I have been banging on about Dustin's Bar Mitzvah for what seems like years now. Last year they released a 'demos' collection in Japan - called 'Dial M For Mitzvah'. I loved it. This year has seen my Dustins love wane a little. Mainly cos I got to see the band less and less. These things happen. So I have just downloaded their first 'proper' LP - 'Get Your Mood On' - which came out on 4th December on Hungry Kid records. Is it time my love for this band was rekindled?

Phew. Just played this 14 track monster LP. And my love for the band is more than rekindled. What you get here is a more refined and better recorded band. The songs still have punch. And energy. And attitude. But there seems to be more focus now. A little more variety. Old favourites like 'To The Ramones', 'Get Your Mood On' and 'Kick Him Out' come acrosss almost like new songs. They brim with a renewed vigor. And they make me want to be 18 again, again. This is music to get the heart racing and the blood pumping - an audio amphetamine if you like. But what you also get on this LP are a handful of new songs that more than match the greats of last year - 'Catholic Boys' 'Saw Right Through You' and 'The Grass' are wonderful punk rock nuggets. The lyrics still deal with youthful concerns - drinking beer, getting wasted and girls. But they also go beyond this and on anti racism song - 'Young Pretender' which gives BNP leader Nick Griffin a vocal savagiing. And too fucking right.

There isn't a lot more than I can add to this. Dustin's Bar Mitzvah should be massive. They're snotty. They're fun and more importantly they (punk) rock like bastards from hell. Essential listening.
