That's completely wrong. Northwestern is 8-1-2 in league right now. McKendree is 11-1-1. MSU is 7-2-1. If McKendree wins out they win the regular season title.

MSU's playoff fortunes may ride on the whims of the varsity club. MSU's success all year has come in large part because they had three lines they could roll knowing that any of them could create some offense and play good defense.
The varsity team pulled two of their players off of the JV squad last weekend which caused them to remake their 2nd and 3rd lines for the weekend. Remaking lines that have for the most part played together all year is certainly a challenge at this point in the season. (This occurred with no advance notice to the JV coaches apparently. Which is nothing new for the way this organization works.) Heck one of the kids that stayed in Springfield had his equipment travel to Chicago according to WSR.
While this might be OK if there was a bigger goal in mind but there isn't. The varsity club is playing for the same thing as the silver squad. (MACHA tournament title and nothing else.) So here's to hoping that the powers to be make the right decisions and let the silver team have their best shot in the macha tournament.
(The silver team was still competitive with Northwestern over the weekend as the shots were just about even and the game wasn't decided until overtime. This was possible because they varsity team left the number one line intact (go figure.) But they are clearly not as good a team as with the missing players. Team speed is slower and penalty kill is not as strong as one of the players was a key component to the pk.)

This forum has been created with the purpose to constructively discuss college club hockey. We encourage you to freely discuss any topic you wish, with the caveat that you keep the discourse within the bounds of good taste. While good natured trash-talking is fun, thought provoking and acceptable, any replies that turn personal, disrespectful and/or disruptive of the intent of this forum will be deleted by the moderators of this forum.
Our intent is to build up and promote college club hockey and its teams. We need to work together and support each other to make this happen. We already have enough critics of club hockey. Let's do our best to keep things amiable on this forum, as not to give them any ammunition.
Best of luck to ALL teams!
