glows – he’s taking such wonderful care of her. EJ says speaking of that – the next time she’s feeling a little bit neglected just say something. He knows she took a spill but it wasn’t quite as serious as she made it out to be. She only played up her symptoms to get him away from Samantha. Nicole goes on the attack to make herself look and sound noble. EJ knows she was concerned about the baby – so was he but can she honestly say that she didn’t over-dramatize just a little bit. Nicole says if she did it was because she wanted him to stop worrying about Sami and focus on her. EJ says she doesn’t have to use their child to get his attention – she has it. He was worried about Sami. She’s the only person alive that can identify that person and that person tried to kill her. But that’s as far as his concern goes. Yes Sami is the mother of his child but so is she and unlike with Samantha he really believes the two of them can have a future. She’s carrying his baby – that means the world to him – she means the world to him. They kiss.
Stefano is on the phone – It’s about time you answered the phone. You fool – what the hell have you done? Downstairs Nicole is thrilled. EJ wants the same thing she does – a house, a couple of kids, a family – he wants that with her. Another kiss. Nicole is very happy – so happy she wants ice cream. EJ goes to get her some. Nicole doubles over in pain.
Preview: John to Stefano – Listen to me brother. I know about the hit put on Anthony Merino and I know that you’re behind it. Tony to Lexie – You needed to speak to me urgently so what the hell is going on. Lexie – It’s not just that Merino was killed, it’s my part in it. The killer speaking on the phone as he’s cleaning his gun – I give my word, I keep it. By the end of the night (camera cuts to Sami) Samantha Brady will be dead.

Kiriakis mansion: Daniel is outside by the pool – he is surprised to see Philip there. Philip makes several sarcastic comments. Daniel asks Philip if there is something he wants to get off his chest. Philip says yes and then slugs him. He then orders Daniel to leave. Philip rants – he knows everything that goes on here – he knows what went on between him and his mother. Daniel isn’t going to discuss his personal life with Philip. Philip says he’s two-faced and a fraud. Daniel asks Philip if he ever thinks about his mother instead of himself – about what makes her happy. He calls Philip a vindictive little bastard. He’s not going to take anymore of his bull. Philip says Daniel is no good for his mother – stay away from her. Daniel is not going to take orders from him. Philip is trying to protect his mother. Daniel asks – from someone that cares for. Philip wants to know if Daniel is with her because he feels sorry for her. Daniel will explain how he feels about his mother for her sake – she’s a wonderful woman. She’s compassionate, generous, smart. He’s never known anyone like her. She makes him feel good about himself. The two of them need each other right now. Philip concedes – he’s out of it for his mother’s sake.
Horton Cabin – Part 1: Lucas is giving Chloe a massage – she has a big knot in one shoulder. Chloe rants about Sami. Lucas doesn’t want to talk about it but Chloe keeps going on and on until Lucas says enough. There are a million things he’d rather be doing – they start kissing. They’re basking in the afterglow complimenting one another. They both agree that they’re lucky that they found each other.
Police station – Part 1: Sami is with the sketch artist when Marlena comes rushing in – she hugs Sami. Sami tells Marlena what happened – she’s freaked out. Sami says it feels like a weird nightmare – one she can’t wait up from. Marlena asks her to tell her what happened when she saw the killer. Sami does; she screamed and then he pointed a gun at her – she felt frozen and then she finally did something – she hit him with her purse and ran into the house. EJ and Nicole were there and Nicole accused her of making it up to get EJ’s sympathy. Marlena says you were terrified. Sami thinks she was the lucky one – the mayor was shot dead. She gets the guy had enemies but how could someone just shoot him like that. The camera cuts to the hit man cleaning his gun – he’s on the phone; ‘Didn’t I tell you to stop worrying. I give my word, I keep it. By the end of the night Samantha Brady will be dead.’
After the sketch artist is finished Marlena asks if she is free to leave. Sami was told her father wanted her to stay – she thinks he’s probably setting up a cot for her. Marlena asks her to pack up the twins and come and stay with her for awhile. She has a lot of room and she’d love to have them there with her. Sami appreciates the offer but she can’t – she’s staying with Lucas at the cabin. It’s working out great – Allie is happy to have both her parents there. Marlena isn’t so sure Chloe would approve. Sami says she hasn’t talked to Chloe about it – she will eventually. It’s just a sensitive subject – a lot of potential drama there. She assures her mom that she isn’t going to turn the cabin into a war zone. Marlena would like an answer as to why she’s spending time with her ex-husband and she would like her to tell her the truth.
Brady Pub – Part 1: Tony meets up with a very distracted Lexie outside the pub. He wants to know what the hell is going on – she said she needed to speak to him – it was urgent. Lexie says it’s not just that Merino was killed it’s her part in it. She may have been the one that got him killed. Tony asks her what she means. Lexie gave father an ultimatum. She told father that if he didn’t cut off his financial and political support of Merino he would never see Theo again. Tony says it was a perfectly reasonable ultimatum. Lexie says it resulted in murder – how is that reasonable. Tony states that father can be cruel and ruthless but she can’t automatically assume he’s behind this murder unless he admitted it. Lexie says he was outraged that she accused him. Tony says another thing if father was responsible why would he have the man murdered in front of the mansion. The man is ruthless, he’s not stupid. He can see Lexie is still not convinced. She tells Tony it’s just the coincidence of it. She tells father that Merino is going after her and her family and the very same day he ends up dead. It’s not a matter of where Merino was killed or the timing of it; it’s just a gut feeling she has – she can’t shake the feeling that father committed the crime. He had Merino killed for her.
DiMera mansion – Part 1: John sees Nicole is in pain – he jumps to the conclusion she’s having her baby. Nicole insists she is fine – it’s just a little pain in her side. She’s already been to the hospital today – she and the baby are fine. John thinks she should go back – she’s in pain. Nicole snaps at him – no. She doesn’t know why he’s pushing – he of all people should be sensitive to her hatred of hospitals. John knows why he doesn’t like going there what’s her excuse. Nicole can’t complain to EJ again – he’ll think she’s being manipulative. He called her out for going a little overboard – she admits that she was. John says if there is a problem she needs to be checked out. Nicole insists she is fine. She wants his word that he wouldn’t tell anyone about this little incident – John gives her his word.
In the entranceway Stefano is on the phone – How could you let something like this happen on my doorstep? He listens then raises his voice – Excuses are for cowards and children. I don’t pay you to blather and whine – I pay you to produce. You listen to me you stammering twit – EJ walks up behind Stefano – Father, I think it’s time we had a little chat. Stefano tells the person on the phone he’ll call back. EJ wants to know who he was talking to. Stefano wants to know why he’s so hostile. EJ says there was a dead body on my doorstep and my child could have been at home. Stefano tells EJ his anger is misdirected because he’s on his side. Stefano sees the ice cream. EJ says it’s for Nicole – they just came back from the hospital. She’s fine but she doesn’t need any more stress in her life and he’s counting on Stefano for that. Stefano assures him nothing will jeopardise the health and well-being of his future heir. EJ goes into the living room. Stefano is about to leave when John stops him. John knows about the hit put on Anthony Merino and he knows that Stefano is behind it. Stefano says that is absolutely preposterous. John goes on to say that Samantha saw the shooters face – he’s putting Stefano on notice. If anything happens to Blondie’s daughter he’s coming after him. Stefano laughs – his threats are comical. John says you don’t want to laugh at me. Obviously he didn’t get it through Stefano’s thick skull so he’ll run it past him one more time. ‘Make no mistake. Anything happens to Samantha, you’re dead.’
Totally whipped EJ spoon feeds Nicole. Nicole likes when he fusses over her. She is so happy because he said he wanted a future with her. Nicole starts talking about boys names – and then when she is going to start on a girls name she bends over in pain. She covers and tells EJ it’s just a leg cramp. She needs to walk it off – she’s going to take Pookie for walk – she asks him to come along. EJ has to go to the office – he tells her to call him if she needs anything.
Brady Pub – Part 2: Tony comments that Abe’s informal luncheon has been taken over by the media – maybe she should go inside. Lexie can’t – what if they start questioning her about the murder. Tony says she’s under no obligation to say anything. Abe comes out. He needs a five minute break. He had planned a small support rally to meet with his advisors and before they knew it a press conference broke out. He would prefer to have his wife beside him. Lexie says – they won’t ask me questions about the mayor’s murder, will they. Abe answers – why would they do that. He tells Tony to come inside as well. Stefano watches as the three of them go inside the pub.
Inside Abe makes a statement – he wants to assure the people of Salem that their concerns will be heard. The media just want to ask questions about Merino’s murder. A female reporter asks Lexie if it’s true that her father, a notorious crime lord, funded much of the mayor’s campaign. Is it also true that Mr. DiMera made significant contributions to your husband’s campaign as well. Abe steps up – he can’t speak to the late mayor’s financial practices but he can speak to his. He has never taken a dime from Stefano DiMera and he never will. Tony and Lexie are talking – Lexie thinks the suspicion is still there – she can feel it. Tony repeats that she had done nothing wrong. Abe comes over – what are they talking about. A guy comes over and tells Abe they need to speak to him. Tony tells Lexie to stop fretting. The mayor is gone – it’s not her fault – end of story. Lexie answers – what if it’s not end of story. What if the mayor isn’t the only person the killer has plans to take out?
Police station – Part 2: Marlena has sensed something different about Sami the past few days – she’s not herself. Before Sami can say anything John barges in. He heard about the mayor’s murder – he came to check on her. Sami says she’s fine. He asks what the two of them were arguing about. Marlena says they weren’t arguing. She had just asked Sami to come and stay with her and Sami was busy saying no. John tells Sami she can stay with him if she likes. He’s rented a gigantic suite at the Salem Inn so she and the twins can stay with him temporarily if she likes. Sami appreciates the offer but she’s actually staying with Lucas. She should go and call him – she heads out of Roman’s office. Marlena tells John that Sami is in some kind of trouble – she just knows it. In the outer office Sami calls Lucas – and mutters where the hell are you – pick up the phone.
John tells Marlena to think positively. Marlena sarcastically answers – that’s splendid advice, however whenever a child of yours is in trouble it’s hard to think positively. John says don’t be mad at me. Marlena snaps – I’m not – she’s frustrated. Her daughter is being secretive – she’s been doing a lot of that lately. She thanks John for offering Sami a place to stay – that was very generous of him. John just wants Sami to know that he’s there for her. He asks Marlena – what have you been up to lately - not filing divorce papers that he knows of. Marlena hasn’t filed them yet. John wants to know why – she was so anxious to make a fresh start – what’s the hold-up? Marlena doesn’t know.
Horton Cabin – Part 2: Lucas’s cell phone keeps vibrating as he and Chloe keep kissing. More compliments, kisses and cuddles – they hear Lucas’s phone. Chloe tells him to ignore it. He can’t – he answers. Sami jumps on him for not answering. She needs him to come and get her. Lucas says he’s busy. Sami doesn’t care if he’s having brain surgery – she needs him. She tells him she’s at the police station. She came face to face with a hit man today – she’ll explain it when she gets there. Lucas tells Chloe he has to go and get Sami. Chloe jumps on him – he doesn’t have to do that. Lucas says, yeah, I do.
Lucas and Sami return. Chloe says whoa – you are really starting to show. You look a little chubby but that pregnancy glow more than makes up for it. Sami can’t believe that Lucas told Chloe that she was pregnant. Chloe tells her to relax – it’s not like she’s going to blab it to anyone. As long as Lucas isn’t involved Sami can have triplets for all she cares. Lucas asks Sami if she told EJ. Sami tells him he lost the right to ask her anything when he gave away her secret to his girlfriend. Lucas comments – she didn’t tell him. Chloe says of course not – Sami is never upfront about anything. Chloe leaves to go see a friend. Sami and Lucas bicker about Chloe and the secret. Sami has more important things to worry about – she lived through a horrible day. It was terrorizing – she saw a dead body and then she came face to face with the man who had killed him. In the bushes outside the cabin the hit man arrives with his rifle.
Lucas says so when they find this guy all she has to do is pick him out of a line-up. She says pretty much. He’s glad she’s okay. When is she going to tell EJ. Sami wants to focus on one trauma at a time. Lucas warns her that if she waits to long to tell him the truth … EJ knocks on the door and walks in. He came to see how she was doing. Sami thought he’d be busy scheduling Lamaze class … picking out … EJ interrupts – Don’t. Sami wants him to go. EJ thought it might be helpful for her to talk about what happened today. Sami says it’s not – what would be helpful would be for him to leave. EJ isn’t going until he’s convinced that she’s alright. The killer aims the gun and sights on Sami.
DiMera mansion – Part 2: Chloe walks in – Nicole is happy to see her. Chloe asks if she and EJ are okay. Nicole says he’s being unbelievably sweet but she can’t help worrying that her hold on him might be tenuous at best. She brings up Sami – Chloe is sick of hearing that name. So is Nicole but she doesn’t think Sami is going anywhere. She’s sure Sami has her hooks in EJ. Chloe mutters – you don’t know the half of it. She then tells Nicole that there is something she needs to know about Sami.
