What planet are you on Anonymous? The D2 teams do not have D1 players on their teams. Come back when you stop drinking. |

Not too bad Kich. And thanks for the kind words in other parts of the forum.
Well, technically we got every team (not necessairly in order) in the top 10. I did have Lindenwood #10 in my separate poll, but our combined poll droped them from the final list.

I don't know anonymous, maybe because lindenwood was scolded for swinging too many players. not enough to be in trouble, but swinging too many players nonetheless. now their roster is set in stone for the remainder of the year.
the top 5 is entirely accurate. after that is merely shambles. I hope playoffs and games to come will help with all the confusion. but i repeat, this is an absolute joke.
-don't worry about it |

This Lindenwood D1 - D2 conversation is interesting but confusing. I know for a fact in the past Lindenwood did swing their D1 players down. I was told they could play 8 games or something like that. If that is still true not sure how they could be "scolded" for doing that, whatever scolded means.
Anyway, I went to Lindenwood's website and looked at the results for about half of their games (I don't have too much time on my hands!) and could find no statistics (points or penalty minutes) that were attributed to a D1 player?
The D2 team has 30 players rostered, I would think playing D1 players and sitting even more of the D2 players would not go over well.
Does anyone know the actual story, I'm thinking if they were actually playing their D1 players they should show up on the score sheet. (Maybe I looked at the half of games where they didn't play?)

MSU varsity just locked two kids on the varsity roster who haven't played there all year so they can sit in the stands down the stretch?
I'm sure the organziation can rationalize this (insurance, just in case,...) but it sure appears to be a really selfish move. One would think it would be pretty tough to rationalize taking the silver team's #1 goalie and a second line forward who in all likilihood will not play again after this weekend for insurance.
The good news is that the JV team is really deep and just got a terrific goalie back from illness. They still have 3 really good lines and this selfish move shouldn't damage their hopes for a title too badly. I think the bigger story is that you won't continue to draw kids to a program where there is such a caste system in place.
Maybe I'm over-reacting here, Kich your Gold team has fewer players on your roster than MSU's gold team. Did you take anybody from your silver team and lock them up for "insurance" at the deadline? I have a lot of respect for Larry so if he did it too I'll just have to admit that I'm just not understanding the gold/silver concept very well. |

I think that the Gold/Silver system is really up to the Gold coach as they go about utilizing the system. I'm not gonna speak for Coach Thatcher or Cloin about this year, as I dont know what they have in store for the last bunch of games, but in the past our Silver squad has been a mix between being a breeding ground for future Gold players and a team where guys can play because they love playing. I know our Silver team has always played everyone with equal playing time, and you had to earn your spot on special teams.
I spent my first 2 years as mainly our Silver goalie, to develop from high school to a faster game and see about 60-70 shots a game. Some people left, pursuing a garage band career (not kidding) and that put me where I am now.
Last year we brought up Ryan McTigue, Joel Kruse, and Aaron Loehr for the last week of the season against Northern Michigan (McTigue got a hat trick), and for both regional and conference playoffs. They didnt just take up space on the bench, they played pretty pivotal roles in their 7-10 mins of ice time per game. We have only brought one player up this year for one game, Jon Davis, because we had a sick Defenseman against RMC-Springfield. He played well and recorded an assist in his playing time.
So I guess if we bring people up this season, they are up to play a role, not so much for insurance. This is also the first year that both teams will make the playoffs, so that may play a role as well.

i wish one of these teams from the WCCHA(St.Thomas, Minnesota, etc.) would play games outside of their division....or at least someone worthy, not Dordt College(D3). Most likely one of these teams will somehow end up going to regionals when there are a handful of other MACHA Gold teams that would be more worthy (SIUE, Mizzou, Iowa, and ISU). Hopefully it will work out by itself and the lowest team will win their league playoffs. |

Some of the voters don't take the time or expend the energy to analyze the teams and submit realistic rankings. Kitch and the web sports guys put a heck of a lot more thought into their pre-poll lists that some of these guys do for the real thing.
If you don't have the time or are to lazy to look at the teams you are to rank then step down and let somebody else do it. |

To clear up all your guys minds, lindenwood does not swing down D1 players. The d2 team is used to feed players up to d1.D1 has lost around 8-10 guys due to grades, transfers, and whatever else. There have been 3 guys that were on d2 that have gone up to play on the d1 team. They have to dress 6 games in order to be locked in for d1. And there is only 1 player that moved up that is going to stay up on d1 the rest of the year. So that is what the real truth is by the way this weekend they beat FGCU without those other 3 players if u were wondering. I hope this clears everything up..... |

The six game rule sounds like a really good idea to bad it's not a rule with gold/silver rosters. So what was the score of the second game in Florida? | |
