Marquette owns a tie against McKendree this year (actually ended in an unofficial shoot-out win for Marquette.) Looks like McKendree has a worthy first game opponent. This one could be interesting.

The actual final score of the Marquette - ISU game was 6-4. ISU controlled the game in the 3rd period but could not get quality shots and the Marquette goalie was steady. ISU pulled goalie to come within one at 5-4 but could not tie it up and surrendered a empty net with 00:01 on the clock. It was a good up and down game and well officiated. Game winner ended up being a PP goal while on a 5:00 power play. 4 vs. 5 seeds are always a toss up.

Good win for the hawks...they also had a defenseman put the goalie pads on and sit on the bench per macha regulations, sounds like they'll have an actual goalie backing up dodge tomorrow

i'm just wondering why Marquette was trying to trash talk McKendree when McKendree waxed them and even look like they put out there tall bench warmer who even scored a goal and got an assist. if i were playing i would have shut my mouth and taken the loss with respect and honored the game. you win some and you lose some. they should have taken advantage when McKendree started off slow and sloppy. Nice way to represent your school.

how does mizzou stand no chance? To my recollection, they lost both games late in third on soft goals. And this was with missing 6 of their players all forwards on the top 3 lines. Mizzou is proving a point in these playoffs and gonna take down 3 ranked teams....too bad they don't release the final ranking after league playoffs!!!

Mizzou played MSU three times in reg season, one time it was a 7-4 loss. Mizzou had one game in the bag then blew it. In my opinion the reason why they played as hard as they did all game is because they only had a 1-0 lead till late in the third. This probably kept them from blowing the game. If Iowa comes in hard and doesn't let Mizzou catch up the game will be decided fast. Mizzou might have a chance, but don't say it's just because they beat MSU once out of four games. But don't get me wrong, I want to see them beat Iowa up, I would love to see Iowa lose to a regular season fourth ranked team. MSU still has a chance to take on Iowa next weekend if they both win their first games in regionals.

MSU has also been missing a lot of players, not just forwards. Mizzou technically lost both games very late in the third and OT... also known as the end of the game. Now if you mean when MSU pulled ahead to win...then it was earlier than the third in both games. First game MSU pulled ahead in the second period to 2-1 and did not look back. At one point it was 4-2 then shortly after it was 5-3. Does not look like they won the game late in the third on soft goals. Second game was not technically won till OT, but Mizzou lost their grip on the win when they gave up those two goals in the second to put it at 3-2. Up until tonigts game, MSU had beaten Mizzou 9 games in a row. One of which I am sure everybody remembers is the championship game last year. I look forward to some very heated games next year, it is a great rivalry.

The best silver team...who should be in the gold division.
I don't know if their organization could handle only being a mediocre team and not winning every year, though.

McK winning the championship clearly makes them the best team. But they are not far and away the best team in silver, in fact the top 3/4 in silver are pretty well matched, no reason to move anyone to gold.

iowa gets demolished in OT...MIZZOU turned it up and outshot iowa by 20. good call on iowa dominating a mizzou team they beat by a goal in the season when mizzou was missing six key players....you all can suck on it!!!

Word around the rumor mill is Mizzou knew they were going to win, so they bought bottles of champagne before the game. Nothing like a Cristal shower after sniping twine.

Trying to say the ranking committee didnt know what they were doing is not correct...if mizzou wanted to be ranked they should have beat MSU and Iowa when it counts for rankings. They won when it counts for playoffs though and I applaude them on that.

Mizzou's goalies were the absolutely phenomenal all weekend. Vogt played Friday and won the game with over 30 saves and also played in all of the 90 minutes of the game today and had over 40 saves. Their other goalie was equally impressive with over 40 saves in a shut out of Missouri State Saturday. Congrats to John Lamond and his boys they had a hell of a weekend. Also congrats to Bryan Chamberlain and the year his Northwestern team had and their overtime victory Saturday over Missouri State.
Good luck to Iowa and Missouri State at Regionals.

there is a video on YouTube showing the potential game winner for Iowa in the 2nd OT. Very interesting. What do you think? (check YouTube under: Did Iowa Score)

Wow really? Trying to make it look like Iowa scored off of that video? The camera is not on the net while the puck is going towards the net and you can not see past the goalie. Give the angle that it came back and the placement, it appears that it would have had to come off of the goalies skate probably. Which was not in the net.

True, the camera doesn't catch the puck in the goal, but the sound it makes sure sounds like the bottom of the net. And it doesn't sound like the post as that's generally a "ping" vs the hollow "thunk" that you'd associate with the back pipe. And it definitely is not the goalie's skate.

One name, and it's a new one; Schnitzler! Mizzou's coaches got lucky with this enrollment. Former National Champ as new goalie; Miz going to be around awhile.

We had a fairly good angle on the play and from what I could tell is: the shot hit Vogt's left goal pad and because it was angled the shot went off his pad as he kicked out, hit the post, and came out. The sound you hear could be because the nets were not held with rubber tubing into the ice, they were using just the metal pegs. It could have been the peg rattling inside the post.
Darn good game though!

As much as I'd like to let this get kicked around for a while, here's what actually happened...
First, off, I'm the guy who shot the film and posted it on YouTube.
Last night I connected my camera, a Canon High Def, directly to my plasma monitor and ran the tape in Hi Def mode to get a better look. As you've seen from the YouTube version, I didn't catch the puck crossing the crease, but I did catch it coming back out. So the question that's been driving me nuts is where did it come from as the angle looked to be like it was coming from the back of the net.
After multiple looks trying to see if I could catch any glimpse of the puck behind Mizzou's goalie, I couldn't at all. And I did have a good angle of the ice directly behind the goalie as it was coming out. So my conclusion, and this sync's with #11 who, as he said in his post, was in a perfect position to see the shot, is that the puck hit the left goal post and came back out underneath the goalie. What puzzled me was the angle of the puck coming out as it looks fairly steep as if it hit the back of the net. What I believe happened is that it hit the goalie's skate coming out which deflected it and changed the angle.
I can tell you with certainty that the noise you hear is not the goalie's pads or his skate, but absolutely that is the sound of the puck hitting pipe. In this case I'm confident it was the bottom of the left pipe, but not in the net. So I guess we won't be getting that cup after all.
Again, congrats to Mizzou on a great game.
