I guess one of the Refs wasn't very nice to our coach.. I don't remember exactly what he said.. but he honestly didn't have a clue what he was doing anyway. I don't think he called very well.. He gave one of our boys a 10 for questioning a call lol, he also missed quite a few on both sides. The game wasnt really a gong show in my opinion.. nothing really happened.. tennessee was as close as we've come to a gong show this season..

I talked to the Silver goaltender and a defenseman who played in the Saturday game and they said that Soll, the ref, gave the Silver coach his whistle and told him to ref the rest of the game. The Silver coach blew the whistle at during play while they had a scoring opportunity and Soll threatened to kick him out of the game. Both players said it was the most unprofessional game they've ever been a part of. The other official apparently apologized for Soll's actions.

Yeah, I don't remember our coach getting a whistle from the ref but he did blow it saying that was his freebee because the other teams coach blew the whistle on us at one point. It was honestly some of the funniest **** I've ever seen. I've yet to see a good Ref since I started playing in this league. It didn't really effect the outcome of the game though, it was just sort of retarded.

Seems to me that USA Hockey, which certifies referees, should take more of a proactive approach to referees actions and their ability to reason when a game is played.
For example: The ACHA Playoff game's between SUIE and Missouri and Missouri State and Central Michigan....both games were allowed to be started when the ice was sopping wet! Several players had the puck stop sliding while trying to shoot.
I guess there was a rush to get the game played between the 2.5 hour time slot alloted. (There was no zam between warm-ups and the first period.) The zam driver poured way too much water on the ice. Only after it became obvious that there was too much water, was the game stopped for the ice to be set up.
In this instance, USA Hockey should dictate procedure in regards to the safe playing of a game, not a venues schedule. The referee should decide if a game could be played in accordance with safety guidelines, rink conditions, etc...and be backed up in their decisions.
In the case of the referees actions, USA Hockey should have each referee responsible for their own actions and have strict penalties for not enforcing the rules properly....or informing the league of their partners actions. USA Hockey should care about its image a bit more.
Perhaps this is the case, but like all incidents, you only hear about the bad ones.

I think everyone agress with what you said. But, there is a big problem in hockey right now and it is only going to get worse. Lack of adult, qualified officials. This is a problem and because of this these guys get away with too much. It could get worse with the NCAA possibly going to a four official system following next season. More chances for guys to move up and to dilute the available pool. I wish there was a solution to this problem first, then they could come down on some of these guys harder.

This forum has been created with the purpose to constructively discuss college club hockey. We encourage you to freely discuss any topic you wish, with the caveat that you keep the discourse within the bounds of good taste. While good natured trash-talking is fun, thought provoking and acceptable, any replies that turn personal, disrespectful and/or disruptive of the intent of this forum will be deleted by the moderators of this forum.
Our intent is to build up and promote college club hockey and its teams. We need to work together and support each other to make this happen. We already have enough critics of club hockey. Let's do our best to keep things amiable on this forum, as not to give them any ammunition.
Best of luck to ALL teams!
