MSU 3 RMC 3 - looks like it may be OT again

MSU takes a retaliation penalty - 5' major - when will they learn? Good team, really good ones, don't take stupid penalties. Looks like the change in coaching didn't matter

It wasn't a retaliation penalty. It was definatley a charge were the other player was shaken up a bit. But it was not in retaliation. There is a difference!

according to the acha that would go down as a tie since the only shootouts in d2 can happen when it is a league game and the league has approved them.

The shoot out issue is a little sticky and again poses a problem this year. The ACHA follows the NCAA rulebook and it states that any game can be broken by a shoot out if both teams consent to it.

Where the problem lies is that if both teams are ACHA D2 teams (the ACHA D2 does not recognize the shoot out until playoffs) the winning team can still consider the game a win since both teams consented to the shoot out. For ACHA ranking purposes, though, the game is recorded as a tie for both teams.

So potentially each team could have diffrent personal team records and different ACHA records. Sticky.

Thats not what the ACHA says. They say only a shootout if the league approves one.

Sat.

Iowa State (D1) 11
SLU 1

Outscored 21 to 1 on the weekend in Ames and two weekends coming against Lindenwood and Arizona, OUCH. Bad planning. Based on MSU splitting with Iowa State, I'd say MSU will have their way with SLU in November.

From ACHA Manual

Part five.
III. Rules of Play
A. NCAA Rule Book Exceptions for Men's Division 2
1. ACHA Leauge may adopt rules to allow the use of a shootout at the conclusion of a tied game.
ii. Non league games would default back to the ACHA standard, which does not allow for a shootout.

Yours truly,

Mr. Know It All
