Lana Wood in Peyton Place

Lana's character is now on and I hadn't realized how pretty she was too when young. Natalie definitely was much prettier and a better actress, but Lana sure didn't have any problem with the men flocking around her either I'd say. It must have been very difficult to have grown up as Natalie Wood's sister but at least Lana was pretty. Imagine if she'd been homely.

She was "quiet" beautiful. Gee, I wonder who the author of that post is. She was in her youth when she did Peyton Place. That was not her prime.
Who else was in that scene you watched? What was the storyline? On what cable station does Peyton Place air?

What is really sad about poor Lana is how cruel Robert Wagner has been to her. He tried to destroy her but she's a strong lady. He would not survive a walk in her shoes.

I don't think so. You see the series has not been released in it's entirely. Only 2 seasons have been released and Lana was not in the first 2 seasons. I love it when this fool makes an even bigger fool out of himself if that's possible. He lies and lies and lies and flushes any credibility he may have down the toilet which is fitting for him. CSL @ this fool!

Why would anyone take the time to do that? Maybe in your world where apparently watching an old tv show automatically makes you an *ss, well, at least I have lots of company. The show is still quite popular and I was too young to watch it the first time around.

Since it seems to bug you for some inane reason, but yes, it's quite true sweet cheeks. I'm currently on ep. 232 (thought it was 272 but I was wrong). Lana Wood's character is on for 78 eps. Lana Wood even married her tv husband, Steven Oliver, and it lasted 5 weeks. He went sky diving with some pals overnight and that didn't sit well with Miss Lana so she blew that pop stand.

Incidentally, since you're so interested, a very young Micky Dolenze of the Monkees had 3 eps. on PP. And a very young and handsome Leslie Nielson before he attained fame.

For $39. you can buy the entire set and free shipping so let your fingers do the walking......

Now put that in your pipe and smoke it good.

And take another DUMS.

Allison (Mia Farrow of course), has just whacked off all that long beautiful silken blonde hair of hers to spite her then husband, ol' Blue Eyes himself. Frankie divorced her not long after that. Thought she looked like a young boy and he wasn't so attracted anymore. She'll be leaving the show soon as Frankie knew she was destined for greater things than a soap opera.

Rodney Harrington (a very young Ryan O'Neal), has been acquitted of murdering Joe Chernak. The beautiful Betty Anderson (Barbara Parkins) is now married and living in luxury with the tall, dark and handsome Steven Cord. Pretty soon Leigh Taylor Young's character will be introduced. She was quite beautiful but alas, doesn't last long on the show after Ryan sweeps her off her feet in real life and marries her.

I'll keep you apprised. Ta Ta! for now. Some of us do have business to conduct during the day.

The 4 PP movies also are included in the $39. The original movie with Lana Turner, the movie that had a young Carol Lynley as Allison, Murder in Peyton Place and PP: The Next Generation. It's a great deal. The movies will wait til I finish the series. The audio and visual is great too. The eps. I'm on are still in black and white but will soon be in color. James Douglas I know you will look even better in color!! What a good looking man he was. And still alive.

There are many of the PP characters still alive today and living to a ripe old age.

Barabara Parkins
Ryan O'Neal
Mia Farrow
Patricia Morrow
James Douglas
Ed Nelson
Dorothy Malone
Tim O'Connell
Lana Wood

I don't read ahead to what will happen as I want to be surprised. I've become quite a fan of PP and it's enjoyable to read about the people that were in it. Once again, you know nothing about nothing.

PREVIEW: Lana wasn't a good actress in PP, hope she got better. She had quite a good figure then. Susan Oliver who played a dumb Ann Howard was quite a beauty. Poor Dr. Rossi (Ed Nelson)never does get lucky in the 5 years the show ran. I keep trying to figure out what's goin' on with Constance's hair on the left side. She certainly had some killer peepers. False eyelashes and eye liner were quite the rage during this time period. Mia apparently only needed mascara to have long lashes. Lee Grant played a great Stella Chernak.

