Now this is one army I can join!

I've been growing out my short, thick bangs since November 2006. It's been quite a ride! They were at least two inches deep at the centre, so that was a lot of hair to grow out. My bangs are now about three inches below my chin. I guess that makes me a lieutenanant, and it won't be long before I'm a captain!

I literally had short bangs all my life, so this is a first for me.

Good for you--such great growth. I would love to see a pic. Two inches deep? Them's some thick bangs! I'm just down to my eyes now...wonder if it's true that bangs grow faster than the rest of our hair. Hmm...

Thanks!

Debbie, if bangs grow faster than the rest of the hair, it certainly doesn't seem like it! However, we just soldier on, and the next thing you know, the bangs are no longer truly bangs.

Yes, I had thick bangs. With my fine hair, it was the only way to keep them laying down and not just flying away. Having said that, they were 2 inches deep only at the very centre. I used to part my hair in a v-shape to trim them.

Your bangs look much better behaved than mine, and I don't think your growing out process will be as painful as mine was from the looks of it.

I've had bangs since the day I was born, so this truly is liberation for me, as well as my forehead. I'll post some photos soon--today, I hope.

That makes sense

to have thicker bangs so they would lay down!

I'm like you, having had bangs from early on. I looked back at some photos in my childhood albums, and it appears my mom may have been attempting to grow out my bangs when I was around age 9...but that didn't last long.

My bangs now, even though they're about to my eyes, have a natural wave to them, and I've found that my baby bangs (those along my hairline that never grow longer than about 2 inches) are trainable. So I'm sweeping my bangs off to the sides, and I think it gives me an idea of what it'll be like when they're longer. I think I'm actually becoming comfortable seeing my forehead!

I'll be looking for your pics. I'm always interested to see the change from bangs to no bangs! Someday when mine are longer I'll take another photo...

Hi!

February 27 2008, 8:53 AM

Good luck with the continued bangs growth! Mine are now to my collarbone so finally they are not getting in the way anymore. I just found your hair site and I love it! I have fine hair too but mine has a little wave to it so even when I trim, the ends never are straight across unless my hair is blown straight or what ever, but if it's just left to air-dry it's wavy and looks uneven, arghhhhh.
You have beautiful hair, and I look forward to more updates.

Wow, collarbone!

Sounds like you could tuck them behind your ears with ease. So liberating. Do you have pics of before and after?

Hmm, don't know why

my first post didn't show up. Here goes; my bangs still need about another inch or so before I can tuck them in my bun or ponytail. Right now I still have to pin them back or they'll flop all over the place, lol.