Preview: Melanie to Philip – I am willing to buy your silence. Philip – I don’t need your money. Melanie makes her move – I’m not talking about money. Max to Bo – She did not commit that murder. Bo – And you know this for a fact. Hope to Stephanie – Max refuses … Stephanie – And I’ve lost Max for nothing.
The killer aims – EJ sees the red dot on the back of Sami’s head and yells ‘Get down’. He tackles her just as the window shatters.

Thursday Oct 23
Horton Cabin – Part 1: The killer can’t get a clear shot at Sami as everyone keeps moving around in the cabin. EJ wants to know why Sami is so anxious to get rid of him. He mentions that she came face to face with a killer today. Sami agrees that it was traumatic but she wants to move on. EJ thinks it’s a little too soon to be moving on. Sami doesn’t care what he thinks. She doesn’t want his opinion. She just wants to forget this day ever happened. The killer is getting impatient. Lucas gets a call from Chloe – she wants to tell Nicole about Sami’s pregnancy. Lucas says no – it’s Sami’s secret to tell. Chloe tells Lucas if he was involved she would honour his request out of loyalty to him but she will not be loyal to Sami. After she hangs up Lucas tells EJ and Sami he has to leave. After he leaves Sami suggests that EJ leave as well. EJ tells her that she’s not going to get rid of him so easily. Sami wants to know what he wants from her. For starters he wants to know what she is doing at the cabin. The killer is still trying to get a bead on Sami. Sami wants EJ to leave – go back to Nicole and pick up where they left off. EJ yells at her to stop – what is going on with her. Sami is tired – she repeats that she wants him to leave. EJ stops her – they’ve been through a lot. He knows her – please tell him what is going on. Sami says she wants to go to bed and pull the covers over her head and pretend none of this happened. Just go away. She moves away from him. EJ sees the red dot of the scope trained on the back of Sami’s head – he dives and knocks her down yelling ‘get down.’ Sami struggles against EJ yelling at him to get off of her. EJ yells – Samantha someone is shooting at you. Sami notices the shattered window. OMG. EJ tells her to stay there but she grabs him and tells him he can’t go anywhere. EJ reaches for his cell phone.
DiMera mansion – Part 1: Nicole stops Chloe – she’s had enough stress today – she doesn’t want to hear about another Sami scheme. Chloe says it’s not a scheme but Nicole doesn’t want to hear it. Nicole wants to talk about something fun and uplifting – she starts spewing out baby names. She runs to get a book of baby names they can look at. Nicole keeps rambling on but finally clues in that Chloe isn’t really into this. Chloe is; it’s just that Nicole has a lot of time before she needs to pick out a name. Nicole agrees – but she may find out the sex of the baby at the next ultrasound. Nicole goes on to tell her all the things EJ told her about having a future with him. Chloe asks if she believes he meant it. Nicole admits to being insecure. She can’t stop thinking he’s still on the fence. Maybe he’s just trying to talk himself into it – after all they’re having a baby together. Chloe hopes that is not the case. She hopes that Nicole and EJ can have a life together. Nicole says that means a lot to her. She natters on about not having many friends. Chloe forgave her for all the things she did to her – she’ll always be loyal to her. Chloe feels the same. Nicole tells Chloe’s loyalty means a lot to her – she feels like she can trust her; that she’ll always be straight with her – that she’ll never keep anything from her. Chloe can’t do this – she excuses herself to make a phone call.
Nicole and Chloe make a toast with sparkling cider about being friends forever. Nicole asks her about the phone call. Chloe says she didn’t call in front of Nicole because she was being polite. She just called Lucas to tell him she’d be later than she thought. She goes on to say how proud she is that Nicole is taking good care of herself. Nicole says it’s been strangely easy staying off the booze but sometimes when the stress gets to her … Chloe says by stress you mean Sami. Nicole says there is a spectre of Sami Brady hanging over anything. She knows EJ is drawn to her and that Sami isn’t going anywhere. Chloe has something to tell her – Lucas bursts in – no Chloe. Nicole rants about him barging in. Nicole wants to know what Chloe was going to tell her. Lucas knows what it is – it’s about Sami and EJ. He’ll tell her himself.
Java Café: Stephanie gets up and collides with Philip. She apologises – she wasn’t paying attention. Philip notices the tears and asks her if something is wrong. Stephanie tells him that she and Max broke up. Philip asks her if she doesn’t think they can work things out. Stephanie says not after what she did. She tells Philip that Max told her that Melanie had made this confession to him – we hear about the confession again. Max didn’t want her to tell anyone because he believes Melanie is innocent but she had to. Melanie planted her dad’s wallet in her purse – she’s trying to set her up but did Max feel sorry for her about that – no, it’s always about Melanie. Philip asks where the wallet is now. Stephanie says that Max wanted to destroy it but she convinced him it might be the only thing to exonerate his mother – they took it to the police station. Stephanie asks Philip if he knows anything about this. Philip – says no, it’s just a lot to take in. He goes on to say that Stephanie did the right thing. Stephanie says all that got her was being alone and miserable. Philip is no expert on relationships but he feels if it was meant to be they’ll figure it out. Philip has to leave for a meeting.
Police station: Bo & Hope are in Roman’s office talking about the case – Bo thought they would have nailed it by now. Hope says it’s not helping that the DA is pressing for a trial date. Max enters – they wanted to see him. Hope says they have some questions about his father’s murder. Max looks at the suspect board and wants to know why his sister’s name is circled – she didn’t kill her father. Bo disagrees – they have reason to believe she did. There’s a good reason she’s at the top of their suspect list. Max knows the reason – it’s Stephanie. Bo says yes Stephanie told them that Melanie had talked to him and told that she might have killed her father. They know she was at the cemetery that night; argued with her father and blacked out. Hope adds – so they know her memory of that night is sketchy. Bo says she does remember that when she woke up that she saw the knife in Trent Robbins back. They need Max to corroborate Stephanie’s story. Did Melanie admit to the murder of her father?
Max tells them that he and Stephanie broke up tonight – Stephanie is convinced Melanie killed Trent. Bo says they feel bad for him but it’s not going to stop them from doing their job. Hope tells Max they just need him to back up Stephanie’s story. Max says Melanie never told him anything – Stephanie is just walking into the room when he says this. Stephanie doesn’t believe this. It’s one thing for them to disagree on what kind of person Melanie is; it’s another for him to call her a liar. Max denies that he did – the fact remains that Melanie didn’t say anything to her. Bo says that’s why you’re here – we need to hear it from you directly. Max shrugs – aren’t they supposed to stick to cold, hard facts. Stephanie asks Max how he could do this to her. Hope takes Melanie to the outer office. Bo asks Max what the hell he’s doing. Max – defending my sister. If Bo is through he’s going to leave. Bo isn’t – he needs to explain something to Max. He’s not being noble or loyal or admirable. He’s turned his back on the truth – he’s ruining his life. Is that what he wants.
In the outer offices Stephanie tells Hope that Max has changed. Ever since Melanie came into his life it’s all about her, she (Stephanie) is just an afterthought. Hope feels that Max is trying to make up for all the years he couldn’t be there for Melanie. She thinks Max is struggling with his own identity right now. He wants to be a good brother to Melanie but he also wants to do right by his mother. Hope says she doesn’t think she (Stephanie) would lie about something like this but right now all they have is her word that Melanie confessed. If Max backs her up they may have something to take to the DA but if he refuses … Stephanie says than I told the truth and lost Max for nothing. In Roman’s office Max goes on the attack – how can Bo give him crap about this when he did the same thing for Philip. He made a judgement call even when his brother was damn guilty. He’s doing the same thing with his sister. Bo says and losing your girlfriend in the process. Max proclaims that Stephanie made a choice – she chose to betray him – why would he put up with that. Bo says Stephanie isn’t trying to ruin anyone’s life. She’s an honest person trying to do the right thing. She believes that your sister committed a murder. Max declares that she is wrong. Bo – and you know this for a fact. Max has a gut feeling – she did not commit that murder. She is innocent and he would swear that on his life. He knows she isn’t a saint but she’s not a killer. Bo points out that he barely knows Melanie. Max knows her well enough – she loved her father. Max said he used to think of himself as victim – tossed aside and given away. But he was the lucky one – he ended up with a great family. He’s all Melanie has – he’s not going to let her go down for a murder she didn’t commit. Bo tells him he’s taking one hell of a risk. Max doesn’t think so – he leaves. He sees Hope and asks where Stephanie is. Hope – she left. She thinks Max should go after her before it’s too late.
Brady Pub: Nick and Melanie return to the pub for dessert but Melanie doesn’t want any. Melanie asks him what they do for fun. Nick mentions going to a movie or jazz clubs – Melanie says maybe they can go together some time. She looks towards the bar and sees her father. Nick notices Melanie is pale – what’s wrong. She’s not feeling good – she’s going up to her room. Upstairs in her room – Trent says I’m back. Melanie says no – go away. Trent says guilt is pretty powerful stuff – that’s why she conjured him up – it’s her punishment. Melanie yells that he screwed up her life, she’s not going to let him haunt her in death. Trent says he’s there because of her. She jumps under the covers. Trent says what did you expect. Did you think you could kill a man and just go your merry way. Killing someone stays with you – you have to pay the price. You have to suffer your fair share. Melanie doesn’t remember killing him. Trent says she was always a bad seed now she’s proven that in spades. She committed the most heinous of crimes – patricide. She screams I didn’t do it – she runs to the door screaming for him to get out. She opens the door and runs into Philip.
Philip asks her why she’s so upset. She wants to know why he’s there. Philip knows – Stephanie told him what she did to him. He also knows what she did to her father. Melanie rants at him for spouting accusations – she tells him to get out. Philip thinks she is the one that should leave. Melanie says Caroline invited her to stay. Philip isn’t so sure Caroline would want her there if she knew that Melanie had murdered her father. Melanie denies that she did. Philip reminds her that he seen her with Trent’s wallet. Melanie says that doesn’t mean she killed. Philip asks her what it does mean. Melanie doesn’t owe him any explanations – he’s not a cop. Philip agrees but it would be easy to talk to a cop. Melanie stops him for leaving – please he has to believe her. Philip says that’s pretty pathetic – she’s going to cry and he’s supposed to believe her. Melanie goes back on the attack. Even if she did kill her father why would he care – he didn’t know the guy. Philip cares about justice. A man is dead and he has knowledge that might lead to the arrest of his killer – why would he keep that to himself. Melanie says because you have it wrong. Melanie switches to the poor me – I’m being harassed tactic. Philip doesn’t like seeing her upset. Philip knows that she’s been through hell – Trent was abusive. It’s obvious that she didn’t get a lot of love growing up. Melanie spews a long sarcastic remark ending with – you’re right and that’s why I killed my father. More ranting follows.
Melanie taunts Philip – did he bring his recorder. In case he didn’t get it – she repeats her confession. Philip apologises for accusing her unfairly. Just because she had her father’s wallet doesn’t mean she killed him. Melanie says he’s the only one that knows about the wallet. Stephanie is just guessing – Philip is the only one that can back her up. Is he going to do that and distract the cops from finding the real killer. Philip is going to tell Bo what he needs to know. Melanie says he doesn’t need to know about her and the wallet. Her dad gave her the wallet but the cops won’t believe her so she has to make him believe her. Downstairs Stephanie sees Nick. He tells her that he was just having dessert with Melanie. Stephanie asks where she is. Nick doesn’t know. She was acting weird – she just got up and left. Max comes in – he wants to talk to Stephanie. Nick leaves. Max wants to apologise for what happened at the station. Stephanie says you did what you had to do. Max wants her to let him explain. What he said – the way it came across – he didn’t mean to call her a liar. Stephanie says of course not. You just meant for Bo and Hope to come to that conclusion on their own. She starts walking away. He tells her that he told her what Melanie said in confidence – she’s the one that betrayed him. He’s not going to rehash this. Stephanie says he’s right – it’s a big waste of time. It’s over Max. We’re done. She walks out.
Melanie declares she has too much pride to try and make him believe her. He either does or he doesn’t. Philip says that Bo’s mother has been accused of murder – he has to help him with that. He starts to leave – Melanie stops him. She lied – she doesn’t have too much pride. She is willing to buy his silence. Philip doesn’t need her money. Melanie isn’t talking about money. She unbuttons his jacket and starts to slip it off his shoulder.
