ISU is going down there this weekend. My son (who will remain nameless) won't be playing due to injury but I thought I would go down and see some of the RMS parents from youth hockey days and watch the game Friday night anyway.
It sounds like some kids either left the team or won't be playing this weekend for an unknown reason. Do we know who won't be playing? No sense in going if they aren't playing either.
Thx.

What the hell is the deal? Do they have a team or not? There are so many rumors going around. If they folded or plan to fold before the end of the season it would be nice of them to contact the teams they are scheduled to play so that they can find a replacement team.

Got an email from a team representative that said the team is not folding.
They only had 19 players to begin the season.
1 started ineligible (he will be back and a new skater will be on the team for the second semester)
1 has family reasons and is not traveling
1 left the team
1 is suspended
2 are injured
That leaves 11 skaters and 2 goalies.
The folding rumors are probably because RMC announced they are adding a team in Peoria, so they're looking at bringing in about 35 skaters.

are they adding a team for sure? the have had no discussions with the rink in peoria. hello midnight start times, there is no ice for them. bradley and western get a choice of times first, this is after youth hockey and the jr. team.

Hey WSR can you point to any referance of the Peoria team being added? They hardly even have a campus in Peoria, it is just a couple rooms in a building downtown.

Yes I can. When I spoke to RMC-S's head coach about the RMC-S folding rumors I was informed that it's not true, and that they are adding a team in Peoria, and that may be where the rumors are stemming from. Will it be added this year? I don't know. Next year? Not sure. I didn't ask that.

Yes, then that I can agree with. They have approached Peoria's rink twice in the past two years. The last time being this past summer. They also would in fact have last priority on ice time, but would have a team. What does this mean? Well, they need to be ok with late game times and they need to hope there are more qualified refs in the area soon as there is already a bit of a shortage. I think they should strongly consider a women's team before a men's team though. I honestly feel they could actually get a much better buzz and even get a fan base for a women's team.

This forum has been created with the purpose to constructively discuss college club hockey. We encourage you to freely discuss any topic you wish, with the caveat that you keep the discourse within the bounds of good taste. While good natured trash-talking is fun, thought provoking and acceptable, any replies that turn personal, disrespectful and/or disruptive of the intent of this forum will be deleted by the moderators of this forum.
Our intent is to build up and promote college club hockey and its teams. We need to work together and support each other to make this happen. We already have enough critics of club hockey. Let's do our best to keep things amiable on this forum, as not to give them any ammunition.
Best of luck to ALL teams!
