"What is there stopping them from continuing to play? Honestly? This is a club team. Maybe they wouldn't be under the umbrella of the university at all but I doubt they would really miss the small amount of funding the university probably gave them if any at all. Just take the logos off the jerseys and move on right? Call the team the Ice Dogs of Western Illinois and run with it."
...That's not how it works. The ACHA is for clubs or varsity teams that are affiliated with the school they represent. If anything, good luck getting the school to properly release the eligibility transcripts required by the ACHA. I can see it now. "screw you club sports director, we will just play anyway. By the way, we still need proof of grades and transcripts for the league, thanks."
"That being said if there was a cleaning fee, either the coach got tanked and vomited on something or the entire team was going to town and trashed the bus. I don't believe that simple story for a second. "
You can not believe it all day long by the fact is leaving just one beer can on a bus can be a HUGE problem, at least in Illinois. When you reserve a bus there are two different "licenses" for the trip. One is no alcohol and one is with alcohol. There are rules and provisions depending on with route you go. So if they had a beer can on the bus and the cleaning crew found it they are required to alert the people upstairs at the bus company. They then issue the fee. It is more about having the beer than the cleaning part. I hope this clarifies things for you. If not ask away and I will see if I can answer. Basically if you want to be treated like adults then you have to act like adults.
This forum has been created with the purpose to constructively discuss college club hockey. We encourage you to freely discuss any topic you wish, with the caveat that you keep the discourse within the bounds of good taste. While good natured trash-talking is fun, thought provoking and acceptable, any replies that turn personal, disrespectful and/or disruptive of the intent of this forum will be deleted by the moderators of this forum.
Our intent is to build up and promote college club hockey and its teams. We need to work together and support each other to make this happen. We already have enough critics of club hockey. Let's do our best to keep things amiable on this forum, as not to give them any ammunition.
Best of luck to ALL teams!