Horton Cabin – Part 2: Roman is there now. He is not happy that Sami didn’t listen to him about not coming back to the island. Roman issues orders to a couple of uniformed cops. Marlena rushes in and comforts a crying Sami. Marlena assures her that no one is going to hurt her. Roman wants to question EJ. Sami tells Marlena that the guy killed the mayor and now he’s coming after her. John looks at the window and asks what the trajectory of the bullet was. Sami doesn’t have any idea – she was busy being shot at. Marlena tells John he needs to go. John was just trying to help. He tells Sami that it’s good she wasn’t damaged and leaves. Marlena tells EJ that she is so glad he was there. So is EJ. Sami asks him if her dad thinks he’ll catch the guy that killed the mayor and is now after her. EJ says he thinks it’s likely. Sami says this guy isn’t going to stop until he kills me. EJ tells her they don’t know that. Sami yells it’s obvious he’s after me. He killed the mayor and I saw him. He knows that she is a threat. She looks at EJ – you can’t deny it, can you. This guy is a cold blooded killer and he’s going to keep coming after me until he gets me.
One of the cops tells Roman they found the bullet – Roman tells them to take it to the lab. EJ asks Roman if they found anything. They didn’t. Sami asks – what’s to find. The guy is a hired killer. He killed the mayor and now he’s after me. He knows I can ID him. He knows I’m going to testify at his trial so he’s not going to stop until he kills me. Am I right? Roman will double the police protection – she will have a guard on her 24/7. Marlena wants to know how they can keep Sami safe. Roman says there is only one thing to do. Lucas and Chloe rush in – Lucas asks Sami if she is alright. She is. Lucas asks if they know who tried to kill her. Sami says it’s the same guy who killed the mayor. Roman adds that they don’t know that for a fact. Lucas asks what they’re going to do next. Sami says her dad has come up with a plan to protect her. Chloe says what plan. EJ says that’s what we’re all waiting to hear. Roman tells Sami they are putting her in to a temporary witness protection program.
DiMera mansion – Part 2: Lucas feels that Nicole has a right to know. He says that Sami and EJ share a child together. Nicole knows that. Lucas says what you don’t know is that when you and EJ have your baby it’s not going to be the same as it is with Sami. Nicole wants to know why he rushed there to tell her something so ridiculously obvious. Lucas tries to explain – Sami and EJ have a history – a very passionate past. They loved each other very much. Nicole says so you’re trying to tell me that my baby won’t be as loved as Johnny – is he trying to depress her. Lucas was trying to say – his cell rings. It’s Sami – she’s crying – come back to the cabin. Someone tried to shoot her. Lucas tells the ladies he has to go – someone tried to kill Sami. He rushes out. Nicole and Chloe aren’t happy with the word ‘tried’. Chloe and Nicole rant about Sami – Chloe believes she deliberately gets herself in trouble so the men in her life will come running to her rescue. Nicole wonders where EJ is – he should be home by now. John walks in – he’s with Samantha. He just saved her life. (Chloe leaves). Nicole wants to know what he meant when he said EJ saved Sami’s life. What did he do – jump in front of a speedy bullet. John says something like that. He was a real hero. Nicole complains – what kind of spell does she have on him. John doesn’t know but obviously she’s got some kind of hold on him. He adds that now that Samantha is in danger EJ will want her closer than ever before.
Preview: Max to Stephanie – Maybe it was an accident. Stephanie – But what if it was Melanie and someone else gets hurt because you’re stopping Bo and the police from finding out the truth. Lucas to Sami – You gotta do this for your children. You gotta do what’s right; keep them protected and safe. Philip (buttoning up his shirt) I just don’t know how good I’d feel about sleeping with a killer.

Friday Oct 24
Brady Pub: Downstairs - Bo tries to lighten things up with Max but Max isn’t having any of it. Bo is trying to get him to turn on his sister. Bo just wants the truth. Max thinks he wants only the truth he wants to hear. Bo is just trying to clear Ma of a murder charge. Max proclaims that Ma will be okay because all the Brady’s will stick together and Melanie is going to be alone. He’s all she’s got. Stephanie walks up to the bar and says that’s what she wants you to think. Melanie asks him if he really thinks that he’s the only man that Melanie uses that ‘I’m all alone in this world’ line on. Max says I’m her only brother. Stephanie says yeah and Melanie plays that for all it’s worth. Max thought that when she said they were done that meant an end to her 24/7 thrashing of Melanie but she never runs out of material and she knows nothing about her. Stephanie – you do? Max knows that she doesn’t go around thrashing people. Stephanie says no she murders them and let’s your mother take the blame for it. Max throws up the fact that Stephanie went behind his back to Bo and Hope. Stephanie explains that she was trying to do the right thing. (Throughout this entire argument Bo is trying to say something – he finally says I’ll go behind the bar). Max wants to know if she came down here because she suddenly realised things weren’t bad enough between them – she wanted to make it worse. Stephanie came because she thought maybe she had been too rash – now she sees she did exactly the right thing. She goes to Bo and tells him that if he needs her to come to the station and give a sworn statement about what Melanie said she would be happy to do so. She turns to Max and starts to say something then says no I’m not going to cry in front of you – she walks away. Max asks Bo – what the hell is there to even cry about. Bo – Uh … she’s in love with an idiot???
Bo tells Max to be mad at him but he has to work things out with his girl. Max claims he has tried but she won’t have it. Bo asks him if he’s tried ‘I’m sorry.’ If he screws things up with Stephanie he really is an idiot. Bo gets a call he has to take. Stephanie comes back. Max says I’m sorry – kind of. Stephanie – me too, kind of. She’s been trying to sort this out – she doesn’t know why it makes her so angry. Max thinks it’s because she hates Melanie. Stephanie says he’s right – she does because she has a brain but he’s so kind and good that he doesn’t see what she’s really like. What scares her is that he’s going to let Melanie get away with this. Max says they don’t even know what happened. Maybe it was an accident – maybe it was one of the 3000 other people that wanted Trent dead. Stephanie says but what if it was Melanie and someone else gets hurt because you’re stopping Bo from finding out the truth. Max says maybe she’s right but it’s just that Melanie is alone and she’s so scared.
Upstairs - Melanie continues unbuttoning Philip’s shirt. She thinks she doesn’t have to convince Philip of anything. He already knows her having her father’s wallet means nothing. Philip thinks that Bo may think differently. Melanie says that Bo will twist anything and Philip knows that – that’s why he didn’t tell him. He knows she didn’t kill anyone. Philip asks her how he’s supposed to know that when she doesn’t know herself whether she did or didn’t. Melanie says it’s because he’s a guy that sees inside a woman. She thinks they’ve made a very deep connection. She’s told him things she’s never told anyone because she saw in his eyes that she could trust him. Philip is so sceptical but Melanie continues with her seduction – they kiss. Melanie knew he’d be good at that. Philip comments that she’s not exactly a novice. She says that’s not nice to say, true – but not nice. Philip hopes she’ll remember this in the morning – after all she doesn’t remember killing her father. Maybe she doesn’t know what she’s doing right now. Melanie wants him to stop talking.
Melanie tackles him to the bed. She doesn’t think they need words – they communicate just fine. Philip tells her she’s wrong – he gets out of the bed. He doesn’t know how good he feels about sleeping with a killer. Melanie calls him a jerk – was if fun for him leading her on and then accusing her of murder. Philip exclaims – leading YOU on – you could give Paris Hilton a few tips. Melanie turns on the tears – Philip calls her on it – sex doesn’t work so you segue into tears. Philip says you were going to give yourself to me to shut me up. He says you do see that this past 30 minutes was a pretty clear admission of guilt. She wouldn’t have done any of this if she didn’t want to desperately keep him quiet. Melanie says so you really did lead me on. Philip just wanted to see how she’d play it. He has some advice for her – the tearful story about her father pimping her out loses all incredibility when she uses sex as a medium of exchange. He tells Melanie they’re going out to face the music.
Downstairs - The three of them are sitting at a table – Bo tells them Sami will be alright – Roman won’t let anything happen to her. He wants to know if the two of them are talking of again. Sort of although Stephanie still thinks Max is making a mistake. Max flies off the handle again. Bo suggests they move forward and forget about what Melanie did or did not say. Stephanie states that she said she did it. Bo replies – and it’s his job to prove that she did or did not do it. He tells Max that it may come as a surprise to him but he does not want to pin a murder rap on an innocent person. That doesn’t mean he isn’t going to continue to investigate a prime suspect. Melanie and Philip come down the stairs into the bar. Stephanie says – what a surprise Max – she wasn’t alone after all. Philip thinks it’s convenient that Bo is there. Melanie starts to say something but he tells her she’s already tried sex and tears and he has all the money he’ll ever need – she is officially out of options. Philip goes up to Bo and asks him if he’s got his handcuffs handy.
He thought it might be important for Bo to know he saw Melanie with Trent’s wallet after the murder. Bo – and it didn’t occur to you to tell me this before. Philip didn’t understand the significance of it at the time. Bo says not only did you not tell me you obviously went and talked it over with your little girlfriend. Philip wanted to be sure – he didn’t want to misread the situation. Now he knows he didn’t. Bo says you want to tell me why. Philip – let’s just say she was desperate to keep me quiet. Melanie says that’s because she knew how Bo would take it. Max doesn’t think Melanie should say anything more without an attorney. She doesn’t need one because it’s just their word against hers. (She starts yelling at Bo). They don’t have any proof. There were no fingerprints on that wallet. Nobody saw her in the cemetery that night. They have nothing so if he thinks she’s going to lie down and die so that he can protect his precious mom he has another thing coming. Bo tells Melanie that Max has a good point – how should be put this – she might want to shut up. Melanie says are you going to read me my rights. Bo says not yet but don’t leave town. Melanie scoffs – you think I’m going to say in this hell hole and let you guys frame me. Max says you can’t go. Melanie yells – watch me and she walks out. Bo says to Max – so Stephanie was right. Melanie confessed. Philip confronts Bo – is he going to let her just leave like that. Bo doesn’t need him to tell him how to do his job. Stephanie tells Max that she knows how much he wanted to believe in Melanie – this must be killing him. Max makes excuses for her. Stephanie points out that a man is dead – even if Melanie was driven to do it and she did it in a trance she still managed to swipe his wallet. Max declares that Stephanie just doesn’t understand her. Stephanie disagrees – she doesn’t understand him. She walks out.
Upstairs - Melanie is packing and talking on her cell – she doesn’t care which bus line – she sees someone slide a note under her door. She picks up the note – I saw you at the cemetery. I know what you did.
Hospital: Kate comes to the hospital to return his swim trunks – they move into an exam room. Kate puts the moves on him but Daniel puts a halt to it – they can’t do this here. Kate says a few things – Daniel tells her to stop – she’s been going a mile a minute since she got there. He’s a doctor – he’s seen this before. He knows she is in agony waiting for yet another test result. It’s driving him crazy too – he’s called the lab 3 times already. Kate tells him not to worry about it anymore – she hasn’t coughed in over 24 hours and she’s feeling fine. She has her appetites back. She reminds him that he told her to live her life as if she wasn’t dying and if she’s not dying she wants him. If she is dying she wants him. She wants to feel – she doesn’t want to think – they kiss. Chelsea asks as a nurse if she’s seen Dr. Jonas. The nurse points to the exam room. Daniel gets a page and breaks the kiss just as Chelsea walks in. She asks if Kate is okay. She is – she just came to return something that Daniel had left behind. Daniel will talk to Chelsea when he gets back from ICU. Chelsea stays to talk to Kate. First Chelsea forgives her because Kate and Daniel are in the past. Then she sees the swim trunks and realises they’re not. She spouts a bunch of horrible things. Kate tells her she made an adult decision – Chelsea broke up with Daniel – Kate also thinks that Chelsea is too old to be throwing these temper tantrums. Chelsea calls her a bitch and tells her she wants her out of her life for good. Kate sees Daniel coming back with a folder in hand – she tells Chelsea be careful of what you wish for. She asks Daniel if those are the results. Daniel asks Chelsea to wait outside. Kate tells him she can stay – this could be the answer to her prayers. Read it. Daniel – metastatic carcinoma. Chelsea cries no – Kate looks at her – yes.
Horton Cabin: Sami absolutely refuses to go into witness protection. Roman says just until they catch the guy. Sami can’t do that to her children – take them away from everyone that loves them. Roman drops the next bombshell – they won’t go – just you. Roman tells her to think about what just happened – her kids could end up without a mother. She won’t be safe until the killer is in jail. Sami scoffs – and with the Salem PD’s record how long will that take. He can’t ask her to stay away from her kids that long. Lucas points out that even if she stays she can’t be with the kids. Being in the same room as her puts them in danger. Marlena assures her that they will all make sure her children are fine. Her dad won’t rest until he finds the killer. Sami says you’re saying my kids are better off without me. Marlena – no one said that. Sami looks at Chloe and rants – she doesn’t want her there – she hates her. Roman agrees – Sami doesn’t need an audience while she tries to decide. Sami has nothing to decide – she is not leaving her children with Lucas & EJ. She is their mother and her children need her. EJ claps.