Yes, there was a great difference in the acting talents between the 2 sisters, different types of personality and appearance in general. Were they fathered by the same man ? It is a question that has been raised by many who knew of Maria's background. Whether or not that was the case, they shared deep feelings for each other, and all the annoyances and fellowship of siblings everywhere. Lana has had a hard and troubled life but appears to be carrying on quite well in spite of difficult circumstances. Who is to choose a life like Natalie had, though outwardly sucessful, she had her cross to bear as we all do in this vale of tears. My prayers go out to Lana that some answers as to how her sister really died will be found through this new investigation. Why should RJ, Chris Walken or anyone ever be given a pass just because of celebrity. They are no better than the least of those among us , which so many seem to feel Dennis and Marty are. I for one respect their brave honesty as to what they believe happened that night and again, Dennis passed a lie detector. Why doesn't RJ do the same !!!

Ask that last question to the dumb cops. They should all three have already been polygraphed by the LASCD many months ago. That's what I don't understand. How do you reinvestigate an old drowning case if you don't first and foremost, talk to the remaining much older survivors and polygraph them? Esp. when one is in his 80's! Idiots.

The Lottery

August 14 2012, 1:39 PM

The following is rumored to be a true story from the Amoco Petroleum Company Christmas Party in Melbourne, Australia last year.

At the Staff Christmas Party last year, the Staff decided to pull a practical joke on their boss who had a habit of playing serious practical jokes on everyone else. When he went to the toilet, they went through his wallet and found his State Lotto Ticket. Then, they wrote down his numbers and called over the waitress to set up a little prank.

She came back half an hour later and asked if anyone wanted to know the results of that night's Lotto draw, then proceeded to read his numbers aloud, before setting the numbers on the table. The boss looked at the numbers, then casually pulled out his ticket from his wallet and compared them.

He became really silent, put his wallet back in his jacket and sat down again, and checked the numbers, very carefully. Then, he sculled his drink, stood up on his chair and shouted out to the whole room, “I just want to let you all know something. I've been having an affair with my secretary for months. I don't like any of you, and I have hated working for this f*cking company. You can all go to Hell, cause I've just won a *****-load of money, and I'm leaving.”

End of job.
End of marriage.
End of story.

The Continuing Story of PP

No score for this post
August 15 2012, 12:48 PM

Ann Howard played by the beautiful Susan Oliver, has either leaped to her death on Sailor's Bluff or was pushed by Lee Webber, played by David Oliver (no relation) who is filled with intense hatred for her since it has now become known that she did not push his brother Chris from the bluff when they were all children, but Lee did and blinded his own brother. (David was Lana's husband for 5 wks.)

Dr. Rossi, whom has lousy luck with women on this show, is devastated since they were going to be married. Another one bites the dust for poor Mike. Constance chose jailbird Elliott Carson over Mike, Stella Chernak was crazy and left town when her father Gus died, and now poor dumb blonde Ann.

Allison meanwhile, severely depressed since Chris Webber yelled at her that she is "incapable" of loving anyone, was admitted to the hospital on emotional issues. Instead of taking a sleeping sedative, she dresses and leaves the hospital. The last we see of her is the back of her short unattractive boy head as she walks on a road out of PP. (No big loss). Buh Bye.

At the Cord mansion, Betty and the exceedingly handsome Steven Cord, are working on their new marriage and Betty has moved back in from her mother's house. Steven has chosen to represent Lee on his charge of murdering Ann.

Patrons in PP are upset that Steven should decide to do this since Ann was his long lost sister and nobody likes Lee the motorcyle riding bully. Except Lana, his long suffering wife that he treats like dirt. Must be the pompadour that makes her stay and want to marry him in real life.

Back at the Peyton house, Martin and Hannah Cord (Steven's supposed mother) are conspiring once again to keep Steven from finding out the truth about his roots.

Before Allison (called Al now) departed on her winsom way out of PP, Rodney visited her and asked her to marry him. She told him "he was just feeling sorry for her, but that was okay, cause she felt sorry for him too". Rodney leaves defeated.

