As this is a forum about "Midwest College Hockey", please focus your conversation on the teams, players, coaches and other hockey related topics. Although this forum is usually dominated by MACHA teams, it is encouraging that we have had some attention from/toward the MN and independant schools, considering how close teams in both conferences have come to making Regionals and/or Nationals.
This forum should be no different than an informal meeting in a giant room of fans, players, and coaches from all over the Midwest. Although I cannot force people to put names on their post, I highly recommend posters do so to give a post credibility. Chances are that if an anonymous person comes on here and tries to give a recap of a game with ISU, I dont know that I would have full confidence that its a trusted source. However, should ISU 7 come on and post about that game, I know that the captain of the ISU team is more than likely giving an accurate account of what happened (Thanks Alo for posting your name the past few seasons). If you were at the game and post on here, just put ISU Fan, or Iowa Fan, to give people a sense of where your coming from.
In having a public forum, trash talking will happen, and that's fine...to an extent. If you want to hype up a game by posting some smack talk about some players and/or teams on here, or give an opinion as to how a game went, give your 2 cents about certain issues, POST YOUR NAME. If you say something in a game, the opposition/refs/fans will know who its coming from, and it should be no different on here. That being said, not everything has to be negative. If Pitts from KU steals a game, give him props in doing so. If Shah dances the entire SIUE team for a hat trick, there's nothing wrong in posting that he's got sick mitts. There's no shame with giving praise or arguing on here, just remember its a community. Should to people have a difference of opinion on here, both posting names, and happen to play each other the following weekend, you can further discuss it there before or after a game... I know I've done it.
If mckhockey12 posts on here, we know its Roberts from McK. If SIUE 28 posts on here, its Dan Guarino from SIUE. If WSR posts, you know its one of the broadcasters from Missouri State. You may not like a guy for what he says, but you have to respect the fact that he posts knowing that his name is on the line. Should he post something positive about a team/player/coach/etc., you'll know who the praise is coming from. Again, I've tagged my name on every post for the last 6 years on here, there's a lot of them, it's not that hard.
As far as posts being removed, or edited... anything grossly inflamatory toward a player, school, coach, or otherwise will be deleted. There is smack talk, and then there's crossing the line. When that line gets crossed, posts will be edited or removed. Spamming the forum with (this happened)a player's name on multiple threads, will all be deleted. When posting on a topic, try and keep everything related to the topic at hand; going off on a tangent about how 2 years ago some Mo State JV player didn't win an award in a thread about how Mo State will do against KU, it will either be edited or deleted, it has no bearing on the topic and no one really cares. Posts that begin to, or continually "beat a dead horse" will be removed. Talking about the integrity of a school's educational background has NOTHING to do with hockey, and will be edited or deleted.
Should you post your name, I may be a bit more lenient than should you post anonymously. If you have a legit disagreement with something, post something heated on here and make a point, we'll let it play, as your holding yourself accountable by posting your name. Should someone just anonymously tear into someone and go on a rant, it must not hold enough value for you to take credit for it, so it may not be valuable enough to stay on here. While posting to a thread, its easier to reply to a post with a name attached, so we know who is talking, and to whom he is replying.
The game of hockey is played with honor and actions are taken with respect to a code at any level whether its High School, ACHA, NCAA, NHL, and should be no different on here. If there is something I didn't quite elaborate on in regards to posting; please do not post anything you wouldn't say in the aforementioned "informal meeting".
This forum has become a pretty viable source of information about the league, and has become a means of communication between all parties involved in the MACHA as well as other teams in surrounding conferences for the better part of the last 6 years. Lets keep it going.