EJ tells her when she’s right, she’s right. EJ says there is no need for her to go into the witness protection program when she can be safe here. He says she is an easy target here; she wouldn’t be at the DiMera mansion. Marlena sarcastically asks where Sami would stay – in the lair, in the dungeon … Sami interrupts – she won’t hang out in the living room that’s for damn sure. Her eyes are still burning from what she witnessed on the sofa. Sami thinks EJ has some nerve saying the DiMera mansion would be safe when the mayor was shot on the doorstep. EJ knows that she would be safe there and she wouldn’t have to uproot her life. Chloe makes a snide remark. Roman tells Chloe – shut up – this is none of her business. Sami asks Chloe to wait outside. EJ tells Sami – let’s go home. Marlena objects – that’s not her home. Roman has friends at the bureau – he’ll give them a call. Sami complains – did he not hear me say I’m not going. Lucas asks her if she’s really thought this through. She’s gotta do this for her children. She’s gotta do what’s right – keep them protected and safe. Sami touches her stomach and says Lucas is right.
She apologises for being difficult. Marlena wants to know what’s going on. Sami tells her that Lucas made her realise she has to put her children first. She’ll go into the program. EJ tells her she doesn’t have to do this. Sami does – she is going to pack. EJ doesn’t understand – she was 100% percent against the idea and then 2 seconds later she does a complete 180. She was convinced to see reason. EJ knows she doesn’t work like that. Sami has had a really difficult day – she doesn’t need EJ second-guessing her. Marlena tells Sami she is doing the right thing – she’s not sure why she’s doing it though. Sami says Lucas changed her mind. Marlena thinks that this is the safest thing for her. Roman tells Sami that she has to go right away – they can’t give the guy a chance to regroup. They’re going to bring her babies too her so she can say goodbye. Lucas tells Roman that the twins are with Caroline. Roman says no – as soon as he heard what had happened he had called Hope to pick them up – there’s a squad car assigned to watch them. Sami doesn’t know what she’ll say to them – they won’t understand this. EJ tells her she can change her mind – she doesn’t have to do this. She tells him she has to pack. EJ asks Marlena what’s going on. Lucas answers she’s just thinking about the kids. EJ says no that’s not it – he looks at Marlena and says and you don’t think so either.
It’s just Sami and Lucas now. Lucas is proud of her for doing the right thing – she’s being a great mother – being totally selfless. Lucas realises by her reaction that this isn’t about Allie and Johnny – it’s about her and her little secret. Sami says it does solve one of her problems and it keeps the twins safe. Lucas thinks she’s not thinking ahead – what is she going to do if her dad finds the guy tomorrow. If that doesn’t happen what is she going to say when she comes back with a baby. Oh look what I found at a yard sale – it’s a baby that looks just like EJ, talks like him … Sami tells him to stop. She could really use his support right now. She knows that this won’t last forever but it buys her some time to figure things out but only if he keeps her secret. She wants him to promise not to say anything. Lucas isn’t happy about keeping her secret. Sami starts to say he’s kept the secret this long … then she breaks down – what is she saying – what kind of life is she living. Lucas says it will get better. Sami doesn’t know how that’s possible when she’ll be living away from her kids. Lucas tells her it’s just until they catch the guy. Sami thinks it’s what she deserves for keeping Will from him – karmic payback is a bitch. Lucas will keep her pregnancy a secret but if she goes into the program doesn’t she have to tell someone – she’ll need tests and stuff. Sami doesn’t know – she just found out she’s going into the program an hour ago. Lucas thinks if she just would tell EJ it wouldn’t be a problem. Sami can’t – he’ll hate her and he’d … Lucas says ‘and he’ll leave you’. He doesn’t know what she sees in that guy. Sami doesn’t want to go there. She’s afraid of leaving Johnny in that house with Stefano and Nicole – 2 people who would love to turn her son against her. Lucas won’t let that happen. Sami tells Lucas that what’s really crazy about this whole thing is that she’s probably the only person whose life gets simpler by going into the program.
Sami is with Marlena looking at pictures of the twins – she doesn’t know if she can say goodbye to them. Marlena hugs her – she has to keep it together so she doesn’t frighten them. Sami knows. Marlena says you know you can’t contact any of us once you leave her – does she have anything she wants to tell her. It’s just a mother’s instinct that Sami might want to talk to her. EJ comes in and tells that her Dad is coming in with the kids. She tells Marlena there isn’t anything. Sami is holding Allie, EJ is holding Johnny – she has a good idea. The twins can draw her pictures every single day and she’ll look at them all when she gets back. The dads agree. Roman sees the photo album – she can’t take this with her. She can’t take anything that will tie her to her life here. She promises she’ll keep it hidden. Roman tells her the FBI guy will go through everything and confiscate it. Sami cries – she doesn’t think she can do this. Roman tells Sami there isn’t much time. She pulls herself together. Marlena gets a call. She has to leave – it’s an emergency and she has no one to cover her. She tells Sami they’ll say goodbye over the phone. They hug. Roman starts taking Sami’s bags out to the car – Chloe offers to help. Sami tells EJ Johnnie dropped his car. She crouches down to talk to Johnny. He puts his hand on her stomach and says ‘baby’. EJ looks at Sami – baby???
Preview: Chelsea talking to someone – We knew she was sick but we were just too preoccupied with out own little issues. What if it’s too late? Nick to Melanie – You going somewhere? Melanie – Yeah. I’m getting the hell out of Salem. Nicole talking to Pookie and the basketball that’s now under her top – If EJ is holding that little twit’s hand while I’m standing here and growing stretch marks I swear I’m going to shoot them both.

Monday Oct 27
Melanie & Nick: There's a repeat of Melanie reading the note in her room. She lights a match to burn it when there's a knock on her door. It's Nick. There's a lot of conversation about Nick smelling smoke - finally Melanie tells him she had a smoke. Nick saw her final blog - he could tell something was wrong. Melanie tells him that everyone in Salem thinks she's a murderer. Nick doesn't. He finally notices the suitcases. Melanie says she's leaving town - her father is dead, her brother turned on her - there's nothing here for her. Nick tells her that running will only make her look more guilty. He tells her that if she stays he'll be there for her - he'll protect her from everyone - Max, Stephanie, the Brady's. He cares for - they have this connection - he knows she feels it too. Melanie wants to know if he's saying he wants to get serious with her.
Java Cafe: Chelsea comes in and sits at a computer - she does a search on lung cancer. She's crying. One of the workers sits and talks with her. Chelsea tells him about Kate's diagnosis. She never smoked a day in her life - the guy said the same thing happened to his friend. Chelsea mentions that Kate had a cough for months and everyone in the family knew about it. They all were dealing with their own issues to pay attention - now it may be too late.
Nick and Melanie come in - Nick explains that he wants to be her friend. Melanie laughs - she knew that - she was only teasing him. They're going to start talking about a plan to prove her innocence - Melanie excuses herself for a moment. Chelsea tells the guy that she had told her grandmother she had wanted her out of her life for good just before she got the diagnosis ... the guy thinks she needs a friend. Chelsea sees Nick and goes over and asks him if he has time to talk. He's busy - maybe tomorrow. Chelsea sees Melanie. She tells Nick to forget - they're obviously not as close as she thought they were. As Melanie walks past Chelsea's table Chelsea asks her if she's having a good time with her ex-boyfriend. Melanie is - Nick is nice. Chelsea agrees - she adds he's also naive. He doesn't see you for the scheming bitch that you are.
Nick comes to Melanie's defence - he tells Chelsea that Melanie's had a really rough day. Chelsea thinks that's what happens when you murder your father. She adds that everyone is talking about it. Melanie doesn't think Chelsea is in any position to talk - isn't she the one that ran her brother over in the street and left him there to die. Chelsea slaps her - Melanie doesn't know anything about it. She goes on to say that when she was dating Max people told him he could do better and they were right. What she does know is that he deserves a lot better than Melanie. She feels sorry for Nick - she leaves. Nick tells Melanie to forget about Chelsea - she was mad at him and she took it out on her. He'll take her home after she has some tea and tomorrow they'll come up with a plan. While Nick is getting the tea - Melanie checks the internet on her cell to see when the first flight out of Salem is in the morning.
Horton Cabin: EJ wants to know what the hell Johnny meant when he touched Sami's stomach and said baby. Sami returns from putting Johnny down and tells EJ he has to watch his language in front of the children. EJ wants an answer. Sami doesn't know why he said it - he's been learning a lot of new words lately. EJ wants to know why she's being so skittish. Sami throws up the fact that she was shot up and that she has to go into witness protection and she may not see her children again until they're applying for college. She gets up to get something for Allie - Lucas tells her to stay calm. Chloe comes in and says that Sami is milking the situation for all it's worth. Sami calls her insensitive. EJ still wants an answer. Sami thinks that maybe Johnny was talking to Allie - her and Eric use to have their own secret language. Roman backs her up - in fact Eric used to call Sami 'Baby' all the time. Sami says twins have a special bond. She wants Lucas and EJ to let the children spend a lot of time together. They agree. Roman tells Sami it's time. As she's saying a tearful goodbye to the twins EJ slips an envelope in her purse. He comes back and kisses her head and takes Johnny from her. He then kisses her cheek and tells her to stay safe - they leave. Sami then says goodbye to Allie and Lucas. Outside the cabin Roman introduces her to her police guard, Darrell. (You'll recognise him from NYPD Blue).
After Sami is gone and Lucas has Allie down Chloe starts her rant about Sami and how she's always causing trouble. She lets her insecurities show because she thinks Lucas is heartbroken that Sami is gone. Lucas finally yells her name to get her attention. He's sad for the children but he's glad Sami is gone. She's driven him crazy for half of his life and he's done with it. Chloe then thinks they shouldn't get used to it - she'll probably be back soon. Lucas thinks she will be gone for a long time. Chloe clues in that Sami is using this as a way to keep her pregnancy a secret from EJ. They talk about Will for a bit. Chloe agrees to keep Sami's secret. They start kissing ...
DiMera mansion: Nicole has a running conversation going with Pookie. She's reading about the changes that occur in a woman's body while she's pregnant. She complains that EJ is with that twit - she'd like to shoot them both. EJ returns and Nicole starts with the smart remarks. EJ asks her to please not be upset right now. Nicole says why not - you said you were going to the office and you ended up at the cabin with Sami. She asks him why he was there and then proceeds to answer the question for him. EJ finally says I was there to check on Johnny and make sure he was safe. That shuts Nicole up - she's sorry - is Johnny okay. EJ tells her he's upstairs asleep. He wants to go for a walk to clear his head - he asks her if she can look after Johnny if he wakes up. Nicole agrees - after all if Sami can do it, it can't be that difficult.
Safe House: Roman, Sami and Darrell arrive. Sami says at least it has indoor plumbing. Roman tells her that she has to do everything Darrell tells her. They say their goodbyes. Sami hopes Darrell is a gourmet cook. He's a vegan - Sami isn't thrilled. He then tells her how things are going to be - she will never be alone. If she needs anything he will go and get it once backup arrives. He pulls out a cigar and asks her if she minds if he smokes. Sami almost lets it slip that she's pregnant but tells him she's allergic - he'll have to smoke outside. While he's gone Sami finds the photos in her purse. Darrell sees them when he comes back. Sami thinks EJ must have put them in her purse. Darrell is going to check her purse and luggage in case EJ planted a tracking bug. Sami says EJ is almost the last person she wants to find her. The hit man is outside the cabin on his cell - Sami has disappeared. He'll find her and this time she won't get away.
Preview: Chelsea to Dan - I was wondering if you had a minute. It's about Kate. Dan - Sure. Chelsea - Is she going to die? Kate to Lucas and Philip - I need to be sure that I'm leaving things in capable hands. Philip - What do you mean leaving things? Lucas - Yeah, why are you talking like this? Bo to Melanie who's leaving the pub with her suitcase (Hope & Max are there also) - So you don't care that your father left you a will?

Hospital – Part 1: Chelsea comes to see Daniel – she wants to know if Kate is going to die. Daniel can’t discuss Kate’s case with her. Chelsea rants. Daniel tells her that no one knows how this is going to go until Kate gets her treatment. Chelsea apologises. She tells him that she knows Kate is sick – she wishes she could take back the things she said. Dan feels sure that Kate will forgive her. Chelsea hopes she can do the same. She goes on to say that Kate has been good to her – she needs Kate to know how important she is to her. It’s her turn to take care of her. They talk a bit more. Daniel leaves. Chelsea recalls Kate sitting with her in the hospital after her surgery. She gets an idea – she leaves.
Kiriakis mansion: Philip and Lucas join Kate on the terrace for coffee. She felt it was time to have a serious talk about the future with her sons. She talks about her company – the first one that is all her own. That’s why she asked them there. She needs to make sure she is leaving things in capable hands. She’s going to be taking a little time off. They want to know if this is about her latest biopsy – did she get the results. Kate tells them she has lung cancer. She concurs with Philip that its better she knows – she can fight it now. Lucas assures her that they will be right by her side. Philip talks optimistically – he did research – there are so many new treatments now. Lucas asks – what’s all this talk about leaving her business. Kate says it’s only temporary – while she is in treatment. That’s why she’s asking for help from her sons. Philip asks what they can do. Kate wants him to release Lucas from his contract because she wants Lucas to manage things for a while. Philip says done. Lucas will keep his eye on things at the company for her. He assumes the diagnosis came from Daniel – doesn’t she think she should get a second opinion. Kate says no way. Philip tells Lucas to let her make this decision. Lucas thinks they should talk to Victor – he can fly in specialists. Kate says there isn’t anything that anyone else could do that Daniel can’t. She knows that they don’t approve of her involvement with Daniel but she is begging them to put that aside for now. Philip says all they want is for her to be cured and if Daniel’s the man for that … That’s not good enough for Lucas.
