Since everyone likes to talk bad about RMU Peoria I figured I would open up a thread where everyone can explain why they don't like RMU Peoria.

Becasue they won macha and were great this year and beat real teams and went 34-2 and have a chance to go to nationals, that's why people hate them, because they couldn't beat them

Above post is stupid, every team from silver dropped to d2 except Marquette and they played all d3 teams except for a few at d2 and those they lost, funny thing is, RMU smoked st. Norbert d2 who was ranked at one point, alot of d3 school are better then those at d2, good try on that bash lol

D2 teams in Silver are...

Marquette
Plateville
Augustana

They should all move to D3.

Here is why people don't like RMU Peoria...

A lot of people don't consider it a real college.
They recruit people from all over on the basis of play for free and get a humanitarian "couch scholarship cough" grant.
Their best players were too worried about showing no class instead of actually playing hockey. That changed this year.

Maybe there is more.

Until the ACHA stops allowing these "scholarships" other teams will not like them. People can call them grants because that is what happens in NCAA especially at some D3 schools. Well the NCAA is now cracking down on it and D3 SUNY conference has seen several teams get into some trouble with the NCAA over it. We will see if RMU as a whole can keep this going outside of chicago. You see how well in the long run this has worked in Springfield.

cry a river, build a bridge and get over it. RMU Peoria is just like any other school. Students from RMU are still receiving the same documentation of a diploma just like any other big market college such as Marquette who was just an embarrassment for the Macha who cant will D2 when they are d2

Nothing really to get over. People want to know why so many don't like RMU and that is why. The whole D2 or D3 thing is bunch of garbage anyway. Any team that can't make it to regionals every three to four years that is D2 should just go ahead and drop to D3. There is absolutely no method to the madness behind being in D3 with one exception...junior colleges must play in D3. I know there is an enrollment stipulation of 10,000 students but the ACHA has NEVER enforced that rule. Look at Iowa, they should have put both teams in D3 and then they could have two teams going to regionals right now.

To the 10:22 poster.

The ACHA does stipulate that. The basis on that ruling is that with a second team, the University can split their total population in half and if within reason of that 10,000 mark, can play a team in D2 and D3. Due to the ACHA rule, the University of Iowa had to petition to get their current d3 team to be eligible for d3.

That said, I believe they take I to account undergraduate enrollment. Iowa's undergrad enrollment for Fall 2011 was 21,565. That divided by two is 10,782 which is within reason. If Iowa had one team they'd have to play in D2, no exceptions.

You can find that info on page 42 of the ACHA Manual under Part 6, 1. Team Eligibility. Section D. Membership restrictions.

If Iowa had one team they could be in D3. The only part about the enrollment rule that you need to know is the petition part.
