To any team: Make sure the next time you play McKendree you tell Mr. Misiak what a sorry excuse he is for even having the word "coach" next to his name. Obviously he forgot that he hasn't put one thought into the McK hockey program in the last 9 years and that the players have carried that team. What a joke.

I know a lot of people don't like his methods or this or that but I have always what his own players have to say? I mean, they did make it to Nationals last year.

I am one of his former players, one of them that made it to nationals last year. Let me reassure you, we didn't make it there because of great strategy or superb coaching. Actually, there has been none of that of any kind in the last 8 years! Wish I could score that kind of job, get paid and do nothing!

"one of former players..."

Let me say this. Until a lot of players say that, you are just one bitter player.

Thank you. This is not an isolated incident, putting it past me just being a bitter player. Look for McK to fold in the near future because of Mr. Misiak's efforts. I cant really see it going more than a year or so with this coaching. I guess he can just add it to his resume of folding teams: siue (and "misplacing jerseys, socks, water bottles) and the Jr. Blackhawks.

The guy shows up to practice five minutes after it has started and stands there, players run everything.

He is such a joke, his assistant coach for years quit the program...with the close to $200K thatbteam gets from the school, they should be dominating at the D1 level not scraping by at the D3 level

I cannot speak to the figure of 200K. However, I will share this with you. When I interviewed for the head coaching position with Dr. Todd Reynolds and Harry Statham, back when the program was being started, I was told that 125K was earmarked for the hockey program with 18K set aside for the head coach and 5K for the assistant coach. Can't say if that figure has gone up since them or down. Also, of interest, as I was told in the interview, that not only was the team being started to give students another opportunity to get involved, but it was also a business decision by the school. I was told that no one would be cut from the team so there would be no loss in tuition from a player and therefore revenue loss to the school. Informed that even if they were on the team to fill water bottles or keep score they would not be cut. So, as long as the team continued to make a profit for the school, all would be well. Can't fault the school whatsoever for this as college sports have seem to become more about business and revenue over athletics and education. As far as Bill as a coach, I will not comment as actions and results usually speak for them self. Just remember none of us are perfect and we all make mistakes. Hopefully we learn from them. However, I do salute Bill and take my hat off to him. He is one of the best salesmen I have ever seen in spite of what you may think of him as a coach. He could sell snow to an eskimo or shoes to a man with no feet. The only thing that disappoints me is that with their financial backing, the effort should have been to escalate the team to ACHA DI and not backwards to DIII just so they can ring up some league championships and trips to regionals. There are so many teams in MACHA, if they had McKendrees funding, would strive to move up, not take a step back. And no, I am not bitter. My wife is a McKendree grad and as it turns out not getting the job was the best thing for me and opened up better opportunities. Best of luck to McKendree and all of MACHA in the future.

Just throwing this out there. MCK gets 25 times the amount of funding MSU gets. If you break it down MSU has two teams so they get 50 times the amount of funding. Being a alum at hearing the amount of money MCK gets makes me want to throw up in my mouth. Never liked MCK. Never will.

This type of deception is occuring at other schools too like Lindenwood and RMU (big time). Students go there to feel that they are a specially selected athlete. They don't take into account the fact that they would never choose the school on its academic merit and that they are paying for their opportunity to play hockey through the high tuition costs. This is becoming a problem that the ACHA needs to deal with. This scam is ripping off these hockey players. For-profit schools like RMU have graduates who typically see way higher rates of unemployment and defaulted student loans six years after graduation.

As for Mr. Misiak, just glad we have not had to play them in years, the last time was full of enough memories to last a lifetime, for many of the reasons outlined above. A gong show gone wild!

Just to correct the mistakes in the above post. I looked at RMU's website. Here is what it says. They are non-profit institution.
Their tuition is on the less expensive side of the university scale. Sorry to let the facts get in the way of your post. Besides that, many high school and junior players decisions about school are based on both academic and athletic opportunities at the universities they choose.

"Robert Morris University is an independent, not-for-profit, multi-location institution offering associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degree programs that focus on integrating theory and applications. Robert Morris University prepares students to be practitioners in their chosen fields, socially responsible to their communities, and a foundation for their families."

Facts? RMU's Website? If you want facts rather than sales pitches, maybe you should check an unbiased authority such as U.S. News and World Report College Ranking.

Retention >> 1/4 of the students drop out after the first year and just over half actually graduate.

Tuition >> $21,600 That is double Illinois' Public State Universities.

And now the real description: Robert Morris University is a private institution that was founded in 1913. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 4,071 and its setting is urban. It utilizes a other-based academic calendar. Robert Morris University's ranking in the 2012 edition of Best Colleges is Regional Universities (Midwest), Tier 2.

I was made aware this morning of someone bashing RMU on this website forum. I don't usually react to the cowards that hide behind an anonymous post, but this time I feel it needs to be addressed. These posts are filled with a lot of made up facts, which is usually how these posters operate. As the previous poster pointed out, RMU is a non-profit institution. Our graduation rate is 73.2%, which is on the high end of the spectrum. Our retention rate for freshman could be better, but we have a high number of underrepresented minorities who are mostly first generation college students. A significant number of these students attend our downtown Chicago campus. RMU-Peoria has five players receiving ACHA academic all american awards this year. Our team GPA is 3.1.
If anyone would like to look up my facts, please go to the following website for the most recent information.

If you would like to talk to me about these facts you can email me and we could set up a call.