Lucas is adamant that they don’t accept a diagnosis from one doctor no matter how good he is. He will make his own calls … Kate says no. Daniel has assembled an excellent team. She talks about the doctors on the team – she didn’t take Daniel’s word on how good they were – she went on line and did her own research. She thanks them both for being so committed to helping her. Lucas says okay – what do they do next? Kate is starting chemotherapy today so she needs him to take over at Hearth & Home right now. Because of the side effects she may be out of commission for a while. She talked to Billie & Austin earlier so they know what’s going on. She’s all packed and ready to go – Daniel arrives – there’s her ride. Lucas wants to speak to Daniel. Philip tells Kate he’s proud of how strong she is. Kate admits to having her moments. Philip wishes it hadn’t turned out this way – it’s going to be tough. Kate knows – she speaks optimistically – Philip agrees. Kate tears up – she is so lucky to have so much love and support in her life. They hug. She tells him they’ve been through a lot together – they’ll get through this too. Daniel tells Lucas this is what Kate wants. Lucas thinks Kate doesn’t know what she wants – she was just told she has lung cancer – she’s not thinking clearly. Dan thinks he’s short-changing his mother – hasn’t it occurred to him that she has given this a lot of thought. She’s a smart woman capable of making an informed decision about her life. Lucas knows that – it’s just with Daniel’s involvement with her … Daniel tells Lucas not to short-change him either. What kind of doctor would he be if he let his feelings interfere with his ability to do his job. Lucas apologises. Kate is ready to go. She tells Lucas and Philip that she will have someone call her once everything is done. They inform her that they’re going with her.
Brady Pub: Bo and Hope come in and tell Max they’re there on business – where’s Melanie. Max tells them she’s upstairs. Hope goes to get her. Max has something to say to Bo. Melanie has a dream about another note being shoved on her door – wherever she looks she sees another one. She wakes up when Hope knocks on the door. Hope tells her to get dressed and come downstairs – they need to talk to her. Hope leaves – Melanie gets a call – the electronically altered voice says the exact same thing the note said; ‘I saw you in the cemetery. I know what happened.’ Melanie panics – what if Bo and Hope know. She throws stuff if her suitcase – if the Brady’s think they are going to nail her for this they are sadly mistaken. Max tells Bo that judging by Melanie’s behaviour when Philip told them about the wallet he’s starting to think he made a mistake. Melanie is starting to look guilty – he thinks she is the one that killed Trent. Hope knows how difficult this is for him – he just found his sister. She’s sorry. Max tells her not to waste her sympathy on him. It’s Melanie he’s worried about. If she did kill him it was because she was pushed to the limit. Hope says that still doesn’t give her the right … Max knows that. He’s not defending what she did but it doesn’t stop him from worrying about her even if she is guilty. Bo tells Max that makes sense – she’s his sister. Max says she has no options left – he’s afraid she’s going to do something desperate. He looks out the window – like that. They go outside. Melanie is calling for a cab – Bo takes the phone – she won’t need the cab. He asks Melanie where she thinks she is going. She tells him it’s none of his business. Bo tells her it kind of is because they told her not to leave Salem. Melanie isn’t going to stick around there and endure more abuse. She didn’t kill her father and he has no proof she did so technically she can go wherever she wants. She starts walking away. Bo says so you don’t care that your father left a will. They’re flying his attorney into Salem – he should be at the police station soon. Hope asks Melanie if she isn’t the tiny bit curious about what her father left her.
Java Cafe: Abe, Theo and Lexie are sitting at a table with Evan. Lexie asks Evan to go over everything again. Evan says it’s basically a day in the life type of profile for the Salem Spectator’s Sunday magazine. He thinks they got the cover. The photographer wants to get some candid shots of the family interacting. Lexie doesn’t think Theo is up for this – Abe wants to know when she decided that. Lexie has always had concerns – besides they had to practically drag him here this morning. He didn’t want to come – he started screaming and banging his head in the car. Abe points out that he is calm now. He wants to know why she came down here if she had no intention of staying. Evan excuses himself. Abe reminds her that she was the one that said they would fight this together and now she’s thinking this is not good for her … not good for Theo, what? Lexie tells him to stop bullying her. He isn’t – he’s trying to understand. One day she’s all for this – now she’s reluctant – he wants to know what is on her mind so he doesn’t have to guess. Lexie says it’s not about her, it’s about Theo. How is he going to be once they start taking photos? Abe tells her to have faith in him – he would not expose Theo to this kind of attention if he sensed it was not good for him. Lexie repeats that Theo didn’t want to come. She gives all kinds of reasons why Theo wouldn’t want this. Abe says they don’t know what Theo is thinking. Lexie states it’s hard on her – how can it not be hard on a little boy. Abe thinks this article may be the exact push his campaign needs. Lexie says or it could backfire.
Lexie gives Theo a computer game to play with and some raisins to eat – she tells him Mommy & Daddy will be over there. They leave Theo at the table alone. Lexie insists to Abe that this is about Theo not her. Abe wants to know why she agreed to this in the first place. Lexie felt pressured to do it – now she’s changed her mind. Abe points out that Theo is doing fine. Lexie thinks that is because no one has asked him to perform yet. Abe says no one is asking him to perform – all he has to do is be exactly what he is, their son. Lexie says because of who he is they can’t predict how he’ll react to a strange, frightening situation. Anything could set him off – what if he has a meltdown during the interview or photo shoot. She read about the journalist – she’s tough. Abe says so because she’s tough she’s going to say horribly cruel things about an autistic child. Lexie says she can say cruel things about them and how they deal with their autistic child. Is he forgetting about the last press conference. Does he want to risk that happening again? Evan approaches them – the photographer is ready. The photo shoot is going to very casual – just the family together. As they talk Theo runs to another table and picks up a cup – a lady asks him what he’s doing – he drops the cup, it shatters – he screams.
Lexie apologises to the woman. The woman thinks that they should keep a closer eye on their son. Lexie says maybe you shouldn’t tell me how to deal with my son. Abe steps in and apologises again. The woman recognises him – isn’t he the guy running for mayor. She saw the press conference. She heard what the babysitter said – wait; is this the autistic kid. Lexie has a meltdown – he has a name. Its Theo. Evan steps in and offers the woman another drink and a piece of cake. Abe tells Lexie not to blow this out of proportion. It was an accident – Theo spilled her drink – the woman is insensitive – leave it at that. Lexie can’t. There are too many insensitive people out there and she isn’t going to take the chance of any of them hurting her son. He has a tough enough road ahead of him without being exposed (she turns towards the people) and shouts to people who just don’t get it. She tells Abe she’s taking Theo home. Abe asks her to listen to him. He is proud of her and their son. She’s a wonderful mother and Theo is going to be okay because of that. Both of them are committed to giving him the best life possible. They are real people dealing with real challenges – just like any other family. They have nothing to hide – for better or worse, in good moments and in bad the three of them stick together. Evan comes and tells them the photographer is having an equipment malfunction – it’s going to be an hour before they get started. He goes to call the reporter. Abe tells Lexie to take Theo home and think about what he said. If she doesn’t want to come back he’ll understand. Lexie tells him they’ll be back because they’re family and family sticks together. Family hug.
Police Station: Mr. Berman is there – Bo thanks him for coming and introduces him to Hope and Max. Melanie just wants to know what their daddy left her and Max. Mr. Berman reads the will – the entire estate is left to Melanie – unfortunately Trent died insolvent. He’s very deeply in debt in fact. Melanie says so this was just a big waste of time. Mr Berman says not entirely. He had a small pension plan and some profit participation and ownership in Nick Fallon’s alternate fuel project. Melanie doesn’t think she’ll be getting rich on that. Max wants to know why he was invited to the reading of the will. Mr. Berman informs him that he was mentioned in the new codicil to the will. Trent left Max a box. Max doesn’t want it – he storms out – Hope follows. Melanie reaches for the box – she’ll give it to Max later. Bo says no you won’t. He takes the box and tells the lawyer he’ll give it to Max when the time is right. Bo asks if there’s anything else in the will – there isn’t. Bo leaves Melanie and the lawyer alone. The lawyer didn’t reveal everything in the meeting – her father left him this envelope to be opened in the event of his death. Melanie wants it. The lawyer isn’t sure that’s the right thing to do – he should turn it over to the detectives. Melanie turns on the charm – she always thought of him as a second father. If he cares about her as much as he says he does he will let her see the letter before anyone else does. He agrees but he’s counting on her to share it with the police after she reads it – do the right thing. He leaves. Melanie starts opening the letter – when Hope and Bo come in she stuffs the letter into her purse. She’s leaving. Hope says so soon – they were wondering how she is doing. Bo says the reading of the will must have been tough on her but she had a family friend there in Mr. Berman – that must have been comforting. Melanie shrugs – not especially. Hope asks if they had a nice chat. Melanie says they just said goodbye. Bo asks if she is sure there was nothing else. Positive – now if they’re done cross examining her she’s going to leave. Hope steps in front of her – not quite. Bo tells her they want the letter. Isn’t she going to at least tell them what’s in it.
Hospital – Part 2: A doctor tells Kate that the chemo drugs will be administered through the IV. She talks about the side effects – everyone reacts differently. The guys settle in for the long haul but Kate convinces them she would rather be alone. She’ll have Daniel call them when it’s over. Philip leaves. Lucas would rather stay behind. Kate wants him to go and check on the new ad campaign. She needs to do this her own way. Lucas says fine – he’ll go and work. Chelsea comes in and brings Kate a St Sophia medal. Grandpa Victor gave it to her when she wasn’t feeling well. Chelsea says it worked for her so she hopes it will do the same for Kate. Kate nods – Chelsea leaves.
Preview: Melanie to Bo & Hope – I’m done being harassed while I mourn my father’s death and if it doesn’t stop I’m going to press charges. Nicole to EJ – The baby doesn’t necessarily mean marriage. EJ – But if we don’t get married than we do have to work out some kind of custody arrangement. Chloe to Philip – You’re scared, aren’t you? Philip – I’m scared to death. Chloe – People beat cancer.

Wednesday Oct 29
Java Café – Part 1: Chloe approaches Philip and asks if he has seen Lucas (after some small talk). She’s been trying to get a hold of him but he hasn’t called back – he must be closing some big business deal. Philip informs her that they were at the hospital an hour ago. They took their mother there – she has lung cancer. Chloe is so sorry. Philip says she’s having chemotherapy today – she can go home when the treatment is finished. She didn’t want them to stay – she doesn’t like them to see her when she’s not in control. Philip doesn’t like the part of him that was relieved when she told them not to stay. Lucas wanted to. Chloe tells him not to feel bad about doing what his mother wanted him to do. People beat cancer – look at her. Philip has done some research – now that he knows what they’re dealing with he’s going to get the facts and statistics. He admits to be scared to death. Chloe says she did the same – she read everything she could. She cautions him about the internet – there are so many web sites – don’t read only the scary stuff – read the hopeful stuff too. Chloe adds that he knows how strong his mother is – that counts. Philip knows she won’t give up. He changes the subject – how are her and Lucas doing? Chloe says they’re fine. Philip is glad they are tight because he’s not that good at being a brother in a time of need. He’s glad Lucas has her to talk to because she’s good at it. Chloe asks him who he’s going to talk to. Philip is fine. Chloe tells him that she’ll be there for both Lucas and him. Philip doesn’t think he should be her concern anymore.
DiMera mansion – Part 1: Nicole is talking with an interior designer. The woman wants to know the sex of the baby because some of the materials take at least six months to get. Nicole asks her to come up with a design for either sex. The woman doesn’t and can’t work like that. EJ comes in – Nicole introduces him to the designer. EJ would like to speak to Nicole. The designer informs Nicole that she will bill her for a full consultation – Nicole tells her that if she doesn’t get in there and charm EJ the project is dead in the water. The woman thinks Nicole is up to the challenge. She leaves. Nicole goes in and plays EJ for the sap he is. She plays the poor me – I’ve overstepped – I’m just a guest here line on him. EJ isn’t mad – he just thinks the redecorating is jumping the gun. He understands that she wants to build a home for herself and the baby – she wants to feel like she lives here – that she’s not a visitor. EJ thinks they should have a conversation about marriage.
