Hello everyone, I am starting to learn about wines, I have about 130 bottles collection. I love the strong wines and I am getting to the point to want to become a snob.
My question is that I have converted a closet under the stairs to a cellar. I have no temperature control or any kind of cooling system there. Are my wines at risk? I will be buying a temperature monitoring divice but how can I cool this place or do I need to. Wine temperatures still a bit complex to me but I am trying to learn. thanks for your help

Joe

I'm a little confused as to whether the stairs are in the cellar itself or not. If they are, you probably are in an admirable postion. If your cellar is unheated the cool of the cellar will actually be optimal for long term storage of your wines, should they be actually wines worth laying down. There will be some seasonal sifference in the overall temerature, but it probably won't be very much, and the temperature swings should be minimal. If the temperature is generally in the mid 50's (fahrenheit), that is as good as you could wish for.
