| The Thanksgiving break game between Mizzou and MSU in St. Louis has been moved to Jan 2nd. Who is gonna win this game? Do keep in mind they play in St. Louis because because MOST of the players live there, so the whole team might not be available. Oh and lets try and keep it civil. |

Doesn't matter, Iowa will win the championship. |

Iowa doesn't have what it takes to beat MSU again. That is if they make it to the championship game! |

Mizzou over MUS - I predict 5-3 |

Not sure who MUS is, but MSU will romp over Mizzou. At least a 5-3 score, but more like 9-3. Will be a good warm up before Ferris. |

Southwest Missouri State has no change again Ferris. |

This is about the show me showcase, not about the games after it. Mizzou played a good couple games against RMC-S. It might be a tough win, but I am certain Missouri State will pull out a win. |

Yes, it's about the showcase and bragging rights. It's also a good warm up before Ferris. |

Mizzou over MSU - money in the bank. MSU has lost it's luster and is fair game for everyone. Just watch |

Tough call. Should be a decent game but both teams will be missing players guaranteed, but how do we know who. |

Who cares? The mighty MSU has fallen |

Missouri State is going through a slump, they have not fallen at all. Mizzou will lose the game, I predict 4-2. |

Why don't these two teams (MSU and Mizzou) include SLU, SIUE, McKendree and LU D2's in their little local challenge games next Christmas (2009)? Come on boys, get this one going, you're missing a good opportunity to get local players to consider your programs. |

I believe the purpose is that Mizzou and MSU are the two largest universities in the state of Missouri, and Missouri is the Show Me State. Thus, the Show Me Showcase, and Illinois teams would not fit in this idea. And they play in Stl because a lot of the players live there of both teams. The game is also normally played during Thanksgiving break. But I do agree it would be a really good showcase in St Louis with those teams, I just do not think Show Me Showcase is the appropriate title. |

OK, call it the Missouri Christmas College Invitational, that way Mizzou and MSU can run it and invite whatever two teams they want, SLU, SIUE, Lindenwood, McKendree etc.... Probably 90% of the players on all these teams are from the St. Louis area so they would all be in town over Thanksgiving or Christmas. I think it's a good idea.

Why would Mckendree be in that tournament, thier a silver team. Thats just like saying MSU JV should be thier as well. |

Other teams have tournaments or games that they don't invite MSU or Mizzou to. Why should they invite other teams because they feel sorry for them, or you?
This is a one game annual meeting between the teams because most are from the St. Louis area, and it's a great way to allow the families to attend a meeting between the two teams without traveling 3 hours to Springfield or 2 to Columbia.
Why the hostility? Let it go. Go ask your team to have an annual meeting with an instate rival.

Ok, so I was 32 miles off. Man that's sooooo funny. The school is in Columbia, and yes they play in the Washington Park Rec. rink in Jeff City. Seems that the school or voters turned down building a rink in Columbia last year. |

thats because.....Columbia sucks |

Because if they expanded and actually organized it as a tournament they could leverage some attention from youth hockey players that one day will be choosing a college club team. That's about the highest level that the majority of players get to from the St. Louis area is club so why not try to keep your local talent in the local universities. Works for University of Illinois, maybe it would help Mizzou, MSU, SLU, SIUE etc. etc.. Open it up as a tournament and do more for college hockey then for yourselves and the local universities would reap benefits. |

Well, they already have the tournament you are talking about. It's called the Mid-America Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA) Tournament. And last I knew, you had to EARN your way into that one. |

Play it at a decent venue also. The ice at Webster this year is terrible. I have seen a couple high school games and by the end of the second period it is like skating in 3 inches of snow. Play it in Chesterfield, The Mills, or St. Peters. |

So why would anyone want to expand the "Show Me Showcase"???
1. Apparently there is an interest from other clubs in participating.
2. Gate and souvenier/clothing sales would generate badly needed revenues for the participating clubs.
3. Exposure would attract fan support and draw players.
4. Keeps players in shape over the break.
5. Competition among teams that may not see each other during the season is always fun.
6. Hockey is good.
These are the ones that jump out at me... any others?
Hope everyone is having an enjoyable holiday season.

It will be real enjoyable after Mizzou puts a spanking on MSU! |

If clubs are worried about the cost, all it would take is a call to the Blues. If they will give the youth hockey program in St. Louis a nice little 5 figure check I think they might be able to help pay for some ice and officials. It is all about promoting the sport. Hell even the high school teams are doing their own little "winter classic" at Shaw Park in January. |

I really like the idea of another showcase, i think it would be a great showing of collegiate hockey, yes they already have a national div 2 showcase, but this is more local, and im sure the blues would love it! |

Dave Bauer, #8 on Mizzou, is a big baby. Actually the whole team is full of whiney babies, I can't believe one player broke the plexiglass with his stick! |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Show Me Showcase Expand? No score for this post | January 3 2009, 10:24 AM |
Sorry, the name of #8 for Mizzou is Tim Dolan, the "place to go for up to date Mizzou hockey information" said Dave Bauer. The announcer gave a shoutout to the website last night and I laughed because there is nothing on that website, the last news is from the loss to MSU in the championship game. |

The Score was 7-2 until MSU put in their back up who gave up 2 quick ones. AND... did you hear when they announced the number of scratches MSU had compared to MIzzou... MSU had like 7 scratches and MU had like 2. Hopefully, that doesn't mean that when they have their rematch later in the season that it isn't a blowout. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Show Me Showcase Expand? No score for this post | January 3 2009, 1:41 PM |
Yeah Mizzou had one and MSU had I think 4. One guys has been out for injury, another lives in CO, another was a goalie, and the other I don't remember. I know one of the JV players brought up scored a goal, the last one I believe! |

Mizzou had six regulars scratched, but at least you were close...Shots were even and the game was even minus the 10 extra power plays which were Mizzou's fault. SHould be good games down in Springfield. And the classy move of the night goes to the coach's kid, a nice spear as the teams head off the ice between periods. He must be proud. |

It is in fact a picture from the showcase this year, I was there, my friend took it. It was right before the faceoff after the delay from the broken glass. | |