Nicole glows – you want to marry me? EJ finds his brain long enough to say he wants to talk about it. Right now they’re living under the same roof but they need to talk about what happens after the baby is born. Nicole claims that a baby doesn’t necessarily mean marriage. EJ agrees but if they don’t get married they’ll have to work out some custody arrangement. Nicole was hoping for something a little more romantic so EJ placates her and tells her that she has beautiful eyes but come on – one of the things they have in common is bedrock practicality. The other thing they have in common is that they both want what is best for the child. Nicole wants the baby to be happy. So does EJ – that’s why they’re talking about marriage. Nicole asks EJ if he thinks the baby will be happier if they are married. EJ thinks it’s possible – he talks about shared custody with Sami and how difficult it is for him to let Johnny go with her. With this baby it will be different. Nicole wonders if this is his way of claiming ownership in a Stefano DiMera father-type way she’ll have to think about. EJ grins because she actually put someone else first for a change.
Safe house: Sami is on the phone to the clinic saying she thinks she’ll be there today when Darrell comes in and catches her. He takes the cell and checks the number she called. He wants to know why she called the clinic. She tells him that she doesn’t feel well. Darrell says he’s the one that makes the calls – not her. He wants to know what is wrong. She thinks she has food poisoning – it comes in waves. He thinks she’s trying to pull one over on him. Sami starts ranting and then runs to the bathroom with her mouth covered. When she comes out he comments that she really was sick. People in the program fake it sometime to get information from the outside but she wasn’t faking. He offers her some ginger-ale. Sami asks him to take her to the clinic. He can’t; it’s against policy. Sami says what about untreated medical emergencies – what if she was really sick and he did nothing. He reaches for a cigar but Sami stops him – it’s just a force of habit he declares. Sami thinks he’s nervous because he knows she is right – what would her Dad say if he found out she was sick and he did nothing. How would that help him climb the ladder? Darrell will see what he can do about this – and it’s not because of her dad or climbing any ladder.
Darrell returns with some ginger-ale and a doctor (who is blind-folded). Darrell tells the doctor that his diagnosis is that Sami is a spoiled bitch. Sami asks the guy if he’s a real doctor. The doctor pulls out his medical license. He brought it along because he understands that a situation like this makes a person very cautious. Sami thanks him and apologises for being rude – she’s been under a lot of stress. The doctor heard she was suffering from abdominal pains and vomiting – any other symptoms. Sami asks Darrell to leave so she can talk to the doctor in private. He refuses – she’s in the witness protection program – nothing is private. The doctor steps in – a medical exam is private. If Darrell doesn’t leave he’ll have to report this to the AMA and the FBI. Sami likes the guy. Darrell leaves them alone muttering that Sami better be really, really sick. As soon as he’s gone Sami tells the doctor she’s not really sick. She’s pregnant and she wants to make sure her baby is okay.
After the exam the doctor says she’s in good health and the baby is doing fine. He asks if she needs a prescription for pre-natal drugs. Sami brought plenty. She tells the doctor he can’t tell anyone about the baby. He won’t but she should. Darrell comes back in. The doctor tells him that Sami is under considerable stress and he doesn’t think Darrell’s attitude is helping any. While she’s not in any immediate danger she is going to need a good diet and regular exercise and she is going to need follow up medical care. The doctor tells Sami to take good care of herself – Darrell blindfolds him and leads him out. Darrell returns to find Sami exercising. She says it’s making her hungry – she goes to the fridge to have some pickles. Darrell doesn’t think she was ever sick because if she had food poisoning the doctor would have been grilling him about what she ate and where he had gotten it from. She might be able to wrap that doctor around her little finger but not him – he’s on to her. He lectures her about the more often he has to call someone or go out the greater the risk of her being found. Sami thinks he’s the most paranoid person she’s ever met. Darrell tells her that is about to change – he’s been reassigned. His replacement arrives – he leaves. Sami introduces herself. The woman replies – I’m Hilda, your worst nightmare.
Police Station: Bo asks about the letter – Melanie acts like she doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Bo says the letter you shoved into your purse. Hope informs her that she was set up. Melanie doesn’t understand. Hope says the letter you have was meant for us. Melanie didn’t know that – she thought it was for her. Bo says that’s another one of those pesky little lies. Because Berman was helping them out they know he told her to give them the letter. This is their way of proving that she’s not co-operating and that she is actually impeding the investigation. Melanie proclaims that this isn’t an investigation – it’s them trying to pin a murder on her instead of finding out who really did it. Hope warns her not to turn on the tears – it would really tick her off. Bo tells Melanie that she doesn’t want to do that. He asks for the letter. Melanie hands it over. Bo takes out the letter and reads it – he shows it to Hope. Melanie wants to know what it says.
Bo tells her she can go now. Hope cautions her not to leave town – they’re not going to tell her what is in the letter – its evidence. Melanie takes the opportunity to let them know how much she dislikes them – she’s not a fan of people who try to frame her for murder. She mocks them – they thought the letter would be the smoking gun but it didn’t say anything about her – if it did she would be in cuffs already. So they have nothing on her. Bo says that’s because you haven’t told us the whole truth about what happened that night. Melanie claims they don’t want the truth – they just want to protect their stupid family. Bo says they want to find out who killed her father. Melanie informs them that she’s done being harassed while she mourns her father’s death and if it doesn’t stop she’s going to press charges. She starts to walk out but Hope stops her. She hands Melanie a card with the number for their community outreach program – they’ll be able to tell her which forms to fill out to file a complaint. Bo tells her she could hire a private attorney – that would be up to her. Melanie rips up the card and tells them they can go to hell. She leaves. Bo tells Hope that Melanie was right about one thing – they weren’t expecting this (he has the evidence bag with the letter in his hand). He’s going to take it to the lab – when he picks up the envelope he finds another smaller envelope inside with another letter. Hope returns with the lab report – only Trent’s fingerprints on the first document. The envelope had Trent’s, Melanie’s and the lawyer’s fingerprints on it. The lab also confirms the letter is in Trent’s handwriting. Bo asks her what she thinks about the second letter. Hope thinks they need to go and pay someone a visit. Bo agrees – they leave.
Java Café – Part 2: Lucas needs her – he’ll be fine. Chloe asks him if he thinks she can bump into him knowing what he’s going through and just turn off her feelings. Philip thinks it’s important that they realise what they had – it’s not what she and Lucas have – he doesn’t want anything screwing that up. Chloe thinks that’s a little arrogant – the implication is that she’s settling for Lucas and because poor Lucas needs her they better keep their distance because he’s (Philip) is so darn irresistible. Philip laughs – she never did let him get away with anything. Chloe says she is crazy about Lucas but don’t tell her she can’t be a friend to him as well when he’s going through something like this. Philip thinks Lucas is really lucky. They agree to be friends. Melanie walks in and asks Philip who he’s hitting on now. Chloe comments that it took her less than 2 seconds to really dislike her. Philip introduces Melanie as Max’s sister. Philip says she’s under a little stress – murder suspects never have a nice day. Chloe leaves to track down Lucas but not before telling Philip to ditch Melanie. Melanie starts taunting Philip – he did everything in his power to get her in trouble with Bo and Hope but it didn’t work. She just walked out of that police station – they have nothing on her. He didn’t touch her.
Melanie gushes – they thought the letter was going to nail her. She thinks the letter said who did it – the letter cleared her. Philip bursts her bubble – so she’s saying that before he died her father her father not only knew that someone was out to get him, he also knew who it was? And then he goes to the cemetery alone in the middle of the night? Letters from dead people aren’t proof of anything. He also points out that she still claims she doesn’t know what happened that night how can she be sure she didn’t kill him. The only thing that will clear her is someone stepping forward and saying they did it – he doesn’t see that happening. Melanie leaves in a huff. Chloe returns. Lucas called her before she got to her car. He says he’s okay – they’re going to meet up later. She told Lucas that Philip was fine – was she lying? Lucas told her to ask Philip to come with her. Philip really does have work to do. Chloe says your mother has cancer – don’t push me away (Melanie is listening). Chloe tells her to call her and Lucas – he’s not going through this alone. She kisses him and leaves. Melanie comes back to his table – she had no idea about his mom. She says she’s not such a bad person that she doesn’t understand how awful he probably feels. She’s sorry.
DiMera mansion – Part 2: Nicole thinks maybe she was too harsh – EJ is nothing like his father. This baby of hers is lucky to have EJ as its father. The doorbell rings – Nicole answers it. It’s Bo and Hope. Bo tells her they want to talk to her about her husband’s homicide. They have a few more questions. Nicole claims she has already told them everything she knows. EJ comes up. Hope says they have new evidence – they think she can help. Nicole will try – she tells them to come in. Bo tells EJ they’d like to speak to Nicole alone. EJ informs them that he is her lawyer – they can’t question her without him being present. Bo says fine – they need to know what really happened the night of Trent’s murder. Bo asks for confirmation that the statement she gave the night of the murder is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. EJ asks if they are accusing her of lying. Nicole thinks they are accusing her of murder. Hope says they didn’t do any accusing. Bo is simply giving her the opportunity to amend her previous statement … Hope adds … if there happens to be any inaccuracies or omissions. EJ tells Nicole not to say anything – they’re fishing. Bo apologises for wasting their time. He pulls out a paper and hands it to Hope. Hope looks at it and tells Nicole that it’s a copy of her statement – she asks her to resign it and date it and they will leave. EJ grabs it. Nicole asks – what are they doing. Hope tells her they just need documentation that they gave her the opportunity to change or adjust her statement about that night. EJ wants to know what they are up to. Bo says they’re following the rules. Hope says ‘just a little something we can take to the judge to prove she lied to us. Proves at the very least that she’s impeding the investigation.’ Bo says unless Nicole wants to tell them something else that happened that night – for example maybe she ran into Robbins sometime after she left the pub. Nicole says she told them that she didn’t. Bo says and that’s the truth? Nicole says yes – she notices the looks exchanged between Bo and Hope. She wants to know why Bo is looking at Hope like that – what’s going on here. EJ tells her not to say anything more. Hope asks if she is continuing to say that she did not run into Trent Robbins anyplace that night. Maybe had an argument about all the money she lost because of him. Bo tells her to just sign the statement and they’ll be gone. EJ claims that this is harassment. Nicole wants to know why they’re doing to this to her. Bo answers – because we know you’re lying and we’ve got proof.
Preview: Hilda to Sami – You’re not getting killed – not on my watch unless of course I decide to do it myself. Lucas to Daniel (Chloe is with him) – I think I have a right to know. Is she going to make it? Bo with Hope to EJ & Nicole – This is a search warrant. Now we have probable cause so we’ll take a look around the premises.

Thursday Oct 30
Safe house: Hilda gives Sami a list of safe house rules and regulations to read – it’s Witness Protection 101. Sami complains. Hilda calmly tells her that she has been there only one day and she’s already caused one guard to quit – bottom line – Sami is not getting killed on her watch unless she decides to do it herself. No more shenanigans. She tells Sami – no more talking – she is going to watch Law &Order SVU. Sami asks what that smell is. Hilda likes to cook – its bratwurst and sauerkraut. Hilda is now watching wrestling – she’s really into the match. Sami wonders if maybe she should be patrolling the perimeter – Darrell used to talk about that. Hilda knows that Sami complained about being left alone – she doesn’t have to worry anymore. She will ensure that Sami is never left alone – not for a moment. Sami is thrilled – overjoyed. Hilda offers her some of her meal – Sami declines. She asks if it’s okay to take a shower. Hilda says sure – but leave the door wide open.
Hilda is now in her p.j.’s and robe complete with a facial mask and a sleeping mask and her hair under something similar to a cap the doctors wear in surgery. Sami notices the ear plugs and the sleeping mask – should she really be using them when her job is focused on keeping someone’s life safe. Hilda claims she is a very light sleeper. She’s going to make her bed on the sofa. Sami notices it’s close to the bed where she is going to sleep. Hilda warns Sami that she snores – quite loudly from what she’s been told. It’s time for bed. Sami says its 7 o’clock. Hilda suffers from insomnia so early to bed. Sami is a night owl. Hilda says too bad – Sami’s safe house but her rules. Someone rings the doorbell. Sami freaks out – what if it’s the killer? Hilda doesn’t think the guy would ring the doorbell. She tells Sami to hide – she’ll take care of the security threat. It’s a kid out for Halloween – Hilda gives him raisins. The kid is not impressed. Hilda tells him to tell his friends they’re not welcome here. Sami comments that it’s her twins first Halloween. Hilda thinks trick or treating is licensed begging – she never let her kids go. Sami – you have kids. Hilda asks Sami if she wants to see pictures – she hauls Sami down on the couch. She points them out and tells Sami their names. Then she starts talking about her children, her life, her cheating spouse – she doesn’t even notice that Sami gets off the couch.
