I heard from a friend that the D2 league GLIHA is going under and will not be a league next year.. Now the source I heard it from is not very reliable, but that would explain why Depaul wants back into MACHA. So does anyone know, is this true that GLIHA will not be a league anymore? If so MACHA will really be the most powerful D2 league in the central region next to GMHL. And if this is true does anyone know what Lindenwood and Illinois D2 plan on doing for next season? I know Depaul, Lindenwood, and Illinois all used to be apart of MACHA.. would all of them try to get back into the league?? And if they do would they even be let back into the league for leaving in the first place??

If they wanted to get back in the league they should be allowed. They would make the MACHA one of the best leagues in the nation

How many teams from the MACHA got to the National Tournament this season, last season, the last three seasons?

Powerful I would question.

This league has a good number of teams that geographically help each other because there was vision many moons ago back when it was a failing league called the Illinois Wisconsin Collegiate Hockey Association. From a success standpoint of sending teams to National Tournaments, well it's getting better but, still has some way to go to meet the level of teams that play in the central region from around the Michigan area. Just seems like they get a level of players just slightly better than the teams in the MACHA.

I have also heard of GLIHA folding from a friend of mine who plays for U of I's D2 team...He's a roommate of their team president, so I would consider him a fairly reliable source. He says they (UofI) are wanting to join the MACHA.

I have heard some teams want to join MACHA gold and that is the only way they will join. That is not how our league works. YOu join MACHA and then get seeded. Look at SIU-E, MSU, Eeastern, Iowa, and ISU. They all had to prove themselves to move up. I think if a team comes in saying we will only get in if we can be in Gold we have to really look at if we want that kind of attitude. This has been one of the longest existing leagues in the country for a reason. Everyone needs to look at the big picture, long term.

If Lindenwood, DePaul, U of I, RMC-Maroon all came into MACHA Gold, we would be a powerhouse of a league. Every weekend would be a huge battle between great teams. Every weekend would be meaningful to the ACHA rankings. Those 4 and the top 6 from MACHA Gold would make a ten team division providing 18 great games and still leave room for 6 to 10 non-league games for those who want to leave the midwest area for some games.

Sure some of those organizations have rubbed MACHA the wrong way in the past, but we are really talking about the future, not the past. The board is made up of current MACHA teams and will stay that way. Let's do what is best for our current players.

I talked with the same source today and he said that Central Michigan had dropped out, Bowling Green and Dayton had been expelled and DePaul just dropped out. This would leave U of I, Lindenwood and RMC-Maroon left, but U of I is working on a return to the MACHA.

Bowling Green and Dayton both dropped due to too much travel. DePaul, who knows why. Illinois will not be joining the MACHA.
