Out of curiosity, I checked out my copy of Natalie's Autopsy Report. The result of the Toxicology tests revealed three substances in Natalie's body. They were:-

Ethanol
Propoxyphene
Cyclizene

Tests were done for a number of other substances, but none were found.

I did a bit of research to find out what the aforementioned three substances were and here (briefly) is what I found:-

Ethanol - Also known as ethyl alcohol or grain alcohol and one of the alcohols most often found in alcoholic bevereges. This obviously came from the alcohol Natalie consumed that night.

Propoxyphene - Is in a class of drugs called narcotic analgesics. It relieves pain. It is used to treat moderate or severe back pain.
What's interesting about this drug are the warnings about
a) Not using if you suffer from depression or suicidal thoughts
b) Avoiding alcohol while taking it because alcohol increases the drowsiness and dizzyness caused by Propoxyphene
c) Using caution when driving, operating machinery or performing any other hazardous activities because Propoxyphene causes drowsiness.

Cyclizine - Is used to relieve nausea, vomiting and dizzyness associated with motion sickness.
Once again there are warnings about driving, operating machinery etc - becuase Cyclizine may cause dizziness, drowsiness or blurred vision.
Also a warning about alcohol - "Use Alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking Cyclizene."

So could these (even though they were clearly taken in the correct dosages by Natalie) have contributed to Natalie's death? I think they might have, especially when combined with the alcohol. It's easy to imagine Natalie going up onto the deck of the yacht, leaning over to untie the dinghy and succuming to a dizzy spell, causing her to fall overboard.

I suspect that Natalie had no idea that taking both Propoxyphene and Cyclizine was dangerous (as they both cause dizziness and drowziness - and should not be mixed with alcohol).

Also, was the Propoxyphene actually Natalie's? I ask becuase I have no idea if she suffered from back pain - but RJ certainly had trouble with his back. I've read one article which describes him lying on the floor because his back was bad. I've also heard that he'd suffered from back trouble since the late 60s/early 70s.

What I'm trying to say is, could Natalie have taken one of RJ's painkillers not knowing how strong it was, what the side effects could be and that it would almost certainly clash with her Cyclizine...and the alcohol?

Maybe she did know, and wanted that extra edge to help her sleep. She had been taking medication for a long time and may have built up a little tolerance for them so they may not have been working as well. I have taken various medications to help me sleep over the years and sometimes I will take something else when I am bothered and have trouble sleeping. Not the best idea, but sometimes even with my prescribed stuff, I can't nod off. But I have never, ever mixed it with booze.
