I think every person on this forum is surprised at the result of the MU/GVSU game.
You guys did a great job against them. Sounds a lot like the game at JVIP (except for the 49 seconds).

I may be incorrect, but i think that there are 2 leagues in the central region. If so, only 2 macha teams are in the top ten and there's 8 from the other league?
I think that siue and mizzou just proved that the top macha teams can play with the top teams from the other league, so why so unbalanced in the rankings? if so, AT LEAST the top three teams from our league should make top ten. Missouri State shouldn't be the only team, or even 1 of 2 teams representing the macha.

Theres the GMHL(Davenport, GVSU, Michigan State, Michigan), GLIHA (DePaul, Central Michigan), MACHA (Mo State), and WCCHA(St. Thomas).
With exception to Ferris State, everyone in the GMHL will at least go to regionals. Indiana and Miami(OH) are in the Southeast.

There are 3 upper teir leagues in the midwest
GMHL, GLIHA, MACHA (Gold)
GMHL is with out a doubt the best league and will have atleast 1 or 2 more reps in regionals then the other 2 which for argument sake are fairly equal.
Possible teams for regiaonals/nationals (including outside shots)
Also this is with out the Minnesota teams like St. Thomas, Mankato, Minn, St. Cloud
and Independant Central Mich.
The way I look at it in my opinion and I know there will be some that dont like it but it's my opinion, I think the following MACHA teams make Regionals
1- MSU Maroon
2- SIUE Gold (if rankers think RMC Maroon dropped the ball against Lindenwood but they were both 1 goal losses to another ranked team so I cnat see that happening, As well as a great showing for SIUe vs. GVSU gives SIUE a valid argument but I dont think it is enough to get over the hump)
So the final prediction is MSU Maroon is the lone MACHA rep in regionals. Good luck to all in league playoffs.

quite good. I think siue is worthy as well. and they did put up a good showing vs gvsu. but so did mizzou. and mizzou and siue have played three times this year.
first game 6-0 siue won, second game 6-3 mizzou won, third game 8-4 mizzou won. that 2-1 in favor of mizzou.
So, respecting your opinion, mine is that mizzou should have been ranked all along and deserves to go to regionals. i guess no one likes them.

The 2 biggest knock on Mizzous record are losses to Mckendree and Nebraska
not saying there arent a couple iffy games on the SIUE side but I think to me those 2 losses for Mizzou will make the difference ecspecially since the Nebraska loss was since the last ranking period. Again just my opinion but I totally agree with your opinion going the other way as well.

okay, you're right about the nebraska game.
although they played texas tech close too
many factors involved though (excuses)
but the mckendree loss was an exhibition game after having tryouts. it was back in september and the team is really, really different, although the website doesn't show it. and they beat thwm by a lot the next day.

Was it scheduled as an exhibition game ahead of time? Did McKendree know it was an exhibition game? Is it listed on the ACHA website as an exhibition game, which can be done? The only one calling it an exhibition game is Mizzou and that was only after it was a loss. (I am not a McKendree person either)

That is correct, but if it truly was an exhibition game, a "practice game" and not a regular season games then it wouldn't count in either teams record. Just like, for example, let's say the blues played detroit in an exhibition game at the start of the season and beat them 35 - 3. It wouldn't count for much because it was an exhibition game and not a part of the season. HUGE difference.

While head to head is a part of the criteria, there are 7 others:
Strength of Schedule, W/L Record based on Strength of Schedule, Comparitive scoring,
Complying with ACHA Policies, General Knowledge of Voter, Overall W/L, Good Wins/Bad Losses/H & A Records.
If you're going to compare the 2 teams, look at all the factors. However, you have the right to your opinion and to voice it on the forum. The rankings will be interesting when they come out this week...

If McKendree was an exhibition game, then by definition so is Missouri's other non division/league games. For that matter then anyone who plays outside their division are exhibition games. I guess when Missouri loses it's an exhibition game.

Stay classy McKendree! No one from Mizzou ever said it was an exhibition game. It just happened to be before team's were selected finally. They obviously took the first game too lightly. Not the second which they clearly won. The big question might be if anything else memorable happened this season? It was the first game of the year. It was one win/loss, who cares. I'm sure both teams are very different now.

First of all Missouri is a very good team who in my opinion got snubbed for regionals. And I can tell you first hand that if Mizzou brought their squad down here right now they would beat us. I kind of feel disrespected however about he fact that Mizzou claims it was an exhibition. I mean you guys had nearly the same personnel saturday and Im sure you guys didn't have a cut session between games so what happened? Are we better than Mizzou? I don't think so, but we did our job in preparation and outskated a team who took us lightly whether it be the first or last game of the season that deserves respect. Mizzou has a legit chance to win gold this weekend and I feel like the took that first game of the season against us and learned from it, which is what good teams do.

The loss to Mckendree didn't have that much of an effect on Mizzou. The other losses are the reasons why they aren't at regionals. Split with Illinois State, tie and loss to Iowa, loss to Nebraska, and 4 losses to Missouri State.

This whole argument about Mizzou and it's beginning of the year roster is ridiculous. Looking at the official ACHA roster as of today the only two players I can see that are new are O'Connell and Chapel. Mizzou also lost a few players evidently at semester. Why are there repeated excuses regarding the loss to McKendree? Looks like the same team playing now played then. Give McKendree props for their win and move on. At the end of the day Mizzou had plenty of other losses and ended up 3rd in gold behind MSU and SIUE so while I think they should have been ranked I'm not sure why they continue to make excuses for that early loss to McK.

I made the comment about Mizzou and McK and I'm neither a hockey player or fan of theirs. I just think it's sad that we have seen the same tired response regarding that game from Missouri all season. You need to let it go since I don't see McK bringing up the issue. It comes up whenever a few people from Mizzou are defending their record and dredge up the fallacy of that "exhibition" loss to McK.
It was early in the season, they won the game, get over it.
