What a surprisingly entertaining film "Meteor" was. I finally learned which film Maryanne here dislikes. (LOL) I didn't really find it boring, but compared to the at least three remakes since, I guess it does pale in comparison. "Armageddon," "Deep Impact," and "The Day After Tomorrow" all seemed to have stolen story ideas from "Meteor," but all four films kept me interested. "Deep Impact," in fact, is one of my all-time favorites - great acting all around!
It was kind've funny seeing a miscast Sean Connery in "Meteor." First, eight years earlier he had not only co-starred with Natalie's sister (in Diamonds Are Forever), but had sex with her in his hotel room, too! Wonder what Natalie thought when she met Sean those years later on the set of "Meteor." She probably had little respect for him. He was/perhaps still is an egotist. Second, it was strange to see him on location in the Houston area, where I live. He was shot on location at the Johnson Space Center, just down the highway from where I live, about 10-15 miles, I'd say. I never knew Sean Connery had once been in Houston to film a movie.
Anyway, "Meteor," in my opinion, is a good film: 3 1/2 stars!

I don't hate but it's not my favorite. The thing is I don't like that type of film with all the special effects...
Natalie and Sean got along great. They had known each other for a long time. I have pictures of them playing golf together...after she died he referred to her as the most beautiful woman he ever met...most of the film was shot at MGM...
She chose the name of the character herself, Tatiana. She practiced her accent buy listening to her mother's voice on tape and by listening to Gregory Peck's mom's voice...Natalie loved her accent. She had to brush up on the language to do this film which made her more prepared for her trip to Russia.
