Starting pics!

Since my bangs are still short I thought I might as well do some "before" shots. These could also be interesting for those of you that are suffering from acne because when I was 18, I ha ba,bad acnethat also left tiny scars. By now, I'm 33, and only today I realised that even the last, tiniest scars have disappeared and my skin is nearly flawless. (It probably has been for years, but this morning I thought about it for the first time.) So those of you that are still suffering, don't give up hope, and no matter how bad your skin may look today, ther is hope that one day soon it will all clear.

I don't really like a middle part on myself, so I'll have to come up with something else soon, I think. Also, sorry I'm wearing those old glasses.

I haven't been liking my hair shade at all these days. My hair has been getting somewhat paler and duller than it used to be - I hope it's only the lack of sunlight.

Great start pic! Your skin looks lovely to me, and such rosy cheeks! I'm envious! I'm growing my bangs out too, so if you come up with a good alternative for the "parted down the middle" style, let me know!

Thanks,
Sara

CO washing most days, shampoo 1 or 2 times a week. Detangler as needed. Deep condition about once a week with jojoba in summer, coconut oil in winter. Exfoliate scalp with sugar mixed into cheap conditioner approximately every other month. NO hair dryers, curling irons or other heat styling ever applied to hair.

23/27.5/terminal length (hopefully at least to tailbone!)

My hair right about the time I started

SarahairAug08.jpg Aug 6 2008, even with 1/4" trims every 8 weeks I still grew this much! No I didn't bleach it again, the dye I put in months ago to try to get the bleached parts to match the roots better washed out after a few weeks and I decided it would be better to just stop dyeing and deal with 2 tone hair. happy.gif

November 2008 since I started using cassia. Not much growth since August but I Love the shine I'm getting from the Cassia and it seems to really be protecting my ends

Thanks everybody for your help!

I just tried something, Sara.

January 27 2009, 12:54 PM

I left the middle part in, but took the right side and claw-clipped it to the left. Then I changed the part of my length to a part on the very right, creating one line. Oh man, this is hard to explain... I'll just post a pic for you tomorrow. But I like how it looks - much better than the middle part and almost like the bangs were already gone!

By the way, I posted two pics in this thread. Where did the second one go? [linked image]

Goldberry...way to grow!

January 27 2009, 2:20 PM

I am growing out my bangs, too (again). They're just down to almost the tip of my nose now. Why not try parting your hair on the right side? It's much easier for me to sweep my bangs to the side when my hair is parted on the side, though my bangs are curly and don't lay flat. I think you would look nice with side-swept bangs! happy.gif

Here's some information I found about parts at the end of the article "Dr. George Michael's Method of Long Hair Care" (on Longhairlovers.com). I am NOT saying you don't look good with a center part! happy.gif

PARTING THE HAIR

You probably part your hair on the left side or use a center part. We suggest that you part your hair on the right side. Hair follicles along the forehead grow from the left to the right. A right side part adds height and has your hair doing "push-ups". The middle part is definitely out. It puts additional stress on the weakest hairs on the top of the head, which results in hair thinning and the part spreading wider.

A center part forms a line that goes down the middle of the face, which accentuates the nose and any irregularities that exist between the left and the right side of the face. There are only a very, very few people in the entire world who literally look good with a center part.

I have to disagree with you: I DO look bad with a middle part! wink.gif

I came up with something yesterday (that claw-clip thing I tried and failed to describe above) which creates a sort of right part. I'm posting a picture later. Right now my bangs are still too short to "side-sweep" them because they won't stay behind my ears and I don't want to use a lot of styling products. But once they are long enough, I'll definitely go for a right part. I have a couple of "hooks" in my hairline, and a right-side part would probably hide them all. It also takes the emphasis of my square chin and would look les madonna-ish with my straight hair.

I like the George Michael theory about parting on the right. I also really like his promise that the bangs will grow faster than the rest. wink.gif

I think your hair is so pretty - I wish I had some waves. Oh, and I think I'll have to visit your blog! It looks like dh and I may possibly not have any kids of our own, but adoption is an option. This rhymes. LOL! I think it's so great you're adopting kids from Ukraine. My aunt's best friend has adopted twins from Ukraine. They were six years old when they came to Germany, and the first couple of months were really, really hard because the kids couldn't speak German yet and they were scared all the time that they would be separated. But this is now a couple of years ago, and they now speak German fluently without any accent and they are just plain wonderful children. Not only stunningly pretty (GORGEOUS thick, red, long hair), but also extremely polite and well-behaved/gentle, even though their new mom's way of raising them is more on the "laissez-faire" side. They are very popular among the other kids, too. So that adoption was definitely a big success. I'm hoping and praying that yours will be, too!

You are so sweet. Here I am, not liking my hair, and you like it. I like yours, but mine would never do what yours does. When it's straight, like after braids, it is wispy and thin and blecch! happy.gif

I would like to see progress pics while you're growing out your bangs. I am trying for the second or third time to grow mine out, and I hope I can do it this time. But I have "baby bangs" that don't grow to more than about 2 inches long, and I think they'll always be there. I don't know what they will do once my other bangs are grown out.

I'm excited that you might adopt, too! How neat that you know some children adopted from Ukraine. They sound like sweet girls. Please do visit my blog and e-mail me, if you like. I would enjoy talking with you some more. Auch, spreche ich ein bisschen deutsch...es macht spass! happy.gif