The Schubers are gone now from PP, taking their deaf brat Kim with them. Good riddance. Stella has fled PP as well after she confirmed to prosecutor Fowler that she did indeed, commit perjury on the witness stand at Rodney's murder trial. This causes the release of Rodney after he was found guilty of murdering Joe Chernak, which was really just a terrible accident and Joe deserved what he got.

Norman and Rita, married now for a few weeks, are living in the apartment by the drug store as Rodney movies in with his grandfather at the Peyton mansion at Martin's pleadings.

Betty Anderson's mother, Julie, has refused Leslie Harrington's marriage proposal. She is going to remain married and go visit her looney husband at the mental facility he has been in for quite awhile after he shot Leslie, as it was reported he is getting a bit less crazy.

PREVIEW: Did Al leave because Lee told her he was out on bail and she better hide? Will Steven find out who his "real" mother is? Was Ann Howard really pushed or did she fall or leap to her death? Will Dr. Rossi ever find love? Will Betty and Steven's marriage last? Will Leslie find a way to seek revenge on Martin? Stay tuned!

In Color! The Continuing Story of Peyton Place

No score for this post
August 20 2012, 12:07 PM

Finally in color at ep. 268! Steven Cord is even more breathtakingly handsome! But, oh so very sad. He has discovered at long last that Catherine Peyton, also a murderess, is his and Ann's real mother! At 17, she had twins, gave Steven to Hannah and Ann to the father. After having to live “downstairs” while growing up in the mansion, Steven now knows he is the illegitimate grandson of Martin! Now him and the vanished Al have something in common.

But Martin only wanted to protect his slutty spoiled daughter who had an affair and was impregnated by Hannah's cheating husband, Bryan Cord, Steven's real father. And all these years he thought his father was Martin! Hanna moves out of the mansion after she betrayed Martin.

Meanwhile, a tormented Norman is not happy to discover that his beloved late mother was a very busy young girl and to find out he has two more siblings. Rod doesn't care much, he is still pining over Al and her boy head.

Back at Doctors Hospital, Dr. Rossi has become quite mesmerized by the beautiful and very young Rachel Welles (Leigh Taylor-Young) who is desperately trying to escape the unwanted clutches of her pervert uncle, Jack Chandler. He is fighting desperately to take her back to the farm where he can barricade her in and make her his prisoner of love.

A camera shot of Eli painting an additional number to the PP population sign on the square. Connie has had a boy and Elliott is over the moon! He was in New York looking for Al when he got the call that baby Matthew, named after Matt Swain, was on his way.

On a somber note, Rachel finally disclosed to her uncle where she had found Al's bracelet, on the floorboard of his car, but she is terrified of him and will not tell. This doesn't look good for Al as she never took off the bracelet her father gave her.

Back at the Cord mansion, a distraught Steven has given his mother back the Deed to their house. Sweet, beautiful Betty is doing her best to comfort him. A big thank you to the producers for showing us Steven with his shirt off/unbuttoned. Betty is a very lucky lady!

Down at the courthouse, the Judge has ruled at Lee's preliminary hearing that his case is dismissed! He does not believe Lee pushed Ann off Sailor's Bluff, especially after Chris and Hannah both testified that “they saw Lee push her”. Something isn't ringing true here. Maybe it was losing the pompadour that worked for him.

A jubilant Lee Webber, trying to arrange his hair back into his infamous pompadour after Steven insisted it be cut for court, and wearing his first suit ever, is feeling euphoric after his release from jail.

He won't be jubilant for long as his now disloyal wife, Miss Lana, has the hots for Rodney. A depressed Chris and his sister-in-law are mortified that Lee is on his way home. They cringe as his motorcycle pulls up. Home sweet home.

PREVIEW: Will there be no more stolen kisses from Rod for Lana? Will Lee kill him as he threatened? Will baby Matthew Carson's abundance of black hair turn blonde like his mother and sister's? Will Steven have a nervous breakdown? Will Dr. Rossi be able to remember that Rachel is only 19 and legally still a minor? Did Lee push Ann? Did Hannah? Will Norman be able to accept that his mother has fallen from grace more than once? How long will Dr. Rossi have Rachel around before Ryan marries and impregnates her in real life? Has something terrible happened to Al? Will Lee's pompadour be back for good? Stay tuned!