Hilda is still talking – Sami has made herself some tea. As Hilda continues nattering Sami goes through Hilda’s bag looking for another set of earplugs – she finds sleeping pills – even better. Sami breaks several tablets apart and puts the drug in a cup of tea. She gives it to Hilda – its sleepy tea – it helps soothe and calm you down. Hilda takes it – it’s delicious. Sami didn’t make it too hot so she can drink it as fast as she wants. Hilda downs the rest. Sami asks if she wants more. Hilda feels sleepy. Hilda keeps talking trying to stay awake but she finally passes out. Sami is thrilled – yes, peace – free at last. Outside the door we see a guy entering the hallway as the camera cuts back to a smiling Sami.
DiMera mansion: Nicole gets very confrontational – they have no proof she is lying. She can think of a 1000 people that wanted Trent Robbins dead. How dare they come here and accuse her. EJ tells her not to say anything more. Nicole declares she has nothing to hide. Bo hands Hope an evidence bag. Hope asks Nicole – what about this? Nicole knows it’s her marriage certificate. Bo and Hope tell her it was found in Trent’s personal effects. It was given to Melanie during the reading of his will. Nicole asks why it’s all torn up. Hope answers – I don’t suppose you have any idea about that. Nicole plays the innocent – why would she ask if she knew. Bo states so you deny that you wanted to destroy anything that proved you were married to Robbins. Nicole says no then yes – she didn’t want people to know they were married. She didn’t even know they were married – she thought they were divorced until Trent showed up in Salem. Bo – and then you murdered him. EJ states – unless you plan on formerly charging my client … Bo stops him – when they want his input they’ll let him know. Nicole smugly tells them the document doesn’t prove anything. Hope asks her if she is saying she is not responsible for the condition it’s in. (It’s torn into pieces). Nicole hasn’t touched it since she signed it. Bo wants to know why her fingerprints are all over it. Nicole sarcastically answered that they must have worn gloves when they signed their marriage certificate. Hope informs Nicole that the lab can tell recent prints from ancient ones – that wipes the smug look off Nicole’s face.
EJ thinks that’s enough insinuation for one night. Bo says they are questioning a suspect. EJ thinks they’re jumping from a torn piece of paper to murder – he doesn’t get how they are connecting the dots on that one. Hope suggests to Nicole that she should get her lawyer to back off. EJ threatens Hope that if she continues to talk to his client like that she better be prepared to pay the price. Hope states that they just want some straight answers. EJ claims that Nicole told them she had nothing to do with the murder – if they consider that to be evasive … Bo says – it depends on who it’s coming from. Nicole tells them to stop – she’ll tell them everything. EJ tries to stop her but to avail. Nicole says she argued with Trent – she tore up the marriage certificate but that proves nothing. She orders them to get out of her house. Bo asks – don’t you mean Stefano’s house? Hope says hold on – she’s right Brady. The marriage certificate is just circumstantial; incriminating but hardly a smoking gun. Bo says true but then there’s this – he pulls out another evidence bag. Bo asks Nicole if she’d like him to read this. EJ thinks this is preposterous. They come in and prattle on about these new pieces of evidence – these suspects they have – where will it end. Bo states – when they find the killer. EJ says speaking of that – who was the first person you arrested. It was your mother and then his brother Max and then Melanie and now they’re after Nicole. EJ thinks this is just an excuse for them to have a snoop around the DiMera house. Nicole starts talking about how the Salem PD should be concerned about the mayor’s murder. No wonder it’s unsolved – they’re too busy harassing everyone in Salem about a guy no one even misses. Bo tells her she doesn’t need to worry about them wasting their resources on this murder. Hope says we’re down to one suspect and she’s not a DiMera. Bo adds – and after this I don’t think she’ll have an opportunity to become one. EJ thinks this is absurd. Hope says that’s because you don’t know the history. She’s tried to kill her former lovers before – Victor Kiriakis, Colin Murphy – those are the ones they know about. Bo says and now she’s moved on to another wealthy man – isn’t that a surprise. He tells Elvis to watch his back if he wants to live to tell the story. Nicole tells Bo to shut up. Bo says right – enough prattling on. In her statement she says she did not kill Robbins – that she’s innocent. Is that her story? Nicole claims it’s not a story – it’s the truth. Bo holds up the evidence bag – this was found in the envelope along with her marriage licence. In the words of her dead husband ‘If I happen to turn up dead or missing you will know that my dear wife has finally acted on all her threats’.
EJ claims the note proves nothing. Bo says it does indicate that she threatened the victim. Hope asks if she did or did not confront Trent in the cemetery the night he was murdered. Nicole says no I did not. EJ thinks she has said enough already. Bo pulls out a search warrant – now they have probable cause – they’ll take a look around the premises. Bo and Hope are wearing gloves going through Nicole’s closet. She tells them to get their greasy hands off her dress. It cost more than they make in a year. Nicole asks EJ if he can please make them go away. EJ tells her they have to comply with the warrant however if there’s nothing for them to find they’ll be on their way. Bo comes out ands says it turns out we will be on our merry way and you’ll be coming with us. Hope is holding a dress – pretty. Its Nicole’s favourite. Hope mentions that it’s missing a bead. Nicole sarcastically says – observant. Hope says no lucky me for finding the dress with the missing bead since a matching one was found by CSI in the cemetery. Nicole has a flashback to trying to get the marriage certificate from Trent. (They’re in front of the Brady pub). Nicole wants to know what he wants from her – her money. Thanks to him she won’t have any. Nicole wants him to let her out of this marriage or she swears she will find a way – she will kill him. Trent hands her the marriage certificate – she rips it up and throws it to the ground. Nicole says fine – I argued with Trent and I even threatened the bastard but I didn’t kill him – she turns to EJ – you believe me, don’t you? Nicole says she only followed Trent to the cemetery because she realized she shouldn’t have torn up the certificate and left him to pick up all the pieces. EJ tells her not to say anything. Bo starts the ‘you have the right to remain silent’ … Nicole recalls confronting Trent in the cemetery – Trent grabs her from behind – she struggles. Nicole asks – what happens now. Bo reminds her she’s been through this before – has she forgotten. EJ says she’s pregnant detective. Bo says sadly it looks like that baby will be born in prison.
Hospital: Kate is painting her nails while Daniel checks her IV. He tells her it will be another half hour or so – he leaves to do his rounds. Outside her room Lucas and Chloe approach him. Lucas wants to talk to him – he wants some straight answers about his mother. He wants the truth – what are her odds on beating this. Lucas talks about the research he’s done – he’s read the statistics – with the type of lung cancer she has what can they realistically expect. Daniel gives him all the platitudes – everyone is different – there are always breakthroughs in new drugs and treatments etc. Lucas knows all that – he’s not an idiot. With her illness – is it going to advance? Daniel says he just told him – Lucas interrupts- he didn’t tell him anything. He wants the truth. He thinks he has a right to know. Is she going to make it? Is she going to be cured. Daniel – honestly Lucas, the odds aren’t good. Daniel gives Lucas a stack of books and research articles. Lucas asks if he is going to share all this with his mom. Daniel already has. It’s her body, her life – she wants to know what she’s up against. She’s elected an aggressive treatment protocol – it’s going to be tough but it’s her best chance of surviving. Lucas thanks him. After Daniel leaves Lucas goes in to see Kate. Kate puts on her happy face and talks about this being a mini vacation. Lucas tells her that she doesn’t have to prove to him how strong she is – he was there when she pulled herself up from nothing. He doesn’t want her using energy to put on a show – he wants her to use it to fight. If anyone knows she can do it; it’s him.
After his visit Lucas asks Chloe for a favour – go in and talk to his mom as someone that has been in a similar circumstance. Chloe reminds him that she’s not exactly Kate’s favourite person but she’ll do it. Chloe goes to see Kate – she came to see how she’s doing. Kate tells Chloe that she knows that she feels she has to do this for Lucas but do them both a favour and get out. Chloe says if being angry at her gives her something to focus on – go for it. Kate doesn’t want Chloe to condescend to her. Chloe says that Lucas asked her to come in here and she did it because she cares for him and she knows how much Kate means to Lucas. Kate apologises. Her kids mean everything to her and she thinks this illness is going to be the hardest on Lucas. She thinks that maybe they should call a temporary truce. That doesn’t mean she has forgiven Chloe for hurting Philip – she still doesn’t like her. Chloe understands – this isn’t about her – it’s about Kate getting better – that’s all she wants. Kate thanks her. Chloe says breaking up me and Lucas would be good motivation for getting well. She goes out of the room – she’s not feeling so great. Daniel asks if she is alright. Chloe says it was just seeing Kate in there – watching the chemo drugs dripping – the smells – she talks about beating leukemia. Her baby sister saved her – bone marrow transplant. Dan had no idea she was a cancer survivor. Chloe is fine now but she still takes anti-rejection drugs. She still feels like she is on borrowed time. Lucas comes back with the magazines he went to buy for Kate. They have to get home to take Allie trick or treating – they’ll take pictures for Kate. He’s going to go in and say goodbye – Dan says she needs her rest. He takes the magazines in for Lucas. He notices the drugs are almost done – she can get out of there tomorrow.
Java Café: Theo and Lexie return. Theo gives Abe a big hug. Lexie tells Abe that this time Theo wanted to come and help his daddy out. The reporter shows up and introduces herself – Mona Roy. She crouches down and sticks out her hand – pleased to meet you Theo. Theo hangs on to Lexie but then he hugs the reporter. Abe and Lexie settle Theo down and give him his video game to play. Mona is surprised at how affectionate Theo is – her research showed that most autistic children … Lexie tells her that there really is no such thing as ‘most autistic children’ – they’re all different. Mona agrees and talks about how strong-willed her daughter is. She spent all this time apologising for her behaviour until she realised that her tenaciousness was a good quality as well as having its downside. Lexie hopes that is what Mona will convey in her article – that autism is a part of who Theo is but it doesn’t define him. Abe tells Mona he wants to set up a pilot program that encourages volunteerism – get seniors and students involved. Mona has some questions for Lexie – she mentions that Lexie is wife, mother, doctor and possible first lady of Salem – how does she do it all. Lexie answers truthfully – sometimes she doesn’t know if she can. There was a time when she thought she could do everything now she knows better. Mona says that’s true for all of them. Lexie says it’s overwhelming at times – most times. Mona thinks that is true for all women and men. Off the record she thinks it’s very important that Salem has a mayor that understands what the average family goes through. Abe says that is what they are – an average family. Lexie talks about Theo and all the plans they had when they conceived – you have hopes and dreams but it never goes as planned. Lexie gives an analogy that it ends it’s a wonderful place in its own right but not what they had signed up for. Theo gets excited – he beat the high score. Mona would like to ask Theo some questions. She’s asks him what his favourite food is. Theo gets off his chair and starts turning around in circles. Lexie tells Mona that Theo has some food aversions – that is what is upsetting him. Lexie tells Theo that she’s going to take him home. Mona thinks it’s going to be a terrific article.
Preview: Stephanie to Philip – I just wish that Melanie would get the hell out of Salem and if she doesn’t I don’t see how me and Max can work things out. Melanie to Max – It’s kind of nice having someone look after me. Max – Is that what big brothers are for? Sami trying to wake up Hilda as she watches someone try the doorknob – Hilda, Hilda …
*********************************
Friday Oct 31
Kiriakis mansion: Stephanie joins Philip on the terrace – he comments on her lack of a Halloween costume. She’s dressed as someone whose boyfriend dumped her – it doesn’t get any scarier than that. Philip deduces that she needs a friend. He’s glad to have the company. Stephanie tells him that Max is still upset with her for betraying him. What if she’s lost him forever? Philip thinks Max would be a fool to let her go. Stephanie feels like her heart is breaking – it physically hurts at times. She keeps going over and over what he said, what she said. She was so upset that he made her look like a liar in front of Bo and Hope – she thought he would apologise but he never did. She let her anger get the best of her – she should have stayed and talked things over. Philip tells her she can still do that. Stephanie wonders if Max wants to get back together – he hasn’t called. She normally doesn’t mind confronting situations head-on but this time she’s afraid because of Melanie. Max barely knows her but if he has to choose sides he always chooses her and that won’t change even if they get back together. She loves Max but she wishes Melanie would get the hell out of Salem and if she doesn’t she doesn’t see her and Max working things out. Philip doesn’t think that what is going on between her and Max is entirely Melanie’s fault. Stephanie asks Philip if he’s defending Melanie.
That little brat has him fooled too. Philip claims that’s not true. He knows how Melanie operates – he just meant that when it comes to her and Max Melanie is a schemer but she can’t blame everything on her. He thinks Melanie is fairly harmless – all bark no bite. Stephanie disagrees – behind that bark is a bitch with major bite – she has no conscious, no morals. Philip says – you don’t really think she killed her father. Stephanie thinks Melanie is a lot craftier than they think – she thinks she’s capable of anything. Philip says there’s a lot of difference between a troublemaker and a cold blooded killer. He thinks Melanie is a spoiled young woman acting out. Stephanie can hear in his voice that he’s totally into Melanie. Philip admits that he is interested in her. He means that he finds her interesting. He thinks she’s just acting out of fear. Stephanie feels that is exactly what Melanie wants them to think. Philip asks her if she doesn’t trust his judgement. He brings up the ruthless people he deals with in business – while Melanie is complicated he thinks she is just a young woman hiding her insecurities. Stephanie says he is as deluded as Max. Philip gets a call from Victor. He tells Stephanie that his father just got off the phone with the DA’s office. The charges against Caroline have been dropped. They arrested someone else – Nicole Walker. Stephanie was so sure that it was Melanie.
