ISU has played 21 games with just two losses. They lead the Central Region in points, goals per game, and are top five in GAA. They play a fifth line against the weaker teams to keep the score down. They went from 1 - 23 in 2004, to 10 - 15 - 2 in 2005, to 16 - 2 - 3 currently. Who else has risen like that over three years? What are the ACHA standings for if a team can dominate like that and go unranked? It is O.K. to recognize that there is a new team in town who is ready to join the good ole boys club. They asked for games against every MACHA Gold team and were turned down by all of them except Marquette. They should stay in the top ten until someone can actually beat them a few times.

McK should be ranked as high if not higher than ISU, they not only split with you, but swept EIU a Gold division opponent. Isnt McK in first in Silver as well? I dont think a team should be dogged for winning games, which ISU has proved they can with 15, a win is a win no matter who you play in my book. But you tied a MSU White team that SIUE silver beat 4-3, lost to McK and Western, who is on the bottom of the Silver Division Standings. The Goals For stat is great, but keep in mind youve played the most games out of anyone also, so i wouldnt boast about that yet until other teams accumulate their games. There are still 3 rankings periods left, and should you finish strong against your conference, you can only be rewarded for that. Keep up the good work.

ISU, here are the facts...you have played no one strong on a consistent basis. If they wouldn't schedule you, sorry. But, you have played just a few "decent teams" and your record again't them isn't so good. Yes, you deserve credit for a great record. But, there is a difference between credit for a great record and worthy of being ranked for a great record. You have tied Palmer, split with Western, split with McKendree and tied to MSU JV, giving up NINE goals. It is unfortunate, but, that alone would require me to leave you out of the rankings if I were on the committee. I have not seen one win on the record that really stands out as saying "hey, this is for sure a top ten team." I would love to be corrected since it is such a great record. Just my thoughts.

Thanks for keeping Missouri State in the top 10. They are a much better team than 9-8-1. Hopefully they will play 60 minutes of hockey soon. Can we clone Herb Brooks and have him come in for a crash coaching session? (No offense to coach Alexander.) I gotta believe the team is frustrated right about now.
Anyway, good take on the top 10.

Dude, you make some good points, however, McKendree has 6 losses in 17 games and they dropped two to Bradley. It seems you are only looking at the highlights. Neat thing is, neither ISU nor McKendree will go to regionals, but they will get to settle things in the MACHA Silver playoffs. So they will determine things on the ice, and we won't have to spend time over intellectualizing the whole thing. If they want to play with the big boys, they will have to step up to Gold next year.

What does McK losing two to Bradley have to do with the weak schedule of ISU? Still the fact is, they aren't playing a strong schedule and that is their downfall. All they can do is go out and win, which they are doing. Sometimes life isn't fair.

to casey's post above, those rankings are good...but not realistic. MACHA still isn't respected by the northern teams and majority of voters. So unless in Mizzou's, SIUE's and SMS's non-conference games they start beating the Michigan's, Cent. Mich. and GVSU, the best were gonna be ranked is 5th or 6th.

Hey WSR - so you think they're better than 9-8-1? I bet a whole lot of teams think they're better than their record may indicate, but it doesn't mean squat. It's how you perform on the ice and the score at the end of the game that counts. This team doesn't play defense very well, and they don't seem to be gelling on the power play - when you can't score consistently with a 5 on3 advantage, that's a problem. Too much individual play, not enough team play (not to mention the lack of a bonafide power play system). Perhaps Herb Brooks could help out - at least they'd be playing for MSU, not their own individual selves.

As for my friend Anonynomous.....you're saying what I've been saying. They are better than 9-8-1.... if they stop doing what you mentioned and started playing 60 minutes, which they are capable of playing. Ummm....does this mean we agree here??

Yes, we do agree. But I also realize there are other teams that are probably in the same boat. I just hope they get it together and peak at the right time - just in time for an end of the season run.

WSR for your leagues that correspond with teams in your rankings, i believe grand valley is is GMHL this year i think they left the gliha last year and now participate in gmhl, at least thats what it appeared to me. I could be wrong and im not attacking you by any means.

This forum has been created with the purpose to constructively discuss college club hockey. We encourage you to freely discuss any topic you wish, with the caveat that you keep the discourse within the bounds of good taste. While good natured trash-talking is fun, thought provoking and acceptable, any replies that turn personal, disrespectful and/or disruptive of the intent of this forum will be deleted by the moderators of this forum.
Our intent is to build up and promote college club hockey and its teams. We need to work together and support each other to make this happen. We already have enough critics of club hockey. Let's do our best to keep things amiable on this forum, as not to give them any ammunition.
Best of luck to ALL teams!
