I've never written on here before, but I've created a name such that everyone knows who I am. I have never encountered anything this ridiculous in my life.
First off, we got smoked by st. thomas...no excuses at all. But I couldn't believe my eyes when I signed on to facebook, yes facebook of all places, on sunday night and saw I had a message from a mr. Jake Miller. Now to be honest I still don't even know for sure, but I have a strong feelingh that he's the back-up goalie for st. thomas, considering the kid didn't stop running his mouth the entire weekend.
This is a straight copy and paste of the message...name, time, etc. etc. all included (i replaced all those naughty words from jake with *'s, hopefully u wont delete this Kich):

Report Message your such a poor sport you little kid. you talked all the *** in the world until we whooped your *** and then you had nothing to say. you are a disgrace to hockey. i didnt even say a word to you and you decided to open your mouth before the 2nd period on saturday night for no reason at all and it looks like you got what you deserved. ranked 6th in the central? good luck even being in the top 15 after we dominated you guys for both games... 7-2 and 6-1 are statement games for us and it was obvious you guys didn't even belong on the same sheet of ice as us... and you guys really play in a mall? seriously? thats pathetic. where i come from, we have these buildings called hockey arenas, and thats where we play our games.
good luck the rest of the year, you guys are going to need it. you are a horrible hockey player, you didn't even have a point the entire weekend. anybody can get a bunch of points when you play teams like bradley university, and northern and eastern illinois. try playing some actual good teams and scoring points. oh ya, you did. you played a good team this weekend and didnt get a single point. i think that is the end of the argument
and by the way, you guys are sore losers. your team is horrible and your league sucks ***. **** the macha, you don't stand a chance against us

Notice the time, 8:31pm...we played them at 1130am in Iowa City, they pry left town around 2pm for Minneapolis, which means the kid pry went straight home to write me this cute little message. Like really? This makes me sick...talking crap to an opposing team via facebook?? This means he had to find my name on the roster, and search the U of Iowa network for me. Unreal. Take shots at me on the ice when your standing in front of me, not shots at my team, and the whole league for that matter, via FACEBOOK. I don't know if anyone in our league plays them again, but I hope you run the score up on this kid, if he even gets to see the ice. What a joke

Wow.

It doesn't seem that St. Thomas will play anyone from the MACHA until they get to Regionals, if they get that far. I talked to a guy who played for St. Thomas last year about this tender, he said that "Miller is a duster". A pretty fitting description given the attitude in that Facebook message.

Thanks for posting and including an identity.

Don't be too quick to judge before you know the reason for the message being sent to the Iowa kid.

After the completion game 2 of the Iowa/UST series, #9 (Kyle Jacobson) on Iowa pulled a real classy move and cheapshotted a St Thomas kid by punching him in the face IN THE HANDSHAKE LINE. The St. Thomas kid did not retaliate and throw in a cheap shot of his own because in Minnesota, we don't punch kids in the handshake line. While this may be common practice for Iowa, #9 on Iowa, Kyle Jacobson, showed the poor sportsmanship and lack of class that is ingrained in Iowa athletics. All trash talk during a game aside, when the game is over, and men are showing sportsmanship and shaking hands, it really shows how poor of a sport a kid has to be to cheap shot someone on the other team when no retaliation would take place.

When someone is so immature that they cannot handle the feat of losing, and have to resort to cheapshotting an opponent in the handshake line to handle their frustration, maybe that person shouldnt participate in competitive athletic programs. Just about everyone in the ACHA talks trash during the games, but never have I witnessed someone show such a classless act at the completion of a game. Any other time two people butt heads in the course of a game, they put all that aside and both show the fitting conduct for a sportsman and shake hands. #9 on Iowa decided it was more his style to forgo the handshake and throw a punch. Real classy Iowa.

I'm with you, punching a kid in the handshake line is as classless and cowardly act as you imagine. Maybe the problems we've been reading about at Iowa are more systemic than we can imagine.

Wow is right.
Kid from Iowa-maybe you shouldn't have throw the cheapshot. If i would have punched a kid in the handshake line, I would have thought twice about bringing the subjecct to the internet.

Not going to lie, the Iowa kid punching the St. Thomas kid in the handshake line is really a low blow, and shows an extreme lack of sportsmanship. I don't blame the St. Thomas kid, I probably would have hunted the Iowa kid down and brought him to an alley along with a baseball bat.

I agree with the kid from above, "real classy iowa". punching kids in the handshake line? That's a new one for me

he really punched the kid in the handshake line??? ive never heard of that one before. that kyle jacobson kid must be a real poor sport and must learn how to deal with the fact of losing. the coach should bench that kid. sportsmanship should be taught, shown, and displayed entirely throughout all sporting events (or maybe i'm just oldschool).

is it true that the night before the iowa/st thomas series that one kid on iowa's team got into a fight with another kid on the team over a girl? and one of the kids knocked the other kid out and broke a bone in his face?

if thats true, then thats hilaaaaaarious... shows how rare a hot girl must be down in iowa... teammates are willing to knock eachother out for one.

hahahahahahaha... nice work iowa

that is a very embarassing incident for iowa's team. that shows their program is a classless act lacking sportsmanship. i have never seen someone punch an opponent in the handshake line. that is extremely unsportsmanlike and very childish. i would be embarassed if i was the kid who did it, the coach, or on iowa's team.

i believe that there was no punch thrown in the handshake line but rather a slap in the face because the goalie was being a dbag the entire series and wouldn't shut his mouth

I can't help but notice that posts 3-9 say just about the same thing every time, and "coincidentally" are only about an hour apart. You're not fooling anyone buddy. If you get hit on the ice, take care of it on the ice...but facebook?? haha, to steal your line, 'that's a new one for me'. And to the same poster who said you would hunt the Iowa player down with a baseball bat, you're a coward. Instead of fighting back when you get cheapshotted, you're plan is to hunt the kid down and take a baseball bat to him in an alley? Get a life.

17 and 4. You must be a complete moron to say who cares about points. He obviously helps the iowa team more than he hurts them or they wouldn't be 17 and 4.

I cannot believe i actually read every post of this ridiculous thread... I do however have an opinion... I would like to preface is by saying that I am in no way affiliated with either team and my opinion may show that.

Dear Mr. #9 (iowa) and Mr. Jake Miller (St Thomas),

To both of you... What were you thinking? First of all, it seems this started with a punch (or slap) in the handshake line. It doesn't matter what it was, all that matters is that shouldn't have happend. However it did. I wouldn't have minded an initial reaction (maybe a little jawing right after it happend) but it needed to end right there on the ice. It did not need to continue...

Miller, i think your opinion of #9 and the iowa team was probably pretty evident after he love tapped you or whatever. You did not need to continue throwing **** back. People have defended you by saying you didn't retaliate in the line but in doing this facebook thing you did. I mean... you guys killed them. That should have been enough for you knowing that on that night you were better then them. Regardless, if you thought anyone would find out about it... it doesn't show class. So both of you did not show class.

Then it had to be brought up again on Network 54 of all places... wow guys. Come on... i haven't bothered to look at your playing time or your year in college but grow the hell up. You may not be leaders on your team now but soon you might have to be. Don't bring your organization up into a negative situation. You're setting a stereotype for your team... not just for yourself.

Thats all i have to say...

Reminder...when you post a response to the post above, it indents to the right. So pick the original post when it gets scrunched up like above.

As for #9, you can teach position and strategy, but you can't teach passion and this guy plays the game with a truckload of passion. What gets him in trouble is what drives him to be one of the best in the league. It's often a package deal and I've seen it with mant of the best players over the years.