A lustful Sandie Webber (Miss Lana) can't forget Rodney's passionate kiss. If only Lee had stayed in jail! How can she face him after she blabbed to him in his cell that Rod had kissed her? As Lee skips through the door, his smitten wife stares in dread at his newly coiffed pompadour and two facial moles wondering if Rod has thought about her.

Meanwhile, as Rodney saunters down Main Street holding Rachel's hand, Lee and his reclaimed pompadour come roaring up on his beloved motorcycle, his short Neanderthal legs right at home on the pedals. As Rod tells him to leave them alone, he rides off thinking about how Golden Boy's face is going to feel under his fists again.

Back at the castle, Hannah arrives home for the last time and discovers Martin is not waiting to bid her adieu. As she glares at Catherine's portrait, she feels crazed and compelled to pick up one of Mr. Peyton's beloved handmade chess pieces, roll it up in the Clarion newspaper he was reading, dip it in the fireplace and torch her hated arch enemy's loathsome portrait. How dare Martin replace it after she slashed the first one?

We now see Rachel back in her tiny room Dr. Rossi has provided her at the hospital. She is livid that the good doctor left town for a couple days without telling her adios. She rips up the note he left her as Rodney knocks and sticks his head in the door. He chastises her for being angry with Mike and leaves her to stew in the makings of her own childish juices.

At Al's house, Elliott and the ever compassionate Constance discuss having Rachel come live with them and help with baby Matthew. Elliott is first opposed to the idea until Connie bats her baby blues with her expertly applied false lashes at him and he finally acquiesces after they agree to talk it over with Mike.

A remorseful Hannah comes to say farewell to sweet Betty and informs her that as long as Mr. Peyton is alive, there will be no peace for Steven. Steven cares only about pleasing the old man more than anything else in the world. Hannah speculates how alike her and Betty are and with a rare feeling of good will towards each other, Hannah leaves.

Down at Eli's General Store, a tortured and angry Norman is slowly returning to his old self after laughing and conversing with Eli and doe eyed Rachel. They head for Norman's apartment when Eli returns with an alarmed look on his face. The fire sirens that terrified Rachel so after she reveals her parents died in a fire, are headed to the Peyton manor house.

Steven and Betty arrive at the stately residence to return Hannah's check, when they see flames engulfing the chateau. A panicked and terrified Steven rushes into the house screaming his grandfather and mother's name. He finds the old man slumped at the foot of the stairs, unconscious and close to death. Steven heroically carries him outside and massages his withered chest until he comes around. Steven has saved his grandfather's life! Hannah, of course, is long gone from the burning dwelling.

The ambulance arrives and they all rush to the hospital where oxygen is immediately given to Martin and he is placed in an oxygen bubble. Amazingly, he seems to pull through and immediately asks for Steven. He wants to know what Steven wants for saving his life and is told that when he's ready, Steven will let him know.

PREVIEW: Will Rachel forgive Dr. Rossi? Will Sandie still chase Rodney? Will Lee seek his revenge on Rod? Will Rachel go live with the Carsons? Will Mr. Peyton live? Did Hannah deliberately try to crispy fry Martin? Is “love in the air” for Rachel and Rod? Will they quit giving Elliott so much airtime? Stay tuned!

Back at the town known as Peyton Place, Rachel has been carted off the nuthouse after convincing herself she is really the missing Allison McKenzie. Uncle Pervert gets shot by the police and Steven has been a naughty boy with Mr. Peyton's fiance, Adrienne (played by a young Gena Rowlands).

Last we heard, Sandie Webber had left town and Lee and his pompadour decided not to follow. Lee has cheerfully told an unhappy Betty that he saw Steven and Adrienne kissing on the beach. Could this be the end of their marriage as Martin is hoping?

Down on the wharf, Eddie Jacks is meeting his daughter Rita for the first time since he left her and Ada 18 years ago. Ada reluctantly gives him his old job back at the tavern but lets him know there will be no hanky panky.

