I went to a wine tasting some time ago and our presenter gave a listing of the red wines from weakest to strongest, with Merlot and Cabernet being the strongest. Can someone help me recreate this list?

Thanks,
Sara

Strong what?
Acid
colour
alcohol
tannin
texture
sense of place
on and on and on.

Point being: There is no such list. Wine is much more complex than this.

I certainly hope the person giving you this list qualified what he/she was talking about. If not, they are simply one of the thousands of people out there in the wine profession who do not know what they are talking about.

It sounds like the strenght to which the presenter was referring to is the alcolic content. One would expect a Cabernet Sauvignon to have more alcohol than a Rose' or one of the lighter Burgundies, but that is just a broad generallity. I can't think of any reason for such a statement by itself unleass you simply missed the qualifier of that statement.