Brady pub – Part 1: Melanie tells Max that Bo and Hope tried to set her up today. She tells him about the letter the lawyer gave her – they knew about it and they wanted to see if she would hand it over to them. She claims she was going to do just that. Whatever was on that letter cleared her – she’s no longer the prime suspect. Melanie asks about the box – Bo took it after he left. Max says Bo can keep it – he doesn’t want it. He wants to forget that he ever met Trent and that the last few months ever happened. Melanie asks if he’s saying that he wants to forget that he met her. Does he hate her that much? He doesn’t hate her. He’s glad he found her but she has put him through hell. Things are complicated – he needs a little space right now. Melanie says you blame me for your break-up with Stephanie. Max thinks she would have saved everyone a lot of trouble if she had been truthful from the start. He knows she’s been through a lot but that doesn’t excuse her lies and manipulations. She didn’t mean to hurt him. He sees her suitcase – is she moving back in. No – she’s going to get a job and save up to buy a place of her own. Nick comes up – she has a place already. She can move in with him. Max doesn’t think that it’s appropriate. Nick says it’s not going to be just the two of them – it’s going to be at Aunt Maggie’s and Uncle Mickey’s.
Police Station: Nicole keeps insisting she’s innocent. Bo reminds her of her right to stay silent. Nicole tells them they can take their Miranda Rights and shove them … Hope tells her to stop – she’s in enough trouble already. Nicole knows what they’re doing – they’re trying to scare her into confessing. Alright – she will confess that she never liked either one of them. Hope strongly suggests that she keep her mouth shut without her attorney present. Bo says yeah – where is he? Maybe he wised up and decided you were more trouble than you were worth. Nicole informs them that EJ wouldn’t abandon the mother of his child – he’s probably arranging for her release right now. Bo thinks that even a DiMera couldn’t pull enough strings to get her out of this mess. Nicole sarcastically tells them their case is weaker than a wine cooler. Bo and Hope list her motive and the evidence they have against her plus Trent’s letter. Nicole thinks that if they weren’t amateurs they might have noticed that the man was trying to frame her. Bo says that she has no credibility. She’s done nothing but lie to them so she might as well get used to the fact that she’ll be cooling her spiked heels in prison for a long time. Nicole informs them that they are wrong. EJ would never allow the mother of his child to be locked away with dangerous criminals. EJ comes in – she may be wrong. He may not have any choice.
Bo and Hope leave them alone to talk. EJ just got off the phone with the DA’s office and considering her priors things are not looking positive. Nicole claims she has no priors – she wasn’t convicted of anything. EJ says its common knowledge that she shot Colin Murphy the night of her wedding to Victor and there are all these pesky rumours that she tried to kill Victor. Nicole says they’re both alive – so no harm, no foul. EJ says she may think that but the DA thinks she has a rather disturbing history when it comes to the men in her life. Nicole wants him to vouch for her – they’re involved – she hasn’t tried to hurt him. EJ says – not yet. In the outer office Bo tells Hope that the DA told him that pending Nicole’s arraignment all charges against Ma will be dropped. He’s going to the pub to tell her in person. EJ tells Nicole the police have very strong evidence against her. He wants her to start at the beginning and tell him everything that happens. Nicole tells him about meeting up with Trent outside the pub the day before his death and that she followed him to the cemetery the next night. They argued again – when she left Trent was alive. EJ wants to know why she didn’t tell him this before. There was nothing to tell – there wasn’t a problem. She says you don’t believe me, do you? You think I killed Trent.
EJ informs her it doesn’t matter what he thinks his job is to keep her out of jail. Nicole gets all indignant – she’s the mother of his child if he doesn’t trust her what the hell do they have. EJ wants to know why he should trust her – she doesn’t trust him. If she did she would have told him that Trent was harassing her. She thought she could handle it herself. EJ sarcastically replies – job well done – now you and my unborn child could go to jail. Nicole claims this is all a mistake – she’s innocent. EJ wants to know why she didn’t tell him about the confrontation with Trent then – they could have been prepared. Nicole didn’t know it would come to this. EJ yells – she should have thought ahead. She’s carrying his child – this is no longer about her. Every single decision she makes affects the three of them. Nicole apologises – she’ll definitely consider all three of them in the future. EJ gets a call that he has to take. He goes out, Hope comes in. Nicole wants to know how long she has to stay there. Hope informs her that once she is finished with her attorney she will be taken to booking and then it’s off to a nice cozy cell until her arraignment. Nicole says you can’t be serious, I’m pregnant. Hope knows – she only mentions it every three minutes. Nicole says from one mother to another can you help me. There has to be some kind of arrangement for women who are about to give both. Hope points out that Nicole is a long way from delivering and no there is no maternity wing. Nicole thinks that is barbaric – she’s in a very delicate condition. Hope thinks she should have thought of that before killing a man in cold blood.
Nicole asks her how she could be so heartless. Hope – I didn’t take a man’s life, you did. Nicole raises her voice – they can’t put her in a cell with hardened criminals – what about her baby’s safety. EJ hears this and tells Hope that Nicole is not going to jail. She has to be in a stress free environment with her feet up and not on any work detail. Hope says that Nicole will be fine. She can sit and stand as much as she wants – not much else to do in an 8x8 cell. Hope will do whatever she can to make sure no harm comes to her or the baby. She leaves – EJ follows. He asks if there is any update on Sami – any progress in catching the mayor’s killer. Hope can’t comment on that case. Nicole is listening to their conversation. She starts in on him about his concern for Sami – does he even care about her and her child. He’s putting Sami before her and her baby. EJ blows up – he yells at her to grow up. He’s concerned about her and he’s also concerned about Samantha and he’s not going to apologise for that. Nicole pouts – she’s the one that needs help right now – Sami has a team of highly trained professionals looking after her. EJ says yes and you know why she does. Because she was almost shot dead right in front of him. He saw the red light on her head – for a second he thought he was going to lose Johnny’s mother so don’t flip out every time he mentions her name. Samantha is always going to be a part of his life and if she can’t accept that they have nothing in common except that child – got that. Nicole doesn’t think he can mean that – they talked about having it all together. This baby is supposed to be the beginning of a new life for them. EJ still wants that but it’s not going to happen unless she accepts that Samantha is going to be part of his life because he’s not going to play slave to her insecurities anymore. Nicole makes a smart remark. EJ tells her if she wants to sabotage her own life – go ahead but his son or daughter is not going to be born in prison. Whatever happens to her after that the courts can decide. He walks out. She screams that he can’t leave her in there and tries to follow him – a cop stops her. Nicole cries – she swears she didn’t kill Trent – it was someone else.
Safe house: Sami listens to Hilda snoring – she didn’t think it was possible but Hilda is just as annoying asleep as she is awake. She pushes Hilda up looking for a remote hoping the sound of a scary movie will drown out the snoring. The doorbell rings. She thinks it’s more trick or treaters – she starts looking for something to get them as the camera cuts to the man outside the door. She finds some raisins and is about to open the door when she notices the knob turning. She panics and tries to wake up Hilda. The guy starts picking the lock – Sami tries to find Hilda’s gun. She dives behind the couch when the door opens. The guy says come out with your hands in the air. He yells stand up – now. Sami does and says please don’t kill me. He tells her to turn around – she’s Samantha Brady. He recognises her from her picture. Sami asks him who he is. He pulls out his badge – agent Rafe Hernandez FBI. Sami is relieved – she thought he was a gunman. He thought the place was compromised. He was bringing over mug shots for her to look at and Hilda didn’t answer her phone. He sees her on the couch – Sami tells him she fell asleep watching TV. He picks up Hilda’s cell phone – it’s on vibrate – that’s against protocol. Sami says it’s her fault – Hilda told her she was an insomniac – she thought she needed her sleep. Rafe tries to wake Hilda up – she’s out cold. He checks her eyes – she’s been drugged. He wants to know what happened before she passed out – did she eat or drink anything. Sami tells him Hilda had more than one nightcap – maybe it’s the alcohol. Rafe doesn’t smell any alcohol. He tries to revive her. He picks up her cup noticing there is residue on the bottom. He tastes it – Wow – he looks at Sami – you have a lot of explaining to do.
Sami admits to putting some sleeping pills in Hilda’s tea. She was driving her crazy. She was mean, rude and she wouldn’t shut up and she was invading her space. Rafe asks her if she’s stupid. She’s in the witness protection program not a damn sorority. Hilda’s job is to keep her safe not be her best friend. Not only did she put her own life at risk she put Hilda’s at risk. Sami claims it was just a harmless prank. Rafe doesn’t think so – if he had been the killer she would be dead now. Sami tells him to stop lecturing her – she’s the victim here. Rafe thinks Hilda may disagree with that. Hilda starts waking up. Rafe has this feeling that by the time Hilda is through with her Sami is going to wish he had been the killer. Rafe goes to Hilda. She asks him what happened – the tea really knocked her out. She thinks she was drugged. She looks at Sami and growls ‘you’. LMAO at the ‘I told you so’ look Rafe gives Sami. Hilda asks Sami what kind of a dimwit is she – what’s wrong with her – did she wanted to get herself killed. Sami just wanted some peace and quiet. Hilda claims that she’s protected some of the most notorious underhanded snitches but she thinks Sami tops them all – she needs to be taught a lesson. Sami looks at Rafe – help. He mouths the word ‘apologise’. Sami tells Hilda she’s sorry. That isn’t enough for Hilda – she quits. Rafe tries to stop her but Hilda doesn’t care if she’s put on desk duty for the rest of her life but she’s not spending another minute with this spoiled brat. She grabs her stuff and leaves. Rafe tells Sami she should have begged her to stay. Sami says are you kidding – now maybe they’ll send someone professional – she was so annoying. Rafe says you drugged her tea! Sami claims she had to – if she would have had to listen to her talk anymore her head was going to explode. Rafe says like mine’s doing now. All Sami is asking for is a professional. Rafe thinks she’ll be lucky if they send her a Rottweiler. Sami likes dogs. Rafe is going to call Commander Brady and tell him what happened. Sami was hoping her dad wouldn’t find out about this – she doesn’t want him to get upset. Rafe won’t call him but he has to call Command and report that Hilda resigned. He tells her that they’ll probably send someone outside the Salem PD talent pool. This person will be savvy and see right through her games. Sami thinks he could be a little more sympathetic. She came face to face with a hit man. Rafe gets the feeling it was an even match. Sami goes on to say that because she’s in the program she doesn’t get to see her family – she’s been taken away from children. Rafe – with all due respect I feel less sorry for you than I do the poor schmoo that has to babysit you. Rafe is on the phone talking to his superior – you can’t be serious – yes sir. Okay then. He tells Sami that he’s the replacement.
Brady pub – Part 2: Melanie wants to talk to Max before making a decision. Nick pulls a bottle of pills out of his pocket and takes one. Max tells Melanie as long as it’s platonic – he doesn’t want her rushing into anything. Melanie thinks it’s kind of nice having someone look after her. Bo comes in – he’s glad they’re there. Melanie starts with her sarcastic comments – Bo whistles to stop her. He has some news – he may have arrested her father’s killer. Nicole Walker – based on the evidence they have a strong case against her – strong enough to get the charges against Ma dropped. Max is happy for Ma. Bo says no hard feelings to Melanie. She asks if he’s trying to save his butt. Bo says no. Melanie is going to have her attorney file harassment charges against him and Hope and the entire Salem PD. Bo says they were just doing their jobs. Melanie claims that ever since her father was murdered they treated her like dirt – they tried to pin a crime she didn’t commit on her. Bo tells her they had plenty of reason to suspect her especially after she started sneaking around planting evidence on innocent people. If his case on Nicole wasn’t so strong he’d definitely be looking at her as a possible killer. Max says ‘Bo’. Bo tells him to open his eyes – his little sister has a mean streak and if it wasn’t for her lies and manipulations he’d still be with Stephanie. Melanie asks Nick if he’s sure this is okay – it is. She tells him she’ll be the perfect guest. She goes to talk to Max. She’s sorry about Stephanie – if he wants her to do anything to fix it just let her know. Max doesn’t think it can be fixed. Max is going to see Ma. Melanie and Nick are leaving when she realises she left her purse behind. Nick goes to get the car. Melanie sees a knife next to her purse. She picks up the knife – ‘you are a lucky little girl.’
Preview: EJ to Nicole – Did you do it? Did you kill Trent? Nick to Chelsea – Who the hell do you think you are Chelsea? Chelsea – Have you lost your mind? Nick – Get out. Dan to an unconscious Kate – We need you Kate. Your kids, Chelsea … me.