Steven arranges a clandestine meeting with Adrienne in Boston. Betty takes a taxi to follow them and sees Steven leave her hotel. She assumes the worst and doesn't believe Steven when he tells her later that nothing happened.

PREVIEW: Will Betty leave Steven? Will Steven have sex with Adrienne? Will Rod win Betty back? Will anyone visit crazy Rachel in the loony bin? Stay tuned til next week!

The fact that she took the surname "Wood," shows that Lana was cashing in on Natalie's fame. Like that trashy book (piece of garbage) she wrote just a few years after Natalie's death--Lana is despicable. I can see why Natalie and Robert wanted little to do with her. And don't blame Natalie's mother for Lana's trashy behavior.

After seeing Lana in Peyton Place, it's easy to see why she never made it big as an actress.

She has a whiny, nasal toned voice that is rather annoying, especially when she's shrieking. I thought she did a good job on PP, she had about 78 eps. or so before they wrote her out by having her leave town, more or less forced to by Martin Peyton.

She was very attractive, had a great figure and beautiful shiny hair. It was physically obvious her and Natalie were sisters.

The patrons of Peyton Place are stunned to learn of Adrienne Van Sleydon's tragic death at the foot of the Peyton stairs on what was to be her wedding day to Martin. Eddie Jacks has been arrested but states he only found her and saw a young brunette woman fleeing the home.

As Betty and Steven's divorce carries on, Rod is trying to win Betty's hand. Steven seethes with jealousy but has resolved himself to becoming her ex-husband. The vicious hatred between Martin and his illegitimate grandson wages on as Steven loses in his heated lawsuit to prove the old fox incompetent.

An upset Leslie Harrington is worried that Eddie will spill the beans and finger him for his solicitation to have Martin murdered. What he doesn't know is, Eddie has already informed the elderly man with his demands for $50,000 to turn over the promissory note.

At the Carson home, Constance, at the handsome Dr. Rossi's urging, has taken baby Matthew and gone to Boston to visit Rachel in the nuthouse. She is reassured to see that Rachel is much better and no longer calling herself Allison.

Meanwhile, a sleuthing Elliott Carson is still trying to find out who handed Chandler the gun through the open window of his jail cell. (They didn't have screens in their jails in those days?)

PREVIEW: Will Rod and Betty remarry, thus making Betty the sole heir of all Martin's wealth? Will Steven win Betty back and find a way to get his share of the Peyton money? Will Betty tell the police she was the indirect cause of the widow Van Sleydon's untimely fall? Will the old f*cker ever die? Will Dr. Rossi ever get lucky? Where is Puppy?

In the snowy New England town of Peyton Place, Leslie Harrington has just shot Lee Webber as he picked up a heavy statue off his desk. A wounded Lee makes his way back to the mansion in a tearful attempt to shoot the old man for his betrayal. Once again, Steven jumps the injured man and the gun goes off, thus finishing Lee off. Martin tells a stunned Steven that this is his penance for pushing his granddaughter Ann off the bluff.

Meanwhile, at the diner on the wharf, the handsome Dr. Rossi has been summoned to save a sick baby that was left there by a young blonde girl named Jill Smith. She claims the baby was given to her by her mother, Allison McKenzie.

At Doctors Hospital, a very sick Rita is prepped for immediate heart surgery after suffering from pulmonary edema. The surgery saves her life but causes her to suffer a miscarriage.

A battered Betty opens her door at the Country Inn at Rodney's incessant knocking. When he sees her bruised cheek, he angrily leaves to seek out Steven. The men go at it in Steven's living room until Norman calls and Rod rushes to the hospital.

Ms. Lana, with a bold short hairstyle, returns for the last time to attend the funeral of Lee, her tv and real life husband. His pompadour will be missed.

A failing Mr. Peyton leaves his home to Steven as he climbs into his limo to depart for the Boston clinic.

PREVIEW: Is baby Kelli really Allison's? What is the beautiful Jill Smith's real name? Is she a real blonde? Why is Connie so upset over Adrienne's sudden death when she barely knew her? Will Leslie really shoot Eddie over the promissory note? Will Rita and Norman ever have a baby? Stay tuned!
