Missouri State's JV team has a couple of games scheduled against a "Kansas JV" team. Can't find any information about Kansas having a JV team. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thx

The REAL story on Kansas..

I'm no WSR, but I can tell you a few things of what I know... The reason you probably can't find any information on Kansas's JV team is because their not an ACHA team.. atleast yet. They are pretty much a trial team seeing how it goes.. I don't think their doing very good from what I've seen. I know they were swept by Nebraska. MSU's JV team should have no problem with them. It is good see school like Kansas trying to expand their program though.

The real problem here is why Kansas's first team isn't in MACHA. They already play three Gold teams: MSU, Mizzou, and Iowa (which are three very tough teams in MACHA). I know for some teams Kansas is a far trip, but come on it can't be much farther than traveling to Missouri State or Mizzou. And I know Kansas wouldn't have traveling problems by looking at their schedule and seeing all the teams they play in Michigan and Minnesota.

Realistically, Kansas is an up and coming team that has been ranked in the last two rankings (#13), they have upset some teams like Ferris State, Swept Central Oklahoma D1, and tied a #7 ranked Minnesota twice. Kansas would strengthen our MACHA gold league, I mean hey the more ranked teams MACHA has the better we look. And their a class act, unlike some teams in our league. MACHA Gold needs to change with the times and embrace the up and coming teams around our area. Personally, I strongly believe we need to drop RMC-Springfield to silver and put Kansas in the Gold division.

Bottomline: Kansas needs to be apart of MACHA Gold next season!

I agree that Kansas should be placed into MACHA gold for next season. With teams like Eastern, NIU, and Robert Morris-Springfield having a tough year, we need a new team that adds competition to our league. They would also make playoffs more interesting as they would prolly be a lock for the top 6 every year leaving 1 spot for the weaker teams to fight for. Overall I think they would be beneficial to our league.

This is simply a travel/cost issue. At some point you have to say that you can't expand out any further. There are GREAT points against this. But this may simply be an enough is enough thing.

If NIU and Eastern drop what teams will be left in the gold division? Missouri State, Mizzou, SIUE, Iowa, and ISU will be all that is left. Not a far trip to Kansas for any of them. Marquette and McKendree look to be the only silver contenders in the hunt to make the jump to gold. So where does this leave us? If NIU and eastern drop then there will be no excuse not to let KU into the macha if they are willing.

NIU won't drop. And there is no reason to see them drop. If Marquette is able to move to Gold you would most likely make this move prior to bringing in a new team. You have to look at every memeber of the MACHA not just the Gold teams this season. A committee would be looking at the long run not just one season. Once again, there are GREAT arguments to be made either way. If there were no teams north of Bloomington or Peoria then Kansas would be a fit. Kansas has not been a very strong team prior to this season and we can't base letting a team into a league on the premise that they will not only fit from others dropping but also that they will always be at that level. Look at ISU, they went from a good team, to bad team, to no team, then starting again but being weak to now being a good team. Bradley in a matter of 7 years went from being one of the better Gold teams to a Silver team. They were good before, if the right guys attend the school the could be a Gold team again. Same with a team like Western. They have soom good hockey players attending that school that don't play on the team. If that changes, BAM, they are now a good team. This is not an easy decision. Now, one way it COULD work would be to not make a "northern team" travel to both Springfield, Mo and Kansas City in the same season. That would be a very strong way to completey take out that argument. If you take out that argument, and you want to strengthen this league, then bring them in. As it stands though, teams will move up and down from Gold every year. Stability of our league will be important to the decision makers in the end.

who cares...... if they want in let them in. traveling is apart of it, if they can make ends meet money wise there should be no reason why not. the missouri teams have to drive to chicago and farther up north why shouldnt teams have to travel down to the boondocks as some say to play.

Because some people do actually consider what it will cost a team to play all season. This is not a school sponsored sport for schools in this league (McKendree is different, but I am sure has a budget as well).
